Part 72
Alex’s POV
The girls took out a long blue dress (picture on the side). I protested profusely, saying that I didn’t deserve the dress and I couldn’t fit in it and all that. They wouldn’t listen though and shoved me into the bathroom with the dress.
“Guys, let me out!! I don’t want to wear it!! What is this for anyway?!” I asked and demanded.
“You haven’t figured it out yet, Alex? Come now! You’re a smart girl; it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out why we’re doing this.” Mary said.
Well I had my suspicion that we were going somewhere, like on a date, but I wasn’t sure and if we were I had no clue where.
“I have figured out but where are we going? Do you guys know?” I asked.
“No we have no idea sweetie, but we want you to look good wherever you go.” Bells said.
“What if we’re only going to another restaurant? Then I’ll look overdressed!” I yelled, worried.
“No you won’t! We might not know where you’re going but he told us what to dress you in.” Olive said, cheerfully.
“Ugh, fine I’ll wear it.” I gave in.
I heard cheering on the other side, to which I rolled my eyes at. I get dress in the elegant dress, which, to my surprise, actually fits me. It was so pretty; I felt I didn’t deserve to wear it. It wasn’t for girls like me. I quickly took a shower, considering I had been asleep for 3 weeks, I really needed it. I exited the bathroom, and all eyes were on me.
The girls all gasp and started to talk at once.
“You look so beautiful, Alex!!” Bells gushed.
“I never thought I’d see you in a dress, much less in such a nice dress!!” Olive exclaimed.
“You look amazing!! It looks way better on you than it did on me.” Marie explained.
“It fits you so nicely. You’ve definitely got to wear more dresses!” Maria told me.
“That dress doesn’t do you enough justice.” Stephanie said.
“Oh, I remember that dress!! It looks amazing on you, Alex!!” Mary said.
They all sat me down at the dresser where they started to work on my hair and makeup. I just let them do whatever they were doing, knowing that they would make me look 10x better than I could.
“Where did you guys get this dress?” I asked, as everyone was so busy fawning over me.
“I wore this on my first date with Daniel.” Marie told me.
“I wore this at my prom with David.” Maria said.
“I wore this at my wedding reception with Damon.” Mary said.
“It’s so precious to you all! Are you sure I can wear it.” I said, becoming very self conscious.
“Of course it’s ok, sweetie. It’d be an honor for you to wear it for us. We have all boys so we didn’t have anyone that would take the dress. You’re like our daughter in way. This dress is now yours.” Maria gave it away.
By now everyone was done with my makeup and hair. I was so shocked at what they said, of course I thought of them as my parents as well, they took care of me and definitely cared and loved me.
“Aw!! Thank you.” I said, tearing up.
“Hey, I just did your makeup!! Don’t ruin it!” Bells exclaimed.
I had to laugh at that one. I hugged everyone and we went to the living room. It turns out we were really late, because everyone was already downstairs. As I come through the hallway, all eyes were on me; as if I was the only one anyone ever cared about. I really felt loved and cared for.
Alec was wearing the traditional tux, which I bet was from Daniel, David and Damon too. Or he could have gotten it from Jack, John and Jacob. I don’t exactly know, or care. Either way, he looked amazing. Very handsome.
“Hi.” I said nervously.
This is the first time I’ve been in this nicely dressed up in front of him, and I waiting for his opinion of me. He was gaping at me, like the rest of the guys, but I couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing. The guys pushed Alec towards me, and then he finally snapped out of his reverie.
Alec took his hand out, palm facing up, asking me to come with him. I gently put my hand in his, and we left. Everyone was standing by the doorway as we left; waving like moms and dads would as we left for prom or something. I smiled at that, this was probably the most normal thing I’d done since, well I can’t remember.
“Where are we going exactly?” I asked, as we were no longer in view of the cottage.
“You’ll have to wait and see.” He said, kissing my hand.
“It daytime here, are we really going to go outside looking like this?” I asked, indicating to how well we were dressed.
“We’re not going to stay here. We’re going back home.” He said, smiling at me.
I forgot we were in China, so we were going back home to the US of A.
“What are we going to do there?” I asked.
“First, we’re going to go back to the pack house, to see everyone. I’m sure they miss you.” He told me.
We’re going back home!! I can’t wait to see Suzy and everyone back home!! I’d missed them.
Before I knew it, we were outside the pack house. I smiled at Alec as we entered the house.
A few gasp came as we entered. I’m not sure if everyone was surprised that we were here and alive, or if what we were wearing was a surprise, probably a bit of both. In a couple minutes everyone was gathered around us. We made our way to the living room, where the stage was set up, as everyone around us started talking.
“I know you guys are all happy to see us, but one at a time please.” Alec smiled at everyone.
“When did Alex wake up?” someone asked.
So they knew I had been in a coma but I bet they didn’t know the whole story.
“Just yesterday, but she’s perfectly healthy and healed.” Alec answered.
“Why are you dress so prettily.” Mary asked.
“We were supposed to go on a date, but we thought we’d pop in here first.” I answered.
This got everyone talking at once again. I rolled my eyes as Alec smiled down at me.
“Now that you see Alex is ok, you guys can go back to what you were doing.” Alec indicated them to leave.
Everyone slowly dispersed. Some of our family and friends came up to us after everyone left.
Suzy, Mary, Jesse, Emily, Joe, and Pam where sitting around with us for a while.
“Big sister!” Suzy yelled, running up to me.
Suzy and Pam were the only two out of the loop here. Mary, Jesse, Emily, and Joe knew exactly what was going on, since they were adults. Everyone under 16 had no clue was what about to occur in a week. The little ones were clueless; we couldn’t let them be scared so we kept them in the dark.
“Hey, Suzy! How are you?” I asked, picking her up and putting her in my lap.
She hugged me and I couldn’t help but miss her. I hadn’t seen her in 3 weeks. It was sad that now I probably wouldn’t see her for at least another week or more.
“I miss you and Drew!” She cried. (In case you forgot, Drew is what Suzy calls Andrew sometimes.)
“I’m sorry, Suzy. Drew and I are working on something. We’ll come back as soon as we’re done. I promise.” I promised to her.
“When will you come back?” She asked, looking up at me.
“I don’t know sweetie.” I said, sadly.
I was so worried about becoming evil that I hadn’t thought about anyone else. I didn’t think anyone else would miss me other than the people that came to visit me. I forgot about Suzy, Sam, Carrie and the rest of the pack. They were now my family, and I’m sure they missed me too, but they couldn’t visit me.
“But Sister and Drew will come back, right?” She asked.
I couldn’t answer that one. I knew Andrew would come back, no doubt, but if I turned evil…I don’t know what I would do.
“It’s getting late here. Isn’t it time for you to go to bed?” I asked, avoiding the question.
“Suzy doesn’t want to go to sleep.” She whined.
“How about I come tuck you in?” I asked.
“Are sister and Drew coming back?” She asked again.
“Suzy, it’s time for bed.” Mary said, taking Suzy away from me.
“NO!! Suzy doesn’t want to go!” Suzy yelled, making a scene.
“Sister come back!” She yelled.
I started crying as Suzy yelled for me. I didn’t know if I would really come back and lying to her would make her upset at me. This was something I couldn’t deal with. Mary and Jesse took Suzy upstairs, crying the whole way there.
“I’m sorry, Alex.” Alec whispered in my ear.
I continued to cry silently, as Emily, Joe and Pam left.
“Are you hungry?” Alec asked.
I was hungry but I couldn’t think about eating when Suzy was wondering when me and Andrew would come back.
“Before we leave, I have to tell Suzy something.” I said, determined.
I wiped the tears out of my eyes as I went upstairs. Bells said not to cry to get my eyes wet, but she had put on waterproof mascara so it didn’t matter either way.
“Can I talk to Suzy please?” I asked.
“Um, sure, come in.” Mary said, letting me in.
I went straight to Suzy’s room. Suzy was lying face down on my bed, crying. It broke my heart to see her like this. Little kids shouldn’t cry, they should be innocent and happy all the time.
“Suzy.” I said softly.
She lifted her head to look at me, and her eyes widened as she sat up.
“Sister!” She yelled, surprised.
I came to sit on her bed with her and she moved away, angry. I sighed, I knew this would happen. I put my index finger on her chin and lifted her face to look at me.
“I'm sorry, Suzy. I can’t tell you when I’ll come back or even if I’ll come back. All I know is that, Drew will definitely come back and that he’ll take really good care of you.” I told her.
“I want sister and Drew!” She whined.
“I’m sorry; there are just some things I can’t tell you just yet. When you’re older either I’ll explain them to you myself or Drew will.” I told her.
I kissed her head, softly. She yawned, tired, and crawled into bed. I tucked her in, and left. At the door, Suzy stopped me.
“Suzy knows sister will come back, with Drew.” She murmured, before falling asleep.
Suzy had faith in me, that I wouldn’t turn evil. She thought I would come back with Andrew for sure and that we’ll be a family forever. She thought this would turn out as a happy ending, how wrong she was.
I let one last tear escape before I left.
Question: Do you or do you not want a sequel? I'm debating whether or not to make a sequel or not, and I'm wavering more towards not. If I get enough comments saying sequel then I might reconsider. Let me know your opinions.
