A few weeks later I go back to the theatre for the final.
As soon as I get there, someone from wardrobe pushes me into a room with rails of clothes.
"Put this on." she says as she gives me a short sparkly dress.
"And these." She gives me diamanté studded heels.
I put them on and go tell the announcer what I'm going to sing.
When I come out of hair and makeup, I hear someone whistle behind me. I turn round and see Murr standing there smiling.
"You look nice."
"Thanks." I smile and look at the ground.
"You don't have to be shy around me."
He comes towards me and lifts my chin up. He leans in. Our lips become closer. They're nearly touching. Is this really happeni-
"Can contestant 1738 please come to the main stage."
We step back from each other.
"I better go." I say walking backwards, still looking in his eyes.
"Yeah. Same. Good luck."
