(Heather's Pov)
For a change,waking up today wasn't a struggle.
I woke up yes but I feel weird,like something's wrong somewhere.
Or something bad will happen.
I don't know,I can't really put my finger on it.
I just hope and pray Nancy,Luke and Matt are fine wherever they are.
In my bathroom taking a cold shower.
Well whenever I get this strange feeling I sweat a lot.
So a cold shower is an option.
After 15 minutes am of the bathroom drying my hair.
I don't feel like doing my hair today I'll just tie my hair in a bun.
Today I'm not feeling so bright ,so wearing something colourful is not an option for me.
I decide to wear my pimkie wrap front floral dress with a simple neckelace.
Quickly fixing my bed then take my backpack.
Out I go.
Just after I leave my room my brother Jack comes out of his room wearing black jeans,white t-shirt and a black jean jacket.
"Little sis,ready to go?"Pulling me to a side hug.
"Morning to you too Big bro,yes I'm fine thank you."
Holding his ears,"Okay sis."
"It's all good.And yes I'm ready to go."
"Aren't you eating?"Raising an eyebrow.
"Nope,I'm fine. I'll eat during lunchtime at school."
"If you must know,I don't like this knew habit of not eating breakfast.Atleast take some fruit."
"If that will make you happy,"taking it from the fridge.
Grabbing his coffee and his car keys,"Now we can go.I can see you not on your best move.Your outfit speaks for you."
Sometimes I hate the fact that he knows me too well.
Getting inside the car,safety belt on and settled only sit waiting for him to drive off.
Jack drives a black Chevrolet Corvette,it's a sports car that mom bought for him on his graduation.
He loves it especially with the fact that it's a 2-seater so he wont hike anyone.
Instead his friends fetch him most of the times.
"Well yeah,woke up sweating and a bit offish,"sigh.
"And I know that means something is off about this day."
"Enough about me.And you,whats with the dressing up?Going on a date?",playing with my eye brows.
"Well I wouldn't say that but yeah."
"I see.Who is she?"
"Just someone I just met. I'll tell you about her if things get serious or go according to the plan. My plan ofcourse."
"Can see you over heals already,"laughing.
Laughing,"Okay that's it.When was the last time you spoke to your boy Lucas?"Rolling his eyes.
Sigh,"Will you ever give him a chance?"
"Never!I don't like him but I won't sabotage your little fling. You'll see for yourself."
"It's a relationship not a fling Jack."
"Whatever.If it's a relationship when was the last time you spoke?He never bothers to call you.If you don't call him,then he'd rather not talk to you.You in this 'relationship'alone Heather."
"He's just busy and I've also been busy Jack."
"Too busy to check up on his 'girlfriend',yeah right."
Defeated,"That's it,let's stop talking about this. You'll never understand Jack"
Looking out the window
"Ohh I understand too well baby sis,you just naive but ey you'll see the truth one day.Dont reply,you said Topic closed."
After parking his car,I take my staff and wave him goodbye.
"Hey Heather,if you need me just call me,okay?"
"What about your date?"
"It's a lunch date."
"Okay then thanks."I know what he means so yeah.
Going to my locker I can't trace Nancy and she's awkwardly quiet.
Then I see Matt approaching,he definitely looks worried.
"Hey Heather,where's Nancy? Her phone is off."
"Haven't heard from her either. But-
My cellphone rings and it's Nancy.
I put it on loud speaker and signal Matt not to talk.
"Why aren't you at school?You know-
"Hello to you too Heather. I'm fine as well thank you."
"I'm sorry sis."
"I'm not coming to school today,please tell Matt as well."
Immediately Matt and I look at each other frowning.
"What's wrong?"
"I-I then we hear the sound of something falling.
Hearing her mother screaming on the background.
Telling her to wake up and her odering Mr Roberts to call an ambulance.
I knew something had happened to her.
Looking at the time,10 minutes left before the bell rings.
And I won't be able to concentrate.
I call Jack immediately
"Jack please I need your help."
"Okay Heather breath and tell me what happened."
"I'll tell you but please come back.Its Nancy-
"Holy shit,okay I'll make a u-turn .In the meantime,you wait for me by my parking space."
"Okay thank you."
After dropping the call,"Okay Matt I'm going.I don't know if you'll be able to concentrate but I sure won't so I'm going to see Nancy."
"Yeah I'm also leaving. Luckily I
drove myself to school today,I'll meet you there."
The bell rings and we running out of school.
I can hear the principal,Miss Manson calling us but we ain't stopping.
By the time I exit I can see my brother's car.
Matt running to his car,"I'll see you there."
I get in to my brother's car,saftey belt and ready to go.
"Drive like a mad man Jack. It's a matter of life and death."
"Okay will you just calm down and tell me what the fuck is going on."
"Well my worst fear just came to life.I think Nancy collapsed."
"You think?"confused look.
"She called me saying she's not coming to school.I asked her what's wrong then she just sounded like she was loosing her breath. The next thing I hear this sound like something is falling then her mom starts screaming. Telling her to wake up."
"Okay firstly Heather,take a deep breath.We don't want you getting one of your Anxiety attacks now,do we?"
Taking a deep breath with my brother,I feel better.
Then he takes out my Anxiety Meds.
Wait ,what how did he know I'll need these today?
"I didn't know.I have always kept them in my car in case of emergency.Even when I used to drive you to school with dad's car. I kept them with me in my backpack."
Okay I just voiced out my thoughts.
So he's always kept my meds with him everytime.
Wow!
I have always known that Jack would do anything for me.
He spoils me a lot and takes care of me.
Since I was a kid he's been doing that.
I remember this other day he threw a small party at home.
I don't remember where mom had gone to.
I had my anxiety attack but I didn't have meds then.
I hadn't been taken to the doctor because mom thought it's nothing serious.
That day Jack kicked his friends out and took me to the hospital.
On our way to the hospital,he kept telling me to take deep breaths.
From that day,he never invited his friends in our house again.
They meet everywhere except our house.
I grew up in this small cage that I kept myself in,I didn't want people around me .
So I became allergic to social places.
I'd get anxiety attack everytime there would be people at my house.
With Jack by my side,I got better eventually.
Well I'd say it all started with bullying, the time I used to play at the park.
That's where Nancy and I first met.
She was defending me.
"Heather we've reached Nancy's house.There's her boyfriend."
We quickly got out of the car.
Ran to the front door,I rang the bell.
The helper Doris opened the door.
First thing she said,"Presbyterian hospital."
"Okay thank you Doris."
Running back to our cars and off to the hospital.
We used St Nicholas Ave and it's a 14 minutes drive.
For me that 14 minutes feels like years.
