: I OPENED A CLINIC IN THE APOCALYPSE

• • •
Wen Qingling stepped forward. Looking at the large pool of blood on the ground, he placed the remaining two blood anemones in his bag into the water, before using his wood ability on them to aid them in absorbing the blood. Growing rapidly, the blood anemones soon reached knee height.

Besides these two, no new blood anemones grew.

Grabbing a dagger, Wen Qingling slashed his wrist and blood seeped out, dripping into the pool of mutant pig blood. His blood was like a seed. One after another, new blood anemones grew rapidly while absorbing blood.

As expected. The blood anemone’s growth was really related to his own blood.

Wen Qingling did not know the full implications of this, but he knew that he would no longer have to go hungry in the future.

The large mutant pig really had a lot of blood. Wen Qingling had no idea what the limit of the blood anemone’s growth was, and decided to continuously use his wood ability on them to speed up their maturation. The blood anemones grew and grew, and did not stop even after reaching the height of a human.

Wen Qingling was alarmed. He did not dare speed up the anemones’ growth any more. Such a large stalk of blood anemone was a little scary to look at. The tentacles on it danced in the air, as if they would attack at any time.

“What’s that at the tip of the tentacle?” Jiang Lan pointed out the abnormality.

At the tip of each thick tentacle was a small, black, ping-pong sized sphere.

Wen Qingling tried to use his powers once more. The small black spheres slowly grew larger. When they reached the size of a man’s fist, they automatically fell to the ground.

Jiang Lan picked one up. Splitting it open, she found black granules that looked like seeds.

When the black sphere was split open, a lot of these black seeds fell into the pool of blood, and quickly sprouted new blood anemones.

The three zombies: “….”

So they’ve found the blood anemone’s seeds?!

Looking at the countless black seeds, they were elated inside, yet their faces remained stiff.

The three gathered all the black spheres and kept them, planning to grow them in the future.

The mutant pig’s blood had already been sucked dry, not a single drop wasted.

Wen Qingling realized that after using the same wood ability on the blood anemones, only the two he brought over grew to the height of a human and bore fruit. The other blood anemones only grew to one metre or so before stopping, and did not bear fruit either.

Looking at the two special blood anemones, Jiang Lan named them “Blood Anemone Queens”. In the future, they would be relying on them for blood anemone seeds.

Speaking of which, these blood anemones were rather magical. When provided with fresh blood, they would grow, but even when not given blood and soil, they would not perish.

With so much food, the three zombies had to grab a truck. After loading it up with the mutant pig and all the blood anemones, they contentedly returned home.

The two blood anemone queens received Jiang Lan’s enthusiastic reward. She tied a green silk ribbon around the thick body of each of the blood anemone queens. As for the other blood anemones… they were resigned to their fate as food.

The blood anemones were alive and would not spoil. They had to eat the mutant pig’s flesh first.

The mutant pig was simply too big. The family of three had to stay up late to process the mutant pig. They had to first separate the flesh and the bones, then chop the flesh into smaller chunks to freeze. One refrigerator was not enough, they had to find two more freezers to store all the meat and bones.

Luckily, they had managed to find a villa with electricity.

Their dinner was pork rib soup. Though its taste fell short of the blood anemone’s, it was still very delicious.

As expected, they could only eat meat.

Now that the food was settled, they could start working. It was truly a shame that the clinic had no business. After all, the living would not visit, and the zombies did not know to visit.

Business was bleak.

Wen Qingling absorbed all the zombie crystal nuclei in his hand, and felt that there were improvements in his strength.

This was his habit as an ability user. Ability users were able to directly absorb the energy found within crystal nuclei to improve their own strength.

Ling City was very dangerous. It was not called the “City of Zombies” for nothing; they had met a zombie “Butcher” so easily.

The most important point was, this Butcher even dared to challenge him. It was merely a level one mutated lifeform, yet it had the guts to do so. Wen Qingling was afraid that, if in the future, they met a mutated lifeform of a higher grade, their whole family would simply be a walking meal. He had to improve his strength.

Obtaining crystal nuclei was a big problem.

The three zombies had a heated discussion regarding this issue. Finally, the head of the family decided that, once the clinic opened, crystal nuclei would be charged for consultation.

What if there were no patients?

They would take the initiative to find some, they could not always wait for business to come to them.

The family of three stood at the door of the clinic, all ready to find some customers. This resulted in all nearby zombies taking a detour to avoid them.

Jiang Lan looked at her son. “You shouldn’t be here.”

Wen Qingling had no choice but to return to the office.

Once he left, the zombies finally started passing by the clinic again.

Jiang Lan grabbed one, “Hey beautiful, do you want a facelift? The rotting on your face looks really serious. All it takes is 100 crystal nuclei, and you can restore your youth and beauty, wanna try?”

The “beautiful” zombie had a sluggish look on her face. With empty eyes, she struggled away from Jiang Lan’s grip and slowly shambled away.

Jiang Lan hollered from behind, “10 crystal nuclei is fine too!”

Wen Zheng blocked the path of another zombie. “Handsome brother, can you understand me? Don’t you want to become a good-looking zombie like me? Our clinic can help you achieve your dreams.”

The “handsome” zombie bad temperedly roared at Wen Zheng.

Wen Zheng: “You’re already a zombie, no need to be so grumpy.”

The next few days also saw no customers.

Jiang Lan vented, “The zombies need to drink some brain-replenishing liquids. How are we supposed to communicate when they don’t even have a brain?”

Wen Zheng: “Even brain-replenishing fluids won’t be of help. What they need are brain transplants.”

Jiang Lan suddenly remembered something. “Son, don’t you have the ability to control zombies? Can they understand your words?”

Wen Qingling suddenly stood up and walked out the office.

Jiang Lan and Wen Zheng followed him out, and then were stunned.

At the clinic’s entrance stood one big and one small zombie. The big zombie was wearing a white coat and limping on one leg. It was clutching a five or six year old little girl with empty eyes in its hands.

Wen Qingling remembered this zombie. It was exactly the one he had controlled previously to send Luo Fengjue medicine.
