Part 65
Alex’s POV
I don’t know when I fell asleep, or that I had even fell asleep, but when I realized I was asleep, instantly woke up and shot out of bed. I checked my hands, feet and every other limb I needed, making sure they were there, and that I was still alive. After I had confirmed it, I let out the deep breath I had been holding in. I was alive, that much was certain, then I looked around and I found myself in Alec’s room.
“How did you get here?” Alec’s voice came from behind me.
He was still lying down on the bed, hands behind his head, contently. I smiled at him and kissed his cheek, good morning.
“You fell asleep during the movie and none of us wanted to watch the movie without you, even if you were asleep so after the movie I carried you to bed.” He informed, earning a nod from me.
“Good morning.” I said, a little cheerful.
“Hi.” He replied.
“You’re alive.” He pointed out.
I glared playfully at him, to which I got a cheeky grin in reply. I rolled my eyes and made my way to my room. I changed and went down for breakfast. Alec got there before me this time, to which I stuck out my tongue at him, causing him and the boys to laugh.
“Ok, so we should tell you something.” Jack announced.
He had my attention, quite effectively if I do say so myself.
“When exactly were you poisoned?” John asked.
“We don’t know, somewhere around night time.” I answered, shrugging.
“Well, we won’t know if the potions worked until then because that’s when it’ll activate itself.” Jacob explained.
“Oh, that’s just great!” I said, throwing my hands up.
“So we really won’t know until tomorrow.” Jack summed up.
“I can’t wait that long! I’ve already been waiting 4 days!” I whined.
“I know, we’re sorry, but you might show side effects of either the potion working or not working. We can’t really predict what will happen either way, though.” John informed us.
“Oh, and your parents are coming today to take you back to the pack.” Jacob said, sadly.
“What, we have to leave?” I asked.
“Well, we’d like you to stay, all of us would, but you’ve got a pack to lead and protect. As much as we want you to and you want to, you’ve got your duty and priorities in order already.” Jack said, sternly.
“But I don’t want to leave you guys. These 4 days are the best I’ve had in a while, even if we’re not doing anything and just lounging around the house all day.” I said, sadly.
“I have an idea, but your parents are going to have to approve it.” Alec spoke up.
“Come with us, when we got back.” He stated.
“But we’re still in training as well. We can’t leave the cottage because we can’t properly defend ourselves.” John stated.
“You can come train with us, and we’ve got lots of wolves in our pack, they can teach you how to defend yourselves, they’ll also defend you if need be. Please?” I said and begged.
They looked indecisive and I didn’t want to cause them trouble but I really wanted them to come with us, they knew as much about me as Alec did, and that was quite reassuring if I needed to talk to them about something.
“We’d have to ask our parents.” Jack said, reluctantly.
“Yes!!!” I cheered, loudly, causing everyone to chuckle.
Once we got everyone down for breakfast we proposed our idea. The parents were hesitating to let them go but we convinced them it would be ok, and that they didn’t need to worry about anything because we got it covered. Eventually they agreed and the boys went to go pack their things. They would only be there for a while, and I knew soon they would have to leave eventually but I would love to have them till my birthday.
“So when do they have to be home?” I asked, as the boys got packed.
“I was thinking a little bit after your birthday, how does that sound?” Daniel said, smiling at me.
It’s like he had read my mind, and I wouldn’t put that past him. I cheered and hugged him, tightly, repeatedly saying thank you. This caused everyone in the room to laugh a little.
“I think you need all the support you can get. We can’t go just yet but we’ll be there soon, so we decided to let the boys go ahead of us.” Marie explained.
“Thank you. You guys really are great. I’m going to miss you and I definitely won’t forget these 4 days, ever.” I told them, emotionally.
“Don’t get mushy on us, Alex. Toughen up, girl.” David said, sternly.
“Yes sir. Thank you.” I said, hugging him.
I hugged each of them; they all had some words of encouragement.
“Be careful, honey. We’ll be watching, and if anything goes too wrong, we’ll be there.” Maria encouraged.
I held on to her even tighter, not wanting to let go. These people meant a lot to me and they had more than most people would have for me. I had only spent 4 days with them.
“Be strong. There isn’t anything that you can’t do. I know you’ll do great in everything you try your hardest on.” Damon advised.
“Don’t give up. You can to anything you set your mind to, sweetie. We all trust you and have faith in you.” Mary said, sweetly.
Alec said good bye as well and by the time we were done, the boys came rushing downstairs, all ready to leave. As soon as they said they were ready, there was a knock on the door. I don’t know how it reached this part of the house, but I let it go. My parents were here and ready to take me home now.
“I see Alex is still alive. Let’s go.” Dad said.
It was shocking how they were able to say it so bluntly and calmly. It disgusted me to the point of wanting to hurt them. I bit back my clever comeback and told them the plans had changed.
“Are you sure you can teleport us all?” Mom asked after we explained.
“Don’t worry about that. Not like you care anyway. I’ll be fine.” I snapped.
We said bye one last time and left. We walked down the mountain and when we got to where we were originally, we stopped.
“Everyone grab either mine or Alec’s hand.” I told them.
“Alec can you help me teleport? I’m not sure I can teleport all these people myself.” I asked.
“You don’t need to ask. I was planning to anyway.” He smiled at me.
We ended up all the way back to the field in the pack house, in one trip. I don’t know how long it took but when we got there, I felt different. I didn’t want to go inside. I wanted to go back to the healer’s house.
As we made our way inside, there was a surprise waiting for us. Or a surprise party, to be exact. Everyone was just waiting for the door to open and when it did there was the whole entire pack, all three of the packs we had joined with, popped out of their hiding places and yelled.
“SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
It was so loud that it rung through my ears for a while before finally going away. I was in complete shock for a while until I finally came to my senses.
“Aw! You guys! I really missed you all!” I told them.
I did miss them. I just didn’t want to go back home to all the problems. I didn’t want to face all of this and them. I knew I was letting them down and that I probably would turn evil and crush the image they had of me.
“We missed you, Alex!” Everyone said.
“Hey! What am I? Chop liver?” Alec joked.
“We miss you, Alex and Alec.” They repeated.
“Much better.” Alec said, jokingly.
Andrew, Suzy, Bells, Olive, Brendan, Oscar, Emily, Joe, Pam, Josh, Carrie, and Sam came out of the crowd. Everyone dispersed except for those people.
“Hey, guys! What’s all this?” I asked, knowing that they were probably the cause of this.
“We miss you so we decided to throw you a party. We thought that it would make you happier when you got back.” Bells explained.
I took Suzy out of Andrew’s arms, hugging her closely. Then it turned into the hug fest with everyone. I laughed at how much they missed me. It was ridiculous.
“Hey, who are these people?” Josh asked.
I completely forgot about the boys!
“Oh! Sorry! This is Jack, John and Jacob, the healer’s sons. They’re going to stay with us until my birthday. Be nice everyone.” I told them.
“They’re not trying to take you away from us are they?” Andrew asked, suspiciously.
“We would never. Alex is a dear friend to us. We’ve been watching over her for quite a while now.” Jack explained.
“You are welcome to stay as long as you would like. How about we go get you some rooms?” Emily said, hostess like.
“Thank you. We don’t mean to intrude.” John said, politely.
“Not all. Let’s go.” Emily said, leading them away.
Pam left go hang out with her friends. Joe followed after Emily to help the boys. Carrie went with Sam and Suzy back to their dorm to play a little. So that left Andrew, Bells, Olive, Josh, Brendan, and Oscar. Oh and my parents.
“Let’s go back to Alec’s dorm. We’ll talk there.” I told everyone.
We were now situated in Alec’s living room, comfortably.
“Mom, dad don’t you have to go somewhere by now?” I asked, rudely.
“No honey, we’re staying here till your birthday.” Dad said.
“No need to. You can go back to where you were. I only needed you to lead me to the healers. Now that I’m not going to die, you can leave.” I told them.
“I thought we’d stay with you, Andrew and Suzy. Like a—” Mom started.
“Like a family? Is that what you were going to say? Well I’m sorry to break to you but we were never a family. That ended the day you decided to give me, Andrew and Suzy away. I don’t need you anymore. You can leave.” I stated, harshly.
“Is that really what you want?” Dad asked.
“Yes.” I answered.
“Alex, no, don’t do that. Mom, dad you don’t have to leave.” Andrew said, objecting.
“No, if Alex doesn’t want us, then we’ll leave.” Mom said.
They got up and left. Just as I was about to go to my room, Andrew stood up, mad.
“Why did you do that?! They were finally ready to come get us and you let them go!” He yelled.
“Don’t you get it?! They don’t care!!! They left me with the healers for 4 days, not knowing if I was actually going to die or live!! They don’t want us!! Get it through you head!!” I yelled right back at them.
“They do care!! They just haven’t had the time to show it! They haven’t seen us in 18 years!! It’s not their fault!!” He defended.
“No! They don’t! I had to practically beg them to come save me! When I’m finally healed and fixed they just go and say ‘oh you’re alive”!! What kind of parent does that?!” I was beyond angry now.
“Why do you hate them so much?!” Andrew asked.
“They left me!! You and Suzy knew they that they were your real parents, so you didn’t care how your fake parents acted!!! I didn’t know, so I was left to think my parents hated me. You and Suzy knew about your powers beforehand!! I didn’t, I just thought I was some freak! You and Suzy knew you had siblings!! I didn’t, I thought I was all alone!! You and Suzy had a pack, somewhere you belonged!! I didn’t, I had no one! Does that explain anything?!” I yelled, and teleported out.
I don’t know where I was going. I just knew I had to get out of there before my anger got the best of me. I ended up against a willow tree; they seem to be my favorite place to go. It was the same one that Alex had come to find me when everyone had told me my destiny and the same one Alex and I had visited after we found I was going to die. I hugged it for a second, feeling close to nature in a way. I know it sounds dumb, but the forest never let me down. I could always stay here, and lose track of time completely. I just lay down under the tree, letting its long branches and leaves hide me.
