We rushed back to the lab with the evidence we found. Neither Steve nor I could believe what we found. They were in the middle of talking about some Phase 2 plan, which is what I assume has something to do with the gun Steve and I found. I felt sick to my stomach, I couldn't possibly understand why SHIELD would be trying to hide something like this from anyone, unless it was truly something bad.

As we are walking Tony is in the  middle of asking what Phase 2 is.

"Phase 2 is SHIELD uses the cube to make weapons."

Tony gives a both look, "sorry the computer was moving a little slow."

Fury gave a look my way and all I could do was shrug. I wasn't on his side on this one.

"Rogers, Smith, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean that we're..." Nick says, trying to explain his side of the story. Or spit out more lies.

"I'm sorry Nick," Tony interrupts him as he shows the computer screen with future plans for the weapons, "what were you lying?"

"I was wrong director the world hasn't changed a bit," Steve said, his tone accusing.

"Why didn't you say anything to me?" I asked Fury angrily.

Then before I could respond Natasha and Thor both walk in together.

"Did you know about this?"  Bruce asked Natasha, his tone starting to concern me. This was no time for the other guy to show.

"Did you Natasha?" I asked hoping in my heart she didn't, even though she very well could have. I forgot all about trying to calm Bruce, I wanted to know if she knew about all of this.

She ignored me completely and turned toward Bruce, "you wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, doctor?"

"I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed," he shot back, blaming her for putting him into this mess.

"Loki's manipulating you," Natasha answered calmly, as if she were expecting this from him.

"And you've been doing what exactly?" Bruce replied.

"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you," Natasha said, her own tone now short and clipped.

"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy. I'd like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction," Bruce said finally.

"We'd all like to know what's going on here," I said looking at both Fury and Natasha. I knew my eyes were filled with accusations, the two of them were both in on this. I could completely see it on their faces. I was the one on the outs.

"Because of him," Fury said simply, pointing a finger at Thor.

"Me?" he asked confused.

"Last year Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we alone but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned," Fury explained, using his hands to talk.

"My people want nothing but peace with your planet," Thor reasoned.

"But you're not the only people out there are you? And, you're not the only threat. The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled."

"Like you controlled the cube?" Steve countered.

"Yeah what is that all about Fury?" I asked him. I was tired of these merry go round answers. I want real ones.

"You're work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is the signal to all realms that the Earth is ready for a higher form of war."

"What do you mean a higher form?" I asked out loud.

"You forced our hand. We had to come up with something," Fury said, trying to justify all of this.

"Nuclear deterrent. 'Cause that always calms everything right down," Tony stated, he was just as skeptical as I was at this point.

"Remind me again how you made your fortune, Stark?" Fury shot back at him.

"I'm sure if he still made," Steve started.

Tony interrupted him, "Wait! Wait! Hold on! How is weapons.."

Steve cut him off and continued, "Stark would be neck deep."

"Now this is about me?" Tony asked surprised that this somehow turned around on him.

"I'm sorry isn't everything?" I fired his way. I could feel myself giving him a hard stare. All of this was becoming too much. I needed something to put all this anger towards.

"Oh really? Let's have a look at your files then Agent Smith because I had a sneak peek at one earlier and there is a reason why your code name isn't miss innocence."

I could feel my face heat up and Steve's eyes on me. My blood was boiling and took everything inside me not to mess around with his brain and send an energy bolt his way, which I recently learned how to use.

At this point everyone was arguing and I could start hearing a bunch of different conversations dancing around in my mind. If there were a lot of thoughts swirling around in my vicinity sometimes it can get really overwhelming and peoples thoughts start to go in and out of my mind. I can't help it at that point.

I try focusing on what is going on around me to tune out what is going on inside my own brain. As I tune back in Fury is telling Bruce  he needs to step away.

Tony puts an arm around both Steve and I, "Why shouldn't the guy let off a little steam?"

Steve throws Tony's arm off of him, "you know damn well why! Back off!"

Tony then takes his arm off of me and gets in Steve's face, "Oh , I'm starting to want you to make me."

"Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?" Steve threatened, his voice serious as he spoke.

"Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist," Tony rattles off, full of self confidence.

"You forgot one," I told him.

"Oh what's that?" he said with a smirk on his face.

"Jack ass."

Before Tony could dish anything else back at me Steve continues, "I know guys with none of that worth ten of you. Yeah I've seen the footage. The only thing you fight for is yourself. You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you."

"I think I would just cut the wire," Tony states, looking smug as ever.

Steve just smiles, man that smile was amazing. How could I be thinking that in the middle of a huge argument? I just wish I could explain my past to him before it gets out and told all wrong.

"Always a way out. You know, you may not be a threat, but you better stop pretending to be a hero."

I could see that really ignited something in Tony. He didn't come back with a leisurely sarcastic response.

"A hero? Like what? Like you two? You're a lab rat, Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle," Tony started, " and your little girlfriend here isn't so innocent either, she was on the wrong side of the line before she could talk. You think that isn't how she will always be? Once you're raised a certain way there is not truly switching sides. Not when the place she came from instilled in her mind what was right and wrong and trust me this side isn't the right one to her."

I could feel my face turning red from both embarrassment and anger, "you don't know anything about me Stark or where I came from."

"Doesn't matter, you are who you are."

"Yes it does, what happened in her past isn't any concern of yours, besides aren't you the one who used to sell weapons?"

"Oh defending your sweet girlfriend's reputation?"

Steve was beyond angry at this point, "put on the suit, lets go a few rounds. She could kick your ass too."

"You people are so petty and tiny," I could hear Thor say in the background.

Before anything else was said between Steve, Tony, or I we heard Bruce say something unsettling.

"In case you needed to kill  me, but you can't! I know! I tried!"

He continued what he was saying trying to explain to everyone. I knew all of us were wearing different looks upon our faces, mostly resembling all of our own pain.

"I got low. I didn't see an end, so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out. So I moved on. I focused on helping other people. I was good, until you dragged me back into this freak show and put everyone here at risk!"

We all watch as he is getting visibly more upset and is looking dead on at Romanoff.

"You wanna know my secret, Agent Romanoff? You wanna know how I stay calm?"

I watch as Natasha and Fury slowly put their hands on their guns. Steve puts an arm out in front of me and slowly pushes me behind him. I grip his arm and don't want to let go. I don't want to know how ugly this could get.

"Doctor Banner.. put down the scepter," Steve tells him.

I see Bruce look down at his hands confused. For just a moment I reach into his mind and can hear two voices arguing against each other. One calm and the other very angry. I tried to calm down the angry side but there was nothing I could do. The computer then beeps before I can reach any further into his mind.

"Got it," Tony sys

Bruce puts down the scepter, " sorry kids you don't get to see my little party trick after all."

"Located the tesseract?" Thor asks.

"I can get there faster," Tony calls out.

"Look, all of us," Steve starts but gets interrupted by Thor.

"The Tesseract belongs on Asgard, no human is match for it."

Tony turns to leave but I grab his arm to stop him. He turns around and gives me a look and shakes my arm off.

"You're not going alone," I tell him.

"I'll be going too," Steve says behind me.

"Or what? Are the new power couple going to stop me?"

Steve and I give each other a look, I shrug at him and he gives me a nod.

"Him thinking we are a couple isn't really a bad thing," Steve says in a brain message.

"Well we should stick together you know, for survival," I say back to him.

I give him a flirty smile and he smiles back at me. Both of us were on the same page. Which felt nice I haven't found anyone who accepted me for me. Past and all. He turns back to Tony.

"Put on the suit, lets find out."

"I'm not afraid to hit an old man," Tony says to Steve, "However I don't want to hit the precious preschooler."

I hate that I looked so young, he kept getting me with that one.

"Put on the suit," I growl back.

I then hear Bruce yell, "oh my god!"

We then all go flying different directions.
