Half an hour later, Ryujin was in the corner cafeteria, sitting alone at a table, eating her lunch while talking to Yuna on the phone.
"Yes, I decided to stay with her, so you can go home to see her, the keys are under the doormat."
"Awww, it's great that you decided to stay with her, I already want to see her." Yuna said in a high-pitched voice and Ryujin rolled her eyes.
"That doesn't mean I'm going to have you at my house all day, okay?" She said in a mocking tone, settling back in the seat, after having finished eating.
"Ouch! You're bad!" Yuna said and Ryujin was sure she was pouting. "And what will you call her?"
The short-haired girl thought about that name that had strangely come to her mind the night before.
"Yeji." She said, looking out the window of the place, seeing the people walking and the cars driving as usual.
"Yeji? Where did you get that name?" Yuna asked looking really intrigued.
"Hmm..." She shrugged. "Don't know."
Yuna snorted and laughed.
"Okay, cat lady. I have to go back to class, but in a few hours, I'll be at your apartment to see cute Yeji again."
"Okay, just don't make messes in my house, understand?"
Yuna snorted and Ryujin smiled.
"Shut up, I won't. See you Jinnie!"
Ryujin put her phone in her pocket and indicated to the waitress who had been making eyes at her since she arrived, that she could bring her the bill.
Minutes later the girl approached her table with the bill and before taking the money away, she put a small napkin on the table and winked at the short-haired, walking away from her.
Ryujin took the paper in her hands and it was a phone number, she smiled and put it in her pocket, the girl was cute and maybe if she felt like it, she would write to her sometime, or maybe that number would just stay in that piece of paper forever.
Back to work and back to routine. A few hours later Yuna sent her a photo of the cat lying on her lap, staring at the camera with her beautiful grayish eyes.
Yuna: Yeji says hello to you and she also says that she wants to see you, so come home, as soon as possible.
Ryujin rolled her eyes with a smile and continued with her work until it was time to leave.
She had a small conversation with Heejin before leaving and then got on her bike to drive to her house, but not before picking up a box of fried chicken that she knew, was her sister's favorite and a little buildable bed for Yeji.
When she arrived, she opened the door to find Yuna playing with Yeji's tummy on the floor.
"Ohh Jinnie!" Yuna exclaimed looking at her sister, as she put the things on the kitchen island.
But when she looked back at the cat, she was no longer there, she had run to Ryujin's feet to greet her.
"Oh Yeji, how was it with my sister, did she treat you well?" Ryujin smiled watching the cat, as it rubbed against her legs.
She bent down and stroked the purring kitten's orange fur, as she felt Yuna's footsteps approaching her.
"Well, do you say hello to her first? What about me? Your sister!" Yuna crossed her arms pouting and Ryujin stood up, rolling her eyes at her sister, as she smiled.
"I brought you fried chicken, Hussey." She told her and Yuna's eyes brightened and shone like a puppy's.
"Yayyyyy, I love you!" Yuna gave her a hug, which Ryujin reciprocated.
"Meow!" They both heard Yeji's meow and smiled.
"And for you, I bought you a little bed." Ryujin took the bag out of her bag and Yuna clapped like a baby seal.
"Can I help you put it together?! Please say yes, I already called my mom and told her I would be here all afternoon, so I can help you and the you take me home."
Ryujin rolled her eyes and nodded, receiving a pinch on the cheek from her sister.
They both sat at the table to eat the chicken, Yuna ate almost everything, while Ryujin only ate two pieces and kept the rest in the fridge.
Minutes later the two were on the floor, putting together Yeji's bed, while the cat was curled up in Ryujin's legs.
"That doesn't go there Yuna, it goes on the other side."
Yuna frowned at her and took the instruction book, that looked like it could be used to assemble a complete house and began to read it and look at the illustrative images.
"But look, here it says that-" When she looked back at Ryujin, the bed was already finished.
"What were you saying?" Ryujin told her and Yuna rolled her eyes smiling.
"Well at least you'll have your own bed to sleep in and you won't have to smell my sister's farts all night." Yuna said to the cat, stroking her head and then she whinned, when she felt Ryujin pinch her arm.
"The only one here who farts while sleeping is you." Ryujin told her and before getting up from the floor, she put Yeji on her new bed.
The cat was asleep, but she immediately opened its eyes, when she was placed on the padded surface.
"Ha, of course miss 'I talk in my sleep' about Heejin, my only love." Yuna told her in a mocking tone and she had to get away from Ryujin, because her older sister was going to hit her.
"Be thankful I'm tired and I'm going to take a bath, will you stay here with Yeji?"
Ryujin asked her and Yuna crouched down in front of the cat to caress her fur, but she couldn't do it, because Yeji left the bed and followed Ryujin who was on her way to her room.
"Well, I'll watch some TV, because I think you'll have company!"
Ryujin heard her sister scream from the living room, but she ignored her and entered her room. She closed the door without realizing that the cat had entered behind her.
She began to undress, before entering the bathroom, leaving the door open, since she was sure that her sister would not enter her room.
But without knowing that she would have another type of visitor.
The short-haired girl got into the shower and she closed the transparent door to take a hot shower and wash her hair.
She enjoyed those fifteen minutes under the warm water that ran all over her body, but she didn't want to delay much longer, since she knew that her sister might get bored being alone.
To her surprise, when she opened the shower door to get out, her eyes met the feline eyes of the naughty orange cat, who was sitting, as if waiting for her, in the door frame.
"Jesus... you scared me, Yeji. I didn't know you were here." She said softly, as she took the towel and wrapped it around her body. "I think you're a bit of a nosy kitten."
She dressed in comfortable clothes and soon after she left the room on her way to the living room with Yeji in her arms.
Yuna was on the couch, asleep while the TV was on a boring show. The short-haired woman rolled her eyes and put Yeji on Yuna's belly, to wake her up.
"Oh mmhh, I didn't realize when I fell asleep..." Yuna said slowly opening her eyes. "Ohh hello, Yiyi."
She stroked Yeji's fur, while Ryujin sat next to her. Although it didn't take long for the cat to notice and she sat on Ryujin's lap.
"If you want, you can stay here, you sleep with me in my bed, like when we were girls." Ryujin said, stroking Yeji's head, who snuggled into her lap.
"No, I think it's time to go, tomorrow I have an exhibition and I have to study and all my books and stuff are at home, so..."
Ryujin nodded. Yuna brought her hand closer to Yeji and started rubbing it.
"How is mom?"
"I think she is much better, I see her in a better mood and she asked me about you before coming here, you should visit us more often." Yuna replied and Ryujin smiled.
At least her relationship with her mother seemed not so strained.
"Okay, I will do. I'll take you, come on." Ryujin said and took Yeji to place her on the couch.
"Meow!" They heard her meow and Yuna chuckled.
"It looks like she wants you to take her with us."
Ryujin smiled and shook her head.
"No, she'll stay here waiting like a good girl, right Yeji?" The short-haired girl asked the cat, looking directly at her.
"Meoow!"
Yuna laughed and they watched her get off the couch to sit on the floor and lick her paws.
"Well it looks like she listened to you." Yuna said and Ryujin nodded. "See you around, Yeji kitten!"
They heard the cat's meow just before leaving and they both laughed.
The way to her mother's house was not very long, Ryujin left Yuna a corner before the house, so that her mother would not catch her driving the bike and after saying goodbye to her with a hug, she went back to the road and passed by the florist, noticing the sign in pink light was on, which was unusual.
She decided to park the bike on a corner and get to Mrs. Park's flower shop. It was almost eight at night and it was strange that the lights were still on, since she always closed at 6.
"Mrs. Park?!" She exclaimed, looking everywhere, there was no one in the place, apparently, but after a few seconds, she felt footsteps behind that curtain.
"Hello- ohhh Ryujin, but what a surprise!" Mrs. Park said somewhat surprised, since Ryujin came to her place only on Sundays.
"Well, same thing. I was passing by here and I saw the lights on, I thought it closed at 6."
"Oh yes, it's just that I'm waiting for my supplier, who informed me that he would come in half an hour, since it was impossible for him to arrive earlier. Would you like something to drink? I'm making tea."
Mrs. Park told her and Ryujin nodded smiling. Actually, all she wanted to do was go home and sleep, but she was a little embarrassed to say no. So she accepted and walked behind her towards the curtain.
Ryujin had never been behind the curtain and what she could see was a kind of small room, with a television, sofas and coffee table.
"Sit down, I'll get the cups..." Mrs. Park informed and she nodded, sitting on the couch in front of the television where the same gossip shows that Yuna was watching, were playing.
Seconds later, Mrs. Park appeared with the two steaming cups of tea and placed them on the coffee table, sitting next to Ryujin.
"Thank you." She said to the woman, taking one of the cups.
"You're welcome, honey, and ohhh before I forget. I have something for you." Mrs. Park got up again and went to a small cabinet next to the tv, looking for something inside it.
Ryujin focused her gaze on the tv, although nothing that was being shown seemed to be important and then, Mrs. Park returned to the couch.
"Here." The lady said and Ryujin frowned at her, taking the pretty pink necklace with a bell in it. "It's for the kitten."
"Oh, thank you." Ryujin said. "But how do you know I kept her and didn't give her to an animal shelter or give her to someone else?"
She asked smiling, knowing that if it weren't for the mess she made at Heejin's house and the fact that her mother didn't accept Yeji at her house, she wouldn't have the cat now.
"I had a feeling that you would own her, that you would stay with her."
Ryujin smiled looking at the small necklace in her hand. She didn't know if she would own it for long, but she liked the company.
