Caden's POV:
I can't believe that Vincenzo's own beta would do something like this.
I had to tell Mae what I overheard.
I couldn't just keep this to myself. I quietly and quickly moved to another part of the first away from the men.
I stayed there, waiting for Mae to come home so I could tell her what I just heard. I hope she's not with Vincenzo. He wouldn't take me being on his land very well.
Mae's POV:
I was in the kitchen preparing dinner for everyone. I was currently making seafood and pasta when a strong pair of arms wrapped around my waste.
I know those strong arms.
I felt Vincenzo's nuzzle his head in the crook of my neck and take a deep breath of my scent growling lowly.
"Mae I'm going out watch the boarders. I'll be home in an hour ok?" He told me.
"Okay! Stay safe Vince. I don't want you getting hurt." I said with a smile.
"Oh my my Maelyn what faith you have in me. No one, and I mean no one can ever hurt me. Except you of course." He said dramatically holding his hand over his heat and outstretching it to me.
"Ok Romeo, you better get going or the others will think something bad."
"What do you mean 'bad'" he said with a suggestive smirk and raised eyebrow.
"Like you're being killed now go!" And exclaimed and tried pushing him towards the door.
He chuckled and pecked my lips turning for the door and heading outside.
I went back to my cooking stirring the pasta sauce until someone came walking into the room.
"I smell something amazing" A voice rang out behind me.
I turned to see Diego and smiled.
"Yeah I'm making dinner, for a change" I joked.
"Listen I have a friend coming over and I need to help the Alpha with securing the boarder. Could you let him in for me?" He asked me.
"Yeah sure" I responded. Diego was such a nice guy I couldn't help but do what I could to help him out. He's never once been rude or mean to me.
Diego smiled showing appreciation and left the house going the same way Vincenzo headed.
I walked over to the fridge and cut up some lettuce for the salad.
I put the chopped lettuce in the bowl along with some tomatoes and cucumbers.
Right before I was about to take out the dressing someone knocked on the door.
'Must be the friend' I thought as I walked to the front of the house.
I opened the door to reveal a man about my age with brown hair and dark brown eyes.
"Mae?" He asked me. I stared at him dumbfounded. How did he know my name?
"Yeah, do I know you?" I asked him.
"I'm Zachary, remember me?" He asked me hopeful.
Who does this guy think he is.
"No why?" I replied.
"We were best friends. You were in the same class as me when we were in 7th grade. Remember our horrible Maths teacher. We used to make jokes about her all the time." he told me.
I do remember being close to someone when I was small. And I do remember my horrible Maths teacher in 7th grade. Mrs. Belle. Gosh how much I didn't like her. But anyways the boy moved to Wisconsin when I was 12.
"I moved when I was 13 though, I doubt you remember me" he smiled. Why is he still smiling?
"Actually come to think of it, I do remember someone I was close with when I was younger." I replied. How wonderful! Another person to be friends with and keep me company.
After our conversation I realised he was still standing outside.
"Oh my goodness you're still standing outside! Come in, come in, I'm just cooking dinner" I told him.
For an hour we both chatted about our past and what we both ended up doing after he moved to Wisconsin.
Turns out Zach went to collage in Minnesota to get a business degree.
The door swung open to reveal Vincenzo and Diego.
"Oh good we were just about to eat dinner! Why don't you boys go take a shower and then we will get started." I said as they were taking off their shoes.
But Vincenzo paid no mind to my words as his attention was focused on Zach standing next to me.
"Who is he?" Vincenzo growled ignoring me and looking at Zach.
"It's m-" Diego started but I cut him off.
"He's my best friend from when I was in grade school. Just so happens he's also Diego's friend. Small world huh!" I told him, with my eyes lighting up.
Vincenzo just looked at him with a glare and nodded to me.
"I'm going to take a shower" he told me before walking upstairs not bothering to cover up his anger.
Typical.
"So you guys know each other?" Diego asked in disbelief.
We both nodded and laughed. After a good 15 minutes of joking and messing around, someone knocked on the door.
I opened the door and saw Caden. I immediately jumped into his arms happy to see him after some time.
"Mae I need to tell you something" Caden told me. His voice sounded urgent but I thought it could wait. I just had to tell him the good news.
"Wait, guess what? My best friend from my childhood's here. Remember Zachary?" I told Caden excitedly.
"I have been your best friend since you were a child." Caden said growling.
"Don't get jealous" I told him pouting. E
Caden sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Listen Mae, Zachary isn't your friend, he's pretending to be your friend" Caden told me. His voice was laced with so much seriousness.
I was in shock. Why would he say this? How could he lie to me?
"Caden, I understand you're upset, but don't ever accuse Zachary of lying. I'm hurt right now, how could you think he's lying. I remember a Zachary" I told him scowling.
"Mael-" he started but was cut off by me.
"No Caden! Now come inside and eat dinner with us, please?" I asked him with puppy eyes.
He sighed again and walked into the house after me.
I led him into the kitchen where everyone was already eating.
From the corner of my eye I could see Vincenzo eyeing Zachary.
Zachary was extremely fit and handsome, I'm sure Vincenzo isn't the only male to be possessive with him around.
I sat down beside Zachary ignoring the empty seat beside Vincenzo.
His mood has too much attitude for me right now.
Caden awkwardly looked at the empty seat beside Vincenzo and sat down.
Vincenzo growled making Caden jump a little.
"Why are you sitting beside me? Better yet, why are you on my land? I surely didn't give you permission to be here." Vincenzo asked in annoyance.
Caden quickly got up and sat next to Diego, who was trying to suppress his laughter.
"Diego I sure wouldn't be laughing it was your job to make sure no one crosses the border." Vincenzo's hard angry face turned to now stare at his second in command.
Diego's smile quickly faded and a glimmer of a scowl crossed his features.

After the meal was finished I began washing the dishes. To my surprise Vincenzo started to dry the dishes beside me.
"Listen Mae, don't you think Zachary is a little...sketchy?" He asked me.
I looked at him, baffled by his question.
"Listen, don't get jealous. He's only a friend" I told him smiling.
"Im not jealous Maelyn. There is not reason for me to be jealous of him about anything. The pup just seems a little sketchy." he said.
I sighed.
"He's my best friend, Vincenzo. You need to get over the fact that you won't be the only male in my life. Now go and make yourself useful and sweep the kitchen floors." I told him.
He just huffed and walked out of the room.
I stopped washing the dishes and went up to his office. Knowing he would be there. Vincenzo, as he says. Is too manly to clean.
Whatever.
"Why are you acting like this?" I asked him.
"Acting like what? I want to keep you safe. This man is weird. He's sketchy. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a white van with free candy written on it" he yelled back.
"I can't believe you. You're so rude and I can't stand you" I yelled back.
"Mae stop, I don't want to fight with you" he sighed.
"Well then just accept Zachary for who he is" I told him.
Vincenzo walked up towards me and planted a kiss on my lips.
"Okay, but if he doesn't follow my rules. He's gone." he said wrapping is arms around me. I couldn't help but to smile.
"Mae" Zachary called from downstairs.
"I have to go" I told Vincenzo and walked downstairs to find Zachary.
"Oh hey, do you want to go out for a walk?" He asked.
"Yeah sure let me just get my boots" I told him, running to get my boots.
After I slipped them on I walked to the front door and started walking outside with Zachary.
Zachary's POV.
"So how are things with Vince?" I asked Mae.
Mae then proceeded to tell me how much she had changed him and how much he has gone soft for her because he loves her. Such an easy way to destroy him.
Mae was his weakness.
After my walk with Mae I met up with Diego in the woods.
"Charles did everything go fine? Or should I say Zachary" he laughed.
"I know his weak spot, it's Mae"
