January 2012

It didn't take long to find out which club Sylwia would go to that evening, knowing Maryse's glamorous tastes, but above all thanks to Mike. Randy didn't even have to make an effort to get him to speak in what appeared to be a casual, friendly conversation with hidden intent.

"This is the worst idea you've ever had." Cody repeated for the umpteenth time, sitting in the passenger seat as he tried to cover his face. "This is the rapid downhill slide of your divorce, my friend." Already heard also that, nothing new. "Why do we have to crush in a girls hangout that we have nothing to do with because we weren't rightly invited?"

"Are you done?" Randy asked impatiently, he couldn't stand hearing him complain anymore. "Do you think I don't know? If I don't seem to care, I don't understand why you should!"

Cody didn't reply to his words, resigned and aware that he couldn't do anything to make him change his mind. So, he wanted to go down a path he couldn't return back, so let him do; he warned but his friend did not want to listen.

Finding parking was easier than expected, and soon the two men found themselves in one of Orlando's most glamorous clubs. It wasn't the kind of place the two men were used to, but knowing Maryse, they couldn't expect otherwise. The Canadian blonde loved everything that was fashionable.

"What's the plan now?" Cody asked loudly to be heard over the loud music. "You have one, don't you?"

"Of course I do!" Randy replied, rolling his eyes. His plan was as simple and basic as it could be: make it look like a coincidence. As said, basic but realistic.

The place wasn't very crowded yet, finding the three girls was quite easy, or, better said, the two girls. A look of defeat appeared on the Apex Predator's face as he realized that Sylwia wasn't there; Cody's reaction, however, was different, happy and hopeful to be able to leave before anything could happen.

But before Cody even speak, here appeared the blonde Polish woman, who sat at the table with Maryse and Victoria; she was carrying a drink in her hand, suggesting that she was at the bar.

"Randy..." Cody called, noticing the expression on his friend's face. An expression he did not like.

Randy was almost stunned at the sight of the girl. She looked so different, but that not mean in a worse way. Her long blonde hair, which reached above her elbow, was left loose, she wasn't wearing gym clothes, obviously, but a short red dress that highlighted her long legs and sculpted physique, and she was wearing even more makeup. A real femme fatale.

He stared at her while, smiling, she spoke to the other two women, so carefree and happy: how could a man resist her? Randy himself couldn't.

"Cody." He replied, finally looking at him. "Act naturally and follow my lead."

As if I could do anything else Cody thought, but nodded the same to his friend. "I hope for you it's worthy it."

"It is." Randy said firmly. "It really is." He motioned to go and threw out the phone. "Pretend to be looking for a table, act clueless."

Following his instructions, Cody did as told, while Randy pretended to be busy with his phone. There was humor in all this, Randy was aware of it, just as he knew he was acting like a teenager for a girl being only twenty.

They 'casually' passed by the girls' table, succeeding in their aim of capturing their attention, or, at least, Maryse's.

The Canadian tugged Victoria's arm slightly and nodded towards the two men. "What are they doing here?"

"I have no idea..." The dark skinned woman replied, looking back at her friend. "Shall we call them?"

"Call who?" Sylwia asked, sitting with her back to them, she didn't understand who her friends were referring to. "Do I look too obvious if I turn around?"

Both Victoria and Maryse smirked, with the first one replying her. "You're going to find out soon, my favourite Polish!" The tall woman got up and waved an arm in the air, to get the two men's attention. "Cody! Randy!" She called.

Sylwia rolled her eyes and looked at Maryse, who was already looking at her. "The fuck..." The young blonde said, causing her friend to chuckle.

Randy and Cody turned in their direction, acting as surprised as possible. "Girls?" Cody spoke. "What a small world!" He couldn't help but comment, trying to make it sound as less sarcastic as possible. "What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here?" Victoria pointed out. "Didn't take you guys this glamorous!"

"Well..." Randy chuckled, as he and Cody approached the girls' table, standing just behind Sylwia, who did not even bother to turn around. "Cody had a date nearly with his girl, but she apparently dumped him, so here we are, trying to drink about this little love delusion."

Cody shot him a dirty glance. Was he being for real? Couldn't he come up with a better excuse?

At his explanation, Sylwia laughed. "And were you going to be the third wheel?" She couldn't help but comment, causing both Maryse and Victoria to laugh too.

"Oh, look who's here!" Randy bent down slightly so he could look at her face. "Hello little girl, didn't recognise you."

Sylwia raised an eyebrow, looking totally unaffected while sipping on her drink. "Sure you didn't." She replied.

"Mind if we sit with you girls?" Randy asked, with Maryse who gestured them to take a seat.

Cody sat next to Victoria's free seat, while Randy, of course, sat next to the Polish girl, who, even at that moment, didn't even look at him.

"Is Mike coming too?" Cody asked to Maryse, who nodded.

"He will be here soon."

"Why should he join a girls night out?" Randy couldn't help but ask. That morning, Mike did not mention he would have joined.

"Isn't what you just did?" Sylwia pointed out. "I really like your man, Maryse. He's fun and you totally look couple goals."

Maryse almost blushed at the compliment, smiling at her younger friend. "You don't know boys, but Victoria and I have a mission tonight!" She smirked. "Finding Sylwia a hot date!"

"Do you?" Cody asked, looking at Randy who clutched his jaw. "And how is it going?"

"Bad." It was the Polish girl herself who replied. "I only date European."

"But you're in America, pretty girl." Randy made her notice, placing his right arm on the back of the velvet couch, right behind the girl's shoulders. "Are you planning to be a nun here?"

At his comment, Sylwia rolled her blue eyes. "Well, this does not concern you."

"Probably it really doesn't, but I'm sure I can change your mind about that."

"Are you going to introduce me to someone, or what? I should warn you, my standards are pretty high."

"Good for you."

"Plus, Americans cannot handle Slavic women."

"I take this as a challenge then, Wodiczko."

"Get ready to loose then, Orton."

"Wow, Randy, our girl always fights back!" Victoria chuckled, blinking an eye at her younger friend. "You go, girl!"

But Randy wasn't joking, he was serious when he said he would take Sylwia's words as a challenge. He would show her that he could handle the proud, Slavic young woman that she was, making her change her mind.

He had that light in his eyes, when he looked at her, which, predictably and well known, Cody, Victoria and Maryse noticed; that light that Cody sincerely hoped would go out as soon as possible.

Mike soon joined the evening, nearly blowing the two men's 'cover', together with Victoria's boyfriend, Stuart; while Cody received a call from his girlfriend and left the club, after saying goodbye to everyone, telling Randy to be careful.

The table became increasingly noisy at times, while at others it was almost completely silent with Maryse and Victoria concentrating on their men. Sylwia felt awkward, like a third wheel, so she kept ordering drinks, what was her other option? Talk with Randy? Although she could feel his eyes stuck on her, making her feel even more awkward. If he wanted to speak, however, he would have to start the conversation.

And he did, some minutes after, when a waiter bought her another drink. "Go easy, tiger!" He said, leaning in to whisper in her ear. "When you're drunk, you might do things that you might regret the next morning."

Having him so close, and with, indeed, all the alcohol she had ingested, gave her a hot flush, but she still tried to compose herself. "I'm not drunk." She said, briefly looking at him. "I can still speak English."

At her words, Randy chuckled, moving his arm around her shoulders, knowing the other people wouldn't have noticed since they were too busy almost making out. "I must say you're lucky Cody and I came here, or else you'd be a third wheel."

"Well, the plan was men free, but changed when you guys came."  The Polish girl rolled her eyes. "They called their men when you stopped, you genius."

Now it was Randy who rolled his eyes. "Are you having fun, anyway?"

"Now not really." The blonde shook her head, playing with the rim of her glass. "But again, I'm used to party in Europe. So..."

Another chuckle by Randy. "You Europeans love to brag around, don't you?" As she shrugged in response, Randy took a deep breath. "Want to dance?"

Sylwia eyed the dance floor behind them, almost empty and, honestly, the music was terrible; dancing did not sound very appealing. Yet, if Randy asked, it probably meant to dance with him, and that, that sounded appealing, but she had to remember he had a wife. She then moved her eyes on the man beside her. "With who?"

Randy narrowed his eyebrows. He knew she was not that clueless, or at all, so was that her way to make him understand she was not interested? "With me." He replied, feeling now kinda nervous.

Once again, Sylwia looked from the dance floor to Randy and finally to the others at their table. "Should we invite them?"

That was not a no, which made Randy relax a bit. "As if they would even notice..." He pointed out, grabbing her hand and dragging her to the dance floor. "Do you like this music?"

"Of course I do not." The blonde girl couldn't hide her disgust also in her face expression. "I fucking dislike Britney Spears."

That sentence made Randy laugh. Not that far, he noticed the dj. "Which kind of music do you like?" He asked her. "Even though I doubt they know any Polish songs here."

"Some people here do not even know where Poland is." Sylwia made him notice, narrowing her eyebrows. "But, seriously, anything but this or like country music is fine."

The man nodded. "Excuse me a second." At a fast pace, Randy approached the guy, almost having to RKO him to get noticed. Once the man at the console turned his attention to him, Randy remembered the song Sylwia was singing that morning, and asked to play that. She would have liked that.

Meanwhile, Sylwia looked around, trying to not look awkward or stupid. Soon, a guy, about her age, approached her, making the blonde Pole rolling her eyes.

"May I ask why a beautiful girl is all alone on the dance floor?" The guy asked, placing a hand in her direction, as an invitation. "Mind if I ask for a dance?"

Not minding if she would have come out as rude, or a bitch, Sylwia shot him a glance, raising her left. "Do you want your nose or your teeth to be broken?" She said. "Disappear from my sight."

And she would have been ready to punch even whoever, at that moment, placed a hand on the curve of her back; only to then notice that it was just Randy. "Is he bothering you?" He asked, his eyes stuck on the boy, who, in fear, shook his head and literally ran to the other side of the club, making Randy chuckle. "But I do have to agree with that idiot on one thing."

"What is that, then?" Sylwia crossed her arms to her chest, as she turned to watch the man, her eyebrows narrowed.

"That you look beautiful." Randy said, his eyes looking straight into hers, also noticing the slight blush that was starting to form on her cheeks. So he did have an effect on her... Or probably it was just the alcohol she had that night.

At his words, the girl shrugged, waving back her long blonde hair. "Sweet of you to state the truth." She said, widening her eyes in surprise as The Pussycat Dolls' song began to play. "Now, excuse me, but this is my song and, even though i cannot go too much wild with this dress, I have to dance!"

The girl began to move to the rhythm of the music, showing off what was left of the two years spent dancing as a young girl. Randy couldn't take his eyes off her, looking at her with lust like a predator looked at its prey.

He couldn't contain himself and approached her, placing his hands on her hips, their bodies at a dangerous closeness. "Sylwia." He stated. "Do you know what you're doing?"

"Isn't it obvious?" The young girl snapped back. "Trying to have a good time!"

"What you're doing to me." The man corrected her, moving his eyes from hers to her red lips. "But I'd be a liar if I say I don't like it."

At that, Sylwia let out a nervous laugh, managing to remove his hands from her body. "I'd like to be near me too!" She said, trying to escape from that situation, because he was extremely tempting that close. "Dzięki Bogu..." She muttered when she saw Maryse, Victoria and their men approaching them. Quickly she gestured it to Randy, who composed himself, not hiding a hint of annoyance.

"We were wondering where you guys headed off!" Maryse said, circling Sylwia's shoulders and reserving her a smile. "What kind of party would have been without the most important person?"

"A shitty party." The blonde Pole replied, smirking. "But Randy was kind enough to make me have fun!" Now, unexpectedly, she blinked at his direction.

A tease. That was what she was. An enigma, also, because Randy could never decipher what she really felt; but this was just yet another thing that pushed him to pursue whatever he was doing.

She wouldn't escape him forever, Randy would sooner or later have the answers he was looking for from her, and, above all, from himself first and foremost.

Saint Luis, Missouri, 12 August 2023

Exactly a week has passed since Sylwia's return to WWE. Randy watched how she started her new role in both Raw and Smackdown; she was doing great, but it was clear from the look in her blue eyes she was not completely happy.

He really wanted to write her, but what was he supposed to do? He doubted, anyway, she would have answered any texts or calls from him. They hadn't exactly parted ways by burying the hatchet three years ago, and the only texts they sent to each other in those years were mostly good wishes for various occasions, but mostly under posts on Instagram.

That was why Randy called Cody. Once again, his friend had to act as an intermediary between him and the Polish woman. Cody and Sylwia couldn't be considered friends, just two acquaintances who worked in the same company; nothing more, nothing less. To be completely honest, Cody was not even a fan of hers, just like Sylwia did not like him at all, but they tried to keep it as civil as possible, trying to interact with each other as little as possible.

The main reason why? The answer was simple: her past with Randy himself.

Anyway, Cody managed to get the job done, reporting Randy how she was doing. She was apparently fine, but those who knew her as Randy did, knew that the woman never let her true emotions show, especially if they would make her seem weak. The Viper doubted that she was completely well, she could see it in her eyes, and it was completely normal: she had still lost her husband the year before.

Cody also reported she was bounding a lot with those Imperium boys. Randy couldn't help but feel a hint of jealousy about it, even though he knew he had no right to have any. He hadn't had it for a long time. But knowing that, in any case, the three men were already taken reassured him a little.

Like that fact stopped him back in the days. But them three were not like him. Luckily.

That day was the woman's birthday. She would have turned 32 years old, the same years as Randy when their illicit affair began. If you notice carefully, there were a couple of similarities between their respective 32 years: both had a kid at that age and both of them had been married. But not with each other.

All morning, Randy worried about whether or not to send her a birthday message; a simple thing, which they had done in those years anyway. But now everything seemed different, even though they hadn't seen each other yet.

Eventually Randy decided to write to her. Having friends who were in contact with the woman was certainly a great help for the man, who had the woman's new telephone number delivered to him. Through her Instagram profile, Randy saw how Sylwia was already celebrating with her friends and her older sister who also lived in America.

She truly looked happy in those moments, pictures.

Grabbing his phone, Randy finally send that text.

On the other side of the country, in Los Angeles, Sylwia almost had a heart attack when she read that message. She expected to receive his best wishes, but as casually and without obligation as in other years, in a stupid chat on Instagram; certainly not on her private number. Who knows who he asked.

Randy had to suppress a laugh when he received her text. Honestly, he doubted she even replied, let alone even trying to have a little conversation with him. From her 'tone' he understood that she was still angry, but much less than years ago.

Obviously I had to find a way to include my Imperium babies also here, because I love them so much.🥹🥹

And, anyway WWE rant, I'm tired of seeing always Rollins-Reigns-Rhodes-and now Punk always in a titled scene. There are a lot of other people who deserve it way more than them. Der Ring General is the perfect example.
