"Jeremy was in love with Vicki, Vicki was in love with Jeremy. From what I heard, Vicki ditched Jeremy saying she's leaving and to tell Matt goodbye," I tell Sheriff Forbes. Due to us being 'so close' with Vicki, we took it upon ourselves to tell Sheriff a good lie about Vicki's whereabouts.

"Okay," she writes down my words, "and when was the last time you saw Vicki?" Sheriff Forbes asks.

"Um..." I pretend to think, "at the Halloween Party at school. She said hi and all that but that was it." I have no idea of its good or bad that I'm a great liar. Probably good.

"Okay, thank you Gabriella," She concludes. "You should really come over soon." She smiles.

"Will do, as soon as possible. Don't worry. And you can call me Gabby, Sheriff," I say.

I get out of the chair, ignoring the ache in my side. It's only been a few days since Vicki's death, but my wound is healing nicely. It wasn't as bad as we thought it was when I first got it.

"No," she denies. "Gabriella sounds prettier."

"Whatever suits you, Sheriff." I smile.

Elena approaches me when I finally leave her office. I give her a look when she presses against my non-injured side.

"How did you do?" she whispers.

"I did fine. I told the 'truth'." I answer. She punches my arm, causing me to frown at the weakness of it.

"Wanna say it like that a little louder?" I roll my eyes as we enter the waiting area. Aunt Jenna and Jeremy stand up, both giving me a reassuring smile as we head outside.

The four of us pause at the sight of Stefan leaning against the nearest police car. He quickly gets off of it after noticing us.

"Hey, Aunt Jenna?" Elena says, looking over at her. "Gabby and I will meet you in the car." Aunt Jenna gives Stefan a skeptical look before nodding.

"Hey," Stefan says, looking at us both. His focus is mainly on Elena. "Are you guys okay?"

"No," Elena snaps, crossing her arms. "everywhere you go, someone dies. Now, every time I see Jeremy or Matt, I feel horrible and guilty because Vicki will never come back."

"Let's talk somewhere else," Stefan suggests.

"No, Stefan. You can't see me anymore," Elena says. I can feel her anger and grief so much they've almost become my own. She's really upset over all of this. "Stay away from us."

She storms off. I don't follow her just yet. "I'm sorry for her harshness," I apologize on her behalf.

"No, it's fine," he reassures, looking down at the ground. I don't need twin intuition to know he's sad. "I get it."

"This hurts her as much as it hurts you," I try to reassure. He looks away from the ground in time for me to give a small smile. "I don't know if Elena's told you yet, but we kinda have this twin power?" Stefan gives a confused frown. "If either of us have really intense feelings, the other can feel it. So when I say she loves you, I mean it."

Stefan reciprocates the small smile. "Thanks, Gabby."

"No problem." I give him a pat on the shoulder. "Now don't be a dumbass and go fix this."

----------

After a tiring day of lying my ass off, I figured an ice cream sundae would do me some good. My headphones blast loud music.

"Annie are you okay? Would you tell us that you're okay?" I sing while pouring the hot fudge on my ice cream, which is on top of my brownie.

Someone slaps the counter, causing me to jump in surprise. I pull off my headphones, glaring at my brother. "Can you sing elsewhere?" Jeremy snaps, annoyed by my singing.

"Hey, I'm a good singer," I argue. I start pouring sprinkles on top.

"I'm trying to do homework," He snaps. My eyes almost burst out of their sockets. Jeremy and homework in the same sentence? Wow. Plot twist. Jenna and Elena turn around on the couch staring at Jeremy.

"Since when do you do homework?" I question before taking a bite of my sundae.

"Well, I need to catch up and I have a quiz tomorrow," Jeremy replies, refusing to look away from his work.

"What do you guys think?" Elena theatre whispers to Jenna and me. "Alien?"

"Maybe some sort of replicant," Jenna responds in kind, narrowing her eyes at him.

"Or he's a shapeshifter that's failing at blending in," I suggest.

"He can hear you," Jeremy snaps. He gives a fake smile before frowning again. He starts continuing his work. Maybe Damon got him to study too. I chuckle a bit at the thought and take a bite of my brownie and ice cream.

"I'm going upstairs to sleep," Elena huffs out before leaving the room. I watch her leave with a sigh. I guess breaking up with a guy she met two months ago was more painful than I thought it'd be.

Aunt Jenna and I exchange a look. "I'll go check on her," I offer.

"Gabby, you know she's upset. So no sarcastic remarks please?" Jenna scolds.

"Sarcasm is my second language though." I pout before finishing my sundae as fast as I can.

"I'm serious," Jenna says with a stern look. I raise my hands in defense.

"Me too," I promise.

Before I could start heading up the stairs, the doorbell rings. "I got it!" I announce. I open the door and only to see Bonnie of all people.

"Hey, Gabby," Bonnie greets, surprised to see me answering. She looks past me. "Is...Elena here?" Bonnie asks.

"You're right on time," I respond as I let her inside. "She's bummed out about Stefan." She nods before following me up the stairs to Elena's room.

I don't bother knocking, but I do open the door slowly. She's moping under her covers. Aw she looks so peaceful.

I yank the covers off and yell "Olé!" Elena grabs her legs due to the cold.

"Go away," she mumbles with little bite to it.

"Bonnie's here," I tell her before sitting beside her.

"Hey," Bonnie greets, sitting at the edge of her bed. "Why haven't you called me back?" Bonnie asks sitting beside her. I poke Elena's forehead, making her eyes open in surprise before she rolls them.

"I'm sorry," she apologizes before letting out a groan.

"Are you staying here forever?" Bonnie asks in amusement. Elena nods her head. Bonnie sighs. "Scoot over." Elena and I scoot over so Bonnie has more room.

"I'm tired of thinking," Elena complains.

"Can I get at least a one-line summary so I can pretend to help?" Bonnie asks with a joking smile.

"They broke up." I explain on her behalf, making Elena give a grateful smile for not having to say it. Bonnie frowns.

"I'm so sorry," Bonnie gasps. "Are you okay? Wait, stupid question. I know, I've been MIA lately. I want to make it up to you."

"Make it up to me by taking my mind off of it. " Elena groans.

"Okay," She shrugs before giving a mischievous look. "you asked for it." Bonnie replies. She jumps out of the bed and closes the windows and curtains. She grabs Elena's pillow and tears it open, pouring the feathers on the bed.

    "Hey!" Elena protests.

"I need to swear you to secrecy," Bonnie commands.

"It's a bad week for secrets." I'll say.

"Please? I'm not supposed to show you this."

"Okay, I swear." Elena promises. Bonnie looks at me.

I roll my eyes. "Whatever, I swear," I answer.

"Okay, no windows are open? No one else is here? No fan?" Bonnie asks.

"No, please get on with it," I command slightly annoyed.

"Okay," she breathes out nervously. "Grams showed me this. Are you ready?" Bonnie asks.

We nod, watching curiously. Bonnie closes her eyes and hovers her hand over a feather. She lifts her hand up. The feather flies up still under her hand. She places it down and looks at us.

Elena and I give Bonnie a shocked look. Bonnie this time puts both of her hands over the feathers and lifts about seven of them up. They float in the air in front of us. She places her hands by her sides. She looks up and all the feathers surround us.

"It's true. Everything my Grams told me. It's true. I'm a witch." She gives a little giggle, not being able to keep her smile down.

"Well, I believe you but if Elena doesn't then she's got some problems," I joke, bewildered by her ability.

"Oh no, trust me, I believe her. " Elena replies. We all laugh a little. Bonnie's a witch. What are the odds.

"It's weird. Me being a witch. I never thought it was possible." Bonnie smiles. "You guys don't think I'm a freak do you?"

"Of course not," I reassure. If only she knew what Damon and Stefan are.

"Why are you showing us this if your Grams said you couldn't?" Elena asks.

"You're my best friend, Elena. I would never keep a secret from you." Bonnie replies. Elena starts to have a guilty look on her face. I distract Bonnie from noticing it by saying something else:

"Why did you show me?" I ask.

"You were here when I was going to show her so I thought. Why not?" Bonnie jokes...I think...

--------

"Why am I coming again?" I grumble. I follow Elena out of the car and towards the Salvatore house.

"Because you are somehow amazing at getting me out of situations when they are awkward," Elena compliments, going up the porch stairs. "And I want to make things right with Stefan."

    "And if Damon's here?"

Elena pulls the doorbell, effectively ignoring my question.

"It's open! Come on in!" A girl's voice calls out. Elena and I glance at each other before stepping inside.

We're greeted by the sight of a blonde in nothing but a towel. "Oh my god!" She exclaims as if she's the one who's supposed to be surprised. "How..God...who?"

"I'm...Elena and this is my sister Gabby," Elena introduces, furrowing her brows at her. "Who are you?"

"Lexi," She greets with a smile that's way too casual for the situation. "I'm a friend of Stefan's."

"Oh," Elena says simply, obviously disturbed by this. "Is...Stefan here?" She tries to not look at Lexi.

"No, he's in the shower. Would you like to wait?" Lexi asks. Obviously this chick isn't thinking about what she's saying because the way it sounds, makes Elena think she's actually more than a friend.

"No, we don't," I answer on our behalf. I grab Elena's arm, getting ready to lead her out. She's staring at Lexi in disbelief. "We have to go anyway. Sorry to interrupt whatever it was you two were doing."

After everything I told Stefan, he brings home a friend?

"Okay. I'll tell him you two stopped by," Lexi chirps. We walk out the door. I look over at Elena who's clearly heartbroken.

"I'm sorry," I say to her because I'm sure that's a terrible thing to see.

    "Let's just go home."

--------

My phone buzzes, forcing me to look at the text.

    Caroline:

I'm throwing a Party at the Grill tonight. Be there. :)

Oooh, a party? I wonder what the occasion is. I roll my eyes and text her back saying:

    Duh. :)

My phone buzzes again. I can't help but groan in annoyance at the text.

Caroline is throwing a party at the Grill. Since you are my friend you need to be there.

    It's Damon by the way

I frown before texting him back.

how did you get my number?
    also we're not friends
and how'd you know? Caroline just texted me about it.

    Damon:
    Caroline gave me your number
I saved your life and fixed your brother
Caroline took a couple of my suggestions for Stefan's birthday.

He better have not compelled her...Wait, it's Stefan's birthday?

Elena's sitting beside me, watching whatever's playing on the TV. Maybe we can give Stefan the chance to explain himself...

"Elena," I call out, grabbing her attention from the couch. "There's a party at the Grill tonight. Wanna come?"

"I don't know..." she trails off hesitantly.

"No! You have to go! This could get your mind off of things." I whine. "Also, Caroline's throwing it, so you know it's going to be fun."

She pauses for a moment before letting out a, "Fine."

"I'm going to get ready for the party," I announce. I head towards the stairs. Before I make it halfway there is knocking at the door. I run back down stairs and open it, greeted by Stefan. Oh! I guess they can talk now.

"Hey, Gabby," Stefan greets. "Lexi said you guys came over earlier..?" Elena steps up beside me, making Stefan's smile widen. She crosses her arms.

"You mean the girl in the towel?" Elena asks.

"Girl in the towel?" He takes a moment to think. "Oh. No it wasn't what you thought. She is an old friend of mine. As in, 350 years old." Another vampire. Great.

"Oh, she's..." Elena trails off, suddenly embarrassed by her unsaid accusation.

"Yeah. She is." Stefan finishes. Sort of.

"Well that's good," I say, glad to know this is resolved. "She kept staring at us."

"Yeah. Well, I talked about Elena. A lot. I guess she felt that she knew you." He replies. "So, why did you come over?"

"It was a mistake," Elena answers. I look at them waiting to talk more but they don't. They both look at me instead. "Do you mind letting us talk for a bit?"

"Not at all, go ahead, " I say with a smile. She glares at me. "I'm just kidding. See you soon Elena." I say. I run up the stairs to my room. I love being annoying.

---------

After finding out Stefan was attending his own party, Elena changed her mind about attending. It sucks because now I have to go alone. At least Caroline will be here too. I smile at the amount of people here, music blasting.

"Someone knows how to clean up," a familiar voice chimes. I let out a groan at the sound of Damon's voice before facing him. He sips from his drink, staring down at me. Damn those gorgeous eyes.

"Was that supposed to be a compliment?" I scoff.

"Yes, but I can do better." He leans a little closer so I can hear him better over the people. "You look hot."

I nearly shiver from the compliment. I shove him away before I can do anything stupid before remarking, "Creep."

But he's right. I do look hotter than usual. It admittedly feels nice to know that he thinks I look good.

"How'd you convince Caroline to throw this party?"

"It took a lot of effort," he admits, "but she came around."

"You compelled her," I deadpan, narrowing my eyes at him. "I thought we agreed—"

"An apology gift," he remarks, shoving his drink in my hand. I frown at the half empty glass.

"I'm not the one who needs the apology."

He smirks. "It's an open bar. I'll compel them not to ID. That work?"

Yeah, that more than works. But he's an asshole. Why bother with the gesture at all?

"I have to go," he excuses himself when I don't answer. "I'll see you." He walks off before I can protest. I let out a sigh and sip from the drink he gave me.

I see Lexi sitting down a few seats over so I scoot over next to her.

"So," I start off, feeling a little awkward, "you're not Stefan's side piece."

Lexi raises a brow but her amused smile says she isn't offended. "I've known Stefan too long for us to be like that." She sips from her drink.

"What? A hundred years?" I chuckle.

She taps her nose, indicating I'm right. "To the year. Stefan told me you and your sister know about our secret."

"Took a minute to find out," I admit, "but they never would've told us."

She chuckles before finishing her drink. "I like you. You're not like Stefan's other friends."

"Really? Most people don't." I answer. She laughs a little. "Yeah. They think I'm a total bitch."

"You and me both." She smirks. She looks past me. Her face brightens before she points past me. "Look, there's Stefan," Lexi points out. I follow her gaze to the lonely Stefan in the corner. She gives me a look I completely understand.

I sigh. "I need to loosen up a bit before I can torture Stefan with the power of dance," I admit sadly. "You go ahead, I'll catch up."

"You better," she jokingly warns before hopping off the bar stool.

-------

"Stefan lines up the shot," I announce in a soft tone, "He goes for the shot and—He did it! That's three in one shot!"

I cheer a little too loudly. I plan on taking advantage of Damon's compulsion, and I was sure to tell Caroline about the "chill bartender." Unfortunately, my tolerance isn't high enough to keep me sober for long.

"Nice!" Lexi comments and gives Stefan a high-five. She looks at me. "Do you want to join?"

"Noooooo thanks," I deny, emphasizing with the shake of my head, "I suck at pool."

"We need to get a few more drinks in you," She points out before continuing with the game. I can't help but giggle.

Suddenly, my twin intuition kicks in and I feel a gaze on me. I turn around and see a casual looking Elena staring at the three of us.

"Elena!" I cheer and make my way to her. Yes, I run into a table and a rail, but I make it to her eventually.

"Oh my god, you're drunk," she sighs and is quick to steady me. "How did you—"

"Elena," I interrupt and grab her shoulder so she'll look at me. "I'm tipsy at best. But listen! Lexi? She's kind of cool! Stefan's less of a downer! You should join!"

"Stefan is happy!" Damon announces from behind us before she can say anything. Elena jumps in her spot, scared by Damon's sudden appearance. I'm a little too numb to feel at the moment. "Alert the media everyone," He teases. He stands beside me, invading my personal space.

"You haven't given him a lot of reasons to be happy lately," Elena snaps, starting to stare at Stefan again.

"Yes, of course. He's being persecuted all of eternity by his depraved brother," Damon remarks. She ignores him. "Does it get tired? Being so righteous?" Elena lets an unhumorous chuckle.

"It flares up in the presence of psychopaths." Elena smirks before walking off.

"Psychopath just got burned," I tease, pointing at Damon.

"Someone's a little tipsy," he looks at me with amusement. My vision starts to spin, so I lean against him for support. "How much have you had?"

"Not enough," I mumble before looking up at him. Wait, Damon's here! "Hey!" I exclaim a little too loudly. "What'd ya do fo my...brother?"

    "Be more specific."

"When you compelled him to forget about Vicki's death, what else did you do? He's like...studying."

"I just did what you guys told me to do. I made him forget fangs and roar." He makes a hissing noise and a fake vampire face. "I made him forget his suffering. " Has Jeremy actually changed?!

I let out a giggle. "I need you to be a little serious, Damon," I command, putting my hands on my hips.

"Fine." He sighs before looking at me with a small smirk. "Has anyone ever told you that you look sexy when you're mad?" He flirts.

"I usually punch them before they get to," I threaten. "But I could use another drink."

    "No, you couldn't," he denies.

I pout. "I feel like you'd love to drink with me. You're pervy like that."

"Not my fault your tolerance is crap." He frowns after recognizing what I said. "Wait, pervy?"

"It is partially you're fault I'm here though," I point out. "Come on," I give a little smile, "please?"

"Look at you," he chuckles in amusement, "being all flirty for a drink."

"What can I say? I'm a bit of a flirt." I let out a cough, too much air reaching my lungs. I yawn before leaning against him again. "Hey, wha-why did you do the thing?"

"What thing?" He raises an eyebrow at me.

"The uh...commmmmpulsion thing," I try to explain. My head hurts thinking back at that moment. I look back at him, giving a grin before whispering, "when you kissed me."

"You remember that?" A look crosses his face. In my drunken state, I can't tell if it's regret or annoyance.

"How could I not?" I let out a small laugh. "It was my first kiss."

"Oh," he says simply, not exactly sure how to respond to that.

"Is it because I kinda look like your ex?" I blabber. "Cause that sssssucks." Before he can say anything I point to Lexi. "Hey look! Le—" I let out a hiccup "Lexi!!!"

I'm about to approach her, but Sheriff Forbes suddenly appears. Damon grips my arm to prevent me from moving. My eyes widen at the sight of Sheriff Forbes stabbing her with a syringe. Lexi gasps for air as two deputies take her away. The pressure around my arm disappears. I look back at Damon, only to not see him there.

Stefan and Elena find me, giving me an urgent look. I blink a few times before nodding. The three of us make our way out the back door and into the alleyway.

We make it outside in time to see Lexi with her vamp face, slowly stepping towards Sheriff Forbes with threat. I jump a little as she fires her gun at Lexi.

Before Lexi could lunge at Sheriff, she pauses. My eyes widen as she falls to the side, revealing Damon behind her. The stake pierced through her heart is aggressively yanked out.

I let a loud gasp before Stefan puts his hand over my mouth. He does the same to Elena. At first, I wasn't sure if this was some drunken hallucination, but I'm definitely awake. This is real. But I know we aren't feeling what Stefan's feeling. I look into his eyes, and see pain and anger.

Lexi's body gets all pale and veiny, just like Vicki's did. Damon picks up her body and tosses her in the Sheriff's trunk, as if she were nothing.

Damon killed Lexi, I think bluntly. Shit. I think I'm going to throw up.

All the alcohol I've consumed rises and I'm puking it out in an alley. Elena gasps beside me and pats my back while trying to shush me.

"Oh my god," I say in what I hope comes out as a whisper. Stefan marches past us, making Elena look up at him.

"Come on," she whispers urgently, grabbing my arm.

I pull my arm free and shake my head. "Go," I reassure. My voice comes out hoarse. "I'll—" another hiccup "—I'll be f-fine."

She looks helplessly between me and the retreating Stefan before nodding. "I'll come back," she promises. I lean against the brick wall as she rushes past me.

I force myself to move closer to where we were standing. I can see the scene again. Damon is comforting the Sheriff while Lexi's body remains on the ground.

  Does the Sheriff know?

I don't know why, but I didn't think Damon would do something like that. After everything he's done, everyone he's killed, I didn't think he would go after his brother's best friend.

I can't believe I fell for his friendly act. Damon is a terrible person. Why do I keep trying to believe otherwise?

Stefan's not gonna kill Damon. He cares about his brother far too much for that. But Damon's gonna get something, and it ain't gonna be sweet.
