Chapter 4|Unforeseen Encounters|

Amidst the collision of our paths, I discovered that resilience isn't just about standing firm; it's about refusing to be defined by the obstacles in our way.

Y/N Pov

As I packed my belongings, the weight of the upcoming days at Mystic Arts Academy felt heavier than ever.

The uniform and magic book lay neatly folded in my bag, symbols of the new life I was about to embark upon.

The thought of leaving behind the familiar comforts of home and venturing into the unknown filled me with a sense of unease.

But amidst the uncertainty, one thing remained clear: I was determined to seek justice for my parents' untimely demise.

Their memory fuelled my resolve, driving me to pursue the truth behind their tragic fate.

With a heavy heart, I descended downstairs and met my grandma who was patiently waiting for me.

I sighed deeply, feeling the weight of the moment.

Y/N: The day has finally come.

She touched my shoulder with a reassuring smile.

Grandma: You'll do great, dear. Just remember, you always have a home here.

I nodded, my voice trembling slightly.

Y/N: Thank you, Grandma. I'll miss you.

Irene bounced with excitement, oblivious to my mood.

Irene: Come on, Y/N! We're going to have so much fun at the academy!

With a forced smile, I replied.

Y/N: Yeah, fun.

Noticing my downcast expression, Irene grew concerned.

Irene: Hey, what's wrong?

Struggling to articulate my feelings, I took a deep breath.

Y/N: It's just... I don't know if I'm ready for this.

Irene linked arms with me, offering support.

Irene: You'll be fine! We'll stick together, okay?

I managed a weak smile.

Y/N: Thanks Irene.

As we walked towards the academy, Irene's enthusiasm remained infectious.

Irene: Can you believe we're actually going to learn magic? It's like a dream come true!

I nodded, but my eyes betrayed my inner turmoil.

Y/N: Yeah, it's... exciting.

Noticing my subdued demeanour, Irene's concern deepened.

Irene: Hey, cheer up! We're going to have the best time ever!

Y/N: Yeah, I know. Thanks for being with me, Irene.

As we approached the towering gates of the academy, my heart fluttered with a mix of anticipation and apprehension.

Irene's chatter provided a comforting distraction, but beneath her excitement, I could sense her genuine concern for me.
It was reassuring to know that I had her unwavering support, even in the face of my own doubts and fears.

With Irene by my side and the memory of Grandma's words echoing in my mind, I stepped forward into the unknown, ready to embrace my destiny at the Mystic Arts Academy.

As we made our way towards the dormitory, Irene's infectious excitement seemed to permeate the air around us.

Y/N: Irene, do you ever wonder what it will be like?

I glanced at her, hoping for reassurance, but found only mirrored excitement in her eyes.

Irene: Oh, it's going to be amazing! Just think of all the spells we'll learn and the friends we'll make.

Her words were like a beacon of optimism amidst my swirling doubts.

This would be our home, a place where friendships would be forged, and magic would be mastered.

Stepping inside, the warm glow of the common room greeted us, and I couldn't suppress a sense of awe at the sight.

We approached the receptionist's desk, where a kindly-looking woman greeted them with a warm smile.

Receptionist: Welcome to Mystic Arts Academy! How can I assist you today?

Y/N: Hi, we're here to check in. We were assigned to the dormitory.

Receptionist: Of course! May I have your names, please?

Y/N: I'm Y/N, and this is Irene.

Receptionist: Wonderful! Let me pull up your information. Ah, here we are. Ms. Y/N, you're student number 7, and Ms. Irene, you're student number 8.

We exchanged surprised glances, realizing we were assigned consecutive student numbers.

Irene: Wait, does that mean we're in the same dorm?

Receptionist: It seems so! You two are lucky to be placed together. It's always nice to have a friend nearby.

Y/N and Irene exchanged excited looks, feeling relieved that they wouldn't be navigating the challenges of academy life alone.

Receptionist: And there's one more student who will be joining you. She's already settled in, so you'll have a chance to meet her once you're all moved in.

We nodded.

Y/N: We're assigned to the same dorm?

I asked with a smile which showed how relieved I am to be with her.

Irene beamed with excitement, nodding eagerly.

Irene: Isn't it perfect? We'll be roommates!

I smiled at her and nodded.

Y/N: Let's go, shall we?

She nodded and we walked to our room.

I noticed our room number which is 777.

Irene too did and exclaimed.

Irene: 777 symbolizes luck, magic! Woah...

I furrowed in confusion.

Y/N: Is that so?

She nodded and by that time we reached our room.

We opened the door and found a none but things of a girl settled perfectly in her side.

We unpacked our things and arranged them neatly.

Irene: Let's go and look around. Come on!

I noticed the time. We still have more time left to go to bed.

So, I nodded and we left the room.

As we ventured into the academy, I found myself colliding with someone.

....: Maybe you should watch where you're going, little one!

His tone, laced with condescension, irked me instantly.

Y/N: Excuse me? You were the one who bumped into me!

He smirked, attempting to brush off his mistake.

....: I bumped into you?

I nodded firmly, refusing to back down.

His smirk widened, fuelling my frustration.

....: So? What should I do? You weren't looking where you were going either.

Y/N: I was! I wasn't the one barrelling through the crowd like a runaway like you!

With a smugness that grated on my nerves, he leaned in closer.

With a glare I said.

Y/N: I hope your book has insurance.

I glanced at his book which was lying on the ground.
I dont know why am I being this confident. All I just want to punch his face but being an humble person I can't.

He chuckled and said

....: Oh, it does. But does your temper have a warranty?

My temper flared at the jab.

Seriously? This guy was pushing all the wrong buttons.

Y/N:If it did, you'd owe me a refund for all the aggravation you've caused.

As the tension escalated between us, I couldn't resist firing back.

Our verbal sparring continued, each retort more biting than the last, until Irene intervened, sensing that things were spiraling out of control.

Irene: Y/N, maybe we should-

Y/N: Maybe you should learn some manners before you start lecturing others about theirs.

His eyes narrowed, clearly not used to someone standing up to him.

....: You've got a mouth on you, little firecracker.

Y/N: And you've got an ego in the size of a hot air balloon.

Irene's attempts to defuse the situation fell on deaf ears as I refused to let the stranger have the last word.

....: You're going to regret crossing me.

Y/N: I highly doubt it. I've dealt with toddlers throwing tantrums before.

....: You can't talk to me like this!

My confidence remained unshaken, meeting his glare head-on.

Y/n: Its my mouth. So, I can!

....: Do you even know who I am, little one?

Y/N: First, don't ever call me with those names. Second, why? Do you have short-term memory loss? Don't you know who you are, Mr...?

Before he could respond, Irene intervened, sensing the escalating tension.

....: You'll regret your words after knowing me. I am-

Y/N: Listen, I don't want to know your name, Mr. Rude.

I cut him off, dismissing him with a casual wave.

....: What-

Y/N:Look, I don't have time for this. Unlike you, I've got places to be and people to see. So why don't you take your bad attitude somewhere else?

With that, I turned my heel and walked away, leaving the stranger fuming in wake.
