We sat quietly in the car, heading to his parents' house. You would think I would be a nervous wreck about the whole meeting your husband's vampire parents and all, but I had met them before and it really didn't bother.
"Babe, I have to confess." Ethan spoke up for the first time in almost four hours. I turned to look at him confused. "I know you'll do awesome, but my parents are very... picky." he said, using his wordings carefully.
"That's alright. Ive met them before, I'm not that different." I said calmly.
"Actually, I paid that couple to act like my parents. I knew they wouldn't accept you. he said, looking at me. My heart went into a frenzy, making me feel nervous.
"This was the best time to say it?" I hissed, sitting up straight and running my hand over my sleek hair. "Do I even look presentable?" I asked, knowing the answer to that. I had put on black skinny jeans, a white low v-neck shirt and a jean jacket with my old and dirty combat boots. I probably looked like some low-class girl trying to impress her future parents-in-law very badly.
"Babe, calm down. I think you look beautiful." he said, taking my hand from his. I gave him a harsh glare before turning to the mirror and putting my hair up. I luckily thought of straightening it and was now glad I did.
"You are my husband and the father of my daughter." I stated, re-applying make up. "You are obligated to say that." He chuckled, moving his hand to my leg. I looked at him, am eyebrow raised.
"I am not obligated to say that. I actually think you look amazing. If you want, we can stop at a store to buy something more of your liking." he suggested. I sighed, rubbing my forehead. I leaned against the seat, closing my eyes for a while.
"I'm fine." I said, opening my eyes. "I just overreacted." I looked in my bag, finding my eyeliner and mascara and put it on. I took a deep breath and then fixed my bangs. "You know what? I think I need a hair cut." I said, looking at him.
He turned to look at me, smiling. "If you want one, I'll take you right now." he said. I shook my head, knowing exactly what he was trying to do.
"We are going to your parents'. I'll get a hair cut later." I said, shoving my bag on the floor. "Will there be anyone we know?" I asked him.
"Yes, Nathaniel will most definitely be there. My father trusts him a lot." he answered. I groaned, mentally slapping myself for ever even liking him. He gave me a small squeeze, letting me know everything was going to be fine.
"I'm scared." I admitted, hating the way my voice sounded.
"I'll there for you." he said, looking at me slightly. "I promise." I smiled at him, moving in my seat so I faced him completely.
"I love you." I said, kissing him on the jaw. He hummed in response and turned in a dirt road. I looked back at Indy, who was still sleeping.
"I love you too." he said, after a minute of silence. I sat back, anticipating every second that past. "When we leave, I will take both of you anywhere you'd like to go." he said, his face glowing brightly.
"Let's go on a cruise. I've never been on a boat." I admitted, smiling at him. He looked at me from the corner of his eye, making my heart skip a beat and then sprint in my chest. My face started heating up and I turned to the window.
"A cruise it is." he spoke softly, his voice sweet as ever. "We're here." he said, making the car go into a complete stop. I looked up, noting the big, Victorian house in front of us. I turned in my seat, shaking Indy.
"Wake up baby, time to meet grandma and grandpa." I said softly. She opened her bright blue eyes and looked at me, a smile growing on her face. I undid her seat belt and helped her get out of the car seat.
Ethan had opened the door and helped her get, looking at me. "If you go into that position a lot more often, I won't be able to keep my hands off your ass." he said huskily.
I felt my eyes widen and my face grow hotter. "Ethan!" I exclaimed, sitting back down. He laughed, closing the door and walking to my door with Indy behind him. I got out, hands on my hips.
"I love teasing you." he said, kissing me.
"Get a room." yelled Indy. I pulled away laughing, and grabbed Ethan's arm. I rested my head against his shoulder and followed after him.
The door opened, revealing an older couple. We had stopped walking and stared at them, watching as the watched us. The woman smiled, descending from the stairs and hugging Ethan. She had blond hair pulled up in a bun, she had fair skin and her eyes were a light blue and she was a small woman.
"Mother." he said, moving his arm from my hold and hugging his mother.
"Oh, my dear son. It's so good to see you." she said, her voice a little shaky with emotion. She then turned to me, her smile never failing. "You must be Nia." she said, pulling me into tight hug.
"Yes, that's me. It's so very good to finally meet you Mrs. Oscars." I said, hugging her back. She pulled away, her blue eyes shinning.
"Oh honey, call me Sarah. And it's good to meet you. I see why he fell for you." she said softly, cupping my cheek. Indy grasped my hand, hiding behind me. I looked away from Sarah and smiled down at her.
"Hey sweetie, this is grandma." I said, moving her in front of me. I heard Sarah gasp and I looked at her, worried.
"Oh my, she's beautiful." she said, crouching down to be at eye-level with her granddaughter. I smiled, looking at Ethan as he sighed in relief. "She has your eyes and her hair." she exclaimed, looking us.
"I'm Indiana, but momma and daddy call me Indy." she said, taking a step closer to Sarah. Sarah opened her arms, letting Indy embrace her slowly.
"It's good to meet you Indy." she said, kissing her cheek. Indy pulled away, a smile on her face.
"You too." she said, holding my hand again. She looked up at me, her eyes bright with happiness.
"I'll get your father dear." Sarah said, walking back to the man at the door. Ethan pulled me closer to him, kissing my forehead.
"That went well. Now we have to get dad's approval. We'll definitely with him over with Indy's smile." he said, taking Indy and pulling her up. Indy nodded, huggin him around his neck.
"You're mother is very nice." I said softly, looking at the two most important people in my life. He caressed my cheek with his thumb, pulling me into the hug.
"I know you miss your mom Nia." he said, looking into my eyes. I could feel my eyes sting as tears starting forming in the memory of my mother.
"Yeah, I do." I whispered. Indy wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tightly. I smiled, huggin her back.
"Here he comes." Ethan breathed out nervously.
"We got this, right Indy?" I said, looking at my daughter. She nodded, making her face all serious and making us laugh.
I placed her on the ground, keeping her close to me. I watched as his father walked towards us, his eyes never leaving me. He stopped right in front of us and I instantly saw where Ethan got his good looks from. His father was a very handsome man and an older version of Ethan.
His hair was a dark brown, his eyes brught blue and he had broad shoulders. He was tall, making Sarah look even smaller and I smiled at the thought that I probably looked the same.
"Ethan." he said, his voice deep and full of authority. Ethan stepped forward, giving his father and awkward hug. The man put a hand on Ethan's shoulder as he pulled away, taking in his son's physical appearance, his face growing soft.
He then turned to me, his eyes hard as stone. He narrowed his eyes, not even talking to me and turned to Indy. "You must be Indiana, my son's beautiful daughter." he said, smiling a little. Even though it didn't reach his eyes, it was a beautiful sight.
Indy nodded, holding my hand tighter. He didn't let that pass, as he glared up at me.
"Nia." he said, making my name sound like something dirty. I gave him a small nod, not truting my voice. "Give me a good reason to not kill you right now." he said, his voice harsh.
I looked at him surprised. He looked at me, waiting for an answer. I could feel anger rising inside me and I looked at the ground. "Don't look away from me." he said, slapping me.
I let go of Indy and glared at him. "Don't ever touch me like that again." I said, through gritted teeth. He stood, narrowing his eyes even more. He chuckled, his eyes cold.
"I am the king, and last time I checked, you are a worthless human." he replied, grabbing me by the collar of the shirt, pulling me closer to him.
"Father, don't." Ethan said, his voice filled with pain.
"You know, I'm kinda glad the only thing your son got from you was the looks, If he had gotten you attitude, I would have left him a long time ago." I said, putting my hand on his wrist. My anger made me see red and then Indy laughed.
We all looked at her. "Let go of her." she said. She looked at her grandfather in amusement. "She can burn you." she walked to Ethan's side and he pulled her up.
"What is she talking about?" he asked, his grip only tightening.
"She means that Nia isn't a human. She is a Royal True Blood." Ethan said. His father gasped, letting go of me and taking a step backwards. I smirked, enjoying the feeling of being powerful for once.
"Now, do as I say." I said amused with the reaction I got. He fell back, his eyes filled with fear.
"Anything you want." he said.
I walked to Ethan and placed my arm on his. "Make all your little vampires leave me and my family alone. That's all that I ask." I said.
"You won't take the throne?" he asked me, obviously confused about what I wanted.
I shook my head, not looking away from Ethan's stare. "I have everything I need with Ethan." I faced him. "Now get up." I ordered. He stood up, looking surprised at the sudden change of voice. "Bring me Danny. I need to have a word with her."
