Y/N POV:
Yinghua, Guiyuan amd Ailan we're hugging me and Maomao to give
us their warmth
"So cold!"- Guiyuan
"The pocket warmers certainly help, but..."- Ailan
"Not having to do anything in this cold is quite an ordeal!" I whined as me and Maomao had our hands above this
warm thingy where it creates heat and had coal or rocks on top. (IDFK WHAT THEY ARE MK???)
"The wind is so cold."- Yinghua
As the wind started to cool down we went behind the curtains and watched the ladies dance
"Look, that's the Empress Dowager."- Guiyan
"She seems very youthful."- Maomao
"She is young. She gave birth to the emperor when she was..." She then went to our ears
and put her voice is just above a whisper
"15."- Guiyuan (Ok so she doesn't actually say how old but guessing from Maomao's expression it must've been pretty young.)
'Damn! 15!?'
My jaw was practically on the floor right now from shock
"The Empress Dowager has two children, the emperor and his younger brother. The rumor is that his brother is too sick to leave his house. I think he was here until a few months ago, though..." Guiyuan explained as we kept our eyes on the event
"I see." Maomao and I said in unison

"HUH!? Who are you all calling basic?! We ladies in waiting serve our mistresses!Whats the point in dressing up?!"
Yinghua yelled at the ladies that were talking crap about Lady Gyokuyou's Ladies in waiting
"Pfft. Did you hear that? Having ugly servants hurts the mistresses obviously." The ladies giggle
Yinghua looked pissed like she wanted to punch them in the face multiple times
'Hey... Aren't those Lady Lihua's ladies in waiting?'
I glare at them in disgust
"Oh, Yinghua. And so, the proxy war begins. Lets go." Guiyuan looked at us as she started heading towards Ailan and Yinghua with us behind her
"I guess you can't help it, seeing such an ugly you hired but you only have one pretty girl. She should be with us, I wonder what kind of words you used to persuade her into going in with you ugly freaks."
'Are they really calling my best friends ugly and leaving me out calling me pretty and I should join a bunch of actual freaks like them?! No way, and plus Maomao and the others are prettier then their shitty faces.'
"Having someone like that around is truly a shame."
"What did you say!?" Yinghua had a irk mark on her cheek looking at Lady Lihua's, Ladies in waiting
"Yinghua! Calm down!" Guiyuan and Ailan tried holding her back
'They still haven't learned their lesson? Tch. Whatever.'
Yinghua tried to excape their grasp
"Hey! YOU APOLOGISE TO MAOMAO AND Y/N NOW!" Yinghua yelled
Maomao put a hand over her mouth then above and whispered in a spooky way 'Heh'
and I just gave them the worst glare
The ladies got scared and frozed in place
"What can't talk all of a sudden? Why?" I teased
"I-I think thats e-enough for today! G-Goodbye!" They left quickly
I look at Maomao and smile at her
"Good job, Mao." I pat her shoulder
"What's her problem? Hey Maomao, Y/n you two alright?" Yinghua asked as the three of them turned to our direction
"Yeah I'm alright. And Mao don't listen to those weirdo's your pretty the way you are!" I smiled at Maomao
Maomao smiled at me and the others knowing we all care about her well being
"We're just glad you guys are alright." Maomao and I say in unison
They must've been in their own thoughts after we said that
'They're being delusional again.'
We then all went to walk to the place we were before and placed our hands over the heating thing again
until we heard another proxy fight
"Ah, the Virtuous and pure Consorts' servants. They don't get along either. The virtuous Consort is fourteen and arrived later, the Pure Consort is thirty-five and has been here the longest. No wonder they don't get along. Besides, they used to be Daughter-and-Mother-in-law." Guiyan explained to us as we all watched the proxy fight until she brang up 'Daughter-and-mother-in-law'
"Um.... It's a bit complicated. Before, one of the previous emperor's concubine, and the other was our current emperor's concubine but the previous emperor passed away, right?"- Guiyan
"The previous emperor's concubine left the palace once, but returned as the current emperor's concubine."- Yinghua
"The previous emperor died five years ago. Back then, Concubine Ah-Duo was thirty years old and Concubine Lishu was nine."- Maomao
'DAMN A CONCUBINE AT NINE?!'
"Unbelieveable, right? Being a mother-in-law at nine years old."- Yinghua
"Nine.... Mother. M-Mother!?" Me and Maomao's jaw dropped to the floor
"The one who was the previous emperor's concubine was Lady Lishu's!?" I exclaimed in shock
We then went behind the curtains again while I held Lady Gyokuyou's baby because I insisted I should hold her so Ailan can get 'rest' and in the corner of my eye I saw Lady Lishu as me, Maomao and Ailan bowed since Guiyuan and Yinghua were somewhere else
"Hmph!" She just left and acted like we were poor people where the rich ignores them and treats them like crap
'Don't 'Hmph!' me bitch, fuck you.'
I just out on a fake smile as I have a irk mark on my head until Ailan spoke up
"As you probably saw, Lady Lishu is still pretty young."
'Maybe I should just go easy on the kid. She is still young like Ailan just said'
"Yes, we see that."- Maomao
I put my attention back to the baby and smile at it and kissed its forehead
Maomao and I saw Lady Lihua's, Ladies in waiting freezing and went up to them to give them some of the warmers to make them hold them and warm up since the wind picked up again
"Here." They just backed up and I and Maomao tried giving it to them three more times but they ran away
"Whatever." I sigh as we go to watch the ladies perform again and then went back to where Guiyan, Yinghua and Ailan were at.
We walked up to the heat thingy and saw them there
"Your so kind Maomao and Y/n!"- Guiyuan
"Suggesting to give the with the crystal pavilion ladies in waiting. And holding while taking care of Lady Gyokuyou's baby for awhile then giving it back to her." Yinghua had admiration stained in her voice of our actions
"And getting Lady Gyokuyou's permission." Ailan placed a smile
Just then we heard foot steps walking behind us and going to someone handing them a hair pin with a sapphire gem slightly hanging off the golden pin.
"A hairpin?" Maomao and I look at the dude and see him handing them to individals
"It's how they try to recruit talented workers hidden in this flower garden. But it has another meaning though!" Yinghua explained looking at the man then back at us
"Oh! I see!" I smile as I flipped the warmers on the heating pot (ima call it that since idk) with our chopsticks and putting them back in our 'pockets'
"Meaning, huh?" Maomao looked up and at where the man went and started following him.
"Oh okay." I watch Maomao walk away till her figure was not visible
"To be honest I want her to give me one too. I want that sapphire one! It looked so pretty!" But moments later as she came back with two, it looked different then I imagined
'I should've never had my hopes up....'
She handed me one as she kept the other and held it as I did the same
"It's beautiful, but I thought all the hair pins from those men were all the same." But Maomao shook her head in reply
"I believe you should have more." We turn around and see Lady Lihua with her ladies in waiting
We bow our upper bodies
"It's been some time." Lady Lihua stopped in her tracks right in front of us
"Yes, my lady, it has been a long time."- Me
As I felt her get closer I started to stand up properly as she put a new pin in our hairs
(Except that the big flower dangling with the others is not there :>)
"That's all for today." She said so calmly as I look at the pin and smile
All her Ladies in waiting were shocked by this
"Lady Lihua?" But she just ignored her Lady in waiting
"We'll take our leave. Have a pleasant day."
I then glare at the other Ladies in waiting for Lady Lihua not forgetting what they did
They shreak and quickly left with Lady Lihua
"Lady Gyokuyou won't like this..." Guiyuan sweat dropped
"What an understatement..." Yinghua added
"What will you do with these hairpins?" Ailan asked us
I then just decided to take them all off and put them in my obi along with the other one Maomao got for me from the man
We then went behind one of the small tables and sat down.
'Why is it only the men watching?'
I thought as a Lady poured in some tea in my cup and the others and see if its poison and then water to rinse our mouths
I inspect the cup and take a sip then start drinking it all as it only stingged my tongue
I then drank the water then looked at the other people seeing their faces looked scared
As I was finished with Maomao the Lady handed us another dish.
'Vinegar fish-and-vegetables? But it looks like jellyfish'
I then grab my metal chopsticks and inspect it before eating it
I then looked at the eleven year old concubine and saw her eating
'fish?'
She had a disgusted and terrifided look
'She must not like it.'
I look at the Lady behind her as she smirked at the girl
Then the Lady came back and handed us miso soup
I grabbed my spoon and dipped it in the soup and sniffed it and then started to drink it.
'Oh my gosh~!'
I smile in all giddy and delight as blush spread across my cheeks
I then wipe my mouth and say
"This is poison." With a smirk as me and Maomao got up and quickly rushed out but walked then everyone gasoed as the men started talking and the Ladies looking at their miso soup not touching it at all
Maomao and I increased our walking and started rushing to get water to rinse our mouths
As we got there and started drinking the water as a few minutes go by we hear foot steps as we finished drinking the water
"Apothcaries!" Jinshi said from behind me, making me jump in surprise and step away from him.
"Hello...." I look away from him but slightly look at him with a smile as Maomao hada huge smile on her face
Jinshi was surprised as I didn't notice him blushing a little from my smile.
"Well your day seems to be better than mine." Jinshi frowned
'Did we get to excited of the poison.'
My eyes go blank and in a circle as my lips were a thin straight line

He grabbed my hand and told Maomao to follow us.
"H-Hey let me go you degenerate male!" I exclaimed though I kinda liked it for some odd reason
"I'm just taking you to the infirmary." He said as we kept walking
"Wait but we coughed out the poison. We feel quite well." I say as he kept holding my hand dragging me there as Maomao watched with a light smirk
He just ignored me but then I said this
"(Master) Jinshi." - Me (you can say 'master' if you want bcuz thats what I have been seeing and hearing in the episodes when they call out Jinshi.)
He blushed a little as I called his name
"Yes?"- Jinshi
"Can we have more of that soup? PLEASE!" I begged
He then put an irk mark on his face in dissapointment
"You're an idiot." I just glared at him in response
"But we can use this. It turns your stomach inside out!" I grab a red tiny pocket bag and show it to him as theres something inside
"Isn't that poison too?" He snatched it away from me as I let go of his hands and try grabbing it from his other hand
but he put it in his pocket (Like when i say pocket i mean like their chest area they put it in their clothing where the chest is as the pockets in there) but as I was about to get on my tipy toes he pulled me towards him putting his hands around my waist making me blush a little
"What are you doing?!" He just ignored me as my shoulder was pressed against his side as we kept walking
as I heard Maomao giggle
I just let things happen
'Gosh why am I letting him even do this? Am I gettin- Wait! No, no, no, no and no! No way am I getting comfortable with a male like him! The only males I will accept is Maomao's father and my father.... Who is dead :P'
I notice the pin in his hair looked at it
'He has a new one?'
I just ignore it since it's not a big of a deal but some how it was to Maomao
Time skip:
Later after like 15 minutes of puking in a bucket from the poison I wipe my mouth with a tissue and drink some water.
As I was FINALLY done puking along with Maomao we got up as Jinshi and her talked about who poisoned that Concubine and stuff
We then went to the eleven year old girls pavilion and saw her Lady in waiting (She kinda look like Lady Muzan tbh)
"Master Jinshi! How may I be your service?" She blushed and looked at him in admiration though knowing him he could never date a child at such age
"I'm sorry to bring you to this inelegant place. These Ladies in waiting wanted to speak to you" He did a closed eye smile
Me and Maomao go up to her and bow our upper bodies
"Hmph! Ladies in waiting?" She looked annoyed
'I already hate this Concubine, but I will still respect her.'
As me and Maomao stand up straight we saw her scratching her arm
"Excuse us." Maomao quickly went up to the Concubine and lifted her sleeves up as we saw rashes
I held her arm as I inspected it
"I see. Can you not eat fish?" I asked as me and Maomao let go of her arm as she pulled it away
She looked down with a frown
"What is it?" Jinshi came up behind me
'Now I kinda feel bad for this child.'
"Some people have things they cannot eat." I back away from him a little and look at the little Concubine
"Like for me I can't eat buckwheat." I look at Maomao
"Same with me. I can't eat that too." I pressed my lips forward with my arms crossed over my chest
"But yet you two still eat poison?!" I just ignore him
"Leave us alone. I tried to build a tolerance." Maomao glared at him
"But yet, it made our throats swell and it was hard for us to breathe. Even a little bit caused rashes, so it was hard to adjust the amount. And it took a long time for us to heal." I explained
"That's what I meant to 'cannot eat'" She replied
"Lady Lishu. How is your stomach? I can get you laxative if you..."- Maomao
The girl shook her head
"H-How did you know?"- Lady Lishu
"It was clear that the rear palace prepared the food for the garden party."- Me
"However, vinegar dish used a different ingredient from the usual one."- Maomao
"And it seemed Lady Lishu's dish was different so it must've gotten swapped with Lady Gyokuyou's dish."- Me
"I see."- Lady Lishu
"Is it mackerel that you can't eat?"- Me
"...Yes...." Her voice was just above a whisper
"But this isn't about liking nor disliking food." Maomao glared at Lady Lishu's Lady in waiting
"It was just hives this time, but sometimes, it can cause difficulty in breathing. Feeding her this knowingly..." Me and Maomao give the Lady in waiting a death stare
"Would be the same as poisoning her." I directed to the other Lady in waiting (Not Maomao)
The Lady in waiting shakes a bit with a terrified look
"Eh? If I recall aren't you her food taster?" I asked
"Y-Yes." She responded quickly
Maomao went to a table to grab something
"I've taken notes of what to be what to be careful of in a emergency. Of course, avoiding these foods are for the best."- Maomao
Maomao then handed it to the Lady in waiting
"Please take a look, it's not difficult"- Maomao
"But if something goes wrong, not even the palace doctor could fix it."- Me
"It could be deadly. Please keep that in mind."- Maomao
Maomao gave her a creepy look as the Lady in waiting nodded not being able to speak
As they left Jinshi put a hand on my shoulder making me jolt
"What was that about?" He asked as I just pushed his hand off swapping sides with Maomao
"Were you not paying attention at all (Master) Jinshi?" I had an irk mark on my forehead
"Well we should be off to report to Lady Gyokuyou." Maomao and I bow and leave
