Ninjago Crystalized: episode 14

Word Count: 1,4K

Warning: mild language.

(At the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Hounddog McBrag knocks on the doors.)

Wu: Yes?

Hounddog McBrag: Mornin', sir! That your vehicle parked over there?

Wu: Vehicle?

Hounddog McBrag: That one, sir.

Wu: That's the Destiny's Bounty. It belongs to the ninja.

Hounddog McBrag: Well, that's the problem, sir. You see, the ninja are fugitives from the law. Which means, that vehicle is evidence, and I gotta impound it.

Wu: Impound the Bounty? That's outrageous!

Hounddog McBrag: Be that as it may, it's my job. Kindly step aside, sir.

Wu: (He glares at him angrily, but reluctantly steps aside.) Very well.

Hounddog McBrag: C'mon, boys! Oh, uh, we passed the mailman on the way up. Thought we'd save him the trip.

Wu: It appears to have been opened.

Hounddog McBrag: Well, I wonder how that happened. I guess you can't trust anybody these days. You wouldn't happen to know where the ninja are right now, would you, sir?

Wu: So you can throw them back in prison?

Hounddog McBrag: That's where we put criminals. Yes.

Policeman: This is not working!

Wu: Apparently, it's also where you put heroes. Who have saved Ninjago many times over!

Hounddog McBrag: When they were heroes, they weren't my problem. When they became criminals, then they became my problem.

Wu: Regrettably, Marshal, I have no idea where the ninja are.

Hounddog McBrag: If you did, would you tell me?

Wu: I would not.

Hounddog McBrag: Oh, you got brass, old timer, I'll give you that! But don't let me find that you're helping them, or my next visit might not be so friendly. I might have to take you in.

Wu: That would be interesting to see.

Hounddog McBrag: Good day, sir.

(The police fly the Bounty away.)

Policeman: This is not working!

(In the hangar bay, Wu approaches P.I.X.A.L. and Morro.)

Wu: Where are the ninja?

Morro: Right now they're making their way along the abandoned N line.

P.I.X.A.L: They are approaching the coordinates where Lloyd vanished.

Wu: Zane, can you hear me?

Zane: Yes, Master Wu.

Wu: Be careful. I have a bad feeling about this.

Jay: Ugh, thanks for the encouragement.

Christina: How about some good news?

Wu: That federal marshal Hounddog McBrag was here. He confiscated the Bounty.

Kai: What?

Cole: How is that good news?

Wu: I'm afraid I don't have any good news. Be careful out there.

Zane: Affirmative.

(The ninja find a subway car.)

Jay: No ... way!

Christina: What is it bro?

Jay: Is that what I think it is?

Kai: If you think it's a rusted piece of junk blocking the tunnel, then yes.

Jay: That's not junk! That's a BRTM-12 subway car! Woo hoo!

Kai: What?

Jay: The BRTM-12 was the workforce of the old Ninjago City subway system. Back when it was all run by steam! These cars were discontinued over fifty years ago! This is a classic!

Kai: Lemme guess, he used to collect toy trains as a kid?

Christina: kind of, but mostly a lot of the time.

Jay: Ugh, no! I built model trains, thank you very much, and this is a very rare model. They don't build them like this anymore! This baby was engineered for strength and durability. Christina should know that cause I built them with her.

Christina: You built them most of the time, not me.

Kai: Thanks for the trivia. Now can we get back to trying to find out what happened to our friend Lloyd? Y'know, who vanished without a trace in this tunnel?

Jay: Right! Yes. Let's do it.

(The ninja run ahead, unaware that they are being tracked by a Crystal Spider.)

(In the Crystal Temple, Lloyd wakes up in a cage over a pool of lava. He attempts to escape by using his powers.)

Harumi: Don't bother. They're made of Vengestone.

Lloyd: Whatever it is you're planning, Harumi, you don't have to go through with it. You can change your mind.

Harumi: Can I? Really?

Lloyd: Yes. It doesn't have to be like this!

Harumi: Are you sure? (She smirks.) Oh, Lloyd. So trusting, so gullible.

Lloyd: You tricked me once —

Harumi: And you think you learned from it? But you haven't, clearly. Because you are trusting and gullible and weak. Which is why you are bound to lose.

Lloyd: Rumi. I know you think I failed you, and you're angry with me.

Harumi: If, by failed, you mean didn't save my life and let a building fall on me, then yes. I admit, I was a little ticked about that.

Lloyd: So direct your anger at me. Not everyone else! I know you don't want innocent people hurt.

Harumi: (She closes her eyes, then opens them, and they glow purple.) You know nothing about me. But I know you, Lloyd. Deep down, I know there's a darkness in you. You fight it, you try to push it away, but it's there.

Lloyd: I don't know what you're talking about.

Harumi: You don't have to pretend with me. You're part Oni, like your father Garmadon. That's the strong part.

Lloyd: I am nothing like my father.

(The computer beeps. On screen, Kai, Jay, Christina, Cole, and Zane are navigating through the subway tunnels.)

Lloyd: It's over, Harumi. They're gonna find your little subway station, and it's only a matter of time before they find this place.

Harumi: (mockingly) Oh, no! What am I going to do? Oh, wait. I planned for this. In fact, I was counting on it. Which is why I left behind a little surprise for your friends. (She presses a button. Purple dots appear on the radar, surrounding the yellow dots representing the ninja.)

Lloyd: What?

Harumi: There's too much at stake, Lloyd. I left nothing to chance. I'm sorry.

(In the subway tunnels, the ninja are searching for clues.)

Zane: Huh?

Cole: What's wrong?

Zane: My acoustic sensors are picking up a faint sound.

Christina: What kind of sound?

Zane: A soft clicking sound. Like ... tapping, almost.

Kai: Okay. Everyone, spread out. Look around.

Jay: What are we looking for?

Kai: I don't know. A machine, something weird. Anything out of place.

(In the Crystal Temple, Harumi taunts Lloyd.)

Harumi: Any last words? Say them now.

Lloyd: You can't do this! Turn it off. Harumi! Please!

Harumi: I can't, Lloyd. I mean, I could, technically. But I want to.

Lloyd: I'll do whatever you want. I — I promise! Just don't hurt them!

Harumi: Oh, Lloyd. You're not exactly in a position to bargain.

Lloyd: Harumi! Don't do this!

Computer: Spiders armed.

(In the tunnels, Cole crouches and places a hand on the tracks.)

Cole: Huh. (He looks up to see the crystal spiders.) Spider bombs. Lots and lots of spider bombs! Run! Run! It's a trap!

Harumi: Bang. (She presses a button.)

(The ninja retreat into the BRTM-12 just before the bombs explode.)

(In the hangar bay, Wu and the others watch as the ninja disappear from the map.)

Wu: What happened?

P.I.X.A.L.: I do not know. Sensors are picking up an explosion of some kind.

(At the Crystal Temple, Harumi turns from the computer.)

Harumi: They're gone, Lloyd. I'm sorry.

Lloyd: How could you...?

Harumi: But there's no reason for you to be destroyed too. You can still join us. There will be a place for you in the dark.
(Lloyd started to feel mad and starts to cry of anger and sadness)

(In the subway car, Kai lights a fire.)

Jay: Told ya. Engineered for strength and durability. Haha!

Cole: How about a way out?

Jay: No idea.

(At the crystal temple, Lloyd was enraged and tried to break out of the cage)

Harumi: Lloyd, focus. What's done is done. You have a choice now. You can resist and perish like your friends ... or, you can join us, and embrace the power of the Crystal King.

Lloyd: Never! I'll resist you with every ounce of my being. And so will Master Wu and Nya, and Morro, and P.I.X.A.L.!

Harumi: Not for long they won't. I told you, I left nothing to chance. I plan to deal with your friends next. It's all part of my design.

Lloyd: No!

(Enraged, Lloyd's eyes glow purple. He breaks out of the cage and attacks Harumi and Mister F.)

Harumi: That's the spirit. Just like your father! Anger makes you stronger!

Lloyd: Don't! Say! That! (He unleashes purple energy and knocks Harumi down.) No. No! (He shakes his hands and the purple glow vanishes. Mister F shoots him and he falls unconscious.)

Harumi: Welcome back, son of Garmadon.
