it hurt.

her heart.

her lungs.

her brain.

her chest.

everything.

she ached.

her entire being pained her.

her body and soul

missing a love

that was once hers.

a love she believed to be

infinite.

the air in her delicate lungs

rushed in and out,

but not easily

as it had before.

since she lost him

breathing was no longer second nature.

living was no longer top priority.

blinking was a chore.

one that she felt like giving up.

eternal sleep

is what she prayed for,

thoughts of such relief

dominated her once naive mind.

everyday she thought

"is now the time?"

but a silent voice

in the back

of her innermost being

told her

"no."

the voice told her to be patient.

relief would come,

just not yet.

the young girl

grew restless.

"when?"

she begged the anonymous voice,

"when will relief come?

when will this soul crushing pain,

be lifted off of my shoulders?"

"soon."

was all she heard

in reply.

seconds.

minutes.

hours.

days.

months.

a year.

all passed,

her only focus

was on the time.

tick tock

went her thoughts,

tick tock

tick tock

tick tock

tick tock

tick tock

on and on it went.

until

she

met

him.

and as their eyes met,

gazes interlocking,

the little voice

at the back of her mind spoke

one. last. time.

"now."
