Nea ran. She ran through the crowded streets, dodging old men, women with too much parfum, giggling teenage girls and a small crying child, while pressing a small package against her chest. Angry screams could be heard behind her, and then a surprised squeek as one of the teenage girls was shoved out of Nea's followers way. The girl tripped and fell but Nea couldn't care less. She speedened up and turned into an alley, smiling triumphally. When her follower, a middle-aged, zangry looking man arrived in said alley, breathing heavily, there wasn't any sign of the white haired, small girl. Grumbling to himself, the man left. Nea giggled in her hiding place. 'That was almost too easy.' she thought to herself while opening the little package with food she just stole from the shop-owner. That was when she heard voices outside her little hiding place. Voices that were coming nearer. She couldn't really understand what they were saying until they stopped by her home. Now she could hear exactly what they were saying and it defenitely was going in a bad direction.

"Hey Mello. What's this?"

'Oh no, please not' she thought.

"What's wha- Oh! Hey! Why's there a curtain hanging on that wall, Matt?"

A sigh was heard.

"I don't know, let's look."

Someone was in front of the curtain that was covering the entry to the hole in the wall in which Nea was sitting. There was barely enough room for one person but it was one of her favorite hiding places, because she was the only one who knew it. Nea hugged her knees tightly, hoping they would go away. But of course they wouldn't.

The curtain was shoved away and revealed the face of a red haired male with a cigarette in his mouth and a psp in one hand. Behind him was standing a blonde boy. Well, at least Nea thought it was a boy, but he had long hair and looked kinda like a flat chested woman. With a chocolate bar in his hand. Then her attention was drawn back to the redhead, because he spoke up: "Mello, there's a girl in the hole in the wall." Nea shifted uncomfortably, while thinking about her chances of getting away. Then she saw the gun in the blonde haired guys other hand and forgot the idea. No way. "I can see that, Matt." The blonde said in an annoyed voice. Neas eyes widened in shock as the the shop-owner appeared again. "There you are, you little rat." he growled. The two males turned around and the older man tried to grab Neas arm. She immediatly jumped out of the hole, dodging the man and hiding behind the redhead since she was still not sure if she could trust the guy with the gun.

He looked slightly surprised but didn't move. Instead he spoke to the shop-owner. "What's this about?" The shop owner gave him a quick look, then his eyes went back to Nea, giving her a death glare. Nea hid more behind the redhead. This would be the perfect moment to run away, if this street hadn't been a deadlock. She sighed and clung onto the boys back, hoping the two would protect her. What was pretty unlikely but whatever. The man answered now and Nea was brought back to reality. "That little rat stole food from my shop." The redhead gave her a questioning look and she blushed and hid her face in his back. He took that as yes and reached into the hole to pull out the little package. Nea was about to protest when she realized she was being watched by the blonde guy. So she stayed still and did nothing but watch as the shop-owner protested that he couldn't sell that stuff anymore and the blonde raised his gun slowly. The shop-owner immerdiatly shut up and left the alley. There was a short silence and Nea was still clunging onto the redheads shirt. Then the blonde spoke up. "Great, now could we please go back home? Why did we help that little thief anyway? This is not our bussiness." She gave him a scared look. Would he kill her now? "Mello, calm down. We can't just leave her here. Can't you see? She's alone. She wouldn't need to steel if she had someone to take care of her." The blonde guy- Mello- sighed. "Of course we can just leave her. Matt, This is not our damn business."

Matt sighed. "We're gonna take her with us." Mello gave him an annoyed look. "What the hell?! No! Why would we! Maybe she do has parents and is just stealing for fun! Anyway, where will she sleep?!" Matt turned around to face Nea who had finally lost hold onto his shirt and was now looking to the ground. "Are you alone?" She continued looking at her feet. "Yes... " she mumbled. "See!" Matt said to the other male. "And she can sleep with me, or on the floor, she's just a child. I bet she's not older than 14." Nea shut her mouth about how she was not a child but seventeen. It was probably better when they thought she was younger. No one would hurt a child, right? "Your problem. But don't you dare ask me for help. You're gonna take care of her alone." Matt sighed and looked at her. "You wanna come with us?" He asked. Nea nodded. Matt smiled and motioned her to follow them. Matt and Nea were walking behind Mello, who was complaining non-stop. After a little silence, Matt decided to start a conversation. "Sooo.. what's your name?" Nea looked up. "Others call me Nea." Matt smiled. "I'm Matt." "Nice to meet you. Thanks for helping me. I won't be a burden, I promise." she said sweetly, giving him a cute smile. "I'm sure you won't." He smiled back. Then they arrived at a plain, high building. "Our apartment is on the fifth floor." Matt stated. Nea nodded and followed them into the building. After several stairs, they were standing in front of a plain door and Mello took out a key and opened it. Nea shyly stepped inside and looked around. Matt let out a nervous laugh. "I know, it's a bit messy..." She gave him a confused look. "Really? I like it. It's nice." He gave her a big smile "That's good. You can sleep in my bed if you don't care." Nea blushed but nodded. "Thank you." "No prob-" he was interrupted by Mello. "Hey, Nea. Can you cook?" Suddenly her eyes started sparkling and a smile spread across her face. "Sure!" she giggled. "Where's the kitchen?" Mello showed her the way and she ran towards the fridge to look inside. "Pasta!" she giggled. "Hell yeah!" screamed Matt from the living room. Nea giggled and pushed Mello out of the kitchen. "Mattie said yes! It's decided. Pastaaa!" She giggled. "Mattie?!" Mello grumbled but Nea had already closed the door, so he joined Matt in the living room. About an half an hour later Nea shoved a plate in front of everyone. "Oh my god! Nea! That tastes so awsome!! Delicious!!" Matt stated. "Yaay, thank you!" she giggled. Even Mello grumbled something about 'Not so bad' and Nea smiled happily. After dinner Mello went to his room, but not without grabbing another chocolate bar. Nea looked after him. "I think he's a nice guy if you get to know him. But you better not be his enemy." Matt smiled. "Yeah, he can be really nice if he wants to." They went to the living room and sat down in front ov the TV. The couch was covered in bottles and rubbish. "Now you know why I didn't offer you to sleep on the couch" Matt sighed as she eyed the couch. Nea giggled, but her attention was drawn back to Matt as he pulled out two controllers. "Wanna play video games?" he grinned. "Yeaaah!" She giggled and grabbed one of the controllers. Matt turned the TV on and the game started. Nea was pretty good, Matt had to admit. Even though she never gets to play video games as an orphan who's living on the street. "Hey Nea. How comes you're so good at playing video games?" he courisously asked her. Nea giggled. "You know, I wasn't an orphan from the beginning. Before my parents died I was living in a big house with them and I had my own room with my own TV and I had a xbox back there. But then they died when I was fourteen and my relatives took all their money from me. They put me in an orphanage. I escaped and since then I'm living on the street." During my explanation Matt had paused the game and he got nearer to my face until his nose was just inches away from mine. "How old are you, Nea?" He asked confused. "When you were fourteen when your parents died you must be at least fifteen or sixteen by now." Nea blushed, he was so close. "I'm seventeen." Matts eyes widened a bit and he came closer. Nea blushed. "M-Matt?" "Yes?" "What are you doing?" "Nea...I'm sorry for calling you a child" Nea smiled. "Oh, it's okay. I'm used to it and sometimes it's good that people think I'm a kid because then they give me food or water." Matt came closer. "But don't you hate being treatened like a kid?" "Well, sometimes it's kinda annoying but there's nothing I can do about it..." she trailed of. "I won't treat you like a child Nea." Nea giggled. "Oh Mattie, It's okay, I-" She was interrupted by his warm lips being placed on hers. She gasped, first she wanted to protest but then she gave into the kiss. His lips were soft and nice and his kiss was incredible. Nea felt like she was flying or something. Matt pulled back and he was just as red as her. "Mattie.." "Nea, I think I love you." Nea blushed. "Mattie, I love you too!"

He chuckled. "Good, and let's go to bed.." She giggled as he picked her up bridal style and carried her to his room. She was thrown on the bed. "Mattie! I have nothing to wear for tonight." "No prob, you can have one of my shirts and tomorrow we'll buy clothes for you." "Yaay" she smiled and grabbed the shirt he just gave her. "Oh, and tomorrow we have to tell Mello." She stopped. "Not yaay?!" Matt laughed "Don't worry, he won't kill us." Nea made a face and formed a gun with her hands to imitate Mello. "You sure about that?" Matt chuckled. "Yes. Now go and change. The bathroom is next door." Nea nodded and skipped to the bathroom. After she changed she went back into Matts room. He was laying in the bed and she crawled under the blanket next to him. Matt wrapped his arms around her and they soon fell asleep.
