To feel pain to feel the hurt and suffering
To be consumed by the guilt and shame
To be crushed by the grief and the sorrow
To be overcome by a feeling of emptiness and despair
But to be alive, and to feel, and to be human
To be strong and to be brave
And to know that hope and healing exist.
To Scar,
To be marked by life, to bear the scars
To be a reminder, a memory, a lesson
To be a sign of our pain and our fear
But to be a symbol, a source of pride
Of healing and of becoming whole again
A reminder to keep going and to never give up.
The scar may never fade,
The wound may never heal
We may carry them with us for life
But as long as we remember,
We carry the strength, we remember the courage,
