Chapter 11

"Trishalyn? Hi this is Claude, how are you beautiful?"

I rolled my eyes so hard they almost fell out.

Why would he call now instead of yesterday when I needed him?

Getting my attitude in check I responded "I'm great just woke up but I'm good..."

"Well that's good to hear, I was just quickly calling to invite you on a formal date....honestly can't stop thinking about you."

I rolled my eyes again.

If he was really thinking about me he would have called YESTERDAY!
"Aww....that's sweet. I'd love to accompany you... what do you have in mind?" I continued in a fake sweet tone.

I'm like seriously bitter he called today and not yesterday.

"Well....I was thinking I'd take off work Saturday and I could show you a really good time."

"A good time being...?"

"A surprise," He laughed at me, "You'll have a ball, trust me."

Hesitantly I accepted, "I hope you don't plan to murder me or anything of that sort Claude." I joked.

"You're to cute to kill." He said cheekily.

He is so cheesy I couldn't help but crack a grin.

"You're so Cheesy." I giggled

He chuckled.

"So, I'll pick you up at 7 on Saturday okay, dress comfortable, no heels please."

"Oh lord what am I getting myself into."

He laughed again.

"Trust me, see you Saturday Trishalyn."

"See you."

The line went dead after that.

Welllllllll it's been about a week and a half and I have two dates.

I smiled at the thought of how soon my rebound was coming.

Then I frowned at how one of my options are being forced!

Greg is cool. Hot, yes indeed.

But- He's just not my type.

too prosperous My mind rang out to me.

I rolled my eyes.
What's the plan for today....

Do I have work?

I checked my schedule.

All I have to do today is go to a meeting with my publisher.

Greg's mom.

I got up in hopes to get ready to leave...

But Layla was curled up on my rug just staring at me.

Ugh... I need to feed her.

I went and retrieved food for the pug. Layla devours canned dog food.

While she ate I went into my bathroom, put on my face, and threw some soft wand curls in my hair.

then I went on and found an outfit fit for seeing my publisher.

A button-up blouse and a skirt should do. I got dressed and added Black pumps.

Checking myself out in the mirror before leaving, I decided I look decent enough.
The drive to my publishers home wasn't long... she lives like right down the street from Darla which is right down the street from me, except she has the biggest house on the block.

I parked, got out and went to knock on the door.

Miss Juanita answered, their family maid.

"Hola seniorita, Misses is just en her office." She greeted with a smile.

"Gracias." I thanked the sweet Lady and made my way to the office.

The house has always been beautiful, inside and out. Mahogany furniture, high ceilings, money practically oozing out of the walls.

Our family home here was big too. Very homey... and nice. After the incident, I moved out, I never went back again.

They sold it to the highest bidder when they left for Iceland.

When I got to her office door, I knocked twice.

"Come in." I heard.

A butterfly jumped through my stomach as I opened the door.

I'm really not trying to be down a publisher... I need to keep her on my team.

She was at her huge desk staring intently at her computer screen. Her hair was in a neat bun, she had on a suit and looked overall professional.

"So, talk to me...How's promoting your books going?" She asked.

"Well, I've been working extra hard to promote my books on Facebook and Twitter, uh I know have 75 Twitter followers, so uhm that's a start." I said nervously.

she looked up from her computer and to me.

"75 isn't impressive." she said flatly.

I opened my mouth and closed it. I didn't know how to combat that.

"Is that all you've done?" She asked.

"No, I also am making changes at my family's restaurant.... my books will now be featured on the menu."

She folded her hands on her desk, "Well that's better for news instead of the 75 followers." She laughed.

I gave a nervous breathy chuckle in response.

"Well now, I'm glad your here though because I received an awesome email today from Transview Elementary."

Book week?!

She's going to make me go?!

"You have an opportunity, to go read your book to all grades during their PE class!" She exclaimed.

Gregory is persistent.

"Your son is the PE teacher right?" I asked.

"Yes but I got the email from the principal. I doubt Greg had anything to do with it."

I don't.

"Wow! So what day?"

"Well I told them you'd happily go tomorrow."

I faked my best smile.

"Pe-Perfect!" I retorted.

"Well.... I hope you're prepared. I expect teachers to purchase your books Trisha, you must do a good job."

"Yes Ma'am I know...."

Her phone started to ring.

As she looked for it she dismissed me. "Well, Glad we had this talk. School Starts at 8:45 be ready! See you later." She abruptly told me.

I still had questions. I can't just leave now.

"How long do I have to be at the school?"

"However long it takes. I want you to read to each grade. Once that is over, you can go." She said.

"So I have to-" I was cut off by the telephone ringing. She picked the phone up and put the caller on hold.

"Do you have something else to say? I really need to take this call." She said eyeing me.

"Oh no ma'am. Thank you for your time, i'll excuse myself." I told getting up and walking out.

"Barry, your book better be ready because-" As I shut the door I caught the beginning of her phone conversation.

My publisher is intense.

I couldn't imagine having her as a mother.

Getting back in the car, I knew I had to make a call.

I dialed and waited for an answer.

The phone answered and I heard baby screams.

"Hey Reddy Roo." Darla Sang.

"Why is my child screaming in the background Dee?" My face was still cringing from the noise

"Hold on-" She responded and the call went quiet.

Kids are not desirable at all. I couldn't imagine having a daughter or son.

After another minute Darla came back with a soundless background, "Okay sorry about that. What's up? "

"Guess who called me this morning?"

"Claude called you? In the morning? hahahaha pitiful."

"Yes he called me this morning and asked me on a date." I said happily.

"Trisha you really like this guy?" She asked me seriously.

"I mean, I think he's cool. I'd like to get to know him. He has a job, car, and a nice body."  I told honestly.

"Trisha, he got you drunk and made out with you in the bathroom at a club."

"I was only tipsy I swear!"
I could hear her suck her teeth in displeasure through the phone.

"Okay. Fine. You'll see." She forebode.

"Yeah we will! Now, what should I wear on my date with Claude?"  I asked cheerily.

I know she's pissed about this but she will get over it.

"What are you going to wear on your date with Greg? That's tomorrow." She reminded.

"Oh Shit, speaking of tomorrow... Did I tell you I met with my publisher today?"

"Greg's Mom? What happened?"

"Dude, so basically Greg pulled some strings I believe and somehow got the principle to email his mom basically formally inviting me to book week."

Darla started laughing, "So now you have to go? Haha Greg is smart! I like him."

"ughh." I groaned.

"Well you guys will spend the whole day together then it looks like."

"Yeah he's probably going to piss me off at the school and I'm going to not want to go."

"To bad, You can't back out I'll hate you forever." She said to me flatly.

"Shutup," I laughed at her dramatics, "We're Besties for life."

All of a sudden I hear cries again.

"My mother senses are tingling, I have children to tend to, I'll talk to you tomorrow, plan out something to wear. You have to look gorgeous."

"Whatever,"

We ended the call.

I got up and walked over to my closet...

What am I going to wear tomorrow?

The Next Day

BEEP BEEP BEEP

The coffee I had put in the microwave to warm up was done.

I stopped by the mirror to check myself out before I grabbed my coffee and left.

I had on a Sweater that was dark green and off the shoulders. I had on a gold chain necklace with a heart on it, a gold watch and some white capris with gold buttons and trimmings. I finished off my look with Brown and gold sandals.

My hair was straightened and framing my face. I kept my makeup light and natural.

I looked cute. Hopefully the kids will like me.

Grabbing my coffee I looked at Layla.

She was sleep in her bed, I had just fed her.

Before I left I took a picture of her. She was just to cute!

When I got to the school I parked in visitors and made my way inside.

In the front office the secretary greeted me.

I had a huge box in my hands full of my books so I was very uncomfortable.

"Hi my name is Trishalyn I am here to read for book week." I spoke.

"Oh yes! You'll be in the gym. You can just set your box down, I'll call Gregory up here to take you down there."

I sat the box down while she called the one person I was dreading to see.

after about four minutes. Gregory entered the room and put his violet orbs on me.

"Good Morning Trishalyn." He said with a smile that lowkey made my heart jump.

ugh he's way to cute.

I gave a fake smile and replied, "Hello Gregory."

"Is this your box?" He asked picking it up.

I nodded.

"Well you can follow me."

I thanked the secretary and followed Greg all the way down the hall and down some steps.

The Gym was large and it had a office and a bathroom in it.

He took me into the office.

"Welcome to my humble abode." He commented placing the box down and sitting at his desk.

I sat in one of the chairs he had set up in front of his desk.

It was also a TV in the corner of the office that he turned on.

We watched a little bit of what was on in silence until he spoke.

"The Fourth Graders are our first class of the day." He spoke, "They'll be here in 10 minutes."

"Cool." I said keeping our convo short and brief.

"So we're going to a show tonight with Darla and Mitchell?"

For some reason I didn't expect him to ask.

I contemplated telling him about the bet but I'm not that much of a bitch.

"Yeah, Thats the plan I was told..." He cut me off.

"What made you change your mind? I mean how did that happen? I could of swore you seemed like you didn't want to go out with me so... i'm just confused."

I still don't want to go out with you.

"It's a double date, Darla and Mitch wanted to go out with their closest friends so, thats us." I said trying to make it less of a big deal.

He looked like he was about to reply but the sound of little children distracted us both, the first class was here.

Well the day has officially started...

Greg never replied, we just got up and walked out to greet the two classes of fourth graders.
