You brush past me in the hallway and you don't think I can see it, do you?
I've been watching you for ages
and I spent my time trying not to feel it

"So you like this guy then?" He clarified after a long catch up with his cousin who had just debut. It was crazy really.

Jiho was sat on the desk chair as she was on her bed, sighing as she laid back.
"He's cute, I didn't say I'm in love with him." She scoffed. "It's nothing serious though."

To Hayun, it really was nothing serious. Like one of those workplace crushes. Jisung was just really cute and she wanted to know more about him. Her crush for him was harmless and nothing would actually come from it.

"Maybe he just doesn't want to be friends with you." Jiho commented, making Hayun shoot a glare in his direction.
"Thanks, that makes me feel so much better." She drawled out sarcastically.

Jiho leant back at her desk, looking at her laptop she had from when they went to the store to buy them for school.

"You don't even study anymore, what do you use this for?"
"To play the sims obviously." Hayun replied as if it was obvious. "Anyways, do you think I should text him again?"

"He literally did not reply to anything you sent, don't be stupid."
"Yeah but..."
"He seems rude." Jiho muttered, eyes grazing over her room decorations.
"He's not even." She groaned, putting her head in her hands. She was laid stomach down on her bed. "He's so nice."

"Doesn't seem it to me. Anyways, why do you care so much about him if you're always the one initiating conversations. What kind of friendship is that?"

"He's shy." She defended.
Jiho rolled his eyes, muttering something about girls being girls under his breath.

"Don't use that attitude on me." Hayun narrowed her eyes. "Or I'll tell your boyfriend that you're in love with him."

It was Jiho's turn to narrow his eyes.
"You don't know anything, shut up."
"Oh please." Hayun laughed. "You are literally dating. I'm not blind."
"No we aren't."
"Yes you are, I saw you kiss."

There was a silence.

"You can't tell anyone." He flushed, eyes looking away.
"I'm telling everyone." She teased and he looked at her seriously.
"No...you actually can't. Dad will kill me..."

Hayun's teasing expression dropped.
"I won't." She said quickly, knowing his family too well. "But I'm happy for you." She switched the mood. "Tell me how it happened, who asked who, give me the details."

She was perked up now, waiting for the details with shining eyes and the boy scoffed, leaning forward to push her back with a hand on her forehead.
"Ouch." She glared at him.
"None of your business."
"Damn, so moody." She grunted, sticking her middle finger at him and he responded back with both middle fingers.

Hayun and Jiho stayed hanging out in her room before he looked at the time and realised he needed to go to work.

"I'll see you later." He said when they were by the door.
"Want me to walk you down?" She asked and he shook his head. "Well, thanks for the brownies, tell your Mum I said thanks too."
"Alright," he nodded. "And by the way..."

Jiho trailed off after his words, glancing at Hayun who was most of the time filled with optimism and playfulness. But when he saw her, he could remember the time years ago when the light was taken from her when her Mother walked out.

Hayun looked like her Mum, more so as she got older. It's sad that her mother wasn't around to witness it.
"Hm?" She asked, confused why he stopped.

"She would be proud of you." Is what he said, hurt flashing past her eyes alongside her face falling just a bit.
"Wish she was here." She whispered out, heart aching.

Jiho smiled sympathetically, looking at her and now he could see the 13 year old in her, the one who cried and cried.

As Jiho's words lingered in the air, Hayun found herself standing by the door, her thoughts drifting back to a time when her world seemed simpler yet carried the weight of an absent presence- the memory of her mother.

In the quiet moments that followed, the room held echoes of unspoken emotions. Her mother's absence had left an indelible mark on her, a void that, no matter how much time passed, reminded her of the irreplaceable bond they once shared.

Hayun moved back to her bed, the warmth of Jiho's encouragement conflicting with the subtle ache that resided in the depths of her heart. She traced her fingers over the familiar contours of a framed photograph on her bedside table – a captured moment frozen in time, a snapshot of her mother's smile.

The image depicted a time when laughter echoed through their home, and her mother's presence wrapped around her like a comforting embrace. In those fleeting moments, the shared joy seemed infinite, but life had its way of destroying that.

She couldn't help but wonder how her mother would react to the person she had become, the milestones she had reached, and the dreams she continued to chase. A bittersweet smile touched her lips as she envisioned conversations they could have had, the advice she might have shared, and the pride that would radiate from her eyes.

As Jiho left, Hayun couldn't shake the lingering sense of longing that accompanied thoughts of her mother. She cherished the memories, both the laughter and the tears, understanding that her journey was intertwined with the essence of a woman who had left an enduring impact on her life.

With a quiet sigh, she whispered words to the photograph, "I miss you." before collecting herself, the optimism that usually defined her spirit gradually returning.

She couldn't let herself get upset, she couldn't.

Instead, she decided to look through social media at the reactions from the debut. Amidst watching back the debut performance video, Hayun scrolled through the comments.

"I'm literally going to kill myself." Jisung muttered to himself as he began walking the opposite direction as soon as he stepped into the cafe because he saw Hayun in line. She was with her guy friend, the two of them laughing.

If she took a glance behind her, she'd see Jisung. So he left.

All he could think about was how embarrassing that day was, why the hell did he send her a drunken selfie. The thought of it only made him feel worse.

He headed to the cafeteria instead, knowing she was probably with her friend and he wouldn't see her around for a while.

When he entered and grabbed a snack, he saw the Aespa girls sat together on a table, he sent a brief smile but sat on a different table.

Jisung was sat there alone, typing away on his phone as he smiled in amusement.

Hayun and Doyun were just passing the cafeteria when she halted and looked at the boy next to her.
"Uh, hey. You go ahead without me." She said, referring to them both visiting their old vocal teacher.

"You sure?" He asked, puzzled and she nodded, giving a reassuring smile. "Okay...well let me know when you're free okay?"
"Yeah, I'll text you!" She said, entering the cafeteria with her eyes on one boy in particular.

Jisung just so happened to glance up, being caught off guard when he saw Hayun heading his way already halfway there. He bashed his knee against the underside of the table as he got up so fast. He almost tripped over the table leg and his own feet.

The unexpected movement earned a couple of curious glances from people nearby.

Determined to avoid an encounter, Jisung swiftly got up, his cheeks slightly flushed from the unexpected commotion. Without making eye contact with Hayun, he found refuge at a nearby table where Aespa members were seated, attempting to blend in with their conversation.

Hayun, momentarily taken aback by his sudden actions, stood there for a moment, feeling a pang of dejection. She watched as Jisung settled at the other table, his back turned to her, and a sense of confusion washed over her.

"Hey, what was that all about?" Karina asked in a hushed tone, referring to Hayun.

Jisung, still slightly flustered from his clumsy escape, attempted to play it cool. "Oh, nothing. Just a little accident. Tripped over myself," he replied, avoiding direct eye contact.

The other Aespa members exchanged glances, catching the subtle awkwardness in the air. Giselle, sensing something more beneath the surface, gave Jisung a playful nudge.
"Tripped, huh? Looks like you were dodging a missile or something. Who's the girl?"

Jisung, trying to maintain composure, chuckled nervously.
"What?"

From where Hayun was, she saw the Aespa girls talking to Jisung, Ningning leaning closer to ask him something to which he dipped his head to hear her.

Hayun genuinely was so sad.
What was even going on?
Is he avoiding me?

She turned around, only to flinch in surprise at the fact Chenle was stood right there.

"Sorry." He apologised for scaring her but there was a moment where his eyes drifted from Jisung to her. "Not sitting with Jisung today?"

"Was going to...think he wanted to sit with the girls." She said, shrugging.

Chenle raised a brow but didn't say much.
Jisung never sits with them alone willingly.

"Hm, congrats on your debut by the way."
"Thank you." She replied as he walked off to join the others.

Hayun kept walking, leaving straight out of the cafeteria.

Jisung glanced over his shoulder, sighing in relief when he didn't see her still there.
"What's going on with you?" Chenle asked, taking food from Jisung. "Did you get into an argument or something?"

"What? Did you guys argue?" Karina looked concerned.
"No...it's nothing." He shook his head, it was too embarrassing to explain what he did.

It kept happening, she would see Jisung but suddenly he would need to walk in a different direction or avoid all eye contact.

Chenle was observant and he had no clue why Jisung was acting this way, until he forced him to spill.

So Jisung did, his embarrassment so high he could literally start crying.

Chenle was sat across from him, staring at his best friend.

"I don't know....if I'm even surprised." He finally said.
Jisung groaned, putting his head in his arm.
"I can't believe I drunk called her, oh my god." His cheeks were tinted red and Chenle would've teased him but he looked genuinely distressed.

"So, you've been avoiding her? You haven't told her why?"
"No. I'm scared, I can't believe I did that. What should I do?"

"Um, man up maybe?" Chenle deadpanned but Jisung shot him a glare. "Bro, you're such a loser. You've just been ignoring her, she probably thinks you hate her."

"It's not her I hate, it's me." His voice muffled.
"Okay, don't cry. Just don't run away from her again...god you're so stupid." Chenle muttered.

Jisung suddenly tensed when he saw the group of girls walking in, Everlast were all laughing and talking to another when they entered.
"I gotta go." He said abruptly, getting up and  striding for the doors before Chenle could even speak.

Chenle looked from Jisung to Hayun who was looking back at him. He was a little surprised she was looking at him and not Jisung. After a few passing seconds, Chenle got up from his seat and followed Jisung out of the cafeteria.

"Hey," Akari nudged Hayun. "Your food is going to go cold."
"Huh- oh, right."
"You okay?" Hana asked, worried but Hayun smiled and nodded in response.

Now they had debuted, Everlast were going on music bank to perform their debut song. They were surprised with all the attention their debut had gotten, but they were really thankful.

Hayun was truly so tired though, everything hurt. She was exhausted.

That evening, she didn't even have the energy to take the lift up to her dorm.

Hayun sat alone in the lobby of the apartment building, exhaustion etched across her features. Her head was cradled in her hand, and a heavy weariness lingered in her eyes. The weight of the performance clung to her, every movement on stage playing back in her mind.

The soft hum of the lobby's lighting above provided a subtle ambiance, casting a gentle glow on the tired figure. The distant chatter of residents and the occasional passing footsteps formed a distant backdrop to her solitude.

Her fingers traced invisible patterns on her knee as she let out a quiet sigh. The energy that fueled her during the performance seemed to dissipate, leaving behind a quiet vulnerability in its wake. The contrast between the vibrant stage presence and the subdued presence in the lobby was stark.

As she sat there, alone with her thoughts, the exhaustion seemed to amplify. The lobby, usually a transient space, became a momentary sanctuary for her to collect the fragments of energy scattered by the demands of the day.

Hayun looked down at her phone, her lock screen was her and her family. She missed them.

Hayun, overwhelmed by a wave of homesickness, found herself on the verge of tears. The echoes of the bustling city around her only intensified the ache in her chest. With a deep breath, she attempted to hold back the tears, clenching her fists as if to anchor herself in that moment.

The memories of home, the familiar faces, and the comforting embrace of her family played like a nostalgic film in her mind. The contrast between the glamorous stage life and the simple warmth of home tugged at her heartstrings.

She blinked rapidly, fighting against the welling emotions. Hayun refused to let the tears escape, knowing that once they started, it might be challenging to stop. She pressed her lips together, a silent promise to herself not to break down in the midst of the lobby.

The internal struggle was evident in her eyes, a mix of vulnerability and determination. Holding onto her composure, Hayun tried to focus on the present, pushing the homesickness to the depths of her emotions, even though the ache lingered beneath the surface.

Instead of dwelling on her thoughts, she distracted herself by scrolling through social media.

When she went to search up her brothers instagram username, her recent searches came up. Jisung's username was there, the time when she was looking through profiles to see what idols post.

Jisung

Wait he looks.....okay, no don't even

What's going on with him though

She sighed, trying not to think too much about it at all.

Jisung knew one thing, his life was over.

Okay, maybe that was dramatic but it felt like it was.

Now what was he supposed to do?

God, why did this have to happen?

There was a hand on his shoulder, he glanced over to see Renjun staring at him worriedly. They were in the kitchen and Jisung was sat in his pyjamas at the kitchen island stressing.

"What's wrong?"
"Everything." He muttered but from Renjun's deeply concerned look, he shook his head. "I'm joking, why are you up?"

"I couldn't sleep. What's on your mind?"
"Chenle's annoying." He shrugged it off, not wanting to go into his embarrassment. He got up from the stool. "Goodnight, hopefully you can get to sleep."
"Night Jisung." Renjun replied.

Jisung was angry at himself.

Hayun was angry at Jisung.

When the next day rolled around, Hayun knew she had to find Jisung. He wouldn't reply over text so she would force him to reply in person instead.

Hayun, fueled by anger and determination, scoured the building to find Jisung. Spotting him from a distance, she approached with swift strides. Panic flashed across Jisung's face as he noticed her approaching.

"Jisung!" Hayun's voice cut through the air. He quickened his pace, attempting to avoid her, but she closed the gap, blocking his way.

Now she was stood right in front of him, looking up without a smile and instead with hurt flashing in her eyes.

"Why-"
"I- um, I h-have practice now." He took a step forward with the intent of leaving but Hayun stepped to the side to block him.

"Why are you avoiding me?"

Jisung, his eyes darting anxiously, felt a surge of nerves as Hayun blocked his path. His attempts to evade her had failed, and now he found himself trapped in an uncomfortable confrontation. He fidgeted, hands twitching at his sides, as the weight of Hayun's piercing gaze felt heavy.

The tension in the air was palpable, and Jisung's nervous energy powered in subtle movements, a restless shifting of weight from one foot to the other, fingers tapping anxiously against his thigh. His eyes betrayed a mix of apprehension and a desire to escape, but with Hayun standing firm, there was no easy way out.

He wasn't even looking at her, cheeks tinted pink in embarrassment and flushed from the confrontation.

Jisung hadn't even responded, Hayun felt really hurt. Because it was true, he was avoiding her.

Hayun, frustration evident in her eyes, didn't back down.
"Jisung, seriously, what's going on? Why are you avoiding me?" She held his gaze, waiting for an answer.

Jisung, caught off guard, stammered as he tried to form a coherent response.
"I-I'm not avoiding you. It's j-just... busy, you know, with rehearsals and stuff."

Hayun's expression remained unconvinced. "Busy? Chenle said you were avoiding me. What's really going on?"

Jisung's eyes darted around nervously, unable to meet hers. The weight of the unspoken truth hung in the air, and Hayun pressed further, determined to get to the bottom of the situation.

There was a silence as Hayun looked at him but he wouldn't look at her, itching to get out of this situation.

"Were you avoiding me?" She asked again and he didn't verbally reply but this time he didn't deny it.

Jisung, still avoiding eye contact, remained silent, and Hayun, frustration bubbling over, scoffed.
"If I annoyed you that much, you could've just said so. Ignoring me is just...it's not nice, it's rude."

"I-it's not...it's not that I..." he stumbled over his words, nothing actually coming out.
"It's what?" She gave him the opportunity to answer but in the end he didn't.

"Whatever." She mumbled, turning away and leaving him alone like he wanted.

Hayun didn't try to go to Jisung, she wasn't a fool.

Here in the cafeteria when she entered, her gaze caught sight of Jisung as it usually did but she looked away. Her eyes landed on Doyun who she had skipped plans with yesterday.

"Hey, sorry I'm late." She apologised, the cold air from outside making her cheeks and the tip of her nose flush pink. "I had to go back to the dorm to get something."

"It's okay." Doyun smiled, not minding much. "How have you been?"
"Good, you? I'm sorry I haven't had time to talk lately."

"Yeah I'm good," he leant forward with his hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it, really. I understand."

"You're actually hopeless." Chenle commented, watching Jisung glance over at where Hayun was. "You're the most stupidest person I've met. Like out of everyone-"

"Okay." Jisung cut him off. "I get it."
"All of this because you got drunk. Is it even that big of a deal?"
"Yes!" Jisung cried out, huffing. "I can't believe this."

"Why's he having a crisis?" Jeno asked, confused.

After that, he didn't see much of her.

Chenle genuinely could not stand this for any longer. He felt like pulling his hair out of his damn scalp.

So he did what he needed to do.

Unknown

He's embarrassed he drunk called and texted you

He's just yeah

Well thanks Chenle I'm glad I finally know why😭

👍

It was right there when Hayun pulled on her hoodie and a coat, slipping her feet into her shoes and leaving the dorm.

Thanks to knowledge from Chenle, she arrived outside of their dorm. Yes, outside of the dream dorm.

A mix of nerves and determination coursed through her. When Renjun answered the door, he looked genuinely confused.

"Hey, Renjun. Is Jisung home?" Hayun asked, her voice steady despite the whirlwind of emotions inside her.

Yeah...he's here. What's up?" Renjun replied, studying her with a hint of curiosity.
"I just want to speak to him...is that okay?"
"Oh sure, should I call him out?"

"I don't think he will come out if he knows I'm here. Can I..." she trailed off, unsure if she seemed strange. He got the hint and opened the door wider to let her in.

"Thanks, which is his room?"
"The one at the very end." Renjun told her, she smiled and made her way over.
"What's going on?" Jeno asked Renjun quietly, who shrugged.

She knocked on his door, waiting for a reply.
"What?" He answered, thinking it was one of his members.

Hayun, determined and fueled by a mix of frustration and confusion, opened the door and stepped into Jisung's room.

Jisung, already feeling on edge, looked up from whatever he was doing and his eyes widened in sheer surprise at the unexpected visitor.

"Hayun? W-what...what are you doing here?" he stuttered, his initial shock transforming into a mix of confusion and major panic.

He sat up straighter on his bed, not believing his eyes at all, because what the hell?

Hayun, undeterred, closed the door behind her and met his gaze. He was still perplexed she was in his room.
"Stop avoiding me, let's just talk instead."

Jisung, caught off guard by her sudden appearance and directness, fumbled with his words.
"I...uh, talk? About what?"

Hayun sighed, frustration evident in her expression.
"Have you really been avoiding me because of that day you were drunk?"

Jisung's face flushed, embarrassment washing over him.
"I-I didn't mean to avoid you. It's just...I didn't know how to face you after...you know. It's embarrassing..." he trailed off quietly.

Hayun softened slightly, realizing the source of his anxiety.
"Jisung, come on we're friends. It's not like I'd genuinely make fun of you. It wasn't even embarrassing...but avoiding me only made things worse."

"I'm sorry, Hayun. I didn't mean to avoid you. I just didn't want things to be awkward. It was embarrassing...I can't believe it." He was looking down at his lap, feeling guilty.

There was a subtle, soft amused laugh from Hayun and Jisung glanced up, hurt but she wasn't looking at him teasingly.
"You're cute when you're drunk. You're basically a philosopher, I liked your speeches."

His face flushed deep.

"Also, I hope you don't mind but that picture you sent? Oh, yeah it's definitely your contact pic now."
"Wha- oh god but-" he didn't have time to finish his sentence because there was a playful glint in Hayun's eyes as she walked closer to him and grabbed his wrist.

He was surprised, leaning back a little nervous.

Hayun's playful and carefree demeanor took over as she teased.
"You're stuck with that picture now, philosopher boy. And don't worry, I won't share it with anyone... unless you give me a reason to."

Jisung's face turned an even deeper shade of red, and he stammered.
"I-I didn't mean to send that. I'm so embarrassed."

Hayun chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Well, consider it payback for avoiding me. Now," she glanced outside his window. "It's snowing outside." She stated.

Then she looked down at him with a glint in her eyes as her smile grew.

"And we're going to build alien snowmen."

"What?"
Hayun gave no mind to his confusion because she tugged on his arm and told him to get up.
"I promised you, remember? Come on, don't make me sad." She said, frowning.

Jisung protested weakly.
"Hayun, it's cold outside. I don't think-"

She cut him off with a determined grin, grabbing his wrist and pulling him toward the door.
"No excuses, Jisung. Get your coat. We're about to make the best alien snowmen around."

Jisung, still in disbelief, tried to resist, but Hayun's infectious energy overpowered him. With a mix of protest and tugging from Hayun, they ventured into the winter wonderland outside.

Amidst the serene winter landscape, Hayun and Jisung found themselves in a quaint scene of snow-covered surroundings. The air was crisp, and the soft flakes gently fell, creating a hushed ambiance around them. Hayun, brimming with enthusiasm, crouched down to scoop up a handful of fresh snow, her eyes sparkling with childlike delight.

Her laughter echoed in the stillness as she shaped the snow into a round ball, the pure white contrasting with the vibrant colors of her scarf and beanie.

Hayun's movements were fluid, carefree, and she looked like she belonged to the winter magic around her. Jisung, on the other hand, stood a bit apart, hesitating, his breath visible in the cold air.

"Hayun, I'm not sure about this," Jisung admitted, glancing around nervously.

Hayun glanced up, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Come on, Jisung! It's fun. Just let go for a moment."

Undeterred, she continued her snowman-building mission, coaxing Jisung to join in. He reluctantly bent down, mimicking her actions, but there was still a stiffness in his movements, a wariness as if he was worried about making a mistake.

Hayun noticed his hesitation and couldn't resist teasing him.
"Thought you wanted to make an alien snowman?"

Jisung's cheeks were red, only making her laugh more.

As the snow began to take shape under their hands. Hayun radiated warmth and joy, her carefree spirit evident in every movement.

Jisung, though initially reserved, started to loosen up, a hint of a smile playing on his lips as he got caught up in the moment.

The alien snowman started to take form with three distinct sections—each one representing a head, a torso, and a set of legs.

Hayun giggled, "Look at our alien coming to life! Now, let's find some twigs for its arms, and maybe we can use that fallen branch for antennae."

Jisung, warming up to the creative endeavor, ventured into the snowy landscape in search of suitable twigs. Meanwhile, Hayun made the alien's eyes and mouth using small stones she found nearby. They collaborated seamlessly, their laughter filling the winter air.

Returning with twigs in hand, Jisung contributed to the alien's quirky appearance. They used the twigs for arms, creating a snow creature that was part extraterrestrial, part whimsical creation.

As a finishing touch, they placed the branch atop the alien's head as a makeshift antennae.

Hayun, overcome with a sense of accomplishment, turned her gaze from snow to Jisung. His smile, genuine and warm, mirrored the satisfaction of their collaborative creation. She couldn't help but admire the subtle joy etched on his face.

As the artificial lights reflected off the pristine snow, casting a soft glow on their surroundings, Hayun's heart swelled with a quiet happiness.

Hayun looked at Jisung with a soft smile. His eyes tore from the snowman and met hers, and in that shared moment of accomplishment, a warmth spread between them. Jisung, usually reserved, reciprocated with a shy, genuine smile.

The air between them felt light, the snowy landscape serving as a backdrop to this unspoken friendship.

There was some silence before he spoke.
"Were you joking about the picture?"
"Nope." She quipped. "It's staying as your contact picture now. Unless you want to snowball fight and winner chooses?" She suggested, raising her eyebrows.

He couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head.
"It's cold..." he looked around then to the door. "We should go inside."

Hayun nodded, a smile lingering still as she followed Jisung towards the door. He held it open for her and they both stepped into the warmth of the building.
