Sky’s POV

The cold wind of the whistler sky nipped at my skin and played havoc with my hair, as I walked down an unknown street with Evie. It was New Year’s Eve and I for one couldn’t wait to see in the New Year. This last year had nearly broken me. It had torn at my heartstrings more than I thought was physically possible. It started off with seeing both my parents attacked by wolves, leading me to believe both where dead. I was then shipped across the Atlantic to live with my grandmother I barely knew. My mind then drifted back to high school. How my life had changed once Klaus saved me from his Beta. How I’d fallen in love with the one person I wanted so greatly to hate. Or then how he was brutally ripped away from me once my ex-pack found me, and took me back to England to be re-united with the man who killed my mum. In conclusion it had been a long year and one I was quite happy to see the back of. Now all I wanted to do was think about the future and with Klaus by my side I knew it could only get better.

“How about we look in there?” Evie motioned towards a shop which looked fairly up-market, and by that I mean fairly expensive.

“I’m not sure.” I mused. Klaus and Wesley had both given us their cards and we were told to buy a dress to where for this evening.

“Oh come on! Please those dresses look beautiful!” Evie exclaimed, her eyes beaming with excitement as she stared into the shops window.

“I guess we can look.” I sighed, knowing full well that I wasn’t going to even think about taking advantage of Klaus’s generous offer of lending me his card. The guys had told us barely anything about what was happening tonight, the only thing we knew was that it was a black tie event and we needed to be suitably dressed.

As expected inside the shop was posh, a woman with her dark brown hair pulled back into a professional looking bun, stood staring at us in an accusatory manor once we entered.

“Hello girls, what are you looking for today?” She asked, pulling a clearly fake smile as she approached us.

“We’re looking for dresses to wear tonight.” Evie answered, either having not noticed her accusatory eyes or choosing to ignore them, I wasn’t sure.

“Oh right, well we have a large amount of high priced designer dresses here. What’s your price range?” She answered her eyes narrowing slightly at the ‘high priced’ comment. It was clear that she thought we were wasting her time.

“Oh there isn’t one.” Evie answered back politely however her eyes sparked slightly, which told me in reality she really wanted to say something along the lines of ‘take that bitch’

In response the dark haired woman looked taken aback. “Very well then, what sort of dresses are you looking for today?” Her professionalism was reclaimed as she began leading us towards the racks of dresses.

I’m not going to lie, we spent longer in the shop than I first wanted too. About an hour later I was stood appraising Evie’s dress. It was strapless number, champagne in colour and blinged out to the max from the sweet heart neck line to just below her butt, where plain tulle fabric then cascaded down to her feet. It was beautiful, and made her look like she was ready to walk down the red carpet.

(Dresses are in the picture in the side bar :)

“That really suits you.” She said to me, as she – like I, stood appraising my dress. Unlike her I’d decided to go for a relatively plain navy blue dress, with a small amount of bling lining the sweet heart neckline, and then flowey chiffon material which hugged me in all the right places down to the floor.

“So does yours, Wesley’s going to have a hard time keeping his hands off you tonight.” I grinned.

After we paid for our dresses – and cringed at the price, we finally left the shop.

“How about we go and grab a bite to eat and catch up probably?” Evie suggested once we caught sight of a small coffee shop.

“Sound’s good I’m starved.” I exclaimed.

-

“So how’s pre-married life?” I asked as I tucked into my bagel, a genuine smile broke out across her face as she took a sip of her English tea.

“It’s great.” And I couldn’t help but smile at the sincerity of her tone. “It’s strange though. I mean I’ve only known him a couple of months, and we’re still learning about each other.” She shrugged and I couldn’t help but understand where she was coming from. It was the same with me and Klaus, we were still learning about each other. For example, it wasn’t until yesterday that I learnt Klaus’s favourite food was pasta. I mean surely being his mate I should have known that sooner.

“Have you set a date yet?” I asked her, wondering when I would have to start looking for a bridesmaids dress.

“No not yet. Did I tell you both Wesley and I got a place at Bournemouth University?”

“What? No way! You always wanted to go there!” I grinned, sharing her excitement.

“Yeah…” She sighed and then looked up at me. “You know it wasn’t too long ago when you planned to go there too.” She spoke seriously, causing me to frown slightly. She was right. Evie and I had planned on both attending BU together, and spending our free time chilling on the beach, but that wasn’t going to happen now, Klaus couldn’t move to England and leave the pack, so therefore neither would I. “Anyway, where have you and Klaus decided to go?” She asked.

“North Dakota State.” I smiled. It may not be Bournemouth, but I was super excited to be going to University with Klaus, and having Ethan and Quinn there would make it amazing.

“You’ll have to visit on holidays.”

“And so will you… Shit! Is that the time?!” I exclaimed only now realising the clock on the wall behind Evie’s head showed it was almost four. “We were supposed to be back an hour ago!”

-

Klaus’s POV

“Shit man, you must be bricking it.” Ethan laughed, at my nervous pacing up and down the hotel room we were staying at.

“That’s an understatement” I muttered, my heartbeat racing within my chest. It felt like I was on the verge of having a panic attack, as I tried to put into words what I was going to tell Sky tonight. I’d literally been putting it off all week, but I had to tell her sooner rather than later, keeping it from her was slowly killing me inside.

“It will be alright man, you have nothing to worry about.” Ethan tried to convince me, yet nothing anyone said seemed to calm me down.

“Try telling my insides that.” I grumbled, feeling my stomach twist uneasily.

“Man just don’t think about it. “ He laughed again patting me hard on the back. “Anyway, have you got your suit ready for tonight?” He asked changing the subject.

“Yeah, though right now my suit was the least of my worries.

“For heaven’s sake!” I growled looking over at the clock, I’d been trying to ignore for the last hour. “Where the fuck is she?” I finally snapped my already nervous body becoming even worse as I threated about where she was. “She said she’d be back an hour ago.”

“Klaus she’s a girl, she probably hasn’t noticed the time.” Ethan tried to explain. It was a perfectly reasonable response and in the back of my mind I knew that was probably the case, but it didn’t stop me from worrying something bad had happened to her.

“I should have gone with her.” I grumbled running my hands through my hair.

“Dude, you have to relax you can’t chaperone her for the rest of her life. You have to trust her.”

“I do trust her.” I sighed sitting on the end of my bed. “It’s everyone else I don’t tru-“ I was immediately cut off when in heard a ring tone go off from somewhere in the room.

Your hand fits in mine like it’s made just for me

But bear this in mind

It was meant to be

And I’m joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks

And it all makes sense to me

I frowned looking at Ethan who was looking back at me with the same questioning expression on his face.

“Is that – “

“Is that yours?” I cut him off.

I know you’ve never loved

The crinkles by your eyes

When you smile

You’ve never loved your stomach or your thighs,

“Man” Ethan laughed looking over to my bed causing me to look at him questioningly but turn around non-the-less. My eyes widened dramatically as I saw Sky’s name on my phone.

“What the…” I muttered as the ringtone continued.

The dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine

But I’ll love them end-

“Very funny Sky” I rolled my eyes but still smiled as I relaxed considerably.

“Hehe.” She laughed mischievously. “You like?”

“It just screams masculinity” I rolled my eyes. “Since when did I say you can mess with your ringtone?”

“Since, you asked me to be your girlfriend.” She chirped and I could picture the grin covering her face.

I shook my head but I just couldn’t find it in me to be mad at her.

“You’re late home angel.” I scolded light heartedly.

“I know. I’m sorry we lost track of time, we’re on our way back to the hotel now. We’ll be about fifteen minutes.”

“Okay baby no rush, did you find a dress?” I asked looking over my shoulder as Quinn walked in and sat between Ethan’s legs, letting Ethan wrap his arms around his neck.

“Yes I did, erm thank you for letting me use your card.” She muttered and I could just imagine her playing with her fingers as she said this. “It wasn’t too expensive.”

“You’re welcome angel, and I don’t want you to even think about the price, whatever it was, I can afford it.” I explained rolling my eyes. It was typical for Sky to worry about money.

“Aren’t you going to ask how much it was?” She asked tentatively.

“No of course not.” I shook my head with a light smile. “Anyway I’m going to have to go Quinn and Ethan seem to have forgotten they’re in our room.” I explained raising my voice at ‘our’ to try and get their attention. However it seemed to fall on deaf ears as they were too busy jamming their tongues down each other’s throats.

“Okay.” She laughed down the line. “I’ll see you in a bit.”

“Laters angel.

-

“You ready for this?” I nearly jumped when I felt Wesley place his hand on my shoulder.

“Yeah, I guess so.” I answered honestly as I laid my head in my hands tiredly. “How did you do it?”

He laughed lightly and sat beside me, and I’m not going to lie, it still felt strange talking to my brother – in a brotherly way. It was still bewildering to think that before Sky arrived in my life, my relationship with my brother was near to non-existent. He hated me, and let’s be honest here I wasn’t too fond of him either. Now however it was like having my old twin back. The twin I had when we were young and carefree.

“I don’t know.” He shrugged. “It wasn’t really planned, it just kind of happened – a spare of the moment thing.”

“A spare of the moment thing?” I repeated in bewilderment.

“Okay so that came out bad, but it’s the truth. The timing just seemed right.”

“See that’s what I mean, what if the timing isn’t right?” I replied exasperated.

“Bro chill. If it’s not right, then you don’t do it. It’s as simple as that.”

“What’s not right?” My head immediately shot up to see Evie stood in the doorway and to my almighty relief I realised Sky was not with her.

“Nothing just-“ Wesley began turning his head to look at her before he abruptly stopped, His jaw instead dropping and his eyes roaming his mate. I must admit, she did look very nice. She was dressed in a long evening dress and her hair was done up nicely. She grinned back at Wesley, having received the response she was no-doubt looking for.

“How do I look?” She asked giving him a twirl in her high heels.

“You…” Wesley seemed to be lost for words as he slowly stood up and began walking towards her. At that point I decided to give them a bit of space, instead choosing go across the hall to the room Sky and Evie had been getting ready in for the last couple of hours.

I tentatively knocked against the hotel door, knowing that Evie had forbidden me to come in, yet also knowing that Evie wasn’t going to be in there. And who did she think she was? On hindsight I realised I would have normally been angry that someone even had the guts to tell me I couldn’t see my mate. However my mind had more pressing matters to deal with.

“Sky?” I called wearily, when I heard no response.

“Klaus don’t come in, one sec!” She called back and I found my taught muscles relaxing considerably.

After about I watched as she pulled open the door.

“About ti-“ I abruptly lost my voice, as Sky hesitantly stood in the doorway, looking at me with large insecure eyes. My eyes roamed across her flawless face. She was wearing make-up. She hardly ever wore make-up, she didn’t need it, but I wasn’t going to lie- with it, she looked ready to walk into a make-up ad. She took my breath away, and I my throat dried up as she blinked at me with those swooping long lashes.

“K-Klaus?”

I couldn’t seem to say anything as my eyes finally looked down at what she was wearing. She wore an elegant floor length navy blue dress which swayed then clung to her perfect figure, as she fidgeted slightly in response – no doubt – to the almost predatory gaze I now found myself giving her.

“Say something.” I heard her say, and the un-certainty in her voice was heart breaking. She had no idea she was the most beautiful being to ever, and will ever walk the planet.

“You look stunning.” I murmured stepping towards her, and before I knew what I was doing my finger swept across her cheek. “You’re so beautiful.” I breathed, leaning in a pressing my lips against hers roughly. Her lips moulded against mine and I was thankful that she hadn’t stayed well clear of any lipstick, which would have tainted her perfect lips. She pulled away all too soon, and instead looked up at me with her bright blue eyes, as she pulled a small graceful smile.

“You don’t look too bad yourself.” She finally spoke causing me to chuckle and lean in to place a chaste kiss upon her lips once more.

“Well I do try.” I grinned back at her taking her hand and pulling her into my chest. “Are you ready to go?” I whispered into her hair.

“Yes, I think so.”

“Do you have a jacket?” I asked noticing she wore only her dress leaving her arms bare.

“No. It’ll be fine. We’ll be inside right?” She answered with a shrug. I sighed shaking my head.

“It’s snowing outside baby, you should take a jacket.” I answered, causing her to pull away and look worried.

“I don’t have one. Not one that will go with this dress!” She looked completely panicked.

I sighed and pulled her back into my chest. “Fine you don’t have to take one.” I reassured her. “Why don’t you go meet Wesley and Evie in the lobby, I’ll just go and make sure Quinn and Ethan have finished having sex.”

Skylar started to choke on air at that and looked up to give me a shocked look.

“I’m joking.” I deadpanned.

’That was not funny.’ I almost laughed at Ethan who spoke his thoughts to me through private mind link.

‘It was a little funny’

‘Geez, you’re even starting to sound like her.’

‘Hey watch it.’

‘Yeah, yeah.’ Ethan was laughing at me though his thoughts causing me to roll my eyes.

“What was that for?” I looked down at Sky to see her staring at me in confusion.

“Oh Ethan. Mind link.” I explained.

‘Oh Ethan.’ I thought to him as I remembered. ‘I need you to go to my room and find Sky’s white coat...’

Sky’s POV

After a short taxi ride we arrived to what I later realised was the most posh restaurant I had ever been in. I was slightly surprised to realise that it was only going to be a small affair. A large part of me thought we would be spending the night with the whole pack, but instead it was just Klaus and I, Wesley and Evie, Ethan and Quinn and Chase and Marcia. Apparently we were going to meet the rest of the pack later tonight so we could see in the New Year together.

“Good evening sir. Do you have a reservation?” The door man asked, decked out in a smart black suit.

“Iverson.” Klaus spoke and the doorman nodded.

“Okay, Welcome to La Fereete. If you would follow me, I’ll show you to your table.” And with that he started leading us through the busy restaurant. He finally ended up near a window, a large round table sat in its only private bay.

We all took our seats before the man handed out our menus.

“You’ll waiter will be here shortly to take your orders. Have a nice night.” The doorman spoke excusing himself.

“This is a bit fancy.” Evie’s whispered in my ear and I chuckled, nodding my head in agreement. I was certainly not used to going to places like this, and I knew Evie wasn’t either. Goodness, I hope I don’t embarrass myself.

Of course, as expected the menu’s at this place where all in French, and I for one had no clue what I was reading. It was all double-dutch to me.

“Would you like me to order for you?” Klaus murmured quietly in my ear.

“Please.” I smiled at him in relief and then almost melted into his side as he placed his arm over my shoulders and pulled me against him gently.

“This part of the night was actually Wesley’s idea.” Klaus whispered in my ear so only I could hear him. “If it was up to me, we’d probably have ended up at Applebee’s.”

I giggled. Yes actually giggled at that, imagining Klaus doing just that.

“At least I wouldn’t have had to wear the dress.” I muttered. It still felt totally foreign, wearing such formal attire. The last time I can remember even wearing a dress was on Christmas day. I was eight and it was pink and sparkly and the only thing I wanted from Father Christmas.

“Hmm, looking at you now Miss Evans, remind me to thank him.”

-

Thankfully dinner went well, and very much down to the help of Klaus I thankfully avoided embarrassing myself with using the wrong cutlery. I mean why on earth you’d need so many knives, forks and spoons for so many small portions of gourmet food. It was mind boggling.

“Did you like your food?” Klaus asked, pulling my attention away from the conversation I was having with Evie about the good times we remembered from our old school.

“Yes it was lovely, thank you.”

“Here, come with me.” He whispered taking hold of my hand, and pulling me up from the table.

“Huh, why?”

“Apparently the desert in this place is the best in whistler.”

“And we can’t just order it at the table.” I questioned but allowed him to walk me across the crowded restaurant anyway.

“Nope, we order it over here.” He shrugged, as we approached a counter full of amazing looking cakes.

“I think I’m in heaven.” I grinned as my eyes roamed. I was feeling like a kid in a candy shop. I wanted them all! How could I pick just one! While I was trying to decide which one I wanted more – the chocolate fudge brownie or the strawberry sponge, I felt Klaus wrap his arms around my waist from behind and lent his chin down on my shoulder.

“Choose which one you want baby.” Klaus whispered in my ear, his breath on my neck causing me to shiver slightly.

“What are you having?”

“I’ll have whatever you’re having. I chose the dinner. You can surprise me with the desert.”

“Hmm…” I pretended to muse, yet knowing exactly what I wanted. “How about the chocolate fudge brownie one?”

“Good choice. Excuse me.” He pulled the man behind the counters attention. “We’ll have the chocolate fudge brownie to go please, put it on table 27’s tab.”

My eyebrows hitched up in slight confusion at his words, but my eyes where too consumed with watching the man stick the chocolate cake in a plastic container.

“Here we go sir, happy New Year.”

“Happy New Year to you too.” Klaus answered, taking the chocolate cake from him and grabbing hold of my hand, however instead of pulling me back to our table, he pulled me towards the door instead.

“Klaus, what?” I asked confused as he strode out of the restaurant quickly and with purpose. “Where are we – “ My words caught in my throat as he opened to door and immediately the cold December air hit my naked skin. Shit, it’s now I’m wishing I took Klaus’s advice and brought a coat. It’s cold!

“Klaus, why are we outside?!” I grumbled childishly as I wrapped my arms around myself to keep warm. “I want my chocolate cake.”

“It was getting stuffy in there and I don’t know about you, but I was getting bored of trying to act all posh and shit.” He shrugged a small smile tugging at his lips.

“Very nice choice of words.” I muttered dryly and then my attention was caught by the sound of horse hooves.

“Aww Klaus look!” I grinned staring at two large light brown horses with white mains, as the trotted down the road pulling a red sleigh. I looked around once they stopped in front of the restaurant, wondering who it was for.

“Klaus, before people get in it, do you think I can pet the horses quick. Pleeease?”

Klaus let out a quite laugh but otherwise said nothing as he lead me towards them.

“Can I stroke your horses please?” I asked the man who wore a black top hat and sat in the front of the carriage.

“Of course ma’am.” He answered and I grinned up at Klaus who was just staring at me, an emotion in his eyes I couldn’t quite understand.

“They’re so cute.” I cood as I stroked the horses neck. “I always wanted a horse, did I ever tell you? But my parent’s… you know…” I muttered trailing off, referring to the fact that my parent’s where short of cash my whole life.

“Ethan’s parents live on a ranch. When we get home, I’ll take you.” He whispered as he once again wrapped his warm arms around my waist. It wasn’t until I felt his warmth that I remembered how cold I was.

“Really? I’d love that.” I whispered still staring up at the horse. “Anyway, we better go back inside. I’m getting kind of cold.”

“What did I tell you about bringing a coat?” Klaus laughed lightly.

“Yeah, yeah. You’re right. You’re always right.” I muttered childishly causing him to laugh.

“Ma’am?” I heard the sleigh driver speak and I looked up to see him holding up a white coat. A white coat which looked suspiciously like mine…

“What?” I found myself speaking in confusion as Klaus un-wrapped his arms from around me and took the coat.

“Shh.” He smiled lightly as he held up the coat for me to wear.

“B…But… I don’t understand…” I stuttered putting it on before, he took hold of my hand again.

“Fancy eating that chocolate cake now?” He asked and I nodded still completely confused as to why the sleigh driver had my coat.

“Climb in then angel.” He whispered in my ear as he led me to the red sleigh.

“Wait? This is for us?” I asked, finally having it all click together.

“Baby, this has been the best year of my life so far. I wanted to make its last day special.” He murmured and I looked up to see a half smile gracing his lips.

As the sleigh pulled away from the restaurant Klaus sat beside me, pulling my legs across his lap allowing me to snuggle into his chest. I couldn’t believe he’d arranged this. It was so… So romantic, I mean I knew Klaus had his moments, but this… this was amazing. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend new year’s eve, than sitting in a sleigh, trekking across a snowy wonderland and snuggled into the chest of a man I loved with all my heart. I don’t think I could be any happier than I am right now.

“I can’t believe you did this.” I whispered breaking the comfortable silence which had fallen upon the two of us. “It’s amazing.”

“You’re amazing.” He whispered running his fingers absentmindedly through my hair. A smile tugged its way onto my lips as I stared up at him, my cheeks warming at his words.

“Klaus?”

“Yes?” He murmured into my hair.

“I love you.” I whispered.

“You know I love you too.”

I didn’t know how long we’d been in the sleigh by the time he spoke again. It was easy to forget about the time when it was so peace full... oh and the fact that we where feeding each other the delisious chocolate cake.

“I…” he began. “Look, so I’ve been meaning to give you something all week. I just… I’ve been trying to find the right time.” I looked up, pulling away slightly so I was able to see the nervous look in his eyes. I frowned in confusion as he reached into the inside of his jacket pocket, and then my mouth dropped open in complete and utter shock as he pulled out a small beige coloured box.
