Riley's POV:

Stupid Ron! What does he know? I don't like Jinx. Well, not in that way. When she's not acting like a whining baby she's really cool. Besides the fact that her views on the world may be obstructed by how she was always locked up in her home. But she is really smart not counting that.

"Hey Riley? What are you looking at?"

I turned my attention to Jinx, who had curiousity on her face. She blinked twice, sending me out of my trance.

"Nothing." I sighed. I rolled over in my bed and yawned. Wait, was Jinx in my room? I turne back to Jinx and she laughed.

"Morning sleepy head!" She screamed in my ear.

"Ugh!" I groaned. "Where you watching me sleep this whole time?" I asked her.

"No. You started to mutter in your sleep and I could hear you out in the living room. I came in here and have been standing here for about five minutes." Jinx said. I was muttering in my sleep?

"What was I saying in my sleep? Wait, I don't want to know." I said. I stood up and put a pair of jeans on. I turned to Jinx.

"What are you still doing here?" I asked. She furrowed her eyebrows.

"I'm sick of wearing the sam clothes over and over again." Jinx said. I rolled my eyes.

"When you left your parents apartment didn't you figure you'd need clothes?" I asked. She shrugged. I thought for a moment. I could buy her clothes...

"Also, I found a picture of a girl. She looks like you and is really pretty." Jinx said. That's right! I have my sister's clothes! She left them here from when she moved out only a month ago.

"Oh, that's my older sister. Her name's Leah." I said. "She left alot of her clothes here saying they were 'out of fashion.'" I told her. I went into another room that used to be my sisters. Our apartment, because my dad was rich, had two bathrooms and three bedrooms. We actually had the biggest room in the building.

"Riley," Jinx started.

"What?" I asked.

"Why couldn't I just sleep in here?" Jinx here. I shrugged.

"I forgot." I said truthfully.

"Nice excuse." Jinx snorted.

"It's not an excuse! Just shut up and get dressed!" I yelled at her going back to my room. I put on a plain red shirt and went into the kitchen to start cooking. When Jinx came out she was wearing a plain white V-neck shirt with navy blue skirt that was to her mid-thigh. She also had on white high heels that made her three inches taller.

"Look at me! I'm super tall!" She giggled. I stared in disbelief. She cocked her head to the side.

"What are you looking at Riley?" She asked. I shook my head and closed my mouth.

"Nothing." I muttered. I flipped the pancake trying to ignore Jinx. She took one step foreward and tripped. I caught her before she could fall and helped her back up. "Go put on your converse, Jinx." I told her. "But first, take off the stupid heels."

Jinx's POV:

Riley made pancakes! Yay! I ate two and Riley ate one. I laughed and asked if he was on a diet. He told me to shut up.

We walked out of the building and towards Ron's Pawn Shop. On the way I got alot of stares and smiles. I smiled back being polite. My blue hair sure made a scene. I heard Riley mutter something inchoherently when a bunch of guys whistled and gave cat calls. We went into the shop where Ron's eyes widened when he saw us.

"You two going on a date or something?" He asked.

"Shut up Ron!" Riley yelled. I rolled my eyes and smiled.

"Then what's the occasion for lookin' so pretty?" Ron asked.

"Thank you Ron. Riley was speechless at my appearence." I said smugly with a smirk on my face.

"Shut up Jinx!" Riley yelled at me.

"No need to be so rude!" I yelled back at him.

"Both of you shut up!" Ron yelled. "Riley, Jinx is just teasing you."

"Yep. I love to tease Riley!" I elbowed him but he shrugged me off.

"That's only cause you hate me." Riley said.

"I don't hate you, I like you. It's your arrogant attitude I hate." I said.

"She's saying your an ass." Riley said.

"Shut up Ron!" Riley yelled. We were all interrupted when the door dinged. I looked at Ron, who looked at Riley and chuckled. Riley scowled and cursed under his breath. Ron looked at me and winked. Seeing Ron's expression, a sly smile played across my lips. This was going to be fun.

"Jessie!" I called. I jumped up and suprised him with a hug. I swear I saw Riley roll his eyes. Ron winked.

"Hey Jinx." He hugged me back. I heard Riley growl and Ron laugh in the background. I pulled away and turned to face Riley and Ron.

"Ron, this is Jessie. The guy I met yesterday." I said. Jessie walked over to Ron and shook his hand.

"Are you her uncle?" Jessie asked.

"No, i'm just a good friend of her's and Riley's." Ron said.

"Oh, hey Riley!" Jessie greeted.

"Hi." Riley said coldly. There was an akward silence afterwards.

"You look cute Jinx." Jessie said. I smiled and blushed.

"Thank you." I flushed even more.

"Well, I know I spilled your coffee yesterday-"

"Actually it was Ron's." I interrupted him. He turned to look at Ron.

"Oh. Sorry." He said. Ron held up a hand.

"No problem." Ron waved it off. Jessie turned back to me.

"So, as i'd like to buy Ron another one. But would you like to come with me?" Jessie asked.

"I'd be honored." I said. He walked over and held open the door. "I'll be right back guys." I called and left the store with Jessie.

Riley's POV:

"What's got you looking so glum? Are you jealous?" Ron said slyly, a smirk on his face.

"No!" I yelled at him. "It's just, I don't like that guy." I told him.

"Me neither!" Ron said. I stared at Ron, shocked and confused.

"Really?" I asked, searching his face.

"Yea! He's gunna trying to take Jinx away from you!" Ron said. I threw a pen at him and he just laughed. "Lighten up Riley, you know you like her." Ron picked up an antique mirror and tried to rub the line of blue off of his face. I laughed.

"Your welcome." I said sarcastically while Ron scowled at me. We sat in silence for a few minutes.

"I'm going to go try and get this blue pen off my face." Ron said as he opened the door to the back room of his store. The room was full of silence.

I thought about when I would get Jinx home. How the hell would I find where she lives? What would happen if my dad were to come home to see I had been housing a blue haired girl who acted like she was two?! Oh God, my dad's going to freak! Besides that, who was that Jessie kid? Why is he so kind to Jinx? Not that I mind or anything...

Just then, Jinx and Jessie came into the store holding two coffees each.

"Where's Ron?" Jinx asked.

"He's got blue on his face." I said.

"Is that supposed to be some sort of insult!?" Jinx crossed her arms and glared at me.

"What? No! I-" Ron suddenly came out of the backroom and interuppted.

"Hey, Ho, what's with all the sudden commotion?" Ron asked. He had a white cloth tinted with blue and his face had smuges of blue on it.

"Riley's making fun of me!" Jinx yelled.

"I am not!" I yelled back.

"Hey! Calm down! You sound like a couple of screaming toddlers! Alright, Riley, explain." Ron said. Everyone's eyes turned to me.

"Jinx came in and asked where you were so I said he has blue on his face." I explained. "Then Jinx started freaking out!"

"Oh, Jinx, Riley threw a pen at me and the pen marked a line of blue on my face so I went to go wash it off." Ron explained to Jinx. He showed her the faded blue line. She relaxed from her stance and looked a little guilty.

"Oh..." Was all she was able to say. Jessie handed the one coffee in his hand to Ron.

"What's this?" Ron asked.

"It's an apology for knocking the coffee out of Jinx's hand's yesterday." Jessie said shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Thank's Jessie, you really didn't have to do that." Ron gushed. I rolled my eyes.

"No problem." Jessie said. He looked at the clock on the wall of the store. "Shoot!"

"What is it?" Jinx asked concerned.

"My little sister is coming back from her summer camp in fifteen minutes! I gotta go! Bye Jinx!" He gave her a quick hug before heading out the door. Jinx came over and stood next to me smirking.

"What?" I scowled. He gaze was set on me and the smirk never left her face for a moment.

"Just admit that you're jealous."

"I'm not freaking jealous!" I yelled in her face.

"Yes you are."

"No. I. Am. Not. Jealous." I said every word clearly so she would get the picture. She rolled her eyes playfully and her smirk turned into a smile.

"Whatever." She laughed. Ron wasn't even in the room anymore. He probably went back to take care of the blue line I acidentally put on his face. I looked outside and noticed it was already getting late. The sun had already gone down in the minutes of silence that passed us by, and the moon was already making it's appearence.

People were begining to leave the streets and take cabs. I checked my pockets to find I had no money. Looks like we'll be walking. I turned to Jinx who was staring at something outside.

"Jinx." I got her attention. "You ready to go? It's already late." I said pointing towards outside. She nodded her head. We both walked towards the room Ron was in. "Ron, we're leaving now, we might see ya' tomorrow." I said. Ron came out of the back room with a cloth to his cheek.

"No, you don't have to come here tomorrow." He looked over at Jinx then smiled. "Why don't you take Jinx downtown? I heard there's going to be a parade." Ron suggested. I gave him a look that said 'WHY?!'

"A parade! I've never been to a parade! Although I could hear the commotion from my room every year, it just was never the same..." She trailed off. I sighed.

"Alright, i'll take you to the parade tomorrow." I agreed. She jumped up and down, clapped, and 'yayed' all at the same time. We said our goodbye's to Ron and then walked out the shop. I was walking with my hands in my pockets, trying to keep a low profile while Jinx was full on skipping and sining 'we're going to the parade tomorrow...'

"Jinx, would you keep it down? There aren't alot of good people walking the streets at night."

"What about you and me?"

"Yes, yes we're good people. I meant muggers." I said the last word quietly.

"Oh," she said and then began to walk and talk quietly.

"Thank you." I muttered. All of the sudden, it started to rain. "Why!? Why now!?" I yelled at the sky. I started running with Jinx tagging along behind me. I looked to see if she was as mad as me for getting soaked. But instead of being angry, she was skipping and laughing as she ran. She twirled and her wet blue hair spun around her.

She must have saw me staring at her crazily, because next thing I knew she put her hand into my hand and began swinging our arms. She skipped and laughed. "Come on Riley, stop being such a party pooper. Have some fun for once!" She yelled at me.

"What is wrong with you!?" I yelled back at her. She ignored me. She just kept swinging our arms as she skipped with me running. She looked so careless, so...happy. Maybe I do need to unwind. Maybe I am a party pooper. Maybe I should let loose and relax sometimes.

I began skipping and laughing too, along with Jinx. Although there weren't many, people began to give us strange looks. I didn't care. I was having fun. We skipped through the lobby and instead of taking an elevator, we went up the stairs. We skipped into my apartment and stopped. We were both breathing heavily but Jinx still had a smile on her face.

"See? Letting loose isn't so bad, now is it?" She asked. I noticed our proximity and that our hands were still entwined together.

"Yea..." I trailed off. We both stared into each other's eyes for a moment. I wasn't sure what was happening and I could feel us getting closer. We were suddenly interuppted by the apartment phone going off. We both snapped back into reality and looked away from each other.

Jinx let go of my hand. I heard her mumble a goodnight before going to her room. I picked up the phone. It was my dad.

"Riley?" He asked.

"Yea?"

"Oh good, I called earlier and you weren't home."

"Yea I was at the Pawn Shop." I said.

"Oh, well remember when I'm coming home and make sure to clean the house. Oh, and say hi to Ronald for me." He said.

"I'll get to that." I smiled.

"Bye son."

"Bye dad."

I hung up the phone. I didn't hate my dad although he was never home, could be judgemental, and much more but he was all I had left and I did love him. All of the sudden the power went out and a flash of lightning lit up the sky. I went into my room, stripped off my clothes and jumped into bed. I tried to erase the memories of what happened between me and Jinx. Wait, nothing happened. Yep. Nothing happened.

Nothing at all.
