Empty.
Three words I would use to describe,
The way I often feel inside.
Three words which truly resonate,
With my ever-fading mental state.
Three words with which my heart relates,
As it gently tears and breaks.
And as I fall deeper into my sorrow,
Unsure of it I'll see tomorrow.
I tell myself, I beg myself,
Be strong, be strong, be strong.
Don't let those three words defeat me,
Three small concepts cannot beat me.
Embrace them,
Own them,
Make them mine.
The numbness reminds me I've beaten the pain.
The coldness soothes my overworked brain.
And that empty feeling, deep in my heart,
Which once threatened to tear me apart.
Instead helps me strive on to another day,
For if it's empty, what is there that can hurt me anyway?
