WE HAD REACHED the court and there was Geno and the rest of the team here. I immediately move away from Paige trying to avoid the tension hanging between us
I needed to focus on basketball nothing else
I stood next to KK who I only recently had started talking to. She was definitely the funniest one on the team by far there was no denying.
I couldn't help but laugh sometimes when she would whisper something random or stupid in my ear or make sassy comebacks to coach
We got on good.
"I want you guys in pairs. We're doing something a little different today" Geno said clapping is hands for us to move
I looked over at Nika and she just smiled cheekily before partnering up with Aaliyah
I glared at her already knowing exactly what she was trying to do.
I then turned to KK she also had a mischievous glint in her eye
"KK don't even-" I say but I was interrupted when she yelled for Ines to be her partner
Everyone had partnered up purposely avoiding Paige and I so they could get us to partner up
I look again at Nika as she looked like she just won something and everyone was in on it.
I gave her a harsh glare before she just started laughed
I rolled my eyes and sighed walking awkwardly up to Paige. I tried to forget the situation that happened prior but as I stood close to her I couldn't help but look at her lips.
The same lips that almost touched mine not more than 20 minutes ago
"I want you guys to do 2v2 knockouts. The duo that wins gets a prize" Geno explains
"What's the prize?" KK asked intrigued
"No suicides for the rest of the month"
Everyone looked at each other now ready to win
"Alright let's go first up KK and Ines vs Ice and Shade" he said blowing his whistle for them to start

Eventually after and hour or so it was the final game
Paige and Nailea vs Nika and Aaliyah
The duo knew this would be a tough game as it was clear Nika and Aaliyah would dominate in the paint
Causing the two to stick to mid range shots and threes
After watching this 2v2 everyone could see that Paige and Nailea shared some sort of connection on and off the court
Nailea was tactical, creating good shots and smart passes. Paige was the aggressive one, not afraid to risk a lay up or force an and one.
Their chemistry was on point. When Nai had the ball and moved to a certain spot it was like Paige was inside her head. She knew her next move or the shot she would take. It allowed them to knock out the other duos
Though Nai had just came here she had known Paige her whole life. Nobody was beating them
As the game started the rest of the team had picked their sides for who was going to win. However the four on the court paid no mind
All focused on the ball
Nai was defending Nika who had the ball. She saw Nika was unfocused as she tried to look for Aaliyah in an open spot so she swiped the ball and dribbled down the court
She made eye contact with Paige and nodded her head assured the girl knew what their plan was.
This play was nothing new to them. When they were younger it was basically their signature move
Nai passed it off to Paige and Paige drove into the paint
Aaliyah quickly ran to chase Paige
just as she reached the paint Paige pump faked and bounce passed the ball to Nai in the corner
Nika was now here guarding Nailea tightly If the duo got this point they win. Nai dribbled the ball and snatch it backwards doing a sneaky pass to Paige who goes for the lay up winning the game
NAILEAS POV:
All the girls star getting excited as they crowded us
I looked up at Paige and smiled at her as she reciprocated it.
Got damn what was she doing to me...
"Well done guys amazing session today. Just do your cool-down and that will be all for today. We have an upcoming preseason game in two weeks. I'll be announcing the starters in a few days. " with that he left not before the team cheered patting the back of his head
He just laughed
"If y'all are free tonight I was thinking we could all chill out together and play a game maybe truth or dare?" Azzi suggested
Everyone nodded their head waiting for my answer
"I mean I was planning on beating Nika in 2K again but, truth or dare sounds good to me" I say jokingly
"Devora I swear-" Nika threw her towel at me as the team and I just laughed
"Ok everyone come to my dorm in 20 minutes" Azzi continues allowing us to go do our cool-downs

We were now in our dorms getting ready I had gone to have a shower and I came out in shorts and a uconn hoodie
These were comfy as fuck
Nika sat on her chair waiting to go In next. Laying in her bed was KK as I came in they both looked at me then at each other then at me again
"What? What i do?" I asked looking between them
They ignored my question "you gonna tell us what's up with you and Paige?" They both asked at the same time
"Oh this some investigation shit? I plead the fifth" I say grabbing my phone and laying on my bed
"Come onnn. Just tell us, it's clear you guys had history. I remember watching you guys play together on the national team you guys were beast-"
"Look if you guys wanna know ask Paige. I just I don't wanna talk about that" I say trying to stop myself from thinking about the past
They both relaxed on the questions which I am really greatful for.
After a while of talking and normal banter Nika had gone to shower and KK was still there
"Nai" she sang loudly giving me puppy eyes
I took one good look at her and started cackling what the fuck was she doing
"KK what the fuck are you doing?" I ask barely able to get my words out
"Girl boo you just hating cause I got vocals, do a tiktok with me" she more said then asking as she grabbed my arms making me stand up
"Damn. Give a girl a warning miss Arnold." I tell her sarcastically
She set up her camera and did the on with the audio 'dance to make her dance'
In all honesty it took me a while to figure it out but eventually I finally got it
"KK you tryna make me pull something?" I asked sitting down after the amount of times she had made me redo it
Nika was now in the room laughing at us as we did the dance
"You're being dramatic" KK said rolling her eyes and posting the video
"Both of you hush and let's go" Nika say dragging us both out of the dorm room.
