After leaving Jessica in her office, I left work and sped straight home.
I made sure Melissa was situated in her hotel with our son Jacob.
I knew they might not be safe once the shit finally hit the fan.
I strode into the back of my closet for my suitcase, threw it on the bed, and started adding clothes.
My phone rang.
I picked up my phone and frowned at the screen.
It was my father.
I groan and pressed Answer, putting the device between my ear and shoulder.
"What's this about you taking a vacation?" He questioned gruffly.
I sighed and kept packing.
Not even a hello.
"Yes. I'm going on a short vacation for a couple of days...or weeks."
"For what?!" He bellowed. "You just took over the company and now you're taking a 'break'? Hell no! You're not going anywhere."
I roll my eyes and zipped my suitcase up.
I grabbed it and walked back into the living room before answering him.
"There's nothing you can do." I said, shutting all the lights off and opening the front door. "Plus I'll only be gone a couple of weeks at the leas-"
My sentence was cut short when I saw who was standing on the other side of the door.
He smiled and pointed the gun at my chest, directly above my heart.
"Leaving so soon? I don't think so."

I finished up my report and stood up, balancing the pile of papers on one arm.
I looked down at my phone for any messages from Joshua.
None.
I took a couple steps towards the door when it opened.
Amy took a couple of steps in.
I looked up from my phone.
"Oh, Amy. When did you come in?" I asked.
She usually came into my office and told me when she arrived.
Does it matter?" She snapped.
I narrowed my eyes.
"Excuse me?" I asked calmly.
"Nothing." She said quickly, rolling her eyes.
She closed the door behind her but doesn't step away from it.
"Look, I don't know what your problem is but-" I started.
"Oh save the bullshit Jessica." She spit.
Click.
The door locked.
She locked the door?!
Why would she do that?
"What are you doing?" I asked, taking a cautious step back.
She stepped forward.
"Something I should have done a long time ago." She said, pulling something from behind her.
The office lights reflected off of it.
It's a gun.
"Amy..." I whispered. "What are you doing with that?"
"Isn't it obvious?" She smirked. "I'm here to kill you."
