𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐀 scratched the inside of her wrist, the nerves evident in her face. a small crease sat in between her eyebrows and anyone who saw the girl, coming through the lobby, could see the nervousness from a mile away.
but nobody could see it more than the driver walking beside her out of the hotel. lando sent claudia a fleeting glance—before subtly grasping her wrist to prevent her from irritating her eczema anymore, brushing his thumb momentarily over the skin,
"what's on your mind?"
claudia's anxious eyes moved to lando's face, her heart immediately melting into a puddle at the concerned look on his face, "just a little different to what i know, that's all."
the model turned away from him before he could answer her, walking slightly faster to the car parked outside the hotel. lando maintained a similar space, trailing only the slightest behind her.
he watched as she climbed into the car sitting in the far corner without moving her eyes from her wrists, which looked a little inflamed, not sparing a glance at the two people sat across from her.
lando climbed in giving oscar and lily a small smile, as oscar sent him a questioning glance before looking away.
claudia's eyes moved from her arms to the pair in front of her, startling her a bit, which two pretended to take zero notice of. lily greeted her first giving her a warm smile, "i'm lily, claudia right?"
claudia gave her a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, but nodded nether the less opening her mouth to greet her—only to be stopped by lily speaking again, "first race? you'll love it i promise, i'll be in the paddock with you, and the garage right next door and the others will love to meet you as well."
claudia's shoulders relaxed slightly sending lily a grateful smile, her eyes shifted to oscar who gave her a small grin before speaking with a strong australian accent, "oscar. im lando's teammate."
she gave him a slight nod, "lovely to meet you both." the words were breathy almost inaudible. everyone inside could see the girl was not comfortable or sure of how to converse with them—especially the driver whose gaze was intensely staring into the side of her head.
he wanted to know why the woman who was so excited last night, spending the journey to the hotel and the journey to their respective rooms, talking about how much she was looking forward to seeing him race, seeing him do what he loved...was acting like the shell of herself, not even looking him in the eyes for longer than a fleeting minute.
lost in his thoughts—with his gaze still on the side of her head—he failed to notice and respond fast enough to her eyes falling on him, "you're gonna do great today lan, you're gonna be great the whole weekend."
he gave her the biggest grin he could muster, but it didn't quite reach his eyes, because something was different with claudia, and all he wanted was to know what was going on inside her head.

lily and oscar spared them a concerned glance at their awkward silence, before immediately going back to conversing about whatever they were talking about. leaving the pair to sit in lingering silence amongst themselves.
