Still Water

By still water they sat together
Shy love trapped inside
Slowly their hearts unraveled
As they learned how to take on life
Crossing "t"s dotting"i"s
learning how to do bow ties
Fear was thrown out the window of his car
As they sang with the radio from deep inside
Days turned to weeks and weeks to months
His shoulder was hers to laugh on
& through every detail
Their love was simple and joyed
Like an acoustic love song
By still water they sat together
When they got the bad news
He held her hand
as they found strength together
It was easier to fight sickness in twos
Something about the crease in his smile
Gave her strength to live, for at least a little while
Deep down though they were both devestatedly
afraid
that this relationship would be severed with no life
one day
They prayed for life, for the love to be eternal
to not end with only one sad heart grieving
By still water she sat alone
She never thought that he would be the one leaving
Clouds formed in her mind
& a tornado of memories in her heart
Peaceful vibrato turning into a trill
Streams of tears came crashing down,
Causing roaring waves into the water
that was once still.
