With Koriannas well being assured a huge weight had been lifted off Khalil his intuition had always been on point. As tempting as the last minute trip to Houston sounded he stayed back to work and support his younger siblings while their parents were away.
Both Dreux and Danielle were disappointed they couldn't tag along but they had school, the Simmons instilled the value of education above all else in all their children. They might not of understood it now but they'd thank their parents for it once they were older Khalil was a living testimony often catching himself talking like Bishop.
"Lil can you check my homework?" Dani called from the kitchen
"Yeah here I come. Dreux what you wanna eat!?" he hollered upstairs to his younger brother.
Danielle sat slumped in the chair, hair ruffled, with papers covering the kitchen table. "Hmmm look up doordash or ubereats and pick something. Let me see your homework"
"I thought you were making us a jail pizza" Dani pouted, Khalil nearly choked on his own spit.
His siblings had never even visited a prison each time his parents asked if he wanted to see them he'd decline. Khalil didn't want them to see him behind bars or think that visiting a prison every month was normal. The only way she could've known about a jail pizza is through social media.
"Yeah that's enough TikTok and YouTube for ya lil ass."
As he glanced over Danielle's papers, he couldn't help but admire her determination, even amidst her pouting. Despite her reluctance to focus on schoolwork, Khalil knew she had the potential to excel academically.
"I can tell you rushing the left has to equal the right Chunks remember?"
"Stop calling me that" his baby sister whined Dani was a chubby baby weighing almost 10 lbs so naturally the family came up with a cute nickname. She had slimmed down by the time she was three but the nickname still stuck.
"Oh I forgot to tell you Dani doesn't like us calling her Chunks anymore. Some boy from her school overheard mama say it and has been teasing her about it" Dreux spoke eyes laser focused on his phone.
"Dreux who told you about that?"
"I heard you talking on the phone. You really should use your inside voice"
Khalil smiled at the exchange between Danielle and Dreux, the familiar banter bringing a sense of warmth to the room.
"Eavesdropping, huh? Well, I'll keep that in mind next time I'm on the phone. Hmmm pick what you want so I can order" he joked handing the phone over to Dreux who quickly added his item and rushed upstairs to FaceTime his girlfriend.
"Dani you sure you only want a salad? No pizza or wings on the side?" Khalil asked reviewing the order he knew exactly what she was doing. She mumbled a small yeah while neatly packing away her corrected homework.
"You know you can tell your big brother anything right?" Her hesitation made his chest tighten a younger Dani would've said yes with no hesitation his three years away had clearly affected his whole family.
"This boy in my class been bothering me sometimes the girls do too. 'Lil do you think I'm pretty?" This reminded him so much of Kori the tears in her eyes made his temples throb she was only 10 years old there was no reason her to be so self-cautious this young.
His shirt became damp from her small cries as he pulled her into a tight hug. "You're more than pretty Dani you're beautiful, intelligent, and kind. Don't let none of these lil niggas or lil bi- I mean girls tell you different.
When you walk outside you hold your head high and your standards even higher. Don't ever second guess yourself behind somebody else you understand?"
She nodded yes and finally stopped crying "Yes I understand and yeah I want some chicken wings and pizza thank youuuuu oh yeah is Leahbaby♥ your girlfrienddd?" she cooed
"Mhmm I knew ya lying ass wanted more than salad and don't worry bout what I got going on I'm grown"
She grinned wide and yelled "OUUUU I KNEW IT! DRUSKI YOU OWE ME $20 I TOLD YOU 'LIL HAD A GIRLFRIEND!" loud enough for Dreux to hear her upstairs
"Calm down Chunks she's just a friend but just cause Druski hating ass thought I get no ho- I mean women Imma let you rock so you can get ya money gang

"Oh ok y'all in the same class right?"
Dani stared at her big brother with a worried expression "Yeah but 'Lil please don't embarrass me and PLEASE DON'T tell mama and daddy" she begged
Khalil laughed remembering all the times Krishelle and Bishop caused a scene during his own school years but promised not to say anything to their parents.
He planned to handle it on his own anyway.
Meanwhile
"How are we feeling today mama?"
Sniffling back tears she muttered a good to her doctor who could clearly tell the girl was lying.
"Renee your blood pressure is 139/89 that's high and you seem to be losing weight if it were one or two pounds I wouldn't worry but you're down almost 7 pounds and at this stage of your pregnancy losing weight is concerning."
She knew the Doctor was right but there was no way she would tell this lady all her personal business. "It's probably the morning sickness I haven't been that hungry lately"
"Ok next time make sure you message me on the patient portal I could've written you a prescription sooner. Now lets take a look at the baby did you want to figure out the sex today?"
Happy tears blurred her view once she heard her childs heartbeat. "No I don't wanna know"
"You'll be happy to know baby is doing great I want you to take it easy though we wouldn't want you going into early labor. You're prescription should be ready in the next hour and I'll see you again next month"
Renee was now in her second trimester and felt completely alone. Symeir was always in the studio or busy traveling for shows which were all out of state. She was happy his career was blowing up but what about their child?
She could count on one hand how many appointments he attended there was always an excuse it made her wonder if Symeir even planned to stick around once the baby came. The thought of being a single mother kept her up most nights.
Pulling into her luxury condo she rolled her eyes at the two cars blocking her driveway
This nigga didn't have time to come to my appointment but had time to chill with people in my shit

Jacquees and Bluff Cities' soulful voices filled the home not enough to drown out the heavy moaning sounds coming from upstairs though. Renee couldn't believe her ears as she stomped up the stairs, blood boiling, chest full of anger she pushed her bedroom door open and almost gagged at the sight of some random girl riding Symeir in her bed
"Oh you must have a fucking death wish" Too shocked to react the girl was no match for Renees rage as she yanked her to the floor by her hair and repeatedly stomped her out.
"Calm down Nae damn you buggin out you forgot you pregnant!?" Symeir raised his voice in annoyance.
"Oh so now you remember I'm pregnant with your child? Symeir fuck you get the fuck outta my house, take this hoe with you, and leave my spare key since you won't be needing it"
He scoffed before nudging the girl on the ground and telling her it was time to go. Renee made sure he gave up his spare key 10 minutes later she heard the front door slam shut and broke down.
This wasn't the pregnancy experience she wanted at all and it hurt her to let him go but it had to be done.
Much too embarrassed to call her family for advice she wiped her own tears and rubbed her growing belly.
