For the rest of the day, I hung out with Missy, Sasha and Harps, occasionally seeing Quinni and Darren. No one had seen Amerie for the rest of the day, and the news went around the school that she had thrown a rock through a window, breaking it in the process.
The end of the day came fast and I was dreading going home and seeing my mother. So instead of going home, I decided to go and do my homework at the diner. After finishing my assignments it was just past 7 pm, I knew I'd probably get even more suited for staying out late, but oh well.
I packed up my laptop and shoved it into my bag, I walked out of the diner when my phone began to buzz. I took it out of my pocket and saw that Darren had started to call me, so I answered.
"Hey Darren"
"Hey Val, are you free tonight?" they asked.
"No, but it'll be hard to do anything if my mum grounds me. I'm not home yet but I will be in a second"
"Oh, yeah I was just wondering if I could spend the night?"
"Oh yeah no problem, even if I'm grounded you could come through the window. I'll let you know in a minute I've just got home"
"Okay see you later Val" They hung up the phone just as I was entering the house.
"Where the fuck have you been Valerie?!" I heard my mum's voice yell as I closed the door.
"Just at Harry's diner finishing my homework from today" I replied and started walking to my room.
"Got a call from your principal today! A sex map, and you're on it, is there something you need to tell me?" she yelled following me.
"Nope," I replied calmly.
"Well, I think there is, what have you done to be put on there, and don't bullshit me I know you had to have had sex to be on there! You're lucky your principal isn't telling me what you've done!" she continued yelling at me from my doorway.
"It was just one guy mum you don't need to worry" I told her.
"And who was this guy hmm" she raised her eyebrows bringing her voice down a little bit.
"I think that's personal information Mum" I replied.
"You're grounded!" she said.
"For how long?" I asked.
"For the rest of the term" She turned around to walk away leaving me dumbfounded.
"Mum you can't do that!" I yelled back at her following her out of my room.
"Oh yes I can and I will!" I shouted back coming to a stop in the kitchen "I didn't raise you to be a whore" she said in a normal tone but still fierce.
"I am not a whore Mum it was one time," I said trying to reason with her.
"I don't care, go to your room!" she yelled.
I huffed and stormed to my room slamming my door shut, at least she didn't take my phone. I took my phone out to message Darren.

About 5 minutes later I heard the sound of knocking on my window, I opened the curtains expecting to see Darren, but who I saw surprised me.
"Ant?" I asked opening my window.
"Hi Val" he climbed through my window uninvited "Listen I know this is like really random and shit"
"Why are you showing up at my window at 7:30?" I asked genuinely confused.
"Oh right, uh I just wanted to get out my house for a bit and I figured you only live a couple houses down so I just came here" he said.
"Okay then.." I replied "Darren is gonna be here soon, you can stay till they get here" I sat back down on my bed. "actually let's go on the roof so mum doesn't hear us talk" I got back up and headed for the window.
I sat on the window sill swinging my legs over, and then I grabbed onto the ladder sitting next to my window and climbed up to the roof. Not long after Ant followed me up, I took a cigarette out of my pocket and lit it taking a puff.
"So why did you need to get out of the house" I asked him handing him the joint.
"Mum's gone mental, I have to go to church three times a week now because of that fucking map," He said taking a puff of the cigarette. "What did your mum do?"
"Grounded me for the term" I sighed lying down on the roof. "we all know that's not gonna keep me inside" I laughed.

"Yeah, I was planning on bringing Darren and Quinni" I replied passing the cigarette back and forth.
"What do we have here" I heard Darren's voice come from the ladder, I sat up to see them peering over the ladder onto the roof.
"Hey Darren, Ant was just leaving" I invited Darren up onto the roof, which they accepted taking the joint from me.
"Was he now" they replied smugly and I gave them a look.
"Yep, bye Ant," I said waving to him as he climbed down the house.
"Bye Val, see you at the cemetery tomorrow then" he said before starting to go down.
I hummed in response and took my cigarette back from Darren.
"So, what's happening there?" Darren asked.
"Between me and Ant?" I laughed "nothing"
"Then why was he here" Darren raised their eyebrows.
"He just needed to get away from his mum, just like I am on the roof" I replied shutting down any thoughts they had. "Anyway, my mum grounded me for the rest of the fucking term, can you believe that?" I asked scoffing.
"What the bloody hell, how do you live with her" they asked taking the cigarette back from me.
"I wish I didn't have to, but since Dad decided to move to LA, I don't have an escape house anymore" I took back the joint.
"I am so sorry Val, I would welcome you to my house but it isn't any better" They again took the joint back, and passed it back.
"It's alright Darren, I've learnt to deal with it anyway" I inhaled smoke "Plus who thinks she's gonna stop me from going to parties" I exhaled.
Darren laughed, we lay out on the roof for a while before we had to go in. Since Darren had work in the morning and needed to get up early. It was their trial shift so I decided I go with them too.

I was standing on the other side of the window the next day with Darren as he worked inside the building. I had seen Amerie go inside a while ago with her mum but didn't bother mentioning it to Darren. I mean they couldn't do anything anyway cause they were working, so I decided to wait for their break.
"Extra sweet and sour sauce for an extra sweet and sour babe," they said giving a customer her food, I had noticed Cash's little gang of eshays a while ago too, and now Cash was walking up to the window where we were.
He leaned on the bench next to me and reached into the window for food, that was till Darren stopped him. "Oi, no way adlay, no freebies"
"It's mine" he replied.
"What you're a delivery driver?" Darren asked.
"Yeah" Cash replied "It's a good cover and that, and I do a deal on Thursdays you know. Half pride ketamine with any family combo" I laughed.
Darren cleared his throat "Are you serious?"
"No" Cash replied blatantly.
"Okay then eshay has a sense of humour" Darren smirked. "Oi if anyone asks I go to Brunos. Yea?"
Cash shrugged as Darren reached to hand him the bag, "You guys um going to the cemetery tonight?" Cash asked us.
"Yeah," I replied.
"See ya there" Cash started walking away.
"See ya" Darren replied as he walked away.
"That was a bit weird" I stated.
"Yeah," Darren replied.
"Wanna go check what Amerie's doing, I saw her walk in a while ago and she hasn't left yet" I smirked.
Darren smirked and walked up to the door while I walked up to the front door to meet them at the door to the kitchen.
"Look at the bangs on you Map Bitch" I heard them say from the other side of the door, then I saw them grab out their phone and take a photo "Not the bayang, the bayang, whoa, whoa, whoa," they said and walked out, I followed them to Amerie's table.
"Sup Dora," They said sitting down opposite her. I sat next to them. "Do you want me to fix that for you?" they asked taking a bite of her chips, I took some too because they are my favourite food, and I was just hungry.
"Please," Amerie said real quiet, kind of sounding like a whine more than words. I laughed quietly at her.

That is how we found ourselves on a roof in shopping carts with Quinni and Amerie. I was sitting in a cart with Quinni talking about some random things while Darren was fixing up Amerie's bangs, they were finishing up so I decided to turn my attention back to them.
"There, way less shit" Darren said handing Amerie the scissors.
"More like heaps less shit, thanks" Amerie replied looking at herself in the car mirror.
"Why did Harper punch you in the face?" Quinni asked and we all seemed more intrigued.
"I don't really know" Amerie said her mood dropping a little due to the topic change.
"Well you must have done something" Darren said.
"We went to a music festival last week. And after that, she just went ghost."
"Did you get into a fight?" Quinn asked.
"Yeah, but I can't remember what it was about we always fight"
"When is Harper's birthday?" Darren asked.
"November 21," Amerie said.

"Quinni" Darren cut her off, I coughed at the awkward tension.

"No," Amerie said with a smile on her face.
"Yes! You should have helped me before, come on let's go" Quinn said skipping away and I followed her, Darren pushing Amerie in the cart.
We stood up on a ledge leaning over the fence, Quinn with her fingers over her ears. "My best friend dumped me!" Amerie yelled as loud as she could. "Damn, that actually felt good."
"Told you," Quinni said smiling.
"Oh, um" Darren started "I'm a reject!" they yelled.
"My mums a cunt!" I yelled after Darren.

"Right, I'm really sorry about that. I should have never put it on the map" Amerie apologized.

"Make the most of it I'm definitely changing school" Amerie said.

"Hate to ruin the moment but speak for yourselves," I said coughing and looking around awkwardly, I noticed they were all staring at me like I ruined the moment, oh wait I did. "Oh come on my mum grounded me for the rest of the term you can't expect me to love you Am"
"Ok, what's this cemetery thing," Darren asked changing the topic.
"It's where everyone goes to hang out when our parents are home," I told him.
"Let's go," Darren said.
"No way" Amerie shit them down.
"Why not you just need to strut out there and own your shit," Darren said "Okay come on you've got both your eyebrows, a non-shit fringe. What else do you need?"
"Let's get mad!" Darren yelled again and Quinn started screaming with them, I just laughed at the sight.
