CAMERON

I felt my blood boil as her arrogance radiated from every pore. Lara rolled her eyes dismissively, glancing at Elle's attire. My protective instincts kicked in, and I couldn't bear to see her hurt. "Lara that's enough. Your comment was uncalled for and unnecessary. Please, leave us alone." I replied firmly, my gaze fixed on her.

Lara sneered. "Fine have it your way, Cam. I have more important things to do." She muttered.

Elle's face changed from surprise to calm to discomfort as Lara moved further away. She thanked me for handling the situation, and I couldn't help but smile at her. "Elle, you never have to worry. I'll have your back, whether you're around or not."

With a blink of her eyes, her face softened into a gentler look. Her lips parted slightly, as if she longed to say something, and transformed into a subtle smile. A wave of warmth washed over me, confirming that I had effectively expressed the depth of my emotions for her. Moving closer, she leaned in, and I could feel the tangible tension and unspoken feelings lingering in the air.

The air crackled with tension as she leaned even closer. And then, before I could even comprehend what was happening, she was kissing me. Her lips crashed into mine with a force that stole my breath away, her hands were on mine.

For a moment, I was lost in the sensation, the taste of her lips, the softness of her touch. Surprised by the suddenness of it all, I momentarily froze, feeling foolish. However, as the kiss intensified, everything else seemed to fade away, leaving only the sensation of her lips on mine and the sound of my heart pounding in my ears.

We pulled away slightly, my eyes widening with shock as I glanced around. We were sitting in the middle of the bustling crowd.

"What was that for?"

"That was a you're welcome gift."

Keeping us a secret was crucial. Her brother couldn't find out about us, not yet. And yet, here we are, practically broadcasting our affection for the whole world to see.

"Wow," I chuckled. "Didn't know you were a fan of public displays of affection."

She nodded. "I know, I'm sorry. I just... I couldn't help myself." Her cheeks flushed a deep shade of crimson. "And you looked so irresistible sitting there." She murmured something under her breath, hoping I wouldn't catch it, but I caught every single word.

"Ah, so it's my fault then? I'll have to remember to be less irresistible in public."

Her cheeks flushed ever darker at my teasing, and she playfully swatted at my arm. "Stop it." She admonished, though there was a hint of laughter in her voice.

Unable to resist, I continued to tease her, reveling in her embarrassment. "But really, darling, we must maintain some decorum in public. Can't have you kissing me whenever the mood strikes you."

Her embarrassment seemed to reach its peak, and she cast me a mock glare. "As if you don't enjoy it."

We spent the next few minutes laughing, drawing curious glances from the others around us. Elle's laughter had a musical quality to it, like tiny silver bells ringing in distance. Her laughter was infectious, and being around her always made even the simplest moments feel extraordinary.

With our plates empty and our laughter subsided, we made our way out of the place into the evening. I offered Elle my arm and she looped hers through mine, leaning slightly against me as we walked towards my car.

ELLE

"We should totally comeback here. The ice cream was too good. I mean, seriously, I love ice cream! It's one of my guilty pleasures."

He chuckled and started the engine of his car. "I can tell. I saw you eat the whole tub before I could even take a bite."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Oh please, like you're any better. You practically inhaled the double scoop."

He laughed. "Touché."

I smirked. "That's what I thought."

"Well, I guess we both have a weakness for ice cream." He said, stealing a glance at me.

"Yeah, well, who doesn't love ice cream?"

His gaze lingered on me for a moment longer before returning his attention to the road ahead. "I think it's kind of cute how much you love ice cream." He said casually

I quickly glanced at him, hoping to catch a glimpse of his expression and decipher the meaning behind his words. But to my dismay, his attention remained fixed on the road ahead, his eyes focused and determined. It was as if he hadn't even noticed the effect his comment had on me. I tried to act casual and laugh it off, but deep down, he had left me feeling flustered.

We stopped at the red light, he swiftly looked at me and softly moved a loose strand of hair behind my ear, making me feel a tingling sensation. "You know," He began, his voice low and husky. "I can think of a few things that might be even sweeter than ice cream."

I could feel my heart flutter in my chest, heat flooding my cheeks once again. Before I could gather my thoughts, he leaned in closer, his breath warm against my ear. "But for now," He whispered, his lips grazing my skin. "I'll just take you home."

I nodded dumbly, struggling to come up with a reply as the traffic light changed to green and he started the car.

***

I closed the door behind me, shutting out the noise and chaos of the outside world. The familiar scent of lavender filled the air, soothing my senses. As I made my way towards the bed, my mind couldn't help but wander back to the moment Cam's lips met mine. It was a kiss that held so much tenderness and passion. His lips left a lingering taste on mine, like a sweet tune that kept playing in my thoughts.

After a deep exhale, I shed my layers and changed into more comfortable attire. The loose sweater I slipped into felt like a comforting hug. As I settled down on my bed, the events of the evening replayed in my mind, each detail etched into my mind with perfect clarity.

Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and allowed myself to relive that magical moment. The way his hands gently cradled my face, the way his lips moved against mine with such precision and desire. The kiss revealed my courage to take the initiative, proving that I was bolder than I had ever imagined.

His playful remark, softly spoken into my ear, remained in my mind without pause. "I can think of a few things that might be even sweeter than ice cream." I settled further into the soft cushion, feeling its softness embrace me like a warm embrace. The sheets, cool against my skin, provided a gentle reminder that I was back in my own space. Yet, the sensation of Cam's lips on mine remained etched into my very being.

I imagined Cam standing before me, his eyes dark with longing as he reached out to brush a loose strand of hair from my face, his touch sending shivers down my spine. I pictured him drawing me close, his lips capturing mine in a passionate kiss that left me dizzy and breathless. The world around us faded into obscurity as we lost ourselves in each other, our bodies pressed together.

It felt almost silly, being so caught up in these thoughts. Sure, Cam was charming and funny, and his company was always a breath of fresh air. But here I was, overthinking every interaction we'd had, every word exchanged, and wondering what it meant. It felt like I was standing on the edge of something.

I sighed and pulled my knees to my chest. I couldn't deny that there was something about him that drew me in. His playful teasing, the way he seemed to know just what to say to make me laugh, and that kiss - it all left me wanting more.
