Rainbow walked into the house.
"Hey babe".
Rainbow saw Applejack walking down the stairs. The blonde walked over to her and gave her a kiss. Rainbow smiled.
"Sup Apples".
"Rainbow's here!!", Applejack called.
Applejack's dad walked in.
"Hey Rainbow".
He walked over to her and hugged her.
"Here".
He handed her a notebook.
"You left this here".
Rainbow made a face. "Uh you keep it. I don't want it anymore".
"Why not??", Applejack asked.
Rainbow shrugged. "I'm just not good at drawing so why bother??".
Applejack looked at her dad confused.
"But that mountain drawin' is turnin out good", Applejack said.
Rainbow shrugged. "I can't draw Applejack so drop it".
Applejack was confused. What was this sudden change in Rainbow??. Rainbow was excited to get started on this drawing for months. Why had she suddenly given up on it??.
"Okay then".
Applejack's dad spoke up.
"Wanna go play baseball??", he asked. "Ah heard you like to play sports".
Rainbow laughed. "I suck at sports. Sorry, but no".
Applejack's widened. RAINBOW SPORTSLORD DASH IS BAD AT SPORTS??.
Something wasn't right here.
"Who are you and what have you done with mah Rainbow??", she asked.
Rainbow laughed. "I'm right here Applejack. There's just things I can't do".
Rainbow shrugged. "Everyone has something they're bad at".
"But you love ta play sports especially baseball and soccer".
Rainbow rolled her eyes. She sat on the couch.
"I just said I'm no good at it. Why play if I'm not good??".
Applejack face palmed. "You're great at soccer. Better than everyone in school. What's gotten into ya??".
Rainbow shrugged.
"I guess I just finally saw the light and realized that I'm not good for much".
"Woah Woah woah".
Applejack's dad kneeled down.
"Now who told ya ah thing like that??".
"My dad".
The two looked at eachother.
"He tells me so many times that I can't draw. I finally realized that he was right. I was gunna draw that view of the mountains I told Applejack about. But then I realized just how bad at drawing I am. It looked horrible. So I just gave up. I can't draw to save my life".
Applejack bit her lip. She sighed. "Sing for me??. Ah wanna hear your voice".
Rainbow snorted and laughed. She laughed like it was the fun is thing in the world.
"Sing. Hahaha yeah right!!. I sound like a dying whale when I sing".
She finished laughing and sighed.
"I can't sing either".
Applejack's mouth popped open. She stared at her.
"Ah'm goin ta kill you".
Rainbow looked at her weird.
"What?? It's true. If you think I'm singing again, you're wrong".
Applejack's dad looked at her.
"Rainbow. Did someone tell you that??".
Rainbow nodded. "My dad. He was rig by about a lot of things. I can't sing, draw, dance, I'm bad at sports. And don't get me started on me".
Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"I'm u-".
Applejack slapped her hand over the girl's mouth.
"Babe. If you call yourself ugly, ah will kill you".
She removed her hand.
"Rainbow. That isn't true. You're great at all of those things. Your dad is so negative. You need ta come here more".
Rainbow looked at the floor.
"Rainbow".
The teen looked at the man in front of her.
"Don't ever listen when someone says you're no good at somethin. He don't know that. Have you ever shown him your drawins??".
Rainbow shook her head.
"Then how does he know you can't draw??. Have you ever played soccer or baseball with your dad??".
Rainbow shook her head.
"He doesn't like to do anything with me", she said.
"Well then, how does he know you're not good at sports??. You're only saying you're not good at anything because ya don't have anyone ta tell ya otherwise".
Rainbow shrugged.
"You think you can't do those things because you don't believe in yourself. Your dad tells you you can't. You mess up a few times, so ya think it must be true. Well it ain't true".
Rainbow looked away.
"You don't have anyone positive at home do ya??".
Rainbow shook her head. "No".
Applejack's dad frowned. He felt bad.
"Well. Ah know you can do those things. Applejack does too. So why don't ya just try again??. Just us in the park. C'mon".
Applejack grabbed her hand and lifted her up. Rainbow sighed.
"Okay. But don't say I didn't warn you".

Rainbow sighed. She picked up the bat in her hands.
"Are you sure??. What if i-".
"Rainbow", Applejack cut her off.
"Don't doubt yourself. We are not gunna let chu believe ah lie. Now get ready".
Rainbow raised the bat. Applejack's dad tossed the ball. Miss.
"This is pointless".
"No it ain't", he said. "C'mon. You can do it".
Miss. This went on for a while. Miss after miss. Rainbow sighed. She dropped the bat.
"I'm done".
She walked over to the sidewalk and sat down. She sighed.
"C'mon Rainbow".
Applejack sat down next to her girlfriend.
"Ya can't give up now".
Rainbow sighed. "I told you, I'm not good at it. Just leave it alone".
Applejack's dad came over to her.
"Oh come on Rainbow. You can't give up now".
"I already did", Rainbow grumbled.
The man squatted down.
"Rainbow. You have to try again. We know you can do".
Rainbow looked at him.
"Well I KNOW I can't. You want me to play but I can't. I'm not good. I suck. There".
Applejack looked around. She suddenly spotted a piece of orange chalk. Picking it she looked at it. She had an idea.
"Rainbow. Do something with this. Me and mah dad are gunna have ah few hits".
She dragged her confused dad away. Rainbow looked at the piece of chalk in her hand. She sighed and got bored. Looking around she looked at the big sidewalk. It looked empty.
Rainbow got in her knees. She decided to color it in. Looked around.
She spotted a banner with a sun. (Imagine princess Celestia's cutie mark). She looked down at the sidewalk. Rainbow began to copy the the banner design onto the sidewalk with the chalk.
Chalk got on her hands and knees. After a few minutes she stood up and backed up to take a look at the finished art.
"And ah thought you couldn't draw".
Rainbow jumped. She turned around to see Applejack and her dad standing there smiling. Rainbow blushed.
"Well technically This isn't drawing. It's........ chalk art".
"It's drawin", Applejack stated smiling. "Ah don't care if you think it's not, it is drawing. It's great. Looks exactly like that banner".
Rainbow gave a small shrug.
"I guess".
Applejack held out the bat. Rainbow backed up shaking her head.
"Nope. Not gunna happen".
Applejack nodd walking over to her. Her took Rainbow's shirt and brought her close to her.
"You're tryin again. Now C'mon".
Rainbow sighed. She took the bat.
"You must love to see me fail".
"No. We love to see you tryin", Applejack corrected.
They went back out to the field. Rainbow stood on the home plate.
"Ready??", Applejack's dad called.
"No", Rainbow yelled back.
"Oh well. Hit the ball".
He tossed the ball. Miss. Miss. Miss.
"Can't we just go home??. We've been at for an hour. I'm not gunna hit that ball".
Applejack placed a hand on her waist.
"Rainbow, stop it. We ain't leavin until you hit this ball. Now throw it back!!".
Rainbow sighed. She picked up the ball and threw it. It went too far.
"Oops. Sorry".
Applejack smiled.
"That was impressive. You have an arm".
Rainbow shrugged. "Eh not really. I'm not strong", she said.
Applejack jogged over to the ball. She threw it very to her dad. Her dad caught it and looked at Rainbow.
"C'mon Rainbow. You can do it. You have to try. Ah don't see ya trying", he said
Rainbow sighed. "What's the point??. I'm not good".
"Don't say that. Don't give up on yourself. We're not giving up. We'll do this every day this summer and make you swing until you hit it".
Rainbow let the bat drop and sat down.
"Can't you hear??. Are you both having hearing problems??. I CAN'T".
Rainbow was frustrated with them, with the bat and ball, with herself. She was done. She couldn't do it.
Suddenly she heard someone sit next to her.
"Ya know we won't give this up. We're apples. When we put our minds ta somethin, we don't give up. You're picking up that bat and tryin' again".
Rainbow looked at her.
"Isn't it obvious??. Can't you tell??. Are you blind??. I can't do it. I can't. I suck at it. I can't".
Applejack smirked at her.
"Is it because you can't or you won't?".
Rainbow looked at her confused.
"Ah think you're just messing with us", Applejack said. "Ah think you're just lazy that you don't want to hit so you say you can't so you dont have ta do it. That's just an excuse".
Rainbow glared at her.
"You think I lied. Why in the world would I say I can't do something and lie??!!".
Rainbow got mad fast. She got up. Applejack stood up as well and smirked.
"Ah think you can do it. You're just lazy. You can definitely hit that ball, but you lied just so we can spend time with ya. You want our attention".
Rainbow's face was red. Applejack had to refrain from laughing. She shorter girl looked ready to explode. It was so funny.
"FINE. I'LL GET THE DAMN BAT. I'LL SHOW YOU THAT I'M NOT LYING!!".
Rainbow stomped up the plate. She picked up the ball and bat. She threw the ball into the air and angrily swung with all her strength.
Clunk!.
Rainbow angrily watched the ball fly into the air and land down the field. It was a home run.
Rainbow threw the bat down and stomped over to Applejack and her dad.
"THERE!!. HAPPY??!!!. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW??!!. I HIT THE DAMN THING. I- wait what".
Her anger ceased to confusion. Applejack smirked.
"You made ah home run".
Rainbow looked at her shocked.
"I did??. Oh my gosh. I hit it".
Rainbow smiled. "I did it!!".
Applejack hugged the girl and spun her around.
Rainbow suddenly pulled away.
"Wait a minute". Rainbkw gasped. "You tricked me!!".
Applejack smiled and nodded. "Yup. But it worked".
Rainbow tried to be mad at her but couldn't bring herself to do it.
"I want to be mad at you but I can't. I did it!!".
Rainbow was do happy.
"See??. Told ya".
Rainbow crossed her arms.
"So??. I'm still bad at sports".
Applejack raised an eyebrow and held up a soccer ball.
"We're settling this once and fir all".
Rainbow groaned. "I'm gunna lose".
Applejack sighed and rolled her eyes.
"She is such a downer", she said to be herself.
"I'm right here!!".
Applejack smirked. "Ah know".

Rainbow crossed her arms.
"C'mon try it again", Applejack called.
"Guys. I'm hungry!!. And the score is two to ten. I suck at this".
"No. Don't say that. We're tryin this aging tomorrow. Let's go out ta celebrate that awesome home run you made earlier".
Rainbow smiled. The three left and went to the ice cream shop and few blocks away.

The next day Rainbow went over to Applejack's house and walked in.
"Let's get this train wreck over with so I can lose already and go home and spend my summer inside".
The three went to the park. They spent a good two hours of Rainbow standing there, letting Applejack beat her.
Applejack was pretty good at soccer. She could manage to keep the ball and kick it into the net but nothing more.
Rainbow stood there, arms crossed.
"Are we done??. I'm bored".
Applejack sighed. She looked at the ball. She kicked it over to Rainbow. The teen stared at it.
"Kick it".
Rainbow sighed. She kicked it a few feet away.
"Harder".
Rainbow looked at her.
"This is pointless. I'm not good at soccer. Now beat me again".
Applejack rolled her eyes. She walked over to Rainbow. She looked at the ball them at Rainbow.
"C'mon. You're not even trying".
Rainbow shrugged. "No point", she said. "I'm gunna lose even if I did anyway".
"Babe. Try. For me??".
Applejack made a puppy face. Rainbow groaned.
"Ugh. Fine. I'll try".
Applejack smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Thanks. You're the best".
Rainbow sighed.
"Stop talking and just win. That'll be the 15th time you've beat me".
"Just try ta win".
Rainbow nodded. She can try.
"Ready, set, go!!".
Rainbow snatched the ball and ran. The ball by her feet she smiled. She loved the feeling of playing soccer. The wind in her hair, the rush, her blood pumping, her hear racing.
She kicked the ball. It seemed to go a hundred miles a minute and right I to the net.
Rainbow cheered. She looked at Applejack, who stared at her shockingly.
"How did you do that??", Applejack asked.
Rainbow shrugged. "I tried".
Applejack smirked. She walked over to her and hugged her.
"Ah am so proud of you RD".
Rainbow smiled and shrugged. "It was nothin. And it was just once. That doesn't prove anything".
"Hey Rainbow!!".
The girls looked up at Applejack's dad. He ran up to them smiling.
"That was so cool. You got the ball in the net in less than 10 seconds. Ah'm proud of you".
Rainbow smiled again. "Thanks guys. That means alot. Haven't been told that in a while".
Rainbow sighed. "But still. That was only once".
Applejack smirked. "Ya see how many time you can beat me??".
Rainbow smirked. "Game on".
How Applejack loved to hear those words again. They played game after game slowly Rainbow began to get more confident with each goal. She did tricks with the ball that were almost impossible for anyone else they knew to do.
"Okay. That's. 30-0. Wanna go again??".
Applejack smiled. "I think you've learned your lesson. You said you weren't good at soccer".
Rainbow'seyes widened. "Oh".
She looked away and blushed. "Well um. I-I guess I can play a little".
Applejack frowned. "You have have no self-confidence whatsoever".
Rainbow shrugged. "Okay".
"C'mon let's go ta mah house. Ah think we proved ah point here".
Applejack smiled at her dad and gave him and high five. They went back to the house and chilled.
Rainbow was in Applejack's room. Applejack was making popcorn so.she was alone.
The teen looked around the room. Boring, boring, pic of the two together, boring, a notebook and pencil.
Rainbow but her lip. She got up and walked over to the notebook and picked it up. It was hers. It was opened to hr unfinished drawing.
She sat down on the bed, pencil in hand. She imagined the mountain view. Next thing she knew her pencil was moving across the page.
She drew, shaded, straight lines, wiggly ridges, skimming the pencil on the paper, she made the water and trees. She held up the notebook. It was finished. She bit her lip.
"Hey".
Rainbow looked up. Applejack was standing at the doorway.
"Whatcha got there babe??".
Applejack walked over to her.
"I just finished the mountain drawing. It's no good so you can keep it".
Rainbow handed her the notebook.
Applejack looked at it and gasped.
"I told you I can't draw".
"This is amazing!!".
Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "What??".
Applejack looked at her. "Rainbow. This great. Ah'm gunna show mah dad".
Applejack took Rainbow's hand and yanked her off the bed. Rainbow nearly feel but caught herself. They went downstairs to the living room.
"Dad. Look!!".
Applejack's dad looked over at them. Applejack handed him the notebook.
"Wow. This is amazin'. Who drew this??".
Applejack pointed at Rainbow. Applejack's dad smiled.
"Great job. See??. You're great at it. You just thought ya couldn't. Ah'm proud of ya".
Rainbow smiled. She looked away.
"Th-Thanks".
Applejack looked at her.
"You okay Rainbow??".
Rainbow looked anywhere but her. She nodded, blinking rapidly. Applejack looked back at her dad. The man stood up and walked over to the teen. Rainbow suddenly sniffled.
"Rainbow??. It's okay ta show cry".
Rainbow crossed her arms.
"I don't cry. I don't cry at home and I don't cry in front of you".
Her voice cracked. Applejack looked at her dad. He looked at Rainbow and hugged her. Rainbow immediately hugged back. She sniffled.
A tear ran down her face.
"Thanks".
"No problem. Anythin' fir you", he said.
Rainbow pulled away and wiped a tear away.
"Sorry. I just". She sighed. "You guys are the only people that told me I could do something. You didn't tell me I couldn't and proved me wrong when I got stubborn and thanks. I've never had anyone that would say that or do that for me".
Applejack frowned.
"Well. That changes. Your dad may not be ah real dad to ya but you'll have mah dad".
Rainbow smiled. Applejack wrapped arm around her. AJ kissed her temple.
"You guys are like the family I'll never have".
Applejack looked at her dad. He frowned.
"Well. Technically you do have us as a second family. Ah see you as ah daughter ta me and ah love you like one too".
He pulled Rainbow into a hug. Rainbow smiled. She had never felt this loved before.
"I love you guys too. You have no idea how much this means to me".
She pulled away.
"So you wanna watch the movie??", Applejack asked.
Rainbow nodded. They it comfortable and put the movie on, the lights off, popcorn in hand.
Rainbow couldn't be happier. With a girlfriend like Applejack and now a supportive father figure in her life, she was happy again. Forget her dad.
Rainbow could do anything as long as she believed she could and had someone cheering her on. Well, now she did.
