I'm woken up by someone knocking on my door.
"Lora," it's Obi-wan, "Lora, we have a mission, wake up"
I shoot out of bed and open the door. Obi-wan stands there looking as fresh as day as if it isn't in the middle of the night.
"We leave in a few, hurry up"
I speed into my refresher to get ready. I have a fight with my hair that leave me incredibly frustrated, and it doesn't help that I'm tired since it was still night. My body is sore after the last weeks of training with Obi-wan. Yawning, I walk out in the livingroom to find Obi-wan already ready to go.
"You ready?" he asks me.
"Yes master," I reply. And then we went. The jedi temple is mostly quiet at this time of day. There is always some Jedis coming home and leaving, but mostly you can feel a comfortable silence in the temple. While we walk to the hanger it hits me that this is my first mission. Ahsoka have told me about her and Anakin's missions, and they all sounds exciting.
"If I may ask master, what are we up to?"
"We are going to meet up with Anakin and Ahsoka, they or should I say Anakin, made a stupid move and risked everything to get R2-D2 back. Anyways they needed a ride, and as always contacted me. I feel like a taxi driver sometimes," my master says while he shakes his head.
On the way he keeps telling many funny stories of back when Anakin was his padawan. By the time we reach our cruiser, our stomachs are hurting by laughing. We walk on and we are met by a clone with yellow markings. He salute us as we walk in.
"Commander Cody, I don't believe you've met my new padawan. Commander Cody meet Lora Caran, Lora meet Cody" My master introduce us.
"A pleasure to meet you, Commander Caran," Cody says while shaking my hand.
"You too Cody"
We walk to the bridge and Obi-wan give the command to jump to hyperspace. I don't think I ever will get tired of seeing hyperspace. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
"Lora, why don't I show you around. You are going to spend a lot of time here while being my padawan, and if you are as needy as Anakin, also after," he says while smiling.
He showes me my room here. The size is a little smaller than back home, but I have to say I like this one way more. There is no boring beige walls, and when you look outside there is space. Not just the temple roof. He shows me to the eating hall, some other rooms that I don't remember the names of and finally he shows me the clone barracks on board. They all greet us when walking in.
He introduce me to all the clones. Waxer, Boil, Gearshift, Longshot, Peel, Woley, Trapper and way more. I'm not exactly great at names.
When we return back to the bridge a clone informs us that we are about to leave hyperspace. As we do, we can see Anakin's ship waiting for us. My master and I walk down in the hangar and watches as Anakin pilots the ship down. As they come walking out, we stand there waiting for them. Obi-wan have his arms crossed and gives Anakin a disappointed face.
"Really, again. I need to pick you up again," my master exclaim. The two of them starts bickering. Ahsoka grabs my arm and pulls me in a hug.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in forever," she exclaim while she puts her hand over her heart, as if faking a heart attack. She never fails to make me laugh.
"I know right. It's almost like it's been more than 2 days," I reply, we just laugh harder and walk away from our masters that is still bickering. It's not exactly a mission we are on, but it gives me a chance to be with Ahsoka, and that is good enough. When we return back to Coruscant, we have a few bruises after we had a laughing fit and fell into a wall, it was just the fact that it wasn't a real wall, it was a door, so when that door opened we fell again.
The four of us decide to get dinner together. We sit down at the same table as last time with our food. We have done that a lot since I became Obi-wan's padawan. They of course also did it before, but Ahsoka said herself that now that I was here. Dinners were way more fun, and she looked forward to every one. She even told me that Anakin had told her that he felt the same way. Since the first dinner I have gotten more confident with speaking. I still don't talk as much as Anakin or Ahsoka, but I do talk more than Obi-wan did now.
"Wait, are you telling me that you jumped from a speeder in the middle of the air, not knowing if you were actually going to land on the enemy?" I ask Anakin, almost speechless.
"No no, I knew that I was certainly going to land on her," he tries to defend himself. I just shoot him look.
"Yeah sure, you certainly knew that," Ahsoka join me in mocking him.
"No, don't do that. Don't gang up on me like that," Anakin whine "Obi-wan help me here"
"Oh no, I'm enjoying this way too much," Obi-wan just sits back and enjoy our conversation.
We continue this way for a long time. Ahsoka and I continue to gang up on him and Anakin getting more and more frustrated. It ends badly as Anakin is currently daring us to a duel. Then Obi-wan steps in and calms him down. Explains that it probably isn't a good idea since both me and Ahsoka are still padawans.
"Why don't we go and take and walk and get some dessert, let's say Dex?" Obi-wan propose while still having his hand on Anakin's shoulder.
"Sure, why not?" Ahsoka agrees. She is always up for walks and dessert, it have become our little tradition.
Walking down the streets of Coruscant is always a pain. The streets is always seriously crowded. Ahsoka and I walk behind our masters, that way we can gossip without them noticing. A lot of the times we walk the four of us, people get confused about why we are four. Jedis have a reputation of being alone, so it always comes as a shock when we came in a flock.
We reach Dex's Diner and order our usuals. Me and Anakin get Bantha Milkshakes while Obi-wan and Ahsoka get ice cream. The first time I came here, I wasn't sure what I was getting. Anakin of courser wanted me to get his idea and Ahsoka the same. They both held a short speech about why I should choose theirs. Anakin did it the best, and I've stuck with that ever since.
As we walk back, still with our dessert, some douchebag decide he is mad at the Jedis and suddenly attack us. Now he isn't particularly good at it. Obi-wan, Ahsoka and I just stand and look at Anakin who find it funny to wrestle with the guy.
"Anakin, why don't you just arrest him, get this over with," Obi-wan tell him while stroking his beard.
Suddenly the guy get a little burst of energy and pushes Anakin into me, which made me to drop my Bantha Milkshake.
"NO, not my milkshake!" I cry out when I'm not able to save it. Anakin gets a little annoyed by the push and decide just to arrest him. Then when I try to take his milkshake, after he clearly ruined mine, he runs off. Like literally. Which left the three of us confused while waiting for the police to arrive to take our attacker away.
Then miraculously three minutes later Anakin arrives again, this time without the milkshake. And when asked about it, he just says it disappeared while he rubs his stomach.
"You are so childish, you know that right?" I tell him.
"And that is coming from a 13 year old?" He shoot back.
"It's you that are arguing with a 13 year old, I think that says more about you than me"
"Remember that I am a Jedi while you are just a padawan" He reminds me.
"And I am a padawan of a jedi master, who do you think he will support?" I shoot back.
The entire way back to the temple is pretty much like that.
As we said goodnight I make sure to use his formal title instead of his name just to spite him.
"Goodnight Ahsoka," I tell her while I give her a hug, "Goodnight Master Skywalker"
"Goodnight Padawan Caran" He tells me back.
Obi-wan just shakes his head and says his own goodnights before he pulls me inside to stop our bickering. I'm pretty he is tired of listening to it at that point.
"How am I going to survive the two of you?" Obi-wan asks me, but I can't help but laugh while I walk in my room.
"Come on master, you love us"
I close my door before I can hear his reply, but I swear that I hear a "Yeah I do". Then it hits me how close I had come to the three of them over the last couple of weeks.
I go to bed, and before long I fell asleep peacefully.
