Now that visitors are finally allowed to go, Peter is quick to get to his mentor. With flowers in his hand, the young hero intends to make his mentor feel better. Once he sees the bruised up man, Peter forces himself a kind smile.
"Hey Mr. Stark."
"Hey kiddo." Tony smirks. Peter walks over to him. He places the bouquet on the counter before sitting down on the chair next to the bed. "You bought me flowers? You're a sweetheart."
"Thanks." Peter smiles. "How are you, Mr. Stark?"
"Almost died but besides that, I'm good." Tony nods. "Only problem is... well, the problem still exists."
Peter is curious what happened to him. "What happened?"
"Well, my past caught up to me. I messed up someone's life, and he wanted me to pay the price. Let that be a lesson, Peter. Whatever bad you can do against someone else will get you back."
Peter hums, looking a bit morbid by the thought of it. "I'm sorry to hear that. But you changed. You're a good guy."
"Thanks kiddo. I wished he did though. Maybe then I wouldn't be here." The billionaire chuckles, causing the young boy to laugh along.
As they laugh, Peter remembers something odd what Tony just said. "You said the problem still exists?"
"Yeah. It's kinda hard to avoid the past when he's a teammate."
Peter looks shocked. "He's an Avenger!?"
"Yeah, but don't hold a grudge against him. He's still a kid."
That's when Spider-Man knows who it is. "Is it Y/N?"
"Yes. You know him?"
It takes a few seconds before Peter respond. "...He's my boyfriend, Mr. Stark."
"Oh..." Tony looks awkwardly at the upset teen. "I'm sure he's a better boyfriend then a teammate." He tries to joke to lighten the mood, only to see Peter's stoic face.
-
When he received a text from Peter, Y/N is excited to meet up with him. With flowers in his hand, he awaits at a nook inside of the Avengers Base. He remembers what the text said, 'We need to talk', which is only good news according to Y/N.
Once he sees Peter walking towards him with an upset face, he wonders something happened with him. "Hey, got you flowers. I totally sto- bought it because I want to cheer-"
"You almost killed Mr. Stark!"
Y/N definitely didn't expect that. "Yes." Peter awaits until Y/N continues his explanation, though he won't continue.
"Seriously? Just 'Yes'?"
"Yes."
"W-W-Why!? Why on earth do you want to kill him!?"
Y/N then scowls. "Why not? He killed my parents."
Peter gasp. "W-What!?" He looks flustered by the news, but still find it wrong. "Y-You tried to kill him! There is nothing you can justify about that!"
"And you defend the man who killed my parents and other countless people?"
Peter frowns. With that logic, he can't think of a good comeback. He's still persistence about his stance, but he doesn't know what to say. "I-I..." With nothing else to say, he just turns around and storms away.
-
The twins walk in the living room, seeing Y/N lying down on a couch. He looks rather bored and upset, which they notice.
"Everything alright?" Wanda asks.
Y/N looks back at the two for a second before looking back at the tv. "I think I broke up with Peter."
"Huh?" Both of the twins reply at once. They walk over to the other side to look at their little brother.
"What happened?" Pietro asks.
"He found out that I almost killed Tony."
Both of the adults frown. They curse themselves that they should've know this could happen.
"I'm sorry, Y/N." Wanda gently says.
She realizes this relationship would end up badly, since Peter's loyalty overshadows his newly relationship with Y/N. Pietro, however, has a different idea.
-
As Pietro walks to Peter at the training ground, the young guy already knows why he's approaching him.
"We need to talk."
"I won't get back with Y/N. Sorry."
Pietro stops Peter as he tried to get back to his training. "Look, I get it. Y/N made a mistake."
"He almost killed Mr. Stark."
"Which is the mistake." Pietro nods. "I just want to share how Y/N thinks." Peter then stops resisting and allows Pietro to explain. "He was quiet young when the bomb dropped. Ever since that day, Wanda and I raised him with the believe Tony Stark killed our parents and put us in a position of constant suffering. We even risked our lives to get our powers in order to get a chance to have our revenge. And when Ultron came, we thought it was the perfect opportunity. But then that robot tried to kill humanity and we switch sides. I have to be honest that I still have a part of me that hates Stark, but I put it besides and not act on it. Y/N is different. He grew up with hate for him. He doesn't know any different. And he's still a kid. He's still learning to deal with his emotions and stuff. ...Saying all of that makes me realize maybe we didn't raise him the best."
Peter thinks about what Pietro has said. He feels sympathy for him, though... "I'm sorry to hear that, but... he almost killed the man who believed in me and allow me to be the hero I am today. I owe him so much. I can't be in a relationship with someone that wants to kill him."
Pietro sighs but understands. "That's fine..." He shows a small smile. "Thank you for listening."
-
Peter is really happy when his mentor got discharged from the hospital. He's quick to greet him and help him out. This goes on for the rest of the day, to the point Peter is showing off his gadgets to Tony. While he's listening, he remembers what Peter has said.
"I'm glad you didn't slack off." Tony says as he sits on his chair. He gestures to the teen to sit down next to him, which he did. "But now I need to talk to you, man to man."
Peter looks confused. "Okay?"
"Remember when you said you were dating the guy who put me in the hospital?"
"O-Oh!" Peter quickly looks apologetic. "Don't worry about that! I'm not seeing him anymore."
"Really? Why?"
Peter is surprised why he's asking. "Mr. Stark, he almost killed you."
"I know. He didn't tried to kill you though."
It takes a second to Peter to realize what he's saying. "You're saying I shouldn't broke up with him?"
"Did he made you happy before you discovered what he did?"
"...Yes?"
"Then you have it."
The young hero only looks more confused. "Y-You're okay with this?"
"Honestly, yes."
"But why?"
"Because I don't blame him for hating me." Tony admits. "Back in the days, I didn't realized how many people got hurt just because I made those weapons. Not just soldiers, but innocent people too. And thanks to that, orphans were created... and it's all my fault."
"Mr. Stark..."
"It's alright, kid." Tony assures. "I'm glad I left that business... but it hasn't left me. And now, I always be reminded by the twins... and their lil' brother." He shows a sad smirk. Peter remains quiet. "Peter, would you hate me if you discovered your parents got killed by my weapons."
It takes a couple of seconds before Peter responds. "...No."
Tony chuckles. "Stop being so modest. Especially when you're bad at it. Now, imagine that being reality, and now you know how Y/N feels. Only difference is that his childhood was rough, while you got a sweet aunt and uncle."
Peter sighs, thinking about it. "You think I should continue dating Y/N?"
"If you want."
-
Peter walks over to the Maximoff siblings in the training room, only to speak to one specifically. When he disrupts the three chatting, they look surprised to see Peter talking to him.
"Can I talk to you?"
"You already are."
The twins frown, with Wanda giving a soft jab to Y/N's shoulder. "Don't be so snarky."
With a mischievous smirk, Y/N walks together with Peter to the side.
"I talked to Stark..." Peter started. "...He didn't blame you for what he did."
"He didn't?" Y/N is surprised a bit, expecting him to at least kick him out of the team.
"Yes. I think he feels guilty for what he did." Y/N remains quiet, feeling doubtful, but also thinks there may be some truth behind it. "And although I don't fully forgive what you did... I... I understand where you came from."
Y/N hums. "So... what now?"
"That depends. What will you do now that he's back?"
The mutant thinks for a bit. "I still hate him, and I still want him to pay for what he did. But Pietro and Wanda yelped at me if I tried to kill him again, saying how disappointed they would be for me. So... I'm currently thinking of how to screw him over without hurting him."
Peter raises an eyebrow. "For example?"
"Putting laxatives in his food, creating fake rumors, shrinking his clothes so he feels self-conscious... basically giving him something to feel self-conscious about."
"Wow..." Peter mutters. "That is... really evil and screwed up... but at least it's better than killing him."
Y/N smirks. "Yes, it's way better. This way, he suffers more while he lives instead of killing him and that's it."
Peter didn't expect him to respond that way. "...You're really hard to read sometimes, Y/N."
"You think? I find it easy." Y/N casually comments.
Peter chuckles. "Anyway, I want to apologize of how I reacted... somewhat. I think it won't be easy, but I feel we can work things out. I want to give everything for Mr. Stark, and I should be fine with you feeling the opposite."
"I guess that same applies for me too." Y/N comments. "As long as you don't tell my plans to him."
"As long you don't crazy with the laxatives, or any other medical stuff, I won't say a word."
Y/N smiles. "Deal."
On the other side of the room, Pietro and Wanda watches the two work things out. Once they see them together walking away, they smile.
"They work things out." Wanda smiles.
"I just hope he didn't tell him about the laxatives." Pietro prays.
Wanda looks back at her brother. "What laxatives?"
Pietro remains quiet as he looks back. "...I just gave some advice, brother to brother. But that's his idea."
"Pietro, what did you say?" Wanda slowly says. Right about Pietro was going to answer, he disappears within a blip, making the Scarlet Witch groan annoyed. "Damnit Pietro!"
