"I'm so sorry baby, I had no idea they hated you. I never would have suggested my dad meet us there if I had." Tyler held Lyla so tight that she started coughing due to the lack of oxygen.
Realizing his mistake he loosened his grip enough to pull back and look at her.
"Why are you here Tyler? I understand perfectly okay. Just another way to humiliate Lyla in front of everyone. Go back to my skank sister and let me find someone who will actually love and care enough for me to never lie or deceive me." Lyla tried to break free from Tyler's arms but he held on.
"Baby, I told you I love you and I am thrilled you're my mate. I never had any thoughts about your sister in that way. You are my soulmate and I will not let any other male have what's mine." He tried rubbing his nose along Lyla's mark but she managed to get loose and she bolted off the couch.
"Lyla, please sweetie. You have to believe me. I only want you." Tyler stood and tried to walk to her but she hid behind Adam and Alpha Grey.
Alpha Drew turned to Lyla and Adam. "Why did neither if you tell me about all the abuse? We could have avoided this whole situation if I was informed of what was happening."
Adam spoke up first, "I tried once sir but you were not available and the beta just laughed. When I returned home he had called my father and told him what I said and I was the one that received the beating that night."
"What! Adam why didn't you ever tell me?" Lylas face broke Tyler's heart.
"It was my mistake and you would have paid the price, besides I'm sure you would have attacked him back and then we both would have been bruised for weeks." Adam told Lyla.
"That's the week you stayed in your room. You said you were out with friends after work and got in a fight." Lyla frowned remembering. "You broke your arm."
Adam looked away so Lyla couldn't see his clenched jaw. "Yes."
"All because of me." Lyla whispered as she sank into the chair beside her.
Adam turned around and knelt in front of her. "No Lyla, because our family is sick and twisted is the only reason. Never because of you." Looking at Lyla he wiped a tear with his thumb. "Never because of you." He kissed her forehead then rested his head against hers.
"Actually after Tyler explained that he was mated to their daughter but not the one they wanted he then punched her father and ran upstairs. I got the truth out of Karin." Alpha Drew shared.
"Jealousy and bitterness was her motive to turn everyone you knew against you. Of course the true friends and people that genuinely knew you never fed into her manipulations but unfortunately your parents did.
I have sent them away and you will be safe from now on. Lyla, I swear Tyler had no knowledge of Karin's interest in him and as soon as you ran up the stairs he threatened your family, told me the truth then ran after you. Please give him a chance to prove his love and worth to you."
"There really gone for good? We will never have to see them again?" Lyla asked moving out from behind Adam.
"Yes, the house is Adams and yours and the others have been escorted out of the territory and the neighboring packs have been notified of the reason of their banishment."
Nodding Lyla then looked at Tyler. "Can we talk in private please."
Tyler immediately shook his head yes and Lyla went for the front door. "Lyla you can use my room." Tommy said pointing to a door down the hall.
Tyler growled but his father spoke up before Lyla got a chance. "Tyler Klock! I suggest if you would like your mate to accept you then you better crush any jealous thoughts right now. This pack offered protection when they thought she was in danger. Give them the respect you would want given to you and apologize to your mate while you're at it." Alpha Drew commanded.
"Yes father. Alpha Grey I'm deeply grateful for you and your packs agreement to protect my mate and her brother and I hope my behavior will not affect our packs dealings and alliance." Tyler apologized.
"I am just grateful the situation has been handled and our packs are good. No worries there." Alpha Grey assured Tyler.
Looking at his mate he held out his hand, "Lyla please forgive me and my behavior. I'm just so scared of losing you I'm not thinking straight. Let's go and talk now please."
Lyla nodded and placed her hand in his and walked to the room pointed out to them a few minutes ago.
Closing the door Tyler was nervous and looked for a place to sit since Lyla sat on the edge of the bed.
"It's ok Tyler you can sit beside me." Lyla patted the spot beside her smiling.
"I'm really sorry Lyla. As soon as I heard Karin's ridiculous comments I immediately became outraged and hit your father then explained what happened to my dad. When I finally got upstairs and found you missing I went insane and came back down and threatened your whole family then took off. Dad formed a search party but you had vanished." By the end Tyler had tears in his eyes.
"I believe you Tyler." Lyla said as a smile broke out on his face and he knelt in front of her.
"Thank you so much for giving me a chance. I promise I will never let any one hurt you again." Tyler ran his finger across her cheek and put a strand of hair behind her ear. "I promise to love and protect you until the day I die."
"Let's not let that happen for a very long time then." Lyla smiled as she leaned forward and kissed Tyler's lips.
Stunned, he didn't move until she licked his lips and he immediately opened and Lyla deepened the kiss. Tyler was in heaven as Lyla took control. Breaking away for air Tyler looked at Lyla with all the love and devotion he felt. "I really do love you Lyla. Ever since last summer when I recognized you as my mate I have dreamt of this moment. Well marking and mating you have kept me up most nights but having you in my arms is a dream come true."
Lyla smiled as she traced Tyler's mark she made that morning making his body shake. "I'm glad my touch makes you feel that way."
"Baby just you looking at me makes me feel that way." Tyler admitted blushing.
Lyla smiled, "Good then I won't have to worry about you looking at any other girls."
"I haven't been interested in any other female since last summer. I could never cheat on my mate." Tyler said seriously.
"And I would never either." Lyla admitted to a smiling Tyler.
"Now just to let all the guys at school and in the pack know you are taken. I know of several that have their eyes on you." Tyler stated a little jealous.
"I only have eyes for you Tyler. You're my mate, my whole reason for breathing so please don't ever doubt our connection." Lyla tried reassuring Tyler.
"Of course Lyla, I believe in us and I know we are meant for one another. I will prove that to you for the rest of my life." Tyler once again professed his love. "I love you Lyla Collins and I can't wait to present you as Luna and my mate to the pack."
"Tyler Klock, I am honored to be your mate and the Luna of our pack." Lylas smile lit up her face and Tyler hugged her to his chest like she would disappear in an instant.
A light knock broke the pair apart. "I'm sorry kids but we need to return to the pack." Alpha Drew said through the door.
"Coming dad." Tyler answered for them both.
Pulling Lyla up he held her hand as they exited the room with all eyes on them both. A loud sigh was heard from the area Alpha Drew was waiting in.
"Looks like we won't be needing your hospitality Alpha Grey but I am grateful for the support and offer of protection." Adam and Alpha Grey shook hands.
"Are you sure Adam? You can stay here, I know you have wanted to leave for awhile now." Lyla questioned her brother.
"Lyla, the only reason I was so adamant about leaving was to get you away from those people. I will gladly go back just so I can keep an eye on you. You know, be the overprotective big brother." Adam grinned.
"Let's go home then." Lyla links her arm with her brother as she turned to thank Alpha Grey and his pack.
"We will remember this Alpha and we owe you and your pack a favor." Alpha Drew said as they all started to exit the apartment.
"Just one alpha looking out for another. No favors needed." Both alphas shook hands as the group found their way to the waiting vehicle.
Waving goodbye Lyla rested her head on Tyler's chest and he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "Rest sweetie, I will wake you when we get home."
"Home. Hmm, that's a place I never felt safe or loved." Lyla muttered into Tyler chest.
"It's okay. You will feel safe and loved at your new home my love." Tyler kissed Lylas head. "I promise."
