Night fell and Jeonghan finished with all the quick check-ups.
"Good boy, we're all done now." Jeonghan patted the dog's head in his hand. "We'll take care of that rash tomorrow, alright?"
"Mingyu, can you fill his water bowl before we close the cage?" Jeonghan looked up to find no Mingyu. "Mingyu? Jees, I knew he was gonna run off sooner or later."
"That's something we can try to do." Mingyu's voice was faint but audible.
Jeonghan peaked out of the door dropping in on Mingyu and Koko's conversation.
"I bet most of the people don't even know this place exists. Fist step to get them to adopt is to bring attention to them." Mingyu continued explaining his plan. "We can drive in town, they'll find a place to call home in no time"
"You'll do that? Wouldn't that be too much work?" Koko asked with a worried expression not wanting to trouble Mingyu and Jeonghan more then she already had.
"If there is a will, there is a way! I'm sure we can do it!" Mingyu smiled.
Jeonghan smiled at Mingyu's kindness.

Mingyu was outside in the dark playing with the pig.
"Mingyu..." Jeonghan walked outside.
"Oh? We're done?" Mingyu turned around.
"We? You mean I'm done."
"Sorry, I went to talk with Miss Koko."
"Hmmm... I heard it all." Jeonghan looked away. "What you're trying to do isn't easy you know. You can't just give the animals away to anyone who wants them. There's a process you have to follow."
"It's fine, I'll be here for a while. I can work on that with Miss Koko." Mingyu smiled.
"TSK! Here, take this back then!" Jeonghan pulled out the money Mingyu gave him.
"What?" Mingyu raised an eyebrow.
"Take it. Just use it for whatever adoption drive you're planning. Honestly, do I look like someone who'll pocket money for work like this? I wouldn't be a vet if I didn't care for animals in the first place. All the vet services will be covered by me so don't worry about that. Also, the clinic is a decent spot in the center of town, you can do it there if you want."
"Oh wow, that's so nice of you. Thank you." Mingyu took the money.
"You're not so bad yourself." Jeonghan sighed sitting down beside Mingyu. He folded his arms changing the topic. "S-So A-Anyway! The thing you said earlier about feeling unwelcomed... I-I'm S-S-Sor... Sorr..."
Mingyu gulped looking at how tense Jeonghan was.
"L-Look you were freaking annoying the first time, okay! I was from the bottom of my heart really pissed off! But I'll try to be nicer to you from now on! Not because you're Cheol's friend but because you're a kinda okay human." Jeonghan huffed. "Okay? Okay, end of conversation."
"Pfft—Hahaha!" Mingyu laughed his heart out.
"WHAT?! Why are you laughing at me?! I'm serious!"
"I wasn't talking about you when I said that but thanks, I appreciate that." Mingyu threw a stick far wanting to play catch with the pig.
"Seriously?!"
"Actually, it's Cheol..."
"Cheol? Did something happen?"
"No, not really." Mingyu sighed playing with the grass near his feet. "It's the way he acts around me. I just get the feeling that I'm not entirely welcome here. That's not the Cheol I know and grew up with."
"The Cheol you know? How is Cheol supposed to be anyway?"
"Cheol is an open book if there was anything that bothered him, he'd tell me right away. He's changed and I keep wondering if it's something I did." Mingyu lay down in the grass looking up at the stars.
"In short you want it like how it was back then? You moved away and his life went on. Inevitable, there are moments of his life you're simply not a part of." Jeonghan smiled understanding. "Usually, things happen along the way that change us. ...Or perhaps. Someone special came into his life... Either way, his choosing not to tell you every single thing doesn't auto-translate to him hating you. So, um... Cheer up, okay? From what I see, he still cares about you."
"YES! THAT'S IT!" Mingyu sat up. "IT'S YOU!"
"W-What?!"
"It's because he met you! You're that someone special!"
"Wait, what are you talking about?"
"I knew he had a soft spot for you from the beginning but now I'm 100% positive he's into you!"
"Huh?!" Jeonghan backed away flushing red and hiding his face. "A-Are you messing with me again? I swear to god, Mingyu!"
Mingyu went into thoughtful blabber mode... "You guys are totally pining for each other! And it perfectly explains why he's acting that way! Has he been considering my feelings this whole time? We dated briefly back then, maybe he thinks I still have feelings for him? I also joked about hitting on you, what if he took it personally? Of course, anyone would feel awkward with the EWWYBBCAPSYM!"
"WHAT?!"
"Ex-Who-Wants-You-Back-But-Could-Also-Possibly-Steal-Your-Man!"

"You... Two dated... Y-You joked about..." Jeonghan held his head comprehending everything Mingyu spat out. "Wait no, focus Han. You're trying to get a point across!"
"And of course, he wouldn't want to go anywhere when you're here!" Mingyu grabbed Jeonghan's shoulders.
"Huh? Going where?" Jeonghan pushed his hands off. "Wait... No... It's not me! I assure you I don't play that big of a role."
Jeonghan needed to keep his mouth shut about Chan. "Well, you missed that by a long shot. Ugh... I shouldn't have bothered."
"I need to let him know that he doesn't need to worry about me! I know Let's call him over Let's redo that disaster dinner. We have to make it right this time for Cheol!" Mingyu smiled lifting Jeonghan's long hair and swishing his bangs to the side exposing his forehead.
"Why? Don't you want to see him?"
"..." Jeonghan blushed.
"It's settled then!"
"I didn't even agree yet..."
"It's written all over your face, Han."
