𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧

𝐌𝐲 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧, sun leaking in from the pink curtains of our cabin in Camp Half-Blood. between Arabella and I. She's been acting like this ever since Luke left Camp Half-Blood. Can I blame her? No, not really. I mean, I've never had a boyfriend, or ever came close to one, but she loved him. A lot.

"Bells, wake up." I mumble, sitting on the edge of her bed. "Do you wanna go for a walk?"

Bella grumbles, shifting around in her bed. "No."

"Can we go later?"

"No."

"Fine, I'll go myself."

"Have fun." She murmurs, turning around and closing her eyes tight.

"Bye."

I turn around, pulling my sleeves over my hands as I creep out of the cabin, not wanting to wake up anyone else. I pull on some white sneakers and head out, into the warm outdoors. Tucking a strand of dark hair behind my ear, I'm walking around camp when I hear someone coming from behind me. A familiar hand grabs my shoulder, and I glance to my side to see one of the Hermes boys, Ajax, grinning beside me.

"Arabella too tired?" He asked as we walked.

"Mhm. Elias didn't want to come?" I ask him, referring to his half-brother.

"Yep. It's just us, I guess."

"Yeah." I say as the conversation turns awkward, and we just walk around in silence. We eventually passed Percy, who was walking with Rachel, her fiery pretty hair cascading down her back. Ajax waves at Percy, but he just shoots a glare in my direction and keeps walking.

"What's up with him?" Ajax mutters.

"He hates me. And I hate him."

"Why? I thought everyone liked him."

"He stepped on my shoe when we were younger and I never forgot him."

Ajax's eyes furrow. "...What the hell?"

"Don't judge." I muttered, shuffling beside me as we walk.

"Hey, I'm not judging. I just think it's a little funny, that's all. Don't get cranky."

"I'm not cranky."

Ajax raises an eyebrow.

"Okay, maybe a little. I'm just tired."

"Yeah, I can tell."

We keep walking, eventually making it to the beach. My shoes drag across the warm sand, the sun glaring in my face. I unzip my light gray hoodie, bathing in the sun for a bit as Ajax walks towards the water, me following closely behind. He sits down near the shore, patting the sand for me to sit next to him. We stay silent, and you could hear a hairpin drop if it weren't for the waves.

About ten minutes or so later, I hear Ajax cough in an attempt to start talking. I glance over at him.

"Yeah?" I ask, it coming out more blunt and rude than intended.

"Hey, so I just wanted to say. I really like you." He says calmly, switching between looking at me and the ocean.

I stay quiet for a moment before speaking. "...Oh. Yeah, I like you too. You're a great friend." I say, rushed.

'Stupid, why did you say that?' I think to myself, annoyed, but Ajax just laughs quietly.

"No, I meant as in-"

"Hey, can you guys leave? The beach is kind of my spot." I hear a loud voice from behind interrupt our conversation. I take a glimpse in the direction and see familiar blonde hair. I shoot daggers at his blue eyes.

"Why would I leave? No, we want to stay." I say sharply.

"Aurora, it's fine, we can lea-"

"We're not leaving. Little seaweed brain isn't entitled to the beach."

"What did you just call me?" Percy snickered.

"Pay attention." I say slowly.

"Aurora, let's go." Ajax says sternly, and Percy mocks my earlier words as he walks farther down the beach.

"Fine." I snap at Ajax, before muttering a quick apology to him, and he nods, pursing his lips. We walk past Percy as we leave the beach, a large scowl on my face.

"You can continue what you were saying before." I say, feeling guilty as we walk around cabins.

"No, it's fine. I forgot what I was going to say."

"Oh, alright."

  ───────── ౨ৎ ─────────

Ajax drops me off at my cabin, looking down at me.

"See you around, Aurora Lavelle."

"See ya." I say, smiling and opening my cabin door to find Arabella sitting on her bed, staring at me. All of my other half siblings have left to do activities. "Hey."

"Who was that?" She asks sternly.

"Ajax."

"You walked with him? By yourself? You could've asked me to come with you."

"I did. You said no, because you were tired."

"You could've forced me to come."

"We both know you wouldn't agree." I say, sitting on my bed, taking off my shoes.

"I would, if you pressured me."

"Bells, I'm fourteen. I'm fine by myself."

"Where'd you go?"

"Around. The beach."

"You sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure, Arabella."

"Fine. Just don't let him break your heart, okay?"

"Bells, I don't like him in that way."

"Sure, sure. Did you see anyone else on the walk?"

"Percy Jackson." I say in a disgusted tone.

"Oh?"

"Yeah. Mr. 'I'm so much better because I'm a son of Poesidon.'"

"He's not that bad."

"Well, he didn't step on your new, pretty shoes when you were eleven."

"You're great at holding a grudge."

"What can I say? I learned from the best." I answer, staring at her dead in the eye before getting up and walking away. "I'm going to archery."
