It's been days since Asta's mother had died and Liebe had vanished, all he had was the book his mother had left. Ever since his home was destroyed, he had no choice but to wander to the village hoping he could find a place to stay. Unfortunately not too many villagers were so open to let him stay. He would even offer to help with house work or anything that could get him a place to stay, but no one would accept. Soon after days would be weeks, and then weeks would months, specifically December when it started to snow, he hasn't eaten for a long time but only scraps, he had fallen to the ground, too weak to move. He was alone, he had no one to help him. He would hope that somehow his family would come to find him, take him home and things would be back to the way they were, but there are things that could never be possible. In a turn of events, a woman in black clothing had found him. She checked to see if Asta was okay.
???: Oh my goodness, are you alright!?
He couldn't hear her properly, he could barely see. Soon after he was his vision was starting to get dark.
???: Don't worry I'll take you to the church!
He had finally lost consciousness. Soon after he had woken up, but everything was...different. The sky was bloody red with no clouds or sun while he was on top of a sea of black. He suddenly heard a screeching voice in the distance, all it said was...
???:kill...kill...
The voice continues to grow louder and louder until it stopped. A sudden wave of black ooze came burst out from the ground, forming into a giant demon. It's had a blood red eyes and a large sharp grin.
???: I... will...kill...EVERYTHING!!!
Asta felt terrified, it looked exactly like the same demon that took over Liebe and killed his mother. He tried to runaway but his body was slowly sinking into the floor, consuming him slowly.
Asta: Mom! Liebe! Somebody please, help me!
He couldn't escape, bit by bit he started to get engulfed until everything went black. Nothing, there was nothing, until he woke up for real, only this time he found himself in an unfamiliar room on top of a rugged bed. He had no idea how he got here to begin with. He remembered being out in the freezing cold tired, now he's here. Before he could understand what happened he heard quick foot steps across the room, spotting a boy with black hair and a unique looking necklace.
Asta: Uh hello...
He was startled, he didn't know what he would say. So he scampered to the door leaving Asta alone.
Asta: Oh...
Then suddenly he heard footsteps coming out the door before finally meeting the woman in black clothes.
???: Oh my goodness, you're awake. Thank the lord.
The lady dashed to hug Asta, happy for his recovery.
Asta:Um... hi. Wait are you the person who saved me?
???: Fufu, I suppose you can say that. Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lily Aquaria, I'm a sister of Hage village's church.
Asta: I'm Asta... From the forest.
Lily: Ahaha, I see... Wait, are you telling the truth?
He nods yes
Lily: How did you manage to survive at your age!?
Asta: My mom took care of me she...she...
He suddenly had realized about his mother's death, lowering his head as tears flows down from his eyes .
Lily: I see... I'm so sorry Asta...
She gently hugs Asta comforting him.
Lily: I promise. We will take care of you from now on.
Asta:... Thank you... you know. This feels kinda familiar to me.
Lily: Oh! There some kids that I like you to meet. Come out children!
The door began to slowly open to introducing three little kids, one of them was a little red headed girl younger than Asta, holding a little baby with short tan hair. Than there was young boy who was about Asta age. It was the same boy who was just recently watching over him.
Lily: Kids this is Asta. Asta, I'd like you to meet Recca, Nash, and Yuno, I'm sure you two already met. I asked him to watch over you until you woke up.
Asta: Hi, nice to meet all of you.
Yuno: H-hello.
The baby quickly looked at Asta and turned away.
Recca:...Are you a Monster?
Lily: Recca, you shouldn't say such things!
Asta: Oh, I'm pretty sure I'm not. I mean I think I'm not.
He quickly pinched his cheeks stretching it to make sure he wasn't a monster.
Recca:Hahaha, Your really funny.
As they were talking, they heard the front entrance door open.
Lily: Ah, Father Orsi has arrived, I'm sure he'd be happy for your recovery Asta.
Recca: Yeah, When he saw you. He cried then fainted.
Lily: Maybe it's best that we don't say it front of his face. It'll just lower his esteem.
Recca: Kay!
Asta: Your Yuno right, thank you for looking after me.
Yuno quickly scampered behind Sister Lily.
Lily: I'm sorry Asta, it's not you, Yuno is very shy around people.
Asta:...oh...
They were then greeted by a man in black robe, carrying bags of groceries.
Lily, Recca, & Yuno: Welcome home Father Orsi.
Orsi: Thank you everyone, could you all help me with the-*gasp*
He quickly dropped the groceries in shock.
Orsi: Your finally awake thank goodness!
The priest quickly Grabbed Asta in his arms squeezing him in a tight hug.
Orsi: Thank the lord you're alright.
Lily: Um father, you hugging him too tight, he's suffocating.
Orsi: Oops, I'm terribly sorry. I am Father Orsi Orfai, I'm a priest of the church.
Asta: Hi... I'm Asta. I'm from the forest.
Orsi: Pardon me?
Lily: E-excuse us for a moment Asta. Father may speak with you?
The two left to speak outside the room.
Lily: Father, when he said he was from the forest... He wasn't lying.
Orsi: What! How can that be? The person that lives in the forest is... Oh no. What happened to her?
Lily: From his reaction, I believe she had passed away.
Orsi: Oh no, that's awful.
Lily: Father, Did you know his mother?
Orsi: We weren't acquainted, but she use to be a resident of the village. Until her curse.
Lily: Her curse?
Orsi: If people were get near her, they'd lose their mana, and they'd end up dead.
Lily: My goodness!
Orsi: Yes, she was kind women, but because of her curse she had no choice but to leave the village. It's truly tragic.
Lily: Poor Asta, and that poor woman. We will take him in right?
Orsi: Of course! No matter what relation that boy has he is still a child, and we will take care of any orphans.
Lily: Yes I fully agree, but if the villagers were to find out.
Orsi: Don't worry, I'll make sure that no one will find out Asta's past.
Lily: I hope you're right.
Meanwhile with the children.
Recca: Hey Asta, are you really from the forest?
Asta: Uh-huh, I was born in the forest actually.
Recca: Really? You must've been all alone.
Asta: No, I wasn't alone, I had my mom and brother before... They were gone.
Recca: I'm sorry, but don't worry you have me, Yuno, Sister Lily, Father Orsi, and baby Nash, right Yuno.
Yuno: Um y-yeah.
Recca: Right Nash?
Nash starts to giggle.
Recca: Nash agrees. So don't worry Asta you're not going to be alone anymore.
Asta: Thank you, I appreciate that.
They were interrupted by the sister and the priest.
Lily: Alright, Asta from now on you will be under our care.
Orsi: However it's much more safe for you to stay in the church than to go to the village.
Recca: How come, you can't keep forest boys locked up!
Asta: You can't?
Yuno: I'm not so sure that's true.
Orsi: Well in any case, It's best for you to stay here, the villagers aren't very fond of people outside the village.
Asta: Alright I'll stay in the church.
They then heard a loud grumbling noise coming from Asta stomach.
Asta:...oops...
Lily: Oh, I almost forgot, you haven't eaten for a while haven't you? Don't worry we'll make a meal for you, Yuno could you show Asta to bathroom.
Yuno:O-okay, follow me Asta.
Asta: Alright lead the way.
He soon follows Yuno to bathroom to wash up.
Asta: So how long have you been in the orphanage?
Yuno: Ever since I could remember really.
Asta: So you were basically born here?
Yuno: Well...
Recca: Hey would you two hurry up, the food's gonna get cold!
Yuno: We're coming. We should probably hurry, f-follow me please.
The duo quickly left to the living room table and eve sat down to eat their meals.
Asta: Woah! What's it's this, it looks and smells so good!
Lily: Thank you Asta, it's called pop potatoes.
Orsi: It's What Hage village is best known for.
Recca: And it's because it's the only thing we have in the village!
Orsi: W-well yes... B-But soon we'll be known for something other than that. Something even better, right Yuno?
Yuno: father please.
Asta: Huh?
Orsi: You see, Yuno is extremely talented when it comes to magic.
Asta: Oh really? You must be super talented Yuno!
Yuno: w-well...
Orsi: Why of course! Of every other child, Yuno has the most mana.
Lily: Now Father, there are other children are just as great as Yuno, like Asta. Now Asta what kind of magic do you have?
Asta: I don't actually have magic.
The moment he said that, stunned everyone
Orsi: What did you say?
Asta: I don't have magic.
Lily: You mean you none at all?
He shakes his head no.
Recca: How is that possible?
Asta: I was just born that way really.
Both Lily and Orsi stare at each other with concern.
Asta: It's not that big of a deal, I've been used to not using any magic. I've been training my muscles! Besides it never really bothered me.
Lily: hehe I see ( well I'm glad he see the bright side of things, actually he sees things a bit too bright its quite concerning)
Yuno: How could you say that! Don't people bully you for that!?
Asta: Well I never really met other people other than my family and you guys. Well except for these three boys, when I told them I had no magic they started to laugh.
Yuno: And that doesn't bother you!?
Asta: No not really. But I can't let a few words get to me, not until I become the Wizard King.
Yuno: How can you become Wizard King, you have nothing not even magic!
Lily: Yuno!
Yuno quickly ran away to the bed room. Leaving everyone in an awkward silence.
Lily: I'm terribly sorry Asta, it's rare for Yuno to act like that.
Asta:(Yuno)
After they had finished their meal, the children went to the bed room as the adults went to clean up. The children went to bed and gone to sleep. Well all of them except for Asta. He would have slept if it hadn't been for that nightmare. So he watched outside watching the moon, how he was quickly caught by the someone he didn't expect.
Yuno: Asta? Why are still awake?
Asta: Oh hey Yuno. Sorry did I wake you?
Yuno: No I just couldn't sleep.
Asta: Yeah, me too.
The two boys watched the moon in awkward silence.
Yuno: Hey, about what happened at dinner. I'm sorry that I said those things, I didn't really mean it.
Asta: Don't worry it's fine, it's in the past now.
Yuno: W-why !? Shouldn't you be upset from what I said!?
Asta: Nope like I said, I can't let words bother me not until I become wizard king.
Yuno: How do you do that? How do you not let anything bother you?
Asta: If I let a few words get to me what kind of king would that make me, I want to be a king where ever can trust and rely on, where no one would scared of anything not especially from each other.
Yuno: That sounds great, but how do you plan on being wizard king without magic?
Asta: I'll train my butt off every day, that will make up for me not having magic!
Yuno: I'm really jealous of you Asta, I'm scared of everything and I always at cry every little thing.
Asta: You don't have to be like me, you can become brave on your own.
Yuno: You really mean it, you think I can be brave?
Asta: Yeah! You can be brave if you try hard enough!
Yuno: T-thank you. For thinking I can be brave. And I hope that I can be brave too.
Asta: I know you will!
Yuno: I'm glad we met you Asta, and I'm glad you're apart of this family. I know we can't replace your family but I hope we can take care of each other like a family.
Asta looked at Yuno with joy, he knows he can never get his family back but at least he'll no longer be alone.
