I'd always dreamed of talking face-to-face,
But opportunities never fell into place.
So this time around, I took the chance,
And asked him to meet, in advance.
I'm glad I did, for it brought me more,
Confidence more than ever before.
4 pm. Front of the school main gate.
Yes. The meeting had been fixed
Hours after school, are perfect for spending time.
His response to my question was a "yes",
I couldn't help but feel truly blessed.
Lost in the delusion that he'd be mine,
I felt like everything was perfectly aligned.
When I woke up early that morning,
I put on my perfume, without any warning.
I applied lip gloss to make my lips shine,
Hoping that he would be all mine.
Had a bright smile on face
for the whole day.
And I kept on recalling in my head
all the things that I wanted to say.
Finally, the last bell rang,
and suddenly my heart began to race.
Walked my way to the corridor blushing
"The time has come!"
Inside my head, this line was echoing.
Stood beside the main gate,
The evening was beautiful with
the cold breeze and the birds chirping.
Time passed by.
The school was almost empty.
Everyone passed by, but he never appeared.
Couldn't even get a glance of him.
Silence overtook and before I could realise my smile disappeared.
Oh. He never was interested in me.
Yet I ignored the fact and kept waiting as a fool.
Later, I heard that he left through the terminal gates.
It was expected, wasn't it? I was never of his taste.
He always avoided being near my space.
I walked back home feeling disappointed
and received a text which was not sweet,
"Sorry, I guess we shouldn't meet."
