In Aurdon Prep
The limo cruised through the sparwling green campus and came to a stop. An impressive building with a flower garden loomed before them. A group of curious students in blue-and-gold uniforms waited outside the limo, waving welcome flags. A marching band started to play with great gusto. The driver opened the limo door, and Mal, Ash, Evie, Lena, Jay, Stefan, Carlos, and Rick tumbled out. They were about as undignified as it got.
Jay and Stefan was yanking at a scarf that Carlos and Rick was clutching.
Carlos asked "You two got everything else, why do you two want this?"
Jay said " 'Cause you two want it!" while wrestling with Stefan at Carlos and Rick to the ground and pinning them there with their feet. In their squabble, they didn't notice the group of students watching them. The students backed away at the sight of them fighting, and the band dribbled to a wheezing stop.
A smiling woman stepped through a clump of students with her arms outstretched as if she were about to gif someone. She had brown hair pulled back in a loose bun, pearl earrings, and a lavender dress with a pink bow at the neck.
Mal and Ash noticed the woman and alerted their friends. Ash whispered loudly "Guys, guys, GUYS," Then Mal said from the side of her mouth, "We have an audience." Ash and Mal put in their fake smiles and struck a fetching pose. Evie and Lena quickly followed suit, resting her hands in their hips.
Stefan smiled and told his audience, "Just cleaning up." Jay and him helped Carlos and Rick toy their feet.
The woman addressed Jay and Stefan, "Leave it like you two found it!" She grinned. She gave Jay and Stefan a pointed look and said "And by that, I mean just leave it."
Jay and Stefan tossed all their loot back into the limo.
The woman smiled and nodded.
Then Stefan noticed a pretty student with caramel-colored skin and chocolate brown hair. She wore a blue sweater, a pink dress, a gleaming gold necklace. He sauntered up to her with a smile and said, "Hello, foxy." He held up her hand and said, "The name's Stefan."
Then he kissed her knuckles as the girl laughed, then stopped.
The woman leaned in between Stefan and the student and said "Welcome to Auradon Prep,"
Stefan's smile faded.
She said "I'm Fairy Godmother. Headmistress." while bowing elegantly.
Ash asked "The Fairy Godmother?"
Fairy Godmother nodded.
Mal cutted in and asked "As in 'Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo'?" while pretending a wave a wand.
Fairy Godmother said "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-you-know-it!"
Ash have her forced good-girl smile and said "Yeah, I always wondered what it felt like for Cinderella when you just...appeared out of nowhere! With that sparkling wand and warm smile...and that sparkling wand." She flashed a big cheesy smile.
Carlos licked chocolate off his fingers as Ash spoke.
Fairy Godmother said "That was a long time ago, and as I always say, don't focus on the past or you'll miss the future!" She smiled and said "Wherever you wind up!"
A handsome young man said "It's so good to finally meet you all," as he stepped forward and clasped his hands. He wore a baby suit jacket that sported the Auradon Preop crest, a hankie in the breast pocket, and a pastel plaid tie. Them he said "I'm Ben."
The girl beside him said "Prince Benjamin," She squealed "Soon to be king!"
Evie said "You had me at 'prince'," as she stepped forward and stared into Ben's eyes. She started to bow and said "My mom's a queen, which makes me a princess."
The girl said "The Evil Queen has no royal status here, and neither do you."
Ben gave the girl a 'cool it' look and said "This is Audrey..."
Audrey said "Princess Audrey," as she takes Ben's hand. She said "His girlfriend. Right, Bennyboo?" then flashed a smile at Ben and tucked her chin.
Ben let out a short laugh.
Fairy Godmother told Mal and her friends, "Ben and Audrey are going to show you all around, and I'll see you tomorrow. 'The doors of wisdom are never shut!' But the library hours are from eight to eleven, and as you may have heard, I have a little thing about curfews." She smiled, turned away from Mal and her friends, and walked towards a building, with the marching band following in her footsteps.
Ben smiled and approached Mal and her friends. He said "It is so, so, so good to finally meet you all." Jay punched him playfully. Stefan fisted bump him. Ben shook hands with Mal, Ash, Carlos, Rick, Rice, and Lena, looking into Mal's eyes with a great searing intensity. He said "This is a momentous occasion, and one I hope will go down in history as the day our two peoples began to heal." Lena held his hand for too long. Audrey puled Ben away.
Mal, imitating Ben's tone, said, "Or the day that you showed eight peoples where the bathrooms are."
Mal's friends laughed.
Ben grinned and said "A little bit over the top?"
Mal said "A little more than a little bit,"
Ben said "Well, so much for my first impression," He laughed.
Mal laughed, too. She stared at him for a moment, before looking away.
Audrey glared at her through a smile and said in a disingenuous voice, "Hey! You're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you? I totally don't blame you for your mother trying to kill my parents and stuff. Oh, my mom's Aurora. Sleeping-----"
Mal cutted her off and said "Beauty. Yeah, I've heard the name. You know, and I totally don't blame your grandparents for inventing everyone in the world except for my mother to their stupid christening."
Audrey blasted a fake smile and said "Water under the bridge!"
Mal said "Totes!" as she puts on an even bigger fake smile.
Both girls fake laughed and let the laughter fizzle out in unison.
Ben clapped his hands together and said happily, "Okay! So how about a tour?" He headed toward the garden, sharing facts about the school and its history.
The teens looked up into the face of a fearsome statue that resembled Ben's father in Beast form. Ben clapped and it came to life and growled. Carlos squealed and jumped into Ash's arms. Ben, noticing Carlos' fear, gave a quick double clap. The statue magically transformed into the Beast as a young prince. Carlos relaxed a little.
Ash said "Sorry, my boyfriend is scared of some scary creatures."
Ben said "Boyfriend?" with wide eyes.
Lena cutted in and said "Yeah, these two have been dating for five months since Ash, Rick, Stefan, and me returne-----"
Rick cutted Lena off and said "Okay, Lena! Don't need to spread it around. Now Ben, calm down Carlos."
Ben said "Carlos, it's okay. My father wanted his statue to morph from beast to man to remind us that anything is possible,"
Mal asked "Does he shed much?"
Ben said "Yeah, Mom won't let him on the couch," with a serious expression.
Mal and he exchanged looks.Mal gave a wry smile and he smiled back.
Ben continued his tour. Ash put Carlos down and Carlos clapped to get the statue to come alive again. Nothing happened. He raced ahead to catch up with the group and Ash held his hand.
Inside the building, there was a fireplace, dark wood staircases, chandeliers, and stained glass windows that made the place feel warm and sunny.
Mal asked "So, you guys have a lot of magic here in Auradon? Like wands and things like that?"
Ben said "Yeah, it exists, if course, but it's pretty much retired, most of us here are just ordinary mortals."
Rick added "Who happen to be kings and queens,"
Audrey said snootily,"That's true!" as she was draping Ben's arm over her shoulder. Then she continued "Our royal blood goes back hundreds of years." She looked at Ben possessively.
Ben took his his arm off her and noticed a nerdy boy with thick glasses heading down the stairs. The boy was wearing a blue-and-gold marching band uniform and carried a clipboard.
Ben said "Doug! Doug! Doug, come down!" as he clapped a hand on Doug's shoulder. He announced "This is Doug, he's going to help you with your class schedules and show you the rest of the dorms." He looked at Mal and said "I'll see you later, okay? And if you need anything at all, feel free to-----"
Audrey blurted out, "Ask Doug," She fake laughed and dragged Ben away.
Doug said "Hi, guys, I'm Dopey's son? As in"-----he started counting on his fingers-----"Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and..." Evie caught Doug's eye and said to her completely charmed, "Heigh-ho,"
Evie went nose to nose with him and said "Evie. Evil Queen's daughter." She started to twirl her hair flirtatiously.
Doug said "So, about your classes, I put in the requirements already. History of Woodsmen and Pirates, Safety Rules for the Internet, and"-----he cleared his throat-----"Remedial Goodness 101."
Mal said "Let me guess..." as she popped a piece of candy into her mouth. Then she said "New class?"
Doug nodded sheepishly.
Mal said "Come on, guys," as she dropped the wrapper on the floor. She started up a flight of stairs. Ash, Carlos, Rick, Jay, Stefan, Evie, and Lena followed her.
Doug said "Oh! Uh, yeah, your dorms are that way, guys," while pointing in the opposite direction.
As Mal and her friends came back down the stairs and headed in the direction he indicated, Doug hung back, counting through the dwarves again. He said "Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleppy, and..."
Carlos said "Sneezy," while passing him and ascending the opposite staircase.
Doug sighed and looked at the ceiling.
Upstairs, Mal, Ash, Evie, and Lena opened the door to their dorm room. It was light and airy and dappled in sunlight. The white canopy beds were covered with pink pillows, and flowery curtains fluttered gently in the fresh brezze from the open windows.
Evie's eye widened with delight as Mal, Ash, and Lena's narrowed in horror.
Evie said "Wow, this place is so amazing-----"
Mal said "Gross,"
Evie said changing her tone, "I know, right? Amazingly gross. Ew!" When Mal, Ash, and Lena wasn't looking, Evie couldn't help giving a silent gasp of joy at her new crib.
Ash said "I am going to need some serious sunscreen," with her arms crossed.
Lena said "Yeah,"
Ash said "M, E, L" while pointing to the windows. She closed the curtains as Mal, Evie, and Lena moved to other windows in the room and did the same, plunging the dorm into darkness.
Mal said "Whoa! That is much better."
