lost in her messages with chris, alessia doesn't notice athena placing a series of rapid taps on her shoulder. startled, she turns to see athena, her best friend, wearing an excited expression. athena practically shoves her phone in alessia's face, her eyes wide with anticipation.
"what is going on?" alessia asks, furrowing her brows before realizing athena is pointing at her phone screen. she squints at the device, and as the image comes into focus, alessia's eyes widen.
the headline reads: "Proof That Alessia Flores and Future NFL Star Chris Sturniolo's Night Out Was Anything But Sour." beneath the headline are candid photos of alessia and chris leaving the restaurant, sharing a laugh, and even one where chris has playfully placed his hat on alessia's head.
alessia lets out a small laugh as she takes the phone from her friend's hand. "no fucking way." it details their night out, including the detail of her attending his game bfefore, and speculates about the nature of their relationship. "couldn't even give me 24 hours to reminisce..."
"this is genuinely the funniest thing ever," athena says with a laugh as she leans closer to alessia to look at the article again. "you guys look so good together actually."
alessia playfully roles her eyes as athena takes her phone back. she pulls out her own phone and begins typing her name in to get to the article herself. "i knew it was going to to be public but..." alessia glances up from her phone screen. "this public is so crazy."
"but look at you!" athena grins and gently pushes alessia's knee. "finally getting documented with someone of real importance!"
alessia chuckles, glancing at the photos once more. the images capture candid moments, genuine smiles, and the connection they share. it's surreal seeing their private evening displayed for the world to see.
it's not that she minds, it's just that sometimes things like this get blown out of proportion. with the way chris had already announced his feelings for her in the first place, she can just see their relationship being a lot more a conversation topic than she would like. at least this early on in the relationship.
if they even are in a relationship.
"i mean we do look pretty good together," alessia muses, her fingers gently tracing the stitching on the hat. alessia looks at her friend and smirks. "he's genuinely hotter in real life i think."
athena laughs and leans her head into alessia's lap. "and without the hat too!" athena sits back up and points at the hat that belongs to chris atop alessia's head. "him giving you his hat..." athena snickers before she can even get her comment out. "that's a body, les."
alessia laughs, throwing her head back as her cheeks heat up. "shut the fuck up." alessia shakes her head. "said it was to make sure i come back. plus i'll have you know, we didn't even kiss."
athena's jaw drops and she places both her hands on either side her face, being extra dramatic. "no way." she moves her hands to the top of her head. "chris did all that and didn't kiss you on the first date."
"well from these photos it's a good thing he didn't," alessia says as she picks her phone again and sends the link to chris. "would've been caught lacking on the first link."
athena snorts and nudges her playfully. "well, that just means the second link needs to be a secret." athena smirks. "you like him too much to let the media ruin this."
"definitely needs to be more discreet," alessia agrees with a playful smile, her fingers typing out a message to go along with the link. "i don't want this turning into a circus. aleen would literally take my life."
athena nods in agreement. "not just that, you two deserve your privacy. not every moment needs to be on display for the world."
alessia hums as she sends the message to chris, watching the bubbles immediately pop up on the screen. they did joke about what would happen when an article came out about them, but she's still curious to see how he'll react to the sudden exposure of their night out.
"right," alessia says, putting her phone down for a brief second. "got caught slipping once, but never again."
athena grins, appreciating Alessia's perspective. "you're right, les. don't let the headlines get to you. just enjoy whatever it is that is going on with chris."
with a renewed sense of assurance, alessia leans back in her chair, still wearing the hat with a newfound pride. she gazes at the bustling airport around her, the chaos of travelers and announcements fading into the background. she feels her phone buzz in her pocket and catches herself grinning as soon as she reads chris' response.

The "drivers license" singer and the football star were seen enjoying a night out in Los Angeles following Chris' game at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Septmeber 2nd. In exclusive photos obtained by E! News, Alessia and Chris shared a hug outside of Hollywood hotspot STK Steakhouse before parting ways.
As they embraced, Alessia—rocking a black top, black dress pants and doc martens—playfully kicked up her leg as he dipped her. The 20-year-old was then whisked off in her own car.
