The black and brown swung one of his unsheafed claws at Sweetpaw's face, yet she ducked, instead getting a nip on the ear. It stunged, but Sweetpaw just shook it off and lunged at the tom, who lazliy dodged it.

“Very slow in the undergowth for a ThunderClan cat,” he taunted her. “But you aren't ThunderClan, are you?”

Sweetpaw ignored him as she tried attacking again, running under his legs. She twisted around and used her hind paw to claw at him.

He yowled out in surprise, but he quickly reacted and the two rolled on the forest floor, one scratch after another.

Sweetpaw had never felt adrinline like this. Somehow, she was able to scratch him up pretty bad. It surprised her, since she was never in a battle and never had any denmates to play fight with as a kit.

Then, the adrenline wore off, and the tom was able to pin her down. Sweetpaw's eyes grew wide as he leaned down and whispered in her ear, “I can smell kittypet. Goldenstar is a fool.” He got back up and smiled wickedly, “At least she won't have to worry about you anymore.” The tom lifted a paw, flexed his claws, and aimed a blow at Sweetpaw.

She closed her eyes. This is it, I'm as good as dead! Was this supposed to be my destiny?

But his claws never reached her as the weight was lifted off of her. Looking up, she saw a flash of bright red. Another cat had pulled the RiverClan off of her and the new, younger tom quickly clawed at the Riverclan cat. The black and brown tom was already tired from Sweetpaw attacking him, and the red cat quickly scared him off.

Sweetpaw got up, and the tom rushed over to her. He was only maybe a moon or two older than Sweetpaw and he had the most strangest eyes. They were a deep violet color.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Sweetpaw mewed giving herself a shake. Then she jumped back into reality. “We need to tell Goldenstar!”

“I bet so, I mean, Riverclan isn't supposed to be on our territory,” he growled.

Sweetpaw shook her head, irrated, “No, there's a whole group of RiverClan cats that are at the Sunningrocks! Shadowstorm sent me off to get help.”

The red tom's eyes grew wide, and then he dashed off in the direction of the camp. Sweetpaw ran after him.

“Hey, wait up!” she called after him but he kept running fasted. Sweetpaw just fallowed him down the ravine and into camp. By the time she got into the thorn tunnel, the other cat was already yowling the news to the entire camp. Goldenstar nodded seriously and was beginning to order cats around, when she saw Sweetpaw run in.

“Sweetpaw,” Goldenstar called. “What happened?”

Sweetpaw quickly explained everything to the gathering cats, who looked ready to tear the pelts off of the RiverClan cats. Once Sweetpaw had finished, Goldenstar raised her tail to silence the cats.

“Let's go,” Goldenstar meowed, but added at Sweetpaw as she began to fallow, “Sweetpaw, you're done enough today and you aren't very trained. Stay here.”

Sweetpaw nodded gratefully and sat back down. The other cats left, leaving only a few cats to guard the camp. The red tom went with them. The midnight she-cat felt alone with all these new cats that she hadn't even met yet.

Then a new cat bounded across the clearing. She was a beautiful multicolored she-cat, and she started sniffing Sweetpaw all over, making her lean back.

“What are you doing?” Sweetpaw asked, shocked.

The tortoiseshell stopped and blinked at her a couple of times, then seemed to snap into reality. “Forgive me, it must be weird having a strange cat start to sniff you over. I'm Autumnleaf, the Clan medicine cat. You look a little battered, so I'm just checking for wounds. Do you hurt anywhere?”

Sweetpaw nodded, starting to feel the pain in her muscles. “I hurt everywhere, but I should be fine. Except I think my ear is bleeding...”

“It is. A pretty bad cut too,” Autumneaf got close to her and sniffed her ear, “It'll leave a scar for sure. Here, fallow me back to my den and I'll help you out."

Autumnleaf bounded across the clearing and Sweetpaw fallowed more slowly, taking in her surroundings. The cleaning was beautiful, and it seemed so empty without the other cats.

The two ended in a smaller clearing separated from the main clearing. In the center there was a huge rock, with a crack down the middle. Autumnleaf disappeared in side of it, and Sweetpaw sat back down. Only a few moments passed before the muliticolored cat came back out with a bundle in her jaws.

Autumnleaf sat down beside her, and began to chew up the leaves, making a mixture. “Now, please hold still while I put this on your wound.”

Sweetpaw sat as still as a rock as the Medicine cat dabbed her ear. She felt the juices sink into her bare flesh, making her purr as it already began to feel better.

“Wow, that's already working wonders,” Sweetpaw mewed. Autumnleaf smiled as she wrapped her ear in cobwebs.

“That's why I'm a medicine cat,” she replied. “I'm actually surprised that you only got a scratch on your ear. From what you were meowing earlier, it sounded as if you were fighting hard. Have you had an training before?”

Sweetpaw shook her head, “No. I've never really fought before at all. I never had any denmates growing up, and my mom couldn't teach me, it was impossible for her. Honestly, I was fighting on instinct, it came naturally actually.”

Autumnleaf went silent, and looked at Sweetpaw with wide eyes. Then, as quickly as the strange behavior came, it was gone, and she smiled sweetly.

“StarClan was with you,” Autumn leaf mewed, and bowed her head.

“Who's StarClan?”

The mulicolored she-cat looked up to the blue sky. “They are our warrior ancestors. When a cat dies, they live amongst the stars, there to guild us and to live peacefully. We fallow their code, their laws and we are rewarded by being able to live with them when we pass.”

“Wow,” Sweetpaw mewed, fallowing Autumnleaf's eyes.

“That's one of the great things about being a clan cat. Wait here.”

The medicine cat dissappered back inside of the rock again, and reappeared with a litte seed in her mouth.

“Here, eat this poppy seed. It'll help with your aching muscles. It'll also make you fall asleep, so I suggest you go the apprentice's den.”

Sweepaw nodded, “I will. Oh, and where is the apprentice den?”

There was a mrrow of laughter from Autumnleaf. “I forgot you're new. Here, I'll take you there.”

The two she-cats padded out of the medicine clearing after Sweetpaw had ate the poppy seed. By the time they reached the den, Sweetpaw went to the back and fell instantly into sleep.

The storm raged, whipping rain and wind into Sweetpaw's face. She stared wide eyed at the scene before her. Once again she was in the forest, and the storm was destroying it. Somewhere in the distance, she heard the yowls of fearful cats.

She wanted to run, but something held her to her spot.

Suddenly, the storm cleared right above her head. Looking up, the she-cat was able to see the sun. It was shinning brightly above her, yet everywhere else the storm still went, and cries of help still cried.

“The eye of the storm, The Hope,” Sweetpaw whiped her head around to see a she-cat approaching her. “It's so very Sweet.”

Sweetpaw looked closely at the strange she-cat. She was somewhat faded, with stars dancing at her paws. Her pelt used to black, with several white markings.

“Who are you?” Sweetpaw yowled over the storm. “What do you mean?!”

The strange she-cat looked at her with sadness but then her eyes brightened.

“I'm a friend, an ancestor."

“Are you from StarClan?”

She bowed her head. “Now I am.”

Her pelt started to fade, and Sweetpaw tried to run to her, but she was gone. Sighing, she looked back up at the sky, and saw the hole in the sky begin to widen, until the storm was gone. The yowls turned to cheers, and everything was peaceful once more.

It all meant something, but what, Sweetpaw did not know. All she knew that it involved her, and her destiny.
