Chapter 7 :
| The first punch |

Bianca didn't see her friend all morning until she arrived at school. Worried and curious, she wondered where her friend could be. As she walked through the school gates, she spotted Ariel standing by the lockers, talking to Scott and Stiles. Relief washed over her, but she couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance. "Where have you been all morning ?" she asked, unable to hide her frustration.

Her friend turned towards her, letting out a sigh. "I'm sorry," she replied.

"Where have you been ?" Bianca asked again, hoping to get an answer this time. Her voice filled with anticipation as she looked at the her friend.

Scott and Stiles exchanged glances, silently acknowledging the unspoken agreement that they should leave and give the girls some privacy.

With a nod from Scott, they both turned and headed towards the door. As they left, Bianca and Ariel found themselves alone beside the lockers. The air felt heavy with the weight of the unanswered question, and Bianca's heart raced with anticipation.

Her friend, sensing Bianca's eagerness, took a deep breath and finally mustered the courage to respond. "I went to hunt in the forest." She finally said, responding to her best friend's question.

Bianca's brows furrowed in confusion as she tried to make sense of her friend's statement. "They're blood bags in the fridge," she says, trying to figure out why Ariel went to hunt for blood if they'd bags at home. Confusion furrowed her brows as she pondered over Ariel's mysterious behavior. She couldn't understand why her vampire friend would venture out in the morning to find sustenance when they had a readily available supply in their very own refrigerator.

Every time she left the house, she worried about her safety and whether she would be able to control her thirst around innocent humans.

"Ariel, it's dangerous !" The redhead yelled in the hallway. Students turned their heads, their curiosity piqued by the urgent tone in her voice.

Ariel growled, her frustration evident on her face as she tightly gripped her best friend's hand. With determination in her eyes, she pulled her friend into an empty classroom, seeking solace in the privacy it provides. The room is dimly lit, with the soft glow of sunlight seeping through the partially closed blinds, casting long shadows across the desks and chairs.

She let go of her hand and closed the door before turning herself to face her. The room is filled with an awkward silence as their eyes lock, both unsure of what to say next. The tension in the air is palpable, almost suffocating.

"I know it's dangerous, Bianca," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the pounding of their hearts.

"No you don't know !" Shouted Bianca, her voice echoed through the empty room, filled with a mixture of fear and frustration. She paced back and forth, trying to make sense of the situation. "We don't know the hunters around here. What would happen if they got you ?" Bianca questioned, her voice tinged with concern.

"They won't get me," Ariel replied firmly, trying to reassure her best friend.

"But, what if," she said, tears streaming down her face. Bianca didn't want to lose her best friend. The thought of life without Ariel seemed unbearable, like a gaping hole in her heart that could never be filled. They had been through so much together, shared countless memories, and supported each other through thick and thin. Losing Ariel would mean losing a piece of herself. The thought of not having her best friend by her side was unbearable. They had promised to always be there for each other, no matter what life threw their way. Ariel had been the one constant in her life, the one person she could always count on. The thought of facing the world without her was terrifying.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, Ariel took a deep breath and reached out to hold Bianca's trembling hand. The touch provided a sense of comfort and reassurance, a reminder of the deep bond they shared. She spoke softly, her voice filled with genuine concern, "Bianca, you won't loose me."

Bianca looked up at her best friend, tears welling up in her eyes.
The weight of the world seemed to lift off her shoulders as she heard those comforting words.

Ariel gently placed a hand on Bianca's trembling shoulder while holding her hand with her other hand. The warmth of her touch instantly provided a sense of security. "I mean it, Bianca," Ariel continued, her voice unwavering. "We've been through so much together, and I won't let anything come between us. You're my best friend, my sister. I'll always be here for you, no matter what." Bianca looked up at Ariel, her eyes filled with gratitude and love. She knew that no matter what challenges they faced. "You're stuck with me, no matter what." Ariel said with a smile, wrapping her arms around Bianca. And in that moment, Bianca knew that together they could conquer anything that came their way. Their love was strong, unbreakable, and she was grateful every day for having her in her life.

As Bianca wiped away her tears, a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "I love you, Ariel."

Ariel held her tight, "I love you, Bianca. And I will always be here for you, no matter what." The two friends stood in a comforting embrace, knowing that their bond was unbreakable.

"A small exposure to an otherwise deadly virus can actually prevent the effects of the infection from spreading. This is called vaccination." said the women on the tv. Her words echoed through the classroom.

As the women on tv continued, Ariel couldn't help but glance over at Bianca, wondering if she was feeling the same way.

Bianca seemed lost in her own thoughts, her eyes fixed on the tv as if she were hanging on to every word. Ariel knew she should be paying attention too, but her mind kept drifting away. She tried to focus on the women's voice on the tv, but thoughts of how to killed Derek kept creeping in.

The anger and betrayal she felt towards him consumed her every waking moment. She had never been so filled with rage before, and it scared her.

As she 'listened' to the virus report, she tried to push the thoughts of revenge out of her mind. But the image of Derek's smug face kept popping up, taunting her. She needed to find a way to make him pay for what he had done to her.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself down. She knew that acting out of anger would only make things worse. She needed to be patient and wait for the right moment to strike.

And strike she would. She was determined to make Derek regret ever crossing her. She would show him that she was not someone to be trifled with. She would make him pay for his betrayal.

But for now, she would bide her time and wait for the perfect opportunity to exact her revenge. Derek had no idea what was coming for him. And she would make sure he never saw it coming.

"What the hell did you do to my camera ?" A boy in her class whispered, his voice filled with a mix of anger and confusion.

"Huh ?" she could hear Jackson asking the boy, his tone laced with curiosity. As the whispers reached her ears, she pushed thoughts of revenge so she could listen to the conversation, intrigued by the sudden tension in the classroom.

"The lens is cracked," said the guy angry, showing Jackson his camera.

Ariel turned her attention to them and look at the broken lens on his camera. Her face scrunched up with concern as she examined the shattered glass.

"Do you know how expensive this thing is ?" He exclaimed. His eyes widened in disbelief as he held his broken camera in his hands, marveling at its intricacy.

"Just send me a bill," Jackson muttered under his breath.

The bell rang, Ariel decided to follow Jackson who's following Lydia.

Intrigued by their mysterious behavior, Ariel discreetly trails behind, careful not to draw any attention to herself. She wondered what could be going on between them that would warrant such covert actions. As she tiptoes through the corridors, Ariel noticed how Jackson and Lydia exchange furtive glances and quick whispers, fueling her curiosity even more.

"Whatever it is, blood, saliva... Whatever soul-killing substance is running through your veins," Ariel could hear Jackson yelling at Lydia. "You did this to me," he added furiously. The words hung heavily in the air, causing a tense silence to descend upon the hallway. Ariel's heart raced as she watched the confrontation unfold, unsure of what had transpired between Jackson and Lydia.

Lydia, normally composed and gentle, stood frozen in shock, her eyes welling up with tears. She struggled to find her voice, her trembling lips betraying her inner turmoil.

Jackson's anger seemed to intensify, his face contorted with a mix of pain and rage. He took a step closer to Lydia, his voice now a venomous hiss. "You ruined it for me. You ruined everything !" His words dripped with bitterness, each syllable laced with resentment.

"Hey ! You piece of shit !" Ariel yelled in the hallway, her voice echoing through the corridor. Her frustration boiled over as she walked to Lydia, her new friend and Jackson, the jackass.

"What do you want Grimes ?" Jackson spat, his voice dripping with contempt. His eyes narrowed as he stared her down, clearly ready for a confrontation.

"Leave her alone," she replied, her voice steady despite the anger simmering within her.

Jackson scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "Or what ?" he challenged, his voice laced with defiance. His eyes narrowed, daring whoever was in front of him to come up with a worthy response. The atmosphere grew tense as silence lingered in the air, awaiting an answer that could match Jackson's audacity.

Ariel let out a cold laugh before her fists met Jackson's cheek. The impact of her punch sent a sharp jolt through the air, causing a momentary silence to fall over the hallway. Jackson staggered backward, his hand instinctively rising to touch his reddening cheek, disbelief etched across his face. The sting of the slap still lingered, the shock of the unexpected blow reverberating through his body. He couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

As he looked up, he saw her standing there, her eyes burning with a fierce determination he had never witnessed before. It was as if a dormant fire within her had been ignited, and he realized he had severely underestimated her strength.

"Don't mess with her anymore," she repeated, her voice firm and unwavering. There was a resoluteness in her tone that sent a chill down Jackson's spine. He had always been the one to assert dominance, to assert control over others. But now, the tables had turned, and he found himself facing a force he had never anticipated.
