'Fair skin and brown hair
A maiden so pure yet, out of reach
Like the ocean, eyes of blue
And a figure blessed by Aphrodite

Flawless smooth skin
A wild young man yet, low in status
like burnt hay, hair of dirty blonde
Portals of Hazel that sought attention

A chemistry spiraling dangerously
Kept in locks for the maiden was sought for
Engaged to another high class man
Forbidden was any step further

Yet, her smile haunted him
that red fire in her eyes set his skin ablaze
He searched her Ocean eyes
As he shook her hand wondering

There was a thrill she saw
Feelings spiked by no other man
His odd nature fascinated her more
A bite she wanted from a forbidden fruit

She saw life with him
As realistic as the art he drew
A moment of time locked in secret
A hush with light footsteps

This is would be bad and oh so scandalous
Upper class maiden tangled up
with a measly lower class artist boy
What a story for the headlines if exposed

Yet the desire sparked brighter
Yet Their hearts spoke a secret language
A language only they could ever decipher
A bite. One from a forbidden fruit cherished'

I finished reciting the poem and watched the place go silent. For a split second it was the loudest silence I've ever heard and another second it was the loudest cheering I've ever heard. I looked at Mason with the corner of my eyes and he looked at me in... Awe? No, I must not be seeing this right because it was gone as fact as it appeared

We were given an ovation for the great project and team work. If only Mrs. Brown knew what happened behind the scenes.

"Absolutely Breathtaking, Perfection!" She wiped away tears from the corner of her eyes "I've never felt such a sizzling atmosphere ever, Beautiful Amelia! You too Mason. You are both good poets and Amelia, you are an amazing reciter, your voice.." she thought for a moment "it gave emotions, feelings and life into this poem, absolutely Spectacular"

"Thank you" I and Mason said I'm unison, bowed once more and left

We arrived backstage and I watched Patricia pounce on Mason into a soul crashing hug. Ouch. I headed over to Oliver who was with the rest of the boys. They all applauded me and told me how lovely I was on stage

"Let's face it, Amelia is the best" Liam announced and they all agreed

"Thank you guys, we all did great"

"Come on Amelia, not as great as you. Did you hear that poem recitation! I'm sure you wrote that on your own, Mason could never!" Oliver assumed and he assumed right

"Like the ocean, eyes of blue
And a figure blessed by Aphrodite" Jack recited "like burnt hay, hair of dirty blonde. Portals of Hazel that sought attention" he placed his hands on his chest "these lines get me Every time!"

Until the show was over, we remained backstage. They all kept on going on and on about the poem, going as far as telling me to consider acting. They had no idea how much I suffered to get that just right. I am willing to act for a grade but not for money, I'd rather do something else to earn that.

Andrew's POV
I waited for Amelia on her window frame. She should be back home any moment. I never got to congratulate her on her performance because I knew she'd hate for me to interrupt the fun moment she had with her friends. It was good watching her interact with them and having a bit of life in her eyes.

She was already in the house and was probably getting soda and some random snack as usual. The funny thing is, I always come back and restock them when she's not around. She probably thinks her mother is the one replenishing all the soda's she has been taking. I figured she loved some flavors and decided to get them for her, that's all.

As usual, she placed her bag beside the study table and disregarded my presence. She's used to it by now

"Congratulations on your performance, you were nothing short of perfect, as you always are" I spoke and then she looked back at me

"Thank you Andrew" she smiled. Although she meant the smile, the fire behind her smile was still gone.

I'll have to bring them back when she's done with her SAT, take her round town, have some fun and the spark in her heart will be back, she'll fall in love with life and the idea of smiling all over again. The best part would be because of me.

"Have you decided which collage you want to attend?" I asked, she was choosing between three Ivy leagues but hasn't made one decision yet

"Yes, I want to go to Yale. My brother is in Harvard so I want a new atmosphere. Somewhere none of them have gone to" she spoke but didn't sound as excited as she usually would

I felt strange. I felt an emotion that resonated more clearly today. Over the past few weeks, there's been an tiny feeling I felt at the back of my throat, I didn't think much of it but now it's penetrating deeper into me.

Guilt. Guilt is what I felt. I cannot help but feel guilty for how Amelia feels. She lost that spark because of me. Because of my scheming. Surely all will be well if I restore that spark right? That should be easy once she's done with her SAT

"Andrew? You good?" She asked. I probably lost focus for a few second

"Ah, I'm good" I gave my thumbs up "you know what, when you've written your SAT and gotten that top score you're aiming for, I'll take you out on a fun adventure, my treat"

"Umm, I'm not sure my mom will.." she was trying to make up an excuse but I've already planned this beforehand

"Don't worry about that, I've already told your mom and she was absolutely fine with it so long as you are okay with it"

"Uh... Okay"

"Is that a yes?"

"Why not. I have nothing planned after. Absolutely nothing" she was drifting again. Into her thoughts. Back to where her demons haunted her and at that moment I wanted to pull her out, force her to see she belongs with me. Make her finally realize that I'm Mr right. Her Mr right.

She snapped out of her head and faced her computer focusing on the SAT prep course she had registered for. I watched her watch the screen and my heart felt pierced. There were dark circles under her eyes. Her eyes where puffier. She has been crying. Am I the monster making her go through this? It breaks me to know she was breaking inside and there is nothing I can do about it. For now.

I arrived home a few hours later and met my mom waiting for me in the living room. She invited me to sit with her which was although not new, there was a feeling about it that was off about it all

"Andrew love, how are you?" She asked. What a weird question

"I'm fine" a generic answer

"That's good, now tell me, how are you?"

"I'm..." That second question had me pause and think. How am I feeling? "I feel not fine"

"Why?"

I paused and thought once more. Mother knows I love Amelia, she helped me get closer to her with the dinner and stuff. What she didn't know was that I used that dinner for more than get close to Amelia, I used it to ruin Mason's relationship with her. Judging by the way she's looking a me, she knows something is off with me.

"Mother, I think I didn't something bad" I will have to confide in mother

"Tell me what's wrong" she urged "you've been behaving weirdly, you have a mist of guilt and sadness around you all the time. Did Amelia not reciprocate your feelings?"

"Maa," I'll have to dilute everything for mother "I love Amelia, with all my heart. She doesn't love me that way. Let's say... What if making her mine doesn't make her as happy as she ever was?"

"That's a tough thing to think about" She thought "I'll tell you one thing, how much you love her will determine how much you'll sacrifice for her"

"I love her mother, more than I love myself. She's everything"

"There you have your answers" she patted me "go up and rest, dinner will be done soon"

I didn't completely understand what mother had said but I had an idea of what she meant. Whatever it takes for me to restore the light in Amelia's eyes, I'll do it. I'll commence that plan on our outing after she's written her SAT.
