Chapter 11- The BIG Move
The next two weeks seemed to fly by. It was moving day. Elizabeth went over to Jake's house. She could feel the sadness build inside of her when she saw the U-Haul van parked in their driveway. She walked up to the front steps and stood there remembering her first kiss. Jake stepped out his front door and grabbed her hands. Then he recreated the moment that happened almost four year ago, by kissing her lightly. He continued holding her hand and led her into his very empty house. Elizabeth looked around at the empty rooms and plain walls and began to cry. She sat down on the floor where Jake joined her. He put his arm around her and kissed her forehead. They just sat there in silence, until Jake's mom interrupted them. "Jake honey, you need to tell Elizabeth goodbye. We have to go." Mrs. Williams's cheeks were black from her mascara. Elizabeth knew not to fight leaving, moving was like removing a band aid, it had to be done quickly.
"Well, bye Elizabeth." Jake said softly. "Bye Jake, I'll miss you." Elizabeth wiped her eyes and threw her arms around Jakes waist and wouldn't let go. "I'll miss you too." Jake said still holding onto his first love. Elizabeth pulled away, "I'm Sure you'll have butt-loads of fun with Paige." Elizabeth tried to sound cheerful, but knew it came out lame. "I'm sure I will." Jake smiled.
Jake looked around his house and smiled. Elizabeth didn't know how he could hold back the tears. The couple stepped out of the house and shut the door. Jake kissed his girlfriend as if it was the last time they would ever see each other, and then he hugged her and whispered in her ear, "I love you". Elizabeth's sorrow grew even larger. She couldn't help the heavy flow of tears now falling down her cheeks and neck. They walked to the driveway, where they found Paige eagerly waiting. "Jake...Hi!" She called out making sure they knew she was there. "Hi Paige." Jake replied, forcing a smile on his face. "We are going to be riding together...All the way to Rhode Island!" Paige said glaring at Elizabeth. "Oh, joy!" Jake turned to Elizabeth who let out a giggle.
"Jake hurry up!" Jake's impatient mother called out. "Alright!" He yelled back then looked at Elizabeth, "Bye Lizzy." Elizabeth swallowed hard, "Bye Jake." Not wanting to face reality, she looked at the ground.
Jake got into his car and started it up. He rolled down the window and Elizabeth ran to him. Making sure Paige could see, she KISSED her boyfriend like there was no tomorrow. "I'll see you in two weeks. I love you." She gave him a light peck and waved as the Williams, Jake and Paige, and the movers drove down the street.
After standing there for a while, Elizabeth walked to Sammy's car, which she borrowed...without asking. She drove to Annie's house, walked up to her best friend's room, and stood in the doorway. Annie got up and gave Elizabeth a giant hug. Elizabeth continued hugging Annie and eventually rested her head on her friends shoulder and just cried. She stayed in that position a while before lying down on Annie's bed and falling asleep.
She woke up several hours later to Annie sitting next to her, watching. "Good Morning Starshine, The earth says hello." Annie greeted. Elizabeth started laughing; she reached for her phone and saw she had four new texts. She read the first one.
ESA_LUVA: Hey! UGH! Paige is driving me crazy!
Elizabeth laughed and read the second one.
ESA_LUVA: Hey Lizzy. I've been driving for about an hour with this nut job. Miss ya. <3 ya!
Woah he sent this a while ago.
Fity-brent: what's this I hear about camping- I have a chess tournament that week. =)

"Annie you're a freak!" Elizabeth yelled. "Oh My God what time is it?" Elizabeth looked at her cell phone it was 7:45 am. "Why didn't you wake me up last night?" Elizabeth was freaking out. "Chill Lizzy, I called your mom. She said you could stay the night." Elizabeth sighed. "Thank you. Wait why are you up so early?" Annie smiled, "You woke me up. You were crying." "Sorry." Elizabeth's smile turned into a frown. Elizabeth walked to her and hugged her. "It's okay. That's what I'm for. So what do you want to do?" Annie smiled. "Hey Annie, its Ty." Ty called from the other side of the door. "Oh hey, you can come in!" Annie called back. AAAAHHHH its Ty...what if this encounter is weird? Elizabeth thought. "Oh...Hey Elizabeth, how are you?" Elizabeth smiled and shrugged. "Did Jake leave yesterday?" Ty asked trying not to upset the tender girl. Elizabeth sighed, "Yeah yesterday, it was sad." "Well would you girls like to grab a bite to eat?" YES YES YES!!! "At seven o'clock in the morning?" Annie looked at Elizabeth, "Sure why not?" Ty smiled and the girls grabbed their stuff and walked to Ty's car.
Elizabeth, Annie, and Ty arrived at Denny's around eight o'clock. A young scraggly teen took them to a booth in the corner of the rectangular restaurant. Once they placed their orders Elizabeth went to the bathroom. When she returned Annie had to use the restroom. "Elizabeth, do you want to go to the bathroom with me?" Annie asked. Ty tilted his head, "She just went, why would she want to go again?" Annie gave him the classing eye roll and walk away trying to imitate a supermodel.
"So Lizzy, or do people not call you Lizzy anymore?" Elizabeth giggled, "Only special people call Lizzy." Ty nodded, "Well...am I special?" "If you want to be special." Elizabeth smiled, and Annie sat down next to her brother. As they ate they talked about the upcoming camping trip. Once they finished Ty paid the bill, left a tip on the table and left.
Ty dropped Elizabeth off at her house, and continued on back to Annie's house. Elizabeth walked into her house where her mom was sitting at a table with a cake. "Hello Elizabeth, I have some news to tell you." "Is everything alright? Are we moving?" Elizabeth sat next to her mom. "Well dear, you're not moving, but your father and I are." "WHAT?" Elizabeth screamed. "Your father's business is expanding in Germany, and his boss asked him to be the project manager. He couldn't turn this one down; if he takes this job we can retire when he gets back. Plus why should we give up a free trip to Germany." Karen tried to explain. "Yeah, well you won't be there long will you?" "Only six months to a year." Karen smiled. Elizabeth stood up, "Oh don't worry! It's not like your home ANYWAY!!!!" Elizabeth gave her mom the dirtiest look in her repertory. Karen sighed, "Well you see, that's not all." Elizabeth rolled her eyes, "What are you pregnant too?" Karen nodded. Elizabeth's jaw dropped. She shook her head and then ran to her room and slammed her door. Elizabeth grabbed her sidekick out of her purse and dialed Annie's cell phone. "Hey Lizzy, haven't talked to you in forever." "OH MY GOD, What the hell is she thinking? She already has three kids, the oldest in her twenties. Does she want her granddaughter that's like a few minutes younger than her aunt?" "What are you talking about?" Annie asked as if she missed the funniest joke in the world. "Ugh- my mom and dad are moving to Germany AND having a baby...in four freaking months!!!" Elizabeth screamed to her bff. "Woah, well at least she won't be up your butt for the next year." Annie tried to sound cheery, but knew nothing she said would make Elizabeth happy. "Yeah SHE won't be up my butt, but Sammy WILL!" "I'm sorry...you can chill with me like everyday!" Elizabeth sighed, "Hold on, I have another call. I'll call you later." Elizabeth switched to her sister who was on the other line. "Hello?" "Hey Lizzy, do you want to go out for coffee?" Jessica asked. "Sure, pick me up in twenty?" Elizabeth replied. "Sure see you then. Love you." "Okay bye" Elizabeth and Jessica hung up and Elizabeth changed into something more suitable for getting coffee with her older sister who would probably be in a stylish knee length dress. She slipped into a chocolate and tan calf length skirt and a lacey pink tank top from Abercrombie and Fitch. She looked through her walk in shoe closet to find cute heels to complete her outfit. Elizabeth fixed her makeup, and went to her nightstand so she could put her phone in her chocolate hobo bag and meet Jessica outside.
As Elizabeth walked down the stairs she heard the doorbell. "Got it!" She yelled. She opened the door to a slightly chunky Jessica. Putting on weight are we Jess? Elizabeth wanted to say really bad but held back for she didn't want to upset her sister BEFORE she took her out. Elizabeth hugged her sister and they walked out to Jessica's car. "So how's Jake?" Jessica asked. Elizabeth looked out the window and took a deep breathe, "He's okay I guess, he started moving yesterday." Jessica nodded.
Once the girls got their coffee they sat in red and brown disk chairs. "Why did you want to bring me here?" Elizabeth asked then took a sip of her low fat cappuccino. "Funny you should ask that. Well I brought you here so I could ask you to be the godmother of my baby when she or he is born." Jessica rubbed the rim of her coffee cup. "Yeah sure...Wait- are you having a baby?" Jessica nodded, "Yeah, I found out about three months ago." Elizabeth smiled, "Why didn't you tell me?" "The only person I told was Sean, but I didn't want the pregnancy not to go through. So I didn't say anything until now. But don't tell anyone, I want to." Elizabeth hugged her sister, "So I'm the first to know?" the girls smiled and hugged the rest of night. Elizabeth totally forgot about her issues with her mom, she was so happy about her sister.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR LIZZY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!" a group of people including Mrs. Adam, Jessica, Sean (Jessica's husband), Sammy, Morgan, Ty, Annie, and Nicole sang to the sleeping Elizabeth. Elizabeth rubbed her eyes and sat up. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Elizabeth, you're sixteen!" Elizabeth smiled. The group led Elizabeth to the kitchen where the pancakes that Morgan and Annie made were spread out on a table in a buffet sort of manner. After everyone ate Elizabeth opened presents. The first one was from Ty and Nicole. Elizabeth pulled a long tube out a pink and white bag. She opened the tube and pulled out a poster of Annie and Elizabeth when they were little. When Elizabeth was about three her house had burned down due to a lit cigarette (her dad quit smoking after that), the picture that she received was burnt in the fire. "How did you get this?" Elizabeth was so surprised. "It turns out my mom had the same picture in some box in the garage. Nicole and I went to some photo place and they blew it up for you." Elizabeth gave both of them hugs, "Thanks you guys." Nicole stood up, "But wait there's more!" She handed her a small box. Elizabeth opened the Carmel colored box was a $100 prepaid Visa. She said thank you and hugged them again, then moved onto Annie's gift. She unwrapped a shoe box and opened it, inside was two Juicy Couture half heart best friend necklaces. Elizabeth hugged Annie, put half on her neck, and gave the other half to Annie. The girls hugged again. "Here, open mine next." Sammy whined. Elizabeth laughed as she reached for the large bag in Sammy's hands. Inside the box she saw a box, inside the box was another and another and another, inside that box was a small was a small. Elizabeth looked at Sammy and gave him a funny look. Inside the small bag was a Tiffany key chain inside a mesh drawstring bag. Elizabeth heart eyes widened. Sammy pulled his sister out to the driveway, the others fallowed. Outside was a brand new Space Gray Metallic BMW X5 4.8i SAV with a giant white bow tied around it. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, Oh my god, thank you." Elizabeth Sammy, "Don't just thank me, Jessica paid for half." Elizabeth pulled out of the hug with Sammy and went over to her older sister who was holding flowers. "Thanks" She gave her a giant hug, Jessica kissed her forehead. "Open it, here are the keys." Elizabeth unlocked the door and looked inside. The interior was black with Nevada leather. Elizabeth hugged Sammy and Jessica again. "Alright, enough fun, now you need to get to school" Karen scolded. Elizabeth looked down at her pajamas, and rushed up to her room to change. She slipped into a pair of dark ERIN skinny jeans from Abercrombie and Fitch and layered a green and purple plaid tube top under a tan cropped crochet sweater. Elizabeth put a cute pair of A&F flip flops and grabbed her new Vera Bradley Mod Floral Blue Large Backpack.
Elizabeth ran downstairs where Sammy and Annie were waiting for her. "Hey, do you want to drive?" Elizabeth nodded and grabbed her keys. She got in the driver seat and Sammy got in the passenger seat and Annie was left in the backseat by herself.
When Elizabeth and Annie got to school they were met by a crowd of people waiting to wish Elizabeth a happy birthday. Patrick and Brent were in the front of the group holding flowers and a medium orange, pink, and red bag. "Hey, happy birthday." Elizabeth hugged her friends and opened their present. Inside were two separately wrapped items. The first item was from Brent it was a white Victoria Secret rib-tank that said 'Because I'm Wearing This Shirt...I'm Hotter Thank your Mom' in red and orange writing. Elizabeth giggled and hugged Brent, and then she opened the item from Patrick. She unwrapped the orange tissue paper, revealing a pair of red Victoria Secret 'PINK' sweat pants. Elizabeth hugged Patrick, "Thanks you guys, were you just looking for a reason to go to Victoria Secret and stair at all the half naked women on the posters?" "Psh...Psh...Yeah. Pretty much! Plus we know you like sweat pants, and well the shirt is just so something you need in your closet." Elizabeth and Annie laughed at Brent's weird speech. "BBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG" Sounded the first warning bell. Most of the crowd scurried to their classes, but some kid Elizabeth didn't know stayed behind.
"Hi Elizabeth, my name is Christian. Can I walk you to class?" Elizabeth looked at Annie to see if it was alright. Annie smiled, "Sure I have math with Mrs. Kimball. What's your first period class?" Christian opened the door leading to the main building, "Same." Elizabeth looked at him, "Really? Why haven't I seen you before?" "Well you've always been with Jake" Elizabeth's stomach dropped thinking about the upcoming camping trip. "Plus I just transferred this past semester." Christian continued. Elizabeth nodded as she walked into the musty smelling classroom. "So, do you want to go out sometime?" Christian shyly asked. "Well actually-" "Oh sorry, was I being to forward?" Elizabeth giggled and rested her hand on Christian's shoulder, "No, no, no it's not that at all. It's just that Jake and I are still together." Christian looked at the ground, "Well this is embarrassing." Elizabeth smiled and took her seat when Mrs. Kimball clapped her hands to get her students attention.
While the class watched a movie about Pythagoreans Theorem Elizabeth texted Jake to see how the big move had gone.
Frizzy_Lizzy: Hey J, wat up? How was ur big move? Was paige an angel?
Elizabeth felt sick thinking about her sweetheart of a boyfriend driving around with a total slut.
Finally, at three O'clock Elizabeth's sidekick vibrated with a text from Jake.
