------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Camila's POV:

I sat in my seat with my plate of food in front of me, gently pushing the pieces of meat with my fork. Everyone else was conversing with each other happily.

"Camz," Lauren grabbed my attention with a nudge.

I looked up from my plate to see that everyone was looking at me.

"I'm sorry. What was it you were saying?"

"We were just discussing the details on the next event the management signed you all up for," Will explained. "Is everything all right, Camila?"

"Yeah, sorry. I'm just tired. Food coma, I guess," I replied.

"Food coma?" Will questioned, eyeing the plate in front of me. "Maybe we should call it a night then."

I quickly agreed along with the other girls since they knew that I wasn't myself at the moment.

"Camila, wait up," Ally called out for me as we all started to head out.

"Camila," Dinah held onto my wrist before I was able to walk out myself. "Wait." She signaled the bodyguards who were getting situated and ready.

"I just want to get out of here," I pulled away.

"So you can hole yourself in again? So you can slowly lose yourself into depression?" Dinah said.

"I wasn't-"

"Bullshit, Mila. We know you better than you would like to think," Normani rolled her eyes. "And I'm betting you still think that you can deal with this all by yourself? Whatever THIS is. The lone wolf motto you have somehow adopted through the years. We used to be each other's ears when we needed someone to listen. We used be each other's shoulder to cry on. And we still are. We're here for you, Mila."

All the girls had shown and told me of their love. I knew that they all meant well so I might as well listen to their wise words.

This was too much for me to handle.

"I learned something," I sighed. I could already feel the burn of my tears from behind my eyes. "I always wondered who was so blessed and lucky to have my Sofi's heart. I always wanted to know what this person was doing with their second chance."

The girls looked to each other before I continued on.

"I wanted to believe that this person was just wasting away so that I could be angry at them. Hate them even. I just want to hate them so bad for taking away Sofi from me. But I can't and I feel like I am betraying Sofi because of it."

Again the girls gave each other a knowing look, which caused me to know that they were hiding something from me. We used to do that with every little secret we carried during interviews and now they were doing it to me.

"What?" I looked to them. None could catch my eye so I turned to the only one I could truly trust with the truth. "Lo."

She looked away and down to the ground when my eyes locked onto hers.

That was all I needed to know.

"You all knew," My eyes turned to a glare once realization set in.

They nodded with guilt written all over their faces.

"I can't believe you all."

Right on time, we got the signal from our security team that the coast was clear for us to leave the restaurant. So I bolted out of the door and away from my so-called sisters from another mister.

"Camz," Lauren followed close behind while the others were held up by the paparazzi and dedicated fans that had waited for our exit. "Camz, wait up. Let me explain."

"Explain? All right then. Explain. Explain to me how my so-called friends... No. My BEST friends could hold something such as this from me. Explain how you all could betray me like this," I shouted through the chaos grabbing the attention from the surrounding paps.

"Oh, how about the fact that you knew and you still LET me fall for her. Fall for the one person that I should hate in the whole entire world. You just allowed me to dig myself deeper and deeper into something that could never happen."

"Camz, I'm sorry. We didn't know-"

"No," I turned to her with rage. "You all chose the easy way out when not telling me. You chose to hide this from me knowing full well that this would lead me to heart-break."

"It wasn't like that, Camz."

"Tell it to someone who gives a shit," I shouted before making a run for it across the street in hopes of freedom.

I could hear the shouts from the girls and the vultures we called paparazzi, but I simply ignored them as I made my way to the middle of the street. I needed to get away from the paps. Mainly, I needed to get away from the girls.

I was in the middle of the street, taking my time to fume with my emotions. There were no cars around at this time so I didn't really care. I just wanted to bask in the late night air.

I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings until I felt a pair of hands shove me off to the side. I stumbled a bit before fully falling onto the ground landing on my butt.

"Watch it," I said right before I heard it.

The metal colliding with something, someone, not so metal. Someone I quickly realized when I looked up as I watch them fly over the car and tumble to the ground. The person laid on their side as the car responsible just zoomed right passed.

Piece of trash douche bag. (A/N: This is how I felt when someone actually did that to my friend. People who do hit-and-runs are cowards who can't face the consequences.)

I heard the gasping and gurgling coming from the fragile and broken body. Still I couldn't see their face but I could feel something in me that felt broken as well. Sympathy?

"Walz," Dinah rushed over along with the others. Thankfully the security guards were able to hold the paparazzi and fans at bay while we took hold of the situation.

"Camz," Lauren called out to grab my attention away from the mangled body. "Are you okay?"

I couldn't answer. I just watched as a group of three rushed from the other side of the street with haste to the body. Cries and wails had echoed through the night air as the woman desperately called out for a response.

Nothing was responded however. Just undefined gurgles.

"No, no, no," The woman continued to cry out. "Please, God, please not again."

She was already knelt down next to the body, her head close to the top portion. Her cries continued to be ringing through my ears. She moved to cradle the body closer to her but a man had stepped closer to stop her.

"Charlotte," A familiar voice halted her from continuing. "Don't. The ambulance is on the way. It is best not to move her before they get here."

We all looked up in shock as we stared at the man in front of us.

It couldn't be. It shouldn't be.

Charlie.

"Oh no," Ally gasped once realization had dawned on her. On all of us.

I didn't have to see the face to know who laid on the floor.

[...]

It was all a blur.

I remembered the ambulance. The bright red and blue lights shining bright through the dark night. I remembered the paramedics having to tear away Mrs. McKenzie from Alex's body. Alex's bloody, broken, motionless, barely breathing body. I remembered them moving her body off the ground and into the ambulance. I remembered the stain she left behind on the ground.

I remembered it all.

"Come on, let's go," Normani dragged us all into the car with her, immediately telling the driver the hospital we were to go to.

"Camz," Lauren tightened her hold on my hand as we sat silently in the car.

I didn't answer though. I was too much in a daze. I just thought back to the just a couple of hours ago.

Alex.

Alex was there.

Alex was the one that saw the incoming car.

Alex was the one that pushed me aside.

Alex was the one that saved my life.

Alex was the one that risked her life.

"Mila."

Gosh, I was so out of it that I didn't notice the bright lights of the hospital. It wasn't until the car stopped moving and the car door opened that I realized it. Normani stood there while the other three went in to find out where to go.

This whole situation was too close to comfort. It was already bringing back the unwanted memories.

"They placed her in a private wing. We're allowed entrance," Ally said coming back to us.

The three then led the way while Normani stayed close to me. Hand still tight together. We were so close that I could actually hear her heart beating fast as we continued down the hall.

At least I wasn't the only one feeling nervous and scared.

"Charlie," Ally rushed over to his as he stood in the hallway. "Charlie, how is she?"

Charlie turned to us, not showing any surprise that we were here. He did, however, turn to me sadly before turning to the others to address the question at hand.

"It's too soon to tell. The doctors took her in surgery right when she got here. They haven't come out since then," He stated with as much calmness that he could muster.

I was sure this was tough on him. Most likely triple to the feelings that we were all feeling. This was his second time that he had deal with this kind of tragedy. The second time someone he cared for, he loved, was fighting for their life.

"Excuse me."

A doctor with a full on scrub get-up appeared through the wide doors and I couldn't help but take notice to the amount of blood that he was covered with.

It was just so much.

"Oh god," I heard Normani whispered under her breath before turning away.

The sight was just too much for all of us. The doctor didn't even need to say anything.

"Doctor, what's going on? How is she?" Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie came out of the waiting room and rushed to the doctor.

"I'm not going to sugar coat this or beat around the bush. You're daughter's injuries would be tremendous to anyone who has been involved in such an accident like this but..." Buts. Buts were never good when it came to news from doctors. "But seeing how she was involved in a serious accident prior to this incident, it is a bit more delicate and severe. Old injuries have reopened and are causing more bleeding than we expected. It's hard to see any other damage because of the blood so right now the main focus for us is to stop the bleeding before-"

"Before what?" Charlie pushed anxiously. His usual cool demeanor slowly dissolving by the second.

"Before she bleeds out."

"No," Mrs. McKenzie clung to her husband as the news continued to give her more grief and pain.

"We're doing everything we can, Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie."

With that the doctor walked back into the wide doors and closed it behind us leaving us to our sorrows. The cries continued to come from not only Mrs. McKenzie but also the girls. They were all sad by the news and possible outcome. We all were. But one.

Mrs. McKenzie.

Instead, she now harbored a different grief emotion. Anger. And that anger was towards me.

"You," She seethed. I clutched tighter onto Normani's hand. "You're the reason why she is in this mess all over again. You're the reason why she is on that table. Bleeding out."

"Charlotte, please," Her husband tried to keep her away but she pushed him away and came closer to me in rage. Her nose almost touching mine as her eyes sent angry lasers down to me.

"She's getting revenge on us. She's making our daughter pay for our sins. Now she's pretending remorse. Rubbing it in our faces that she is alive and our daughter is fighting for her life."

"That's not-"

"She broke our daughter's heart. She didn't even give her chance to explain her side of the story. So why care now, huh? Why show compassion when you didn't show an ounce before?" She glared.

"That's not true. I do care," I mumbled, shrinking into Normani's comfort. Normani was glaring herself towards the older woman.

"Oh bull," Mrs. McKenzie challenged.

"Charlotte."

"She should be on that operation table. Not our daughter. Not Alex."

Slap.

Normani's hand still held up after the quickening speed. It was now Normani's turn to show her anger towards the woman.

"Mani," Ally gasped at the scene before her.

"Look, I am sorry for what you have gone through and what Alex is going through right now. I would not wish that upon any of my enemies. But you should not blame this one Camila of all people," Normani started. "Alex would have done that for anyone because that is who she is. She is someone who would sacrifice her life for someone else because they would want to give anyone a second chance. She wanted to save Camila. She wanted to do good. So don't take away the good that Alex has done just because of your own guilt."

Mrs. McKenzie was surprised by the slap but she didn't retaliate for it. Instead, after hearing what Normani had to say, she stormed out of the room and out of the hall. You could hear her cries down the hall.

"I'm sorry," Mr. McKenzie said before running off to console his wife.

He left us after than and it was only the girls and I along with Charlie left in the room.

"Let's just sit over here," Ally guided all of us in our own little corner.

Ally took a hold of my free hand while we sat together. My other hand was still wrapped tightly around Normani's protective one. Dinah was looking over Normani's other hand to see any harm done by the slap. Lauren stayed on Dinah's side to huddle up to it.

"She'll be alright, Mila," Ally whispered to me.

"How do you know?" I argued quietly.

"Because she'a fighter, Mila. She'll get through this like she always does," Normani joined in.

"That's the thing. Fighter's don't always win," I replied. My eyes slowly closing and letting in the needed sleep.

"Hey Charlie."

I awoke to notice that everyone else was still fast asleep. Everyone other than Charlie. Instead he was walking towards the doctor, carefully enough not to wake anyone else.

"What's the news?" He asked in a hushed tone.

The doctor shook his head which caused Charlie to walk off with him a little more out of the room. Though they walked away from the room, I was still able to see them in my sleeping position. I could see their mouths moving. I could see their expressions they were showing. Mainly. I could see Charlie's expressions.

Before showing a calm and collected face, now showed despair and hopelessness as he nodded to everything the doctor was telling him. I saw as each sentence the doctor was telling Charlie continued to break down Charlie's cool demeanor. And for the first time since i have known Charlie, I saw him starting to break down.

The doctor soon left Charlie to tend to something else and after the doctor had left, Charlie had collapsed. He had fallen to his knees and covered his face with his hands as his shoulder continued to shake with his tears.

I slowly stood up, making sure not to wake up Ally or Normani who were still clinging to my side. Once I was released, I walked over to Charlie quietly kneeling down near him and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

He instantly stopped his crying and tried his best to subside them when he turned towards me. I could see his blood shot eyes, the stains that the tears had left on his cheeks.

"What did he say?" I asked, fearing of the answer.

Charlie wiped away the remaining tears and tried his best to clear his throat, trying his best to look like the usual composed Charlie. But that wasn't the case. He wasn't the usual Charlie I was so used to seeing.

He was broken.

"They were able to stop the bleeding," He said while standing up. I assisted due to the fact that his body was weakened by his sorrow. "But she lost too much in the process causing her organs to collapse." And once again tears started to flood his face. "She flat-lined. 20 seconds she was unresponsive. Dead."

Oh god.

"But they were able to bring her back to finish up the surgery. But that's not the end of it. Her body is slowly failing her. Organs are collapsing. The only things keeping her alive now are those damn machines they have hooked her up on."

No. Please. Don't say it.

"There's not much they could now. No surgeries could save her. The doctors believe that she won't make it passed today."

Oh god. No.

"They're cleaning up the operating room so we could go in to say goodbye."

I shook my head, unable to soak in the information I was given. I couldn't believe it. So I ran. I left Charlie to give the others the news while I went to find a place that wasn't caving into me.

Taking refuge in a bathroom down the hall, I locked the door and leaned on it. Taking deep breaths to calm myself. It wasn't working so I walked over to the sink and splashed my face a couple of times with water but no matter how many times I washed my face, the tears still stained it.

"You are definitely beautiful."

I turned around quickly and looked to the young man in front of me, having to hold onto the sink due to shock. This couldn't be happening.

"I could see how she had fallen for you." I continued to look in shock as the man walked closer to me. "What? Alex got your tongue?"

"Eww, that's just gross."

And there it was. The one person that I have missed so much. "Don't talk about my sister like that."

"Sof."

"Hey Kaks," She smiled up at me.

"This... How?" I muttered. "This can't be happening. You can't be here. Both of you."

"Ah, she's in the denial stage," Tyler leaned up against the wall, a smirk gracing his nicely chiseled face. "Should I walk through a wall just to show?"

"Stop it, Tyler," Sofi scolded before turning to me. "It's happening, Kaks. This is real. Remember the first time I appeared to you," Sofi pointed out.

"Yeah... I just-.. I thought you were just a figment of my imagination. My subconscious to remind me that everything will be fine," I stated.

"Sorry, love. I'm nobody's imagination," Tyler shook his head. "And sorry to break it to you, but nothing is ever fine. Just manageable. Like this situation. Alex is out of surgery with the worst condition to think of, dying."

"How is that manageable? She's DYING," I glared at Alex's previous lover. "That is NOT manageable."

"Sorry, Kaks, it's just way it was supposed to be," Sofi stated sadly.

"The way it was supposed to be?" I looked to her in confusion. "YOU'RE the one that wanted to save her. And now you want her to die. Saying that your sacrifice was all for nothing."

"Not all for nothing," Tyler pointed out. "She saved you. Your own death was stopped."

"She was saved so she could save you," Sofi added.

"Fate has a funny way of working, huh," Tyler dryly laughed. "At least she'll have us."

"No," I said with affirmation. "She's not going to die."

"Not your choice, love."

"I'm sorry, Kaks."

"No," I said once more before storming out of the bathroom.

Screw fate or destiny. This wasn't a plan that I was going to stand by and watch go through. We made our own fate and I was going to prove them wrong.

[...]

"Mila," Ally stood up from her seat. "Big Rob is out looking for you. We thought you had run off."

"Where's the others?" I asked noticing how empty the room was now since I had run off.

"Oh," Ally's face had fallen. "Uhm, Lauren's in the operating room with Charlie. Normani and Dinah had gone previously so they are eating their feelings in the cafeteria."

"Did you-"

"Go in?" Ally finished my question for me. "Yeah. I went in after the parents. I went in with Charlie but he stayed throughout."

"Is she awake?"

Ally shook her head. "No, she's in an induced coma. The doctors said they doubt she will ever wake up before... They don't think she'll wake up."

Awkward pause as she fidgeted with her hands. "Do you think you'll go in?"

"Yeah," I nodded. "I think I'll wait til they get out."

"Oh," Ally jumped. "I'll go tell them. Charlie just didn't want to leave Alex by herself. Lauren didn't want to leave Charlie in his state alone. I'll be right back."

"Wait," I shouted to stop her. "And you're gone." I sighed.

[...]

I stood in the cold, chill giving room. I could literally see my breath as I exhaled. The only sound in the room was the sound of the machines beeping to her steady breathing.

God did she look pale.

Her usual glow was gone from her skin.

"Hey there Alex," I said in a soft tone as I walked closer to the table she was laid upon. "God, why am I even here? You can't hear me."

"She can," Sofi startled me from the other side of Alex. Tyler beside her as he looked down upon Alex with a sad expression on his face. "I heard you when you said goodbye to me. And she could hear you now to say your goodbye."

"I'm not here to say goodbye," I huffed.

"Well then, what are you here for, love?" Tyler glared. "Stop playing games here, Cabello. If you don't want to say goodbye to her, then leave. Don't waste her final times here with someone who doesn't care for her."

"I do care for her," I defended.

"Oh, yeah? Then prove it. Say goodbye to her and let her go in peace," Tyler demanded. "She belongs here with me."

"No she doesn't," I shot back. "She belongs here on her earth. With her family. With Charlie. With us."

Tyler scoffed, "She belongs with someone who loves her."

"I love her," I confessed.

Silence filled the room while I stared at the two. Their face slowly revealing a knowing smile.

"Then show it," Tyler smirked before dissipating into thin air.

Sofi smiled up at me.

"Knew you had it in you," she said. "I'll be watching over you, Kaks."

She started to dissipated as well and soon it was just Alex and I in the room.

"Well," I started off. "There. You heard it, Alex. I. Love. You."

I sat on the chair and grabbed onto her hand. Her cold, cold hand. I held it close to my lips and breathed in deep air to warm them up.

"You know what that means, right? That means you can't leave me," I declared. "And you know why? Because," I smiled down at her, happy to have this out in the open. "You have my heart. So please, don't leave me. I don't think I can survive this world without you."

Beeeeeeeeeeeeppppppp.

I looked up in fear and saw that her heart monitor showed that dreaded line.

"No," I shouted. "No, no, no. Alex, you can't do this. You can't die on me," I cried out. I leaned down and thought of the only solution.

I opened up her mouth gently with my hand and pressed my lips tightly onto hers. The softness of her lips distracted me at the task at hand but quickly regained my focus when the beeping sounded through my ear.

I breathed in deeply and exhaled into her mouth. I pulled away and started to do the compression I was taught a long time ago. Nothing. So I did it again, but was interrupted when doctors filled the room, pushing me to the side.

"Please, help her," I begged as I watched from the side. Tears rushing down my face.

"She's codding," A doctor alerted. "Get me the defibrillator."

I watched as her body bolted up to the shock going into her. I saw as the doctors continued to get her stable again.

"We're losing her," Another doctor exclaimed.

I looked up through my glossy eyes and saw Tyler reappear at the side of Alex. He looked calm as he saw the scene before him. When he looked up at me, he smiled and sent me a wink.

"It's time I gave her back something," he said before reaching into his chest.

He tensed as he pulled out a piece of his heart. Pain showing in his usual cocky face. He looked to me before looking down to Alex. He slowly leaned down to her and the piece of his heart resting on her chest.

"Live well, McKenzie. I'll always love you," he said as he kissed her gently on the lips.

The heart glowing red as it fell down into her chest.

"Wh-what-"

"She doesn't need me anymore," He stated sadly. "It's time for her to move on. Be good to her, Cabello. I'll be watching."

Tyler once again disappeared. And when he was finally gone, something changed in the room.

Warmth.

Alex bolted up, gasping for air desperately.

"Alex," I cried out.

The doctors were flabbergasted as everything started to slowly go back to normal. Her heart rate going back to a steady pace.

Everything was going to be fine.

[...]

"I'm never going to leave your side," Mrs. McKenzie pledged as she continued to hug her recovering daughter.

"Mom, stop," Alex chuckled lightly. "What about the company?"

"I'll be taking reign," Charlie declared. "It'll be nice to have a break from traveling. It'll be nice to stay in one place for once."

The room laughed.

"You won't be alone," Mr. McKenzie stated. "I'll fly your family in to stay with you."

"You don't-"

"I insist."

I continued to just stare in awe at a living and breathing Alex. She got back her glowing skin and radiant smile.

Alex turned to me and locked eyes. She sent me a smile and looked to everyone again.

"Uhm, can I have a few minutes? Please?"

The girls sent me a wink before leaving the room with Charlie. Her parents were diligent to leave but eventually did. Her mother smiling over to me while she closed the door.

"And then there were two," I joked as I swayed back and forth on my feet.

"Come here," She said with a new look on her face. Passion and love emitting through.

I did as I was told and walked over to the seat her mother once occupied. She laughed and shook her head.

"Here," She patted the spot right next to her on the bed. I started to shake my head, fear of her hurting her if I did. "You won't hurt me, Camila. Come here," she repeated.

I sat slowly beside her and settled in. Our faces nearly touching as we laid down on the bed. I could feel her breath hitting my face.

"Thank you," she said after a while of silence.

"For what?" My face scrunched up in confusion.

"For saving me," She smiled as she caressed my cheek with her hand.

I leaned into her touch, savoring the warmth she now provided.

"I think you have that the other way around," I chuckled at her. "You're the one that saved me."

"Eh, that was nothing," She shrugged causing us to chuckle. "You're the one that pulled me back." She whispered this time as we neared each other. "You're the one that I heard." Her gaze locking onto my eyes. "You're the one that brought me life."

She slowly closed the distance and met my lips gently. I moved with her slowly. Our lips syncing in motion. Her breath filling my lungs.

I reveled in the feeling of her lips on mine. I reveled in the touch of her hand to my waist. I reveled in the way her body was pushed against mine.

"Finally."

We broke apart quickly. Her hand still resting on my waist as we looked to the intruder. Or shall I say. Intruders.

Ally and Lauren stood in the center while Normani and Dinah did a little dance on the side. Charlie stood in the back with a smile on his face while her parents stood beside him. A smile sent from the both of them.

"Do you know how long we have been waiting for this?" Dinah stated.

"FOR-EVE-R," Normani exaggerated.

"We're so happy you're together," Ally squealed.

"Finally," Charlie smiled.

"Finally," Alex repeated.

I looked to her and her eyes glinted with happiness.

"Finally," I smiled.

We leaned in and kissed each other. We pulled away and leaned our foreheads together.

Our hearts completed each other's.

We were finally whole.
