"Ryder, can you come downstairs for a moment?" my mother shouted from downstairs. She and I were on speaking terms on certain days. I think I might have actually been getting through to her. Each day I made sure to talk about Ian at some point, reaffirming my feelings for him. I thought maybe if she heard it enough, she'd get used to the idea of him. Hopefully.

I stopped mid step as my eyes met those of a skinny blonde standing at the foot of our staircase, next to my mom. She was pretty anyone could see that. Her golden blonde hair just touching her shoulders and her pink lips. She was probably one of the prettiest girls I had ever laid eyes on.

This made me suspicious.

"Ryder," my mother began. "I'd like to introduce you to Mrs. Tillman's niece, Nicole. She's staying next door with Mrs. Tillman for a week or two. I thought you could maybe show her around Pear Street, introduce her to some people - Maybe Ashley?"

I scoffed. Oh, she was good. This was some sort of set-up. Did my mom honestly think that if she brought the hottest girl I had ever seen that I would magically forget about Ian? It didn't work like that. Unbelievable.

"Well, Patricia and I have some shopping to do and we'll be back in two hours or so," my mother said. "You two have fun."

Before I could protest, she walked out of the house, slamming the door shut behind her. I glanced at Nicole for a second, unsure what to say.

"You can call me Nicki," she said. "Also, I know where Patricia keeps her liquor if your interested."

"Um sure," I replied following Nicki's lead. With the way my mother has been acting lately, liquor was definitely needed. Nicki led me into Patricia's house, and right into Patricia's bedroom. I raised an eyebrow as she pulled open the bottom dresser drawers. Inside were two bottles - one, vodka and the other, fireball.

Nicki pulled the fireball out and handed it to me.

"I like the way you think," I laughed as I followed her outside to Patricia's patio. I sat down on a lawn chair beside her as she opened the bottle up, taking a swig out of it, before handing it to me.

"So how did my mother get you here?" I asked placing the bottle on top of the table.

Nicki laughed. "My dad is on a business trip. He didn't want me home alone, trashing his place up with my friends. What did you think I was some punishment or something? I hope I'm not that boring."

I shook my head. "No. No. It's not like that. It's just my mom and I aren't exactly on good terms right now either. I'm kind of seeing someone she doesn't really approve of. So I think this was some sort of set-up."

Her blue eyes lit up as she tried to hold back a laugh. "A set- up? Who does that anymore? It's actually pretty funny. You're mother must really hate your girlfriend."

I took a long sip from the fireball, nodding. "Yeah. You can say that."

I wasn't really comfortable sharing my relationship with Ian to Nicki. I mean I had just met her and it wasn't something I could just casually bring up. Oh yeah, by the way, my girlfriend is actually a 30 something year old man.

I glanced next door at Ian's place. I imagine he was sitting down at his desk, a cup of coffee beside him, as he typed away on his laptop. Every so often he'd brush his hair out of his face or find himself on the New York Times website, reading articles about whatever.

I hated that I missed him so much. It was hard not being able to see him whenever I wanted.

After drinking a significant portion of that fireball, Nicki filled it back up with water so Tillman wouldn't suspect anyone had drank out it. I mean it was a stupid idea, but we were drunk and it was the best we could do. The color had changed, but Tillman would have to be really looking at it to notice.

"What to do next?" Nicki asked glancing around Pear street. "What do you do for fun around here, Ryder?"

"Swim and hike," I shrugged. 'There's not much to do."

"Lame," she retorted, smirking at me. "I guess I'll have to think of something fun. Got it. Follow me, Ry."

I raised an eyebrow as she walked down towards the end of the street. I had no clue what she was up to. That is until she grabbed me and made me duck behind a tree. She told me to stay undercover as she ran up to a random person's yard, rang the doorbell and ran back.

"Ding dong ditch," I asked after he returned back to the tree. "That's your idea."

"It's the best I could come up with under the circumstances," she huffed, out of breath. "You can do the next one. Let's see who can get the most houses. And How about we make this interesting? Hmm.. I know! Loser has to streak down the street and back."

Before I could even agree, she grabbed my hand, and shook it firmly. I guess the bet was on. I quickly stood up from my spot and ran towards the other houses. I could win this. I was definitely faster than Nicki. There was no way I was streaking down Pear Street. That's all my mother needed was for me to be caught nude running around the neighborhood. I would never be able to see Ian again.Hell, I don't even think Ian would approve of me streaking either.

After hitting majority of the houses in the neighborhood, I met Nicki back at Tillman's place, with the sweet smile of victory on my face. I smirked as she shook her head at me.

"How many did you get?" she asked standing up from the grass. I held all my fingers up.

"10, you?" I replied.

"Damnit! I only had 8," Nicki groaned. "Fuck. Damn you're fast."

I grinned. "Look you don't have to streak if you don't want to. This was actually really fun, probably the most fun I've had in a while."

Nicki shook her head. "Nope. A deal is a deal, Ryder. I stick to my bets."

I bit my lip as she pulled her shirt over her head, tossing it to the ground. I could feel a lump form in my throat as she unbuttoned her jeans, sliding them slowly down her legs, so she was left in a white bra and pink panties. Just as she gripped her panties, I stopped her.

"You don't have to get completely naked," I spoke up. "Bra and underwear are just fine."

"I never said I was going naked, pervert," she retorted, winking at me. I rolled my eyes as she ran as fast as she could down the street. I laughed as she got caught in someone's sprinkler. She was absolutely insane. When she came back, she was partially dry, but mostly still wet. I tried to keep my eyes at her face out of respect, but I would find my eyes wandering every so often on her breasts that were now completely visible.

She picked her shirt up off of the ground, sliding it over her head. Thank god, she was putting her clothes back on. I hadn't gotten laid in a while, and standing a few feet away from an attractive half-naked girl wasn't really helping that situation.

"I think one of your neighbors might have whistled at me," Nicki chuckled as she slid her jeans back up.

"I'm not surprised," I laughed. "There's a lot of sexually deprived husbands in this neighborhood."

"And boys too," Nicki winked, suggestively. I scoffed.

"Well I should be getting home," I replied glancing up at the sky. The sun was setting, and it would be dark soon. I'm sure my mother would be expecting me.

"Yeah, let's hang tomorrow though," Nicki insisted as I waved to her. I didn't want to make any more mistakes. The last thing I needed was to slip up and make a move on Nicki. That would make my mother happy, but I couldn't cheat on Ian. He had forgiven me the first time, but I don't think he'd be so lenient the second time around.

When I got back home, my mother wanted to know what I thought of Nicki. Did I have a good time? Did I think she was pretty? I answered the questions with as few words as possible. She was nice. We had fun. I didn't want her thinking that Nicki was changing me or something. I mean I've always been attracted to girls. Nicki was hot, but I knew better than to screw up what I had with Ian for a summer fling with a girl that I would probably never see again.

For the next couple of days, Nicki and I did hang out. It was only because it was the only way I could get out of the house, and be away from my mother. Plus, Nicki was fun, and what I really needed was a friend. Ashley was my friend, but she had gotten really busy. I had barely seen her all summer.

On the day of my 22nd birthday, my mother took me out for dinner and invited Nicki, and Patricia. For the most part, my birthday dinner was uneventful. Mainly because my mother's boyfriend and Patricia's now husband, dominated most of the conversation. All I could think about was how much I wanted to see Ian. I hadn't spoken to him in a few days, but he knew the reason why.

That evening, Nicki and I hung out in her backyard.

"So how does it feel to be 22," Nicki asked as she flicked her blonde hair out of her face. I shrugged.

"Doesn't feel any different," I retorted my eyes glancing over to Ian's place. Nicki nodded.

"Yeah I'm sure you wish you could be with your hot older boyfriend right now, huh?" Nicki asked catching me off guard. I jerked up, my eyes on her.

"How did you?" I asked my voice trailing off.

"Patricia told me," Nicki said her blue eyes lighting up. "Don't worry I'm not offended that you didn't tell me. I think it's kind of hot actually. I've seen Mr. Neighbor a couple of times. He's quite the catch."

I nodded. "Yeah."

Nicki shoved me. "So why don't you go over there? I know that's what you want to do, right? Go see him. Spend what's left of your 22nd birthday with him. I'll cover for you. I'll tell your mom, you're spending the night here. She'll love that, won't she?"

I laughed, hesitantly. "I don't know."

"Go," Nicki huffed pulling me from out of the lawn chair. "Right now! I demand you."

I muttered a quick thanks as I walked over towards Ian's side of the fence, climbing over it in two quick motions. Nicki gave me the thumbs up, as I landed on Ian's grass. I stood up quickly, brushing myself off, as I walked towards Ian's back door. His lights were off, and the door was locked. He never locked his back door.

I sighed as I knocked on it. I stood outside for a minute or two, before the door opened up. Ian was standing in his boxers, water dripping from his hair. He must have been showering.

"Hi," Ian said breaking the silence between us. I was too focused on his half-nakedness to even reply. God, I really needed to get it together. But I guess it was a good thing that Ian could keep me interested like this.

"I wasn't expecting you," Ian said as I walked inside. He closed the door behind me, locking it shut.

"Well I missed you," I replied leaning into kiss him. Ian stood there stiffly, not reciprocating at all. Was he mad at me? Maybe it was because I hadn't been over in a few days.

"And it's my birthday," I continued as Ian folded his arms across his chest.

"I didn't forget," he replied nonchalantly. "I just didn't expect you to come by considering everything with your mother."

He was definitely mad. I could tell by his voice and his entire demeanor. I ran my fingers through my hair, nervously. "I'm sorry. I wanted to call you, but she took my phone. She's been monitoring every move I make, Ian. It doesn't look like I've been doing much for us, but I'm really trying."

Ian let out a laugh. "You've been really trying. Yeah, I can see that."

I chewed on my lower lip, narrowing my eyes at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Ian shook his head, tracing his tongue across his teeth. "Don't think I haven't seen you hanging out with that girl, Ryder? I work from my home."

"Oh Nicole," I replied quickly. "She's just a friend, Ian. She's Patricia's niece and she's the only person my mother has been letting me see. She's the reason why I'm here now. She's covering for me."

"Oh really?" Ian snorted. "And I'm supposed to believe you're not interested in her at all."

"Yeah," I replied quickly. "Because you're my boyfriend, Ian, and you're supposed to trust me."

Ian glanced down at the ground. "You haven't exactly given me a reason to trust you, Ryder."

I couldn't believe he had said that. I screwed up once. One time and I'm forever a cheater. All I wanted to do was spend time with Ian on my birthday, but now it seemed like that this had been a bad idea. Maybe I shouldn't have come over at all.

"So that's how it is?" I asked shoving my hands into my pocket. "Well then maybe it was a mistake coming here. Maybe I should have just spent my entire birthday with my mother and her boyfriend. Clearly, my boyfriend doesn't trust me nor does he want to spend my own birthday with me. You know what, Ian, I'll just go home."

Ian grabbed my arm just as I was about to leave. "I don't want you to leave, Ryder. Look I'm sorry - I'm just a little fed up. Do you blame me?"

"It's not my fault," I argued jerking my hand from him. "I didn't put a note in my mailbox telling my mother about our relationship. I could kill whoever did."

Ian's face changed as soon as he heard about the note. Did he know something?

"A note? Someone left a note in your mailbox? That's how your mother found out," Ian asked for clarification.

I nodded. "Yes a concerned citizen told her."

Ian swore underneath his breath. "Who the hell would do something like that? Hmm? It's probably your ex-boyfriend."

I rolled my eyes. "Maybe it was your ex."

Ian grinned at me. "I wouldn't doubt it."

He rested his hands on my shoulder, his hazel green eyes finding their way onto mine. He leaned forward pressing his soft pink lips against mine, repeatedly.

"I don't want to argue with you, Ryder," Ian replied in between kisses, his hands falling to my waist. "I was just jealous. I just want to spend time with you."

"I'm here now," I said as Ian crushed his lips back against mine. I ran my fingers down his back as he moved down my chin, and my neck, leaving a trail of kisses. I let out a soft groan as he unbuttoned my shirt, alternating between biting and sucking.

Thoughts of my mother and Alan completely disappeared as he traced his rough hands down my chest, firmly gripping my waist. I could feel the blood racing to my groin as his lips found their way onto my nipples. He was taking his time, slowly appreciating every inch of my body, and all I could do was moan.

"Let's go upstairs," Ian whispered in my ear. I nodded, pulling my shirt completely off, as he and I walked upstairs into his bedroom. I couldn't help but stare at the curve of Ian's back. He was so attractive - Everything about him. I bit my lip as my eyes fell onto the shape of his perfect ass. And as much as I wanted Ian inside of me, I couldn't help but think about me on top of him.

But I doubt he would let me. He was adamant about not bottoming. Maybe I could convince him otherwise.

I sat in the bathroom for a few minutes. Maybe if I let him cool down a bit, he'd be a little more willing. So after five minutes of playing Candy Crush on his toilet seat, I walked upstairs. I pushed open the door to find Ian sitting on his bed.

"Come here,"he demanded. Maybe my plan hadn't worked. Ian loved having control in the bedroom. I was into it, and I thought it was hot, but for once, I'd like to be the one in control. It didn't seem like that would happen.

A smirk crept across Ian's face as I walked over towards him. He unbuckled my jeans, slowly pulling them down to my waist, so I was in my boxers. He ushered me onto his lap as he brought his lips back onto mine with more force than before. I barely had time to catch my breath.

"You just keep getting hotter and hotter," Ian commented as he laid me across his bed. I could feel the heat rush to my face as I blushed. I couldn't help it. I was like putty in his hands. Ian always knew exactly what to say, and when to say it.

"Your an asshole," I muttered as Ian grinned me.

"Someone can't take a compliment," Ian retorted sliding his hands into my boxers. I moaned as he traced his fingers across my shaft, taking his sweet time.

"Does that feel good?" Ian asked sliding his hand slowly up and down my member. I could barely speak. I closed my eyes, trying to focus on my breathing as I began to harden underneath his fingertips. I bit my lip trying to fight back the moans that desperately wanted to escape. But the more I fought it, the more attention Ian gave. I sighed as soon as he pulled my boxers completely off. His mouth traced the inside of my leg as his lips slowly made their way up my thigh and onto my now stiff member. I squirmed underneath him as his tongue traced across my length. Without warning, he took me completely inside of that warm wet mouth of his. I jerked my hips as he swirled his tongue around my very being. Moans loudly echoed from my mouth as I leaned my head back into his comforter, gripping his sheets tightly. Ian clearly liked the response he was getting. With the way his tongue was moving, there was no way I'd be able to last much longer. I swore underneath my breath as Ian's hands gripped my thighs. My breathing quickened, and my toes began to curl as I felt pressure began to build up in my groin.

"I'm going to - fuck," I muttered as I experienced the blissful sensation of release. I rested my hands on my face as I lied there for a moment in an attempt to catch my breath. Ian ran his fingers across my chest.

"Happy Birthday," Ian muttered jokingly as I glanced at him. He moved to the other side of his bed, opening his top drawer, and tossing a condom at me. I chewed on my lower lip as he slid his hands into his boxer briefs and began stroking himself.

"Ian," I said pushing myself up on my elbows. His hazel green eyes flickered to mine for a second.

"Yes, Ryder."

I bit down on my lip. "Do you mind if I -you know - It's my birthday and I'm 22 now, so I was just wondering if I could maybe be on top for once."

Ian glanced down at the ground for a second, clearly contemplating the idea.

"Come on, please," I teased. "I promise I'll be gentle."

I gave him a wink as he as he nodded his head. "Fine, Ryder. But only this once, and because it's your birthday."
