Part 74

I woke up the next day, realizing that it about 6 days everything would fall apart. I think it was Sunday; I couldn’t keep track of time anymore. I was beginning to panic before Alec and the rest of the house could even think about waking up. I decided to go outside and get some fresh air, because the realization hit me hard and left my head fogged up. I changed into something ok looking and went outside without disturbing anyone.
I went down the mountain a little, making sure to keep track of where I was, so as not to get lost. I was enjoying my time here out in the woods; the noises of the forest were calming me, making all my thoughts of my birthday disappear. That peace, however, was disturbed, by me, or my wolf to be more precise.
‘Sorry, Alex, but I just can’t let you get distracted. We’ve got to figure out what we’re going to do for our birthday’ came my wolf’s voice inside my head.
‘What am I suppose to do? There’s nothing we can do!! Anyway, shouldn’t you have thought about talking to me before this? I mean we’ve got like 6 days now! You’re a little late’ I yelled at myself.
‘I was going to get you alone first to talk to you but you were hardly alone, and I was going to talk to yesterday but Alec took you on a date so I didn’t want to disturb, and he said not to talk about that. I made my mind to talk to you today, whether we were alone or not and I just found the chance.’ My wolf explained.
‘Well there still isn’t anything we can do. All this evil or good is going to take over us, without our consent.’ I said.
‘No one ever tells us everything, Alex. I’m sure there’s something they haven’t told us yet. You have the same feeling, don’t you? That they’re all hiding something from us?’ My wolf voiced my thoughts.
‘Yeah I have been feeling that, but I know that whatever they’re hiding from us is for a reason. They’ve always told us stuff when we need it, or if we were supposed to find out at this time. It’s all set in stone, even if we don’t think so.’ I thought to her.
‘Maybe, but can’t you ask them? Please? I mean maybe they’re waiting for you to ask? Remember they never outright gave you any information until you demanded it.’
She had a point. No one ever told it to us straight, I would have to demand, get angry or throw a fit before someone finally told me filled me in and I was back in the loop.
‘Ok, I’ll ask. Who knows? Maybe that’s why they haven’t told me. It might also save me.’ I decided.
‘That’s all I needed to talk to you about. You can go back to your quiet and peace.’ My wolf disappeared inside my head.
I went back to serenity, and walked around the forest for a bit. I realized the sun was finally up, and I realized everyone must be awake now. I started making my way back to the cottage and when I reached it, I went inside to see Marie and Daniel at the doorway, panicked.
“Alex!!” They yelled, worried.
“What? What happened? What’s wrong?” I asked, instantly panicked myself
“Where have you been?! Alec woke up to see his bed empty with no note or anything saying you had gone out and he panicked! He woke up everyone and set a search party out to look for you!! He also couldn’t get you telepathically, so he thought you were dead or that someone had stolen you again!! Don’t make us worry like that!!” Marie scolded.
They all though I had gotten kidnapped? I didn’t mean to make anyone panic, I was just trying to get my mind off things.
“Sorry, I didn’t think that going for a walk would cause so much trouble.” I murmured, guilty.
“It’s not that! You can go for a walk whenever you want, just let someone know so we know what’s going on.” Daniel said, kind of like a father.
Marie and Daniel called everyone back, saying that I had returned and everyone was back in a couple seconds of the call. First one back was Alec. I’m not surprised though, he was probably the most worried. As soon as he saw me, I was crushed into his arms.
“Don’t worry me like that!! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” Alec chided.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you and everyone else. I was just trying to get my mind off, you know.” I said, not looking him in the eyes.
He instantly understood, and forgave me. I hugged him back, snuggling into him. Everyone came back to see Alec and I hugging, and started chattering.
“Thank gosh your ok!!” Bells hugged me.
“Don’t scare us like that girl!” Olive went next, wrapping her arms around me.
“You know, I think we should put a leash on you.” Brendan joked, ruffling my hair.
“Where you been, kiddo?” Oscar asked, smiling at me.
“Tell someone when you leave, sweetie, you worried us!!” Stephanie exclaimed, hugging me.
“Don’t do that to us.” John said, sternly, yet I could tell he was as worried as everyone and not the tiniest bit mad.
“Sorry, I made you guys worry. I just kind of realized how much time was left and I panicked so I went to take a walk. I didn’t think it would cause so much trouble.” I looked down.
“It’s ok, Alex. You’ve been under way too much pressure. I just realized, when we couldn’t find you, that was a lot of stress and worry and you feel like that all the time. I would never be able to do that.” Olive commented.
“Yeah, I’m glad you’re Lifest and not me. I don’t think I could take that!” Bells commented, her eyes widening.
“You were definitely made for the job, kid.” Jack said, smiling at me.
“And we would have never met if you hadn’t become Lifest.” Jacob mentioned.
I smiled at everyone. This stress was really getting to me. I suddenly remembered my wolf’s and I’s conversation.
“Hey guys. Is there something you’re keeping from me? I can tell there is something that you’re not telling me, what’s up?” I asked, politely.
I felt everyone sigh, everyone but Alec, so he didn’t know either, that thought comforted me somewhat.
“We are hiding something, BUT before you get mad. What we’re not telling you will come in handy if you turn evil, so that’s why we’re not telling you. Trust us on this please?” Marie stated.
“Ok, I’m not mad. I had a feeling you were hiding something from me but also had a feeling that you would tell me if or when I needed it, like everyone always tells us.” I told them, calmly.
This seemed to shock everyone. Usually when I wasn’t in the loop, I would get mad or upset, but I had realized the pattern this time, that they always told me when I needed it, and these people really were on my side, so I had no reason to think they were against me.
“Thank you, Alex. You really have grown up beautifully. I’m sad we missed it.” Stephanie regretted.
“You might not have been there, but I’m not done growing, so I still need you to watch me grow.” I told them, forgiving them.
All the pieces felt like they fell into place, for the first time since forever, so I was calmer than I usually would be. We all went to eat breakfast, considering everyone was out searching for me and I had left the house without eating anything either.

The week was going by so slowly, I couldn’t bare to wait much longer, it felt like I was suffocating, and I couldn’t take it anymore! I stayed in my room most of the time, not wanting to get out. I was just waiting for my birthday, but everyone was worried about me. I could tell they were concerned. I didn’t do much, I just stayed in my room, only coming down to eat and go to the bathroom. I didn’t want to do anything really.
“Breakfast time!!” Marie called everyone in the house to come down.
I didn’t want to go downstairs. I wasn’t hungry, nor did I want to see everyone’s concerned and worried faces pointed at me.
I just stayed up here for breakfast, and when I assumed everyone was done, I still stayed in the same spot, not moving. You would have thought I was dead if you didn’t know better.
“Alex.” Alec’s voice came through the door.
“Come in.” I said, from my spot on my bed.
I was splayed out on my bed, facing the ceiling, just staring at it. I couldn’t do much else.
Alec came in and sat on my bed. I still didn’t moved, not wanting to give in.
I heard Alec sigh, yet still made no move to get up or do anything.
“What’s wrong, Alex?” he asked.
I didn’t move, knowing Alec knew exactly what was wrong.
“I know you’re worried but staying up here and doing nothing is making us all worried. You’re not helping the situation but making it worse.” Alec told me.
I still didn’t move. He also knew what that meant.
“Yes, I know there’s nothing you can do. There really isn’t anything we can do about all this. It’s inevitable, but staying up here and making us all worry for you still isn’t the best way to handle this situation.” He answered.
I sighed, yet didn’t make any move to get up. I was tired of trying to act like I was ok, I didn’t want to worry everyone but I also wasn’t going to lie to them and tell them I was perfectly fine.
“We’ll get through this. I promise. I won’t let you submit to your dark side, if you even have one. I know we’ll conquer anything; we’ve just got to try. Come on, Alex. We can do this!”
“Alec, you and I both know that I’m evil, inside I really am evil, so don’t try to act as if I’m not. My evil side will take over and destroy me, so it’s not even worth trying.” I gave up.
He grabbed me, sat me up and shook me so hard my teeth started shaking.
“You can’t think like that! We’ve all got evil sides!! None of us are perfectly good, and it’s only natural for us to have an evil side. If you give up so easily your evil side truly will destroy you and the world!! Don’t think like that!!” Alec yelled at me.
I was so shocked I couldn’t say anything for a while.
“Do you truly think I can do this?” I asked, quietly.
“Yes, I seriously think that your good, inside and out, and if you have an evil, the it’s the side of a pea. You honestly can’t be evil, I know it.” Alec said, not wavering.
“You have too much faith in me. I’m going to disappoint you and everyone else.” I said, looking down.
“No, we’ve all got faith in you Alex. We all think you can beat this evil inside of you and save the world. All of us can’t have too much faith in you, we’re not overestimating you, and we know you can do it. Please don’t give up so easily. It’s not over yet.” Alec was truly determined.
“Ok, fine.” I said.
He sighed in relief and we left my room, and went to the living room, where everyone was waiting for us. They immediately came to hug me as they saw me enter.
“I’m sorry guys. You have so much trust in me not to do the wrong thing, that I’m afraid I’ll fail you. I’m not sure if I can keep my evil side contained. I’m so scared something’s going to go wrong and the world will be destroyed.” I cried.
I hung my head low. I was so scared something was going to go wrong. I couldn’t save the people I loved the most and they would hate me.
“We know you won’t disappoint us, Alex. We know you’ve been put under a lot pressure. No one expects you to save the world, we’re all sure you will save it. You can’t possibly fail us.” Bells said, squeezing my shoulder.
“Yeah, and even if you do turn evil, we won’t be disappointed because we know it’s mostly our fault for letting you turn evil.” Olive said, sadly.
“You just have to fight your evil side, we’ll do that rest.” Stephanie said.
“We won’t let you turn evil.” Jack said, determined.
“What kind of friend would I be if I let you be taken by evil forces?” Jacob joked.
The tears started falling like crazy, and I couldn’t hold it in anymore. They truly thought I couldn’t do any wrong in the world. These people surrounding me, truly cared for me, and would do anything to save me. They all loved me and I couldn’t ask for a better family than this one. I treasured them all.
QUESTION: WOULD YOU WANT ALEX AND ALEC TO HAVE KIDS?
If I make a sequel then I'm going to make them have kids and a family of their own. It's all going to be about them and their family. Their kids are going to be special because their parents are the Lifests.
