Ash:Hey! We're here [said Ash as he, Green,Lexus, Misty and Brock exited the forest]
Narrator:After earning a pair of soul badge's at the Fuchsia Gym, our friends arrive at the Safari Zone, where they're sure to discover some new and unusual Pokémon.
Green:I wonder what kind of Pokémon there is at the Safari Zone.
Lexus:Hopefully something good to boost up my team.
Fern:Ivysaur [Said fern]
[Suddenly, the ground starts shaking underneath them]
Misty:Hey, it feels like an earthquake!
Brock:Look out! Over there! [He said as a cloud of dust rose in the distance] Uh, what is it? [asked Ash. In the distance, a herd of Tauros mooed and grunted as they ran together].
Pikachu:Pika! Pi! [said a scared Pikachu]
Ash:Oh, man.
Green:How big is that herd?
Ash:What are those things?
Both:Pika! Ivy! [said Pikachu and Fern]
Lexus:I recognize this sound anywhere. It's a herd of Tauros y'all! [Ash takes out his Pokedex]
Ash Pokedex:Tauros. A wild bull Pokémon. When whipping itself with its three tails, its tackle is a powerful destructive force.
Ash:Yes. Okay, Pikachu [said Ash, then looked over his shoulder] Hmm? Huh? [On the ground, Pikachu was in his bed, fast asleep]
Fern:Iv...Saur [said Fern, gently poking the mouse]
Ash:Hey, Pikachu.
Brock:Nice time for a nap.
Misty:Don't you think Pikachu's outnumbered here?
Green:Plus, don't you think Pikachu will get trampled by Tauros?
Lexus:Plus they're bigger and can tank a lot of hits unlike pikachu ash trust me it's better let this go.
Ash:I know that. Butterfree, I choose you! [He said releasing his butterfree from it's Pokeball]
Butterfree:Free! [said Butterfree]
Ash:Air slash Attack, now!
Butterfree:Free! [Charmander said as it gets ready to attack when suddenly a dog like Pokémon belly flops and sits on Charmander.
???:Growl! [howled the Pokémon as Charmander grunted].
Ash:Whats that thing?
Ash Pokedex:Growlithe. A puppy Pokémon of pleasant demeanor and great diligence. It drives enemies away with its barks and bites.
Ash: Growlithe? All right, Butterfree, Air slash attack!
Butterfree:Free! Free! [shouted Butterfree]
Growlithe:Growl! [said Growlithe as both Pokémon aimed their attacks at each other as they clashed Growlithe using flamethrower]
Ash:So it's a fire type too [said Ash. Recalling butterfree] hmm, Maybe Squirtle.
????:Hold it [said a girl, riding a horse Pokémon as the Pokémon raised its front legs up, scaring Ash.]
Ash:Whoa! [said Ash, falling to the ground, knocking Green back]
Green:Ow! Get off me! [said Green, failing his arms]
Ash:Hey, what are you doing? [asked Ash as Misty helps pull out a failing Green from underneath him]
?????:You little sidewinder, don't tell me you don't know this whole area is a Pokémon preserve.
Ash:A Pokémon preserve?
????:Yes.
Lexus:Whats that?
?????:It's a place where it's against the law to capture Pokémon so they can grow up here naturally.
Ash:That's amazing.
Lexus:That's awesome.
Brock:You grew up right pretty yourself, miss,what's the name of this here place?"
????:Have you ever heard of the Big P. Pokémon Ranch that's owned by the Laramie Family?
Brock:Isn't that the place where they raise lots of Pokémon in the wild?
Green:Hey! This must be that place.
Lara:This is the Laramie Big P. Ranch, and I'm Lara Laramie [She said , introducing herself]
Growlithe:Growlithe! [said Growlithe, joining her]
Lara:And this Growlithe makes sure nobody tries to capture our Pokémon.
Trio:Oh [said Lexus, Misty and Brock]
Pikachu:Pikachu [said Pikachu]
Fern:Ivysaur [said Fern. Once further on the ranch, Ash pulls out Dexter as he and the others were on the fence]
Ash Pokedex:Ponyta. A Fire Horse Pokémon. Its mane is made of intense flames.
Ash:Whoa.
Pikachu:Pika [said Pikachu]
Misty:Isn't it real hot?
Lara:I don't need to worry because Ponyta will never, ever burn anybody it really trusts.
Green:Cool [said Green in awe, then stood to the side of Ponyta]
Lexus:I bet Ponyta is the fastest Pokémon on the ranch, other than your Growlithe I mean.
Ash:Hmm [said Ash as he hopped off the fence and reaches out to pet Ponyta] Nice Ponyta.
[Ponyta's mane intensified, burning Ash's hand, causing him to scream as Squirtle cools Ash's hand].
Green:Sorry about that ponyta he means well he just very eager sometimes.
Lara:It's okay [said Lara, giggling] It took a while for Ponyta to trust me too.
Misty:Just training one Pokémon's a big job, but a whole herd must be really tough.
Brock:Breeders love Pokémon from the Laramie ranch. Because they're raised in the wild, and they're a little stronger than other Pokémon. You're lucky if you get a Big P. Pokémon.
[Chuckles] Lara:I'm real glad some folks know about all the hard work we do [She said, beaming at Brock] We're real proud of the way we raise our Pokémon here.
Misty:I'd love to see more of this place.
Lexus:Me, too!
Green:Me,three!
Lara:Well, we're having our big party here tonight. Why don't you all come as my guests?
Both:Really? Ivysaur? [asked Green and Fern, looking at each other before looking back at Lara]
Ash:A party? That sounds great!
Pikachu:Pika! Pika! [said Pikachu]
Lara:And if you stay here at the ranch tonight, you'll be able to see the big Pokémon race tomorrow [She said to the quintet]
Both:A Pokémon race? [asked Ash and Green]
Lara:We race one another to find out who's got the best Pokémon. Anyone who wins the Big P. Pokémon race becomes an honorary member of the Laramie clan. Huh?
[Soon enough, the ground starts rumbling again]
Misty:The Tauros again? Lara:No. That sound could only be.... [said Lara as dust was seen and a herd of Pokémon ran past them]
Ash:Oh, man. They move fast.
????:Howdy, Lara [said a boy, sitting on the Pokémon's back]
Ash Pokedex:Dodrio. A three-headed bird Pokémon that can run faster than it can fly. Its three heads represent joy, sorrow and anger.
????We're going to win the Pokémon race tomorrow [the boy said smugly]
Lara:Don't be too sure, pardner [She said, glaring at him] It takes more than just speed to win the race.
????:Just get ready to lose, Lara. Yee-hee! [he said as his Dodrio takes off]
Misty:What a jerk! Who is that guy?
Lara:He's Dario, a Dodrio trainer. And we'll see what kind of guy he is.
[Somewhere on the ranch, the party takes place]
????:Hey, Lara, good luck in the race tomorrow. [said a food vendor] We're all going to be rooting for you."
Lara:Thank you kindly.
?????Your Ponyta's great [said a woman from the crowd]
Lara:Thank you, ma'am.
?????:Good luck, Lara [said a man in the crowd]
Lara:Appreciate it.
????:Go for it, girl! [said another man in the crowd]
Brock:She must be a real contender in that race.
Misty:Well, she sure has done a great job training that Ponyta of hers.
Lexus:I'd love to have one my Tauros race against her ponyta to see how's faster.
Green:Yeah [said Green as He and Ash take a bite of what they were eating]
Ash:We're really lucky to have run into such an incredible Pokémon breeder, aren't we?
Dario:Hey, Lara! [said Dario, running up behind the small group] All of your Tauros are going crazy back at the ranch.
Quintet:Huh? [they said as they ran back to the ranch. Lara whistles for Ponyta, who then runs up alongside her]
Lara:Hyah! Let's go! [said Lara as she and Ponyta raced to ranch with Growlithe close behind]
[Dario smirks as they head back to the ranch] Lara:Hey. What...? [Lara asked as she watches her herd of Tauros fighting each other] Growlithe, get in there and settle them down.
Growlithe:Growlithe [said Growlithe, jumping over the fence],Growlithe. Growlithe. Growlithe.
[As Growlithe runs around the Tauros, the herd starts to calm down and the dust starts to settle]
Lara:Hmm. Whats that? [Lara asked as she and Ponyta heard something rustling in the grass when suddenly it came out and spooked Ponyta]
[Scared, Ponyta neighs as it tossed Lara off its back and onto the ground. Lara screamed in pain as she landed on her arm]
Ash:Lara! Ponyta! [Ash cried out as he and the others ran up]
Brock:Lara [said Brock as he Lexus and Misty helped her up]
Lara:I think I'm okay [she said, then screamed in pain when she moved her left arm]
Misty:Don't move that arm.
Lexus:Your definitely not ok,best not to strain yourself too much right now.
Ash:Whoa, Ponyta. Settle down! [grunted Ash as he had Ponyta's reins]
Green:Hey, Hey, Hey [said Green, petting Ponyta's body, helping his Frien calm the fire horse]
Ash:Come on. Settle down [said Ash as Ponyta struggled against the reins]Calm down, Ponyta!
[Soon enough, Ponyta calms down]
[Sighs] Ash:I wonder what happened to spook all the Pokémon.
Lara:They're good. [She whispered to herself]
[Watching from behind a brick column, Team Rocket grinned at each other] Meowth:Pretty nice work [said Meowth, grinning]
Jessie:Even better than we planned it.
James:I have a good feeling about this one [He said, feeling giddy]
Dario:Good work [He said, appearing behind Team Rocket]
Rocket Trio:Huh?
Dario:I wouldn't expect anything less from Team Rocket.
Meowth:Meowth [said Meowth]
Jessie:We're just here to do the best job possible so we can all get what we want.
James:Once Team Rocket gets with the Laramie clan, we'll make big bucks. We're going to get rich and rule the world!"
Jessie:We're going to make sure that you win that race, Dario.
Dario:Uh-huh [Ge said, nodding] If I get what I want, you get what you want.
Meowth:Right, pardner [said Meowth and the four of them started laughing]
[At her home, Lara had her arm in a sling courtesy of Lexus as finished wrapping it].
Lara:With my arm like this, I can't grip Ponyta's reins, so I won't be able to race tomorrow [She sighed]
Ash:Too bad for the Laramie clan.
Lara:Hold on. Ash, you and Green can ride Ponyta for me.
Trio:Huh?[said Misty,Brock and Lexus shocked that she asked them]
Green:I'm honored, but I've never ridden a Pokemon before I got zero experience.
Ash:Green's right. Besides, I can't do it. Ponyta will burn any rider except you.
Lara:I'm sure either one of you could do it [She said, chuckling] When I saw you trying so hard to pet Ponyta, I knew you both could do it, you two. Please give it a try.
Ash:Yeah, but.... [said Ash, hesitant about this. Both Friends looked at Ponyta, who whinnied in response]
Misty:Give it a try.
Brock:We'll help you in any way we can.
Lexus:yeah I've dealt with stubborn Pokemon before and have some experience. Trust us and give it a chance.
Pikachu:Pika. Pikachu [said Pikachu in agreement]
Fern:Vi, Ivysaur [said Fern]
Ash:Well, in that case I'll do it.
Ash:Looks like we're partners, Ponyta [said Ash as he tries to pet Ponyta, who then burns his hand again]
Misty:I guess Ponyta's not cool with this.
Pikachu:Pika [said Pikachu]
Green:Yeah, I'm not getting on [said Green as Squirtle once again uses Water Gun on Ash's hand]Good luck in tomorrow's race, Ash.
Lara:Ponyta! [Lara scolded her partner, who then neighs] Ponyta, if you win the race with a new rider, it'll prove how great you really are. Everybody'll know that you're the best of all. And that is the best praise for me. Wont you please let Ash ride you tomorrow?
[grunts]
[said Ponyta, nodding]
Lara:Remember Ponyta [She said, once they were outside. She nodded to Ash and he gets onto Ponyta] Hey, it's not hot. I did it! Yeah! [Just then, Ash kicks Ponyta in the hind leg and Ponyta takes off]Oh!
Green:There he goes [said Green, as Brock sighs]
Misty:At least he's hanging in there.
Lexus:For how long shall remain a mystery.
Pikachu:Pika [said Pikachu as Ash hangs onto Ponyta's tail. The next day, fireworks went off as the crowd cheers for the competitors]
Announcer:Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to this year's Pokémon challenge, sponsored by the Laramie clan [said the announcer. Green and Fern were sitting in the stands with Lara and Growlithe]
Announcer:Our course takes our challengers over rugged terrain to test their speed and agility [said the announcer] Whoever clears all the obstacles and crosses the finish line first is our winner. Will the Pokémon and trainers please come to the starting line now?
Lara:Good luck, guys.
Green:You got this.
Lexus:Bring on the heat ash go!
Fern:Ivysaur! [said Fern]
Ash:Huh? [said Ash] Ready to race, Ponyta?
Brock:Hey! [Brock shouted at Ash as Ponyta's flames extended towards him and Misty]
Misty:They're going to burn up the track.
Announcer:Ready.... [said the announcer as the lights on the track counted down]Go!
[Once the light turned green, they went off]
Announcer:And they're off on this exciting Pokémon challenge race. When the dust settles, we'll be able to see who's in the early lead.
Squirtle:Squirtle! [said Squirtle as it and Pikachu went through the dust]
Pikachu:Pika! [said Pikachu, riding Squirtle's back]
Announcer:Now that the contestants have left the stadium and are on the first part of the obstacle course. [The announcer said to the crowd]
Dario:Yee-ha! [said Dario as he takes the lead with his Dodrio]
Pikachu:Pika, Pika! Pi.
Announcer:And Dario riding Dodrio has pulled away from the pack. If he keeps up this blistering pace, he'll be unstoppable.
Lara:You can beat him, Ash.
Lexus:Go, Ash.
Green:You got this buddy win this!
[In the tall grass, something shiny was aimed at Tauros, hitting in its face, causing it to cry out in pain]
Announcer:And something has happened to the Tauros [He said, watching Tauros kick up in pain] It's acting like this is a rodeo.
[The next thing that happened, Tauros crashed into another Pokémon]
Announcer:Whoa! And now Nidorina is fighting mad after getting bumped by Tauros. They're ignoring their trainers and starting to battle. These Pokémon could use some strict training. They look like they're out of this race.
James:I got a bull's eye.
Jessie:Or close to it.
Announcer:The next obstacle is a 45-degree uphill climb, a test of endurance for the Pokémon and their trainers, and Dario still holds the lead.
Ash:Come on, Ponyta [Ash said as he and Ponyta rode alongside someone riding a Raticate]
Squirtle:Squirtle. Squirtle [said a tired Squirtle, panting as Pikachu helps it climb up the hill]
Announcer:Bringing up the rear are Pikachu and Squirtle, but slow and steady may not be enough to win this race [the announcer said as he then looks at everyone going downhill]Whoa! Who is that barreling down that steep slope?
Ash:What? [asked a shocked Ash]
Dario:He's fast.
Announcer:That's Electrode using its perfectly round body to gain speed and take the lead on the downhill.
[Suddenly the trainer and his Electrode rolled into a hole as Team Rocket cackled behind a rock]
Announcer:Oh, and it's another accident [said the announcer as they went around the hole] Electrode has fallen into a hole, and Dodrio once again takes over the lead.
[Just then, Electrode starts to turn red] Announcer:Oh no! Electrode's voltage level is too high! [He said and Electrode explodes, causing Ash and Ponyta to be pushed forward by the blast]
Ash:Ah! [He shouted]
Both:Ash! [shouted Lara and Green]
Announcer:What a shock. Electrode's most powerful attack. Explosion. Its destroyed everything around. Electrode's living up to its bomb ball nickname.
[Out on the course, Ash and Ponyta were on the ground, covered in bruises]
Meowth:Another one bites the dust [said Meowth as the three laughed]
Pikachu:Pikachu [said Pikachu as he and Squirtle came up to Ash and Ponyta]Pikachu!"
[Pikachu shocks Ash and Ponyta, giving them a jolt]
Meowth:Oh, no! [said Meowth, witnessing what happened]
Announcer:They're back up.
Green:Go, Pikachu!
Fern:Ivysaur! [said Fern]
Lexus:Alright you still got this!
Announcer:Ponyta and Lara's replacement Ash, are showing that they've really got guts.
Lara:All right.
Announcer:Now one of the most difficult sections of the course. The Pokémon have to jump from one stone to the next to cross the river.
Dario:Go! Go, Dodrio! [said Dario, as both he and Dodrio went from stone to stone. Once Onix and Rhyhorn got to the water, they looked at each other before Rhyhorn takes a jump and sinks with its trainer.
Brock:That's okay. We tried [said Brock as Onix cried]
Announcer:Ah! Too bad, folks [said the announcer] Rock Pokémon can't deal with water, so Onix is out of here.
Pikachu:Pika! [said Pikachu, riding on Squirtle's shell]
Announcer:And looks like surf's up for Pikachu. Squirtle and Starmie are performing like true blue water Pokémon [the announcer said to the crowd]
Misty:I'll keep on going, Brock [Misty said over her shoulder]
Pikachu:Pikachu [said Pikachu]
Announcer:Ponyta's a great jumper and crossing beautifully, with no fear of the water. It could make a comeback!
Ash:Faster! Faster! Faster! [Ash said to Ponyta]
Lara:That's it. You can do it, Ash.
Announcer:Now to boost their energy, each Pokémon can resume the race only after eating an entire bowl of food. The Pokémon decide which bowl to eat."
Dario:Ah! [said Dario as Dodrio's three heads start to fight over the food]Oh, quit fighting! You'll all get your fair share.
Announcer:Looks like each one of Dodrio's heads wants to eat first, and a fight's broken out! The fastest runner is losing valuable time here as Starmie, Squirtle and Ponyta appear on the scene.
Ash:Okay, Ponyta, time for some fast food.
Dario:Oh! All right, Team Rocket, time to go to work!
Misty:Ah! [said Misty as smog appeared from below]
Announcer:We've got a major problem here, folks." [he watches the scene unfold] Black smoke is blowing over the course. I hope our camera crew can get our picture back soon and show us if there's been another accident out there.
Lara:Ponyta.
Green:Ash, Misty, Pikachu.
Lexus:I hope they'll be ok.
"Prepare for trouble."
"Make it double."
Ash:It's Team Rocket [He said, looking up]
"To protect the world from devastation..."
"To untie all peoples within our nation...."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love..."
"To extend our reach to the stars above..."
"Jessie."
"James."
Jessie:Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.
James:Surrender now or prepare to fight.
Meowth:Meowth! That's right!
Misty:We don't have time to play around with you three stooges!
Jessie:How dare you compare us to the.... [shouted Jessie, before regaining composure] I mean, come on up. I'd like to have a word with you.
James:Yes, come on up and bring your Ponyta with you.
Meowth:Then I can mess you up again.
Ash:Mess you up again'? [asked Ash, confused before realizing what Meowth meant] So it was Team Rocket!
Misty:It was you who broke Lara's arm.
Jessie:It was such a sad accident [said Jessie, wiping her eyes]
James:We couldn't sleep after it happened.
Ash:Save your tears! Pikachu, Squirtle, get ready to rumble.
Squirtle:Squirtle! [said Squirtle, as it and Pikachu stopped eating, ready to fight Team Rocket]
Jessie:This race is over for you, losers. Arbok, Glare attack!
Both:Squirtle! Pika! [shouted Squirtle and Pikachu, terrified by Arbok]
Misty:Let's go, Starmie! [shouted Misty as Starmie starts spinning]
James:Weezing, sludge attack now! [shouted James and Weezing sludges Starmie]
Misty:You okay, Starmie? [Misty asked as it tries to get the sludge off]
Jessie:I think we're winning.
James:I think you're right [said James. Just then, Ponyta gets anxious]
Ash:Whoa! [said Ash] Settle down, Ponyta. Hey, calm down!
Jessie:Dario. Now's your chance.
Dario:Thanks, Jessie. Go, Dodrio [he said and takes off in the lead again]
Ash:Team Rocket's working for Dario [said Ash as Dario ran past him and Ponyta]
Misty:Ash! Forget about them [said Misty, getting his attention] You have to win this race for Lara Laramie. Go catch up with Dario, and we'll take care of Team Rocket.
Ash:But...But I.... [stammered Ash]
Pikachu:Pika! [shouted Pikachu]
Jessie:Stop Ponyta with your Poison Sting! [Jessie ordered Arbok]
Arbok:Ar [said Arbok]
Ash:Ah! [screamed Ash when Ponyta neighs loudly, raising its fire to protect Ash and itself]
"Arbok!" screamed Arbok as Weezing appeared in front of it.
"Oh no! Don't use the gas." said James but it was too late. Weezing used its attack and fire quickly came running towards Team Rocket, causing an explosion.
Jessie:Things seemed to be going so well for us this time.
James:Maybe we'll have better luck next time.
Meowth:Now we're blasting off again.
"Yes." said the announcer. "Now we've got our picture back and Dodrio is still in the lead. Now let's take a look at what happened to the other Pokémon and I can't see any....Wait. Who's that? It's a giant burning flame!"
Ash:Faster, Ponyta. We're way behind.
Announcer:It's Ponyta! I don't know how it happened, but it looks like this has become a two Pokémon race between Dodrio and Ponyta, with nothing left but a flat out run to the finish line. And Dodrio has entered the stadium, still in the lead.
Dario:I'm going to win this one! [said Dario, cackling as he gets closer to the finish line. The crowd cheered and applauded as Ash and Ponyta caught up with Dario]Huh? How'd he get so close? [He asked as he looked over his shoulder]
Announcer:Now Ponyta's closing in on Dodrio.
Ash:Okay, Ponyta, let's beat him [said Ash as they were neck and neck with Dario]
Announcer:Now these two powerful Pokémon are trading the lead.
Dario:Do it, Dodrio [said Dario and one of the heads poked Ponyta in the face]
"Ah!" said Ash as Ponyta falls back.
Both:No! Ivy! [shouted Green and Fern]
Lexus:Why that good for nothing lousy vermin!
Announcer:Something's happened. Ponyta is falling behind [the announcer tells the crowd]
Ash:That was a cheap shot, Dario [shouted Ash]
Dario:I do what I have to, to win.
Announcer:Dodrio is closing in on the finish line [said the announcer. Out of nowhere, the flame surrounding Ponyta and Ash became larger, causing Ash and Lara to gasp. A bright light glowed under Ash as Ponyta starts to evolve into a bigger horse with a horn on its head, causing Ash to scream. ]Ponyta just.... [said Ash]
Lara:Evolved into Rapidash.
Announcer:Fans, this is incredible! Ponyta has evolved into Rapidash, the fastest sprinter in the world of Pokémon.
Dario:I can't believe it [said Dario, seeing the evolution before his eyes]
Announcer:Here comes Rapidash, who has a top speed of over 100 miles an hour. And Rapidash has caught up! They're neck and neck heading for the finish line.
Dario:Come on, Dodrio.
Ash:Rapidash! [shouted Ash]
Announcer:It's down to the wire [said the announcer as both Pokémon crossed the finish line and the crowd goes wild] An incredible upset! Rapidash makes an amazing comeback to win this Pokémon challenge.
Ash:Way to go, Rapidash.
Dario:You cheater! You interfered with me!
Ash:You're the one who attacked me.
Dario:I'll show you [said Dario and Dodrio heads for Rapidash] Go get them! Huh? Oh!
[Rapidash lifts its hind legs and kicks Dario and Dodrio really hard into the air, like Team Rocket]
Announcer:Congratulations, Ponyta....I mean, Rapidash! [said the announcer as Lara join Ash and Rapidash in the winner's circle] You are this year's Pokémon challenge champion. Let's give a big hand for its trainer, Lara Laramie and for the winning rider, Ash Ketchum!
Misty:Yeah! [She cheered]
Squirtle:Squirtle! [cheered Squirtle]
Fern:Ivysaur! [cheered Fern]
Ash:Hey, congratulations, Lara [said Ash, chuckling]
Ash:Thank you, Ash [said Lara] You proved yourself to be a fantastic Pokémon trainer. Isn't that right, Rapidash?
Ash:Aw, shucks, Rapidash! [giggled Ash as Rapidash neighs and licks his face]
Green:I'm proud of you, Ash [said Green, running up to his best friend]
Ash:Thanks, Jordan [said Ash as they laughed. The sun sets behind the mountains as the Quinet leaves the ranch]
Lara:If you're looking to capture Pokémon, the Safari Zone just ahead should be perfect.
Ash:The Safari Zone? That's the perfect place for me.
Green:And don't forget me. It's been a while since I added a new Pokémon to our family.
Fern:Ivysaur [said Fern, nodding]
Lara:Hopefully I can catch a few myself.
Lara:Thanks again, Ash. You did a great job. I'm sure you'll be a great Pokémon master."
Ash:Thanks, Lara. I much obliged.
