Kevin charged at the snake only to get knocked back. Gwen runs in and puts up a shield when the snake hits her and is thrown back, and Kevin once again gets knocked away. Aria throws energy discs at the alien, and some hit it, but he dodges the rest. The snake grabs her and pulls her to him. "Let go!" She shouts. The snake hisses and attempts to bite, but she grabs his mouth with her hair. Aria glares at the snake and shoots an energy beam from her eyes at him, making him drop her. "You okay?" Gwen asks, running to the girl. "Just peachy." Aria replies. "I thought snakes were supposed to rattle before they strike." Gwen tells the alien. "I'm not a rrrattle sssnake." The alien tells her. "Whatever. I was just making conversation." Gwen tells it and throws mana discs at him, which he dodges. Kevin tackles it before it can get the girls. "I was looking for some metal to absorb." Kevin tells them. "You could've asked me. I could've made it." Aria tells him.
"I'll keep that in mind." Kevin replies, and he tries punching the snake, but it dodges him. "Hold still!" He shouts. The snake spits venom in his face and knocks him away. It tries attacking him again, but Gwen blocks it with a wall. "Back off!" She tells it. "Snake venom burns!" Kevin shouts, rubbing his eyes. "Water incoming!" Aria warns, shooting pressurized in his face. The snake tries attacking Gwen, but she puts up a wall to block him. "I swallow my prey whole." The alien threatens. "Who asked?" Aria asked, shooting shards of crystals at it. "You okay, Kevin?" Aria asks, slapping the alien around using air. "I will be as soon as I armor up." Kevin replies and absorbs the stone. "This would be a lot easier if Ben was here like he promised. An hour ago." Gwen points out. Aria watches Gwen struggle to wrap mana around the alien's hand. Kevin grabs the alien's other arm. "I guess that fancy watch of his doesn't give good time." Kevin says.
Vines reach out from the ground and wrap around the arm Kevin held. "Where is he anyway?" Aria asks. "I'm gonna call him." Gwen says, putting up a shield. She pulls out her phone and dials her cousin's number. "Yeah? Hello?" Ben answers. "Ben. It's your cousin, Gwen." The red-haired says from the other side of the call. "Uh-huh." Ben hums in response. "Is this a bad time?" Gwen asks. "Yeah, kinda. There's going to be a Sumo Slammers movie, and I'm waiting to see if the commercial's coming back on." Ben tells her. "Well, I'm really sorry to disturb you, Ben. I-it's just that you're late for our mission, and the bad guy is kicking our butt." Gwen says, referring to Aria, who got captured, and Kevin, who was getting slammed against the shield.
"So if it's not too much to ask, her up and get over here!" Gwen shouts. "Uh, sorry Gwen. Guess I just forgot." Ben replies. "Now!" Gwen shouts one last time before hanging up. The snake throws Aria into the shield, causing it to break and for the white-haired girl to take the red-haired down with her. "Sorry." Aria apologizes, helping Gwen up. "No bi-- get down!" Gwen grabs Aria and ducks to avoid Kevin, who was thrown at them. Gwen puts up a shield, and the alien breaks it, knocking her back. Aria shoots crystal shards at the alien, but it knocks her away. Kevin tries fighting it, but it punches him and breaks the stone off his face. Jetray flies over and transforms into Cannonbolt. "About time you got here!" Kevin tells him. "There's going to be a Sumo Slammers movie." Cannobolt tells the boy. "Really? Live action?" Kevin asks, and the girls walk over. "Guys, focus! Bad guy on the loose." Gwen reminds them.
"It's not a problem, Gwen. Creeps like this, um... what's your name?" Cannonbolt asks, walking forward. "I am Ssserpent. The snake that walks like a man." Ssserpent slithers forward and crosses his arms. Cannonbolt rolled into a ball and ran Ssserpent over until he was unable to get up. "Is it okay if I call you, Roadkill? The snake that only made it halfway across the street?" Cannonbolt asks, and Ssserpent groans in response and faints. "I'll take that as a yes." Cannonbolt says. Aria, Gwen, and Kevin run over to him as he detransforms. "That didn't take long." Ben says, and his friends glare at him. "Not for you, but we've been fighting him for over an hour." Aria tells him. "Oh." Ben says. "Oh? Where were you?" Gwen asks. "Watching some TV and getting another medal." Ben says with a smug smile. "That reminds me. I should get some kind of trophy case." He says to himself. "You are so full of yourself lately." Gwen tells him. "What's the big deal? I got here, and I took out the bad guy for you." Ben points out, and Gwen stops away, with Aria and Kevin following. "What?" He questions.

At Mr. Smoothy, the gang sat at a table under the shade. "I'm not kidding, Ben. I'm really mad at you." Gwen reminds him. "But you won't stay mad at me. I'm adorable." Ben says with a smug look, and Gwen glares at him. "You're completely full of yourself!" Gwen points out. "Which is forgivable because I'm so adorable." Ben says. "No, it's not." Aria tells him. "Don't tell me you're mad too?" Ben asks her. "Of course I am. You were late for a mission. The three of us could've died!" Aria tells him. "And I don't think you're adorable. I think you're obnoxious." Kevin says and everyone looks at him. "Obnoxious. That's what Gwen used to call me all the time. Am I using it right?" Kevin asks. "Couldn't have said it better myself." Gwen says and smiles at her cousin. "You've been obnoxious ever since you--" "Save the whole entire universe?" Ben asks. "See? You're doing it again." Kevin says. "Obnoxious." Gwen says. "You realize that without us you wouldn't have been able to do that, right?" Aria asks. "What are you talking about? Of course, I could've." Ben tells her. "Whatever." Aria rolls her eyes and walks away. "Lighten up! Have a smoothie on me." Ben tells his friends.
"Okay. Here's a smoothie on you." Gwen tells her cousin, taking off the cap on her cup and pouring the smoothie on his head. Ben looks back at Gwen who laughs along with Kevin and Aria returns. "I hope you like pineapple!" Ben climbs the table and takes the cap off his smoothie. "Come on, Ben. This is a new shirt." Gwen tells him, backing away. The Omnitrix starts beeping so Ben stops. "What it's the Plumber's ComLine." He says checking his watch. "That's gotta be, Grandpa Max." He notes. "Bad news, Ben. Vilgax is back." Grandpa Max tells him. "You're kidding me. Last time I threw him into space." Ben points out. "I'm sure he remembers. Vilgax has issued a conquerer's challenge to you." Grandpa Max informs. "Ben can't accept that." Kevin chimes in. "Sure I can. What is it?" Ben asks his grandpa. "The Galvan set it up to limit the destruction caused by planetary wars. Rather than risk mass destruction, both planets can choose a single warrior to represent them. The winner becomes the ruler of both worlds." Grandpa Max explains. "And Vilgax is challenging me?" Ben asks. "Cool. When and where do I kick his butt?" Ben inquires.

That night, the gang sat in Kevin's car, watching the footage of what happened with Vilgax and the Plumbers. "Ooh, that's going to leave a mark." Ben says when he sees his grandpa shoot Vilgax. "You'd think." Kevin shares, seeing Vilgax unscathed. "He's more powerful than ever, and we barely used to beat him in the old days." Gwen tells her cousin. "We were 10 years old." Ben reminds her. "You see how easy he took down Max and his new Plumbers." Kevin points out. "Those are the rookies. We're the A team. We defeated the Highbreed and--" "Save the whole entire universe." Gwen, Aria, and Kevin say in unison. "We know." Gwen says. "I think you're still gonna need an edge." Kevin tells him, and the garage opens to reveal a machine. "What is that?" Aria asks. "It's for hacking Ben's Omnitrix." Kevin replies.
Ben has his watch under a device, and Kevin is typing something on the control panel. "I don't think this is such a good idea." Gwen says. "I don't think Azmuth's gonna like this." Aria chimes in. "Relax, I've been uh... acquiring stuff I need to fix the Omnitrix for months, and the little guy's not gonna know if we don't tell him." Kevin replies. "Years if you count back to when you were trying to steal it from me." Ben tells him. "Let it go, Ben." Kevin advises. "It's too risky." Gwen tells them. "It's riskier not to." Ben claims. "I figured out a lot of how the Omnitrix works, but if he can bypass the safeguards and unlock the master control, I'll be able to do anything with it." He explains. "Ever wonder why they're called safeguards?" Aria asks. "If we get this working, I'll have full control of every transformation in the watch. Vilgax won't stand a chance." Ben informs her. "I'm in. Let me see if I can access the user interface." Kevin says. A beam shoots down onto the watch, and claws keep Ben's hand in place. The watch reverts back to its original form, and Ben turns to look at Kevin. "Oh, sorry." Kevin apologizes.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Gwen asks. "As much as ever." Kevin replies, putting up the ok sign with his fingers. The Omnitrix goes back to its new form. "See, nothing to worry about--" Kevin's cut off by the watch's beeping. A hologram of Azmuth appears, looking disappointed. "Azmuth?" Ben questions. "Yes. Azmuth, creator of the Omnitrix." Azmuth replies. "And I don't think I ever thanked you for that. Really nice of you." Ben tells him. "This is no time for jests Ben Tennyson. My disappointment with you is aggraved." Azmuth tells him. "Yeah, the line starts over here." Kevin says, waving to Azmuth. "Once I believed you possessed the maturity to wield the most powerful weapon in the universe." Azmuth says. "And then you paid the slightest bit of attention." Gwen says, not amused with what's going on. "It's only very recently that Ben has strayed from the hero's path." Azmuth tells her. "But I saved--" "I know what you have achieved. That is the only reason that I allowed you to keep the Omnitrix. My hope is that you'll grow into the role, but the full power cannot be entrusted to you. Do not tamper with the Omnitrix, Ben Tennyson. You are not ready." Azmuth says before disappearing. "Told you." Aria comments. "Seriously. You really dodged a bullet that time Ben." Gwen tells her cousin.
"Are you kidding me? This is obviously a test." Ben claims and Aria facepalms. "A test?" Kevin asks. "Sure. Azmuth wants me to take the situation into my own hands. If I want the power I have to earn it." Ben says. "That is so not what he meant!" Gwen tells him. "Wanna help me?" Ben asks Kevin. "No." Kevin declines. "Scared of the little guy?" Ben taunts. "Yes." Kevin agrees. "I'm pretty sure, I know how to do this myself, anyway." Ben says activating the beam again. "Ben, that doesn't look right. Turn it off." Gwen tells him. "Never mind that. It's overloading. Dunk the watch." Kevin points out. "It'll take too long. Run for it!" Ben advises. Kevin instead runs to Ben and tries pulling his hand. "Maybe I can--" Kevin's cut off when a bright green light blinds everyone in the garage and explodes.
