Recap

You sighed again before looking at the ceiling, "Great, being kidnapped and having to stay here longer to listen to a crazy story and remember horrible memories. This is the best day ever."

End of the recap.

___________

(Y/N) pov

Dazai retorted, gaining your attention, "Well, (Y/N), think of it like a vacation. You won't have to work today and the following days."

You groaned, "Can't you be more serious about this, Dazai? You forgot that once we're out, we'll have to write a report to Kunikida about our kidnapping and the events last night and endure his yelling for two hours!"

Dazai replied, "Don't be like that, (Y/N). I know you don't like paperwork, but I also know you can work pretty quickly to get it done with it if you wanted."

"I know, but still! I'm sure you'll ask me to do it in your stead while you have your sweet time," you grumbled.

"Caught red-handed," he said with a smile.

You wanted to punch him again in the face but you remembered that he still accompanied you here despite his shemes, and in a way, helping you, so you still wanted to thanks him, "You know..."

He tilted his head, "Mm?"

"I wanted to say thank you."

He looked at you confused.

You felt a mix of embarrassment and gratitude, "Come on! You know, for trying to help me earlier with them and trying to cheer me up."

He understood what you meant, "Ah, that. No worries, it's normal to help a friend in situations like this," then added, "But weren't you angry at me before for purposely faking my unconsciousness back then?"

You thought about it again, and it was true you were still angry at him, however you couldn't help but be understanding. After all, it was in his character to be sometimes a complete asshole toward people, and that was what you liked about him; he had no care in the world about what people would say about him and just did what he wanted. He could be gentle and attentive as a guardian toward the people he liked while being a complete jerk toward others. He was like a symbol of freedom to you back in your world, and that was his charm. So, you responded in a gentle tone, "Well, it's true that I'm still angry at you, but what can I do? I'm not in the position to say what you did is wrong when I myself don't know if what I do or did was right. You're you, and that fact alone will never change."

Your answer left him perplexed; he certainly didn't expect this at all. There was a little moment of silence before he spoke again in a serious tone, "You think so? Even though I could be the worst piece of shit that could ever exist?"

You knew what he was referring to, and you continued to express your opinion, "Yes, even though you could be the worst piece of shit or a complete jerk or whatever you want, it's clear you had a reason for that. We all have things we don't want others to know about us, making us do certain actions that some people will qualify as good or bad, but it's our right. Even though I still don't know what to think about myself with all that is happening, I had my reasons for what I did, like you back then." You then smiled warmly, "You can be good or bad; it doesn't change the fact it was your choice; your freedom to do it. After all, we are human, and it's our right to be who we want to be, so, nobody is better than you to tell you what is right or wrong. Because I think we all did once a bad thing among the good things we did, and that will never change."

He looked at you in the eyes without saying a word, seeing your sincerity in them. He then let out a little laugh, "Yes, you're quite right about that." After he said that, he smiled at you warmly, "You know (Y/N), you're maybe one of the few people who could say something like that, like someone I knew."

You replied, "You think so? I thought it was something normal for me to say."

Dazai's expression became more contemplative, and he spoke with a touch of nostalgia, "Well, in this world where everyone wears a mask, saying something so honest and accepting is quite rare. It's a breath of fresh air, really."

You chuckled, "Well, I guess I've always been like that, even before all this craziness happened."

"Indeed, you're quite unique," Dazai mused. "But enough about that. Let's focus on surviving this little adventure we've found ourselves in." He then smirked, "I have a feeling things are about to get even more interesting."

As you both waited for Chuuya and the man in black to deal with the "guests," you couldn't help but reflect on the bizarre turn your life had taken. The memories from Dr. Harrison's diary echoed in your mind, leaving you with more questions than answers. However, one thing was clear - you were somehow connected to this world, and the mysteries surrounding your past were beginning to unravel.

Little did you know, this was just the beginning of a journey that would test your strength, resilience, and perhaps even reveal the true nature of the abilities hidden within you.

________

Time skip

After some time you talked with Dazai, you took a nap due to the lack of sleep and energy despite your inconfortable position and the never lasting strembling of the ground, in which you gave in the face of the lack of sleepiness. Abruptly, the ground trembled even more fiercly, jolting you awake. "U-uh?" you mumbled in surprise. "Is it time to eat?" you questioned, stifling a yawn.

Dazai shrugged, "Unfortunaly, it seems it's not time yet. You should go back to sleep. By the time they finish managing their 'guests,' you will surely have recovered enough."

"You're right. I will follow your advice." With that, you prepared to drift back into slumber. However, it seemed someone wasn't on your side.

A voice echoed, "THIS IS WHERE THE BOTH OF YOU WERE!"

As you peered towards the source of the voice, you found nothing. "Uh? Am I imagining things now? I swear I heard Kunikida voice..." you pondered.

Dazai exclaimed, "Ah! Kunikida! It's been a while! How are you doing?"

Simultaneously to your surprise, the figures of a panicking Junichiro and an irated Kunikida materialized at the end of the stairs.

Kunikida glared at the both of you and began shouting, making you flinch by how angry he was, "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG WE'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOU TWO??"

Junichiro attempted to calm Kunikida, who seemed ready to unleash his frustration, "Please, Kunikida-san, keep it down! If not, we will be discovered!" he whispered.

"I know! You don't need to remind me!" Kunikida replied.

You came back to your sense and cut in the conversation, happy to see them, "Kunikida! Junichiro! It's good to see you! What are you guys doing here?"

"We're here to have some barbecue- as if we were here for that!" He grumbled.

Junichiro approached toward you, keys in hand, to free you from your restraints as he began explaning, "Ranpo and Atsushi told us they didn't see you two come back last night, specially Atsushi, was worried sick about you."

Kunikida also went to Dazai to free him with a copy of the keys from his ability and let out his frustration on him as Junichiro continued, "Worried something might have happened to both of you like last time, the President asked Ranpo to help in the research. And we discovered the scene at the amusement park along with the street from where you were kidnapped."

As Dazai and you were both free, Junichiro put all of you under his ability, making you all invisible as Kunikida finished the explanation, "Ranpo found your location and we then ended here to save both of you." He then glared at both of you "So you better have a good explanation and make me a report about all this situation when we get out of here."

You gulped, thinking ahead about the future nagging you would receive, along with your future report to do about all of it, while Dazai happily expressed himself, "Good! Now, shall we go out then?"

Dazai directed himself first toward the stairs leading toward the exit, along with the rest of you. Kunikida still grumbling, Junichiro stressed, and you, craving for the food you didn't get to eat last night.

As you ascended the stairs, you could feel the shakings intensify, announcing the fierce battle occurring. When you emerged from the underground, the outside light temporarily blinded you. Once your eyes adjusted, you found yourself in what seemed to be an abandoned building. You continued to follow your group, scanning the surroundings; it was sure this was truly a disaffected area, and quite an old one at that. You could even hear the sound of the sea along with the seagulls and smell the salty water. That would mean you're right now at the port of Yokohama, more precisely the Port Mafia territory. "Wow, what a mess is happening to me these days," you murmured to yourself, "Not even a peaceful day passes before I'm kidnapped or aggressed since my arrival here. Is it too much to ask for a break time?"

Dazai noticed your slow pace behind and slowed down naturally until he was by your side. It didn't affect or bother you much; however, Junichiro was still as surprised as Kunikida, who passed from a glare to a surprised gaze when he witnessed this strange attitude coming from Dazai, who wasn't usually like this. But both of them didn't go further in their understanding because they never could understand him anyway since they knew him.

As you moved with the others toward the exit of the building, you observed through the broken windows from where the sound and shaking were coming and witnessed something surprising, which made you stop in your course. You kneeled and looked secretly outside, and there, you saw Chuuya who was engaged in a fierce battle against Evelynn, their powers clashing violently, while not far away, you noticed two figures in the air fighting against each other; one black and the other blue, which you recognized to be Akutagawa and Atsushi. As you continued to observe, you couldn't help but remark, "Wow, what a mess there is outside here."

Dazai, who stopped and kneeled at the same time as you, looked at what you were observing before replying, "Wow, you're right. It seems they're enjoying themselves quite well. Moreover, the lady from yesterday seems to have followed them until here. She seems pretty pissed off."

You shivered and looked at him, "Yeah, but... don't you think... she is angry because of what I did to her last night with the message?"

He turned his head toward you and smiled innocently, which gave you goosebumps, "I don't know, maybe? You just left her with a message calling her an idiot after all."

You gulped, "I knew it, she sure wants to get that back at me no? I'm done then if she catches me."

"Don't worry, I'm sure our dear Chuuya will deal with her pretty soon and do the work for us."

"Then shouldn't we get out of here quickly then?" you suggested.

Before Dazai could respond, the both of you were caught by the collar and began to be forcefully dragged, "Seriously! Can't the both of you do what you're told to do?! It's already enough work for me to skip my schedule to come to save you!"

You looked up with difficulty and saw it was Kunikida, angry as hell. You laughed a little, "Sorry, sorry Kunikida. I promise I will not stop behind you and follow you diligently, so please let us go!"

"No! I'm sure the moment I do, you will again do something crazy. You're like Dazai, totally unpredictable!" he shouted.

"Tch, spotted on..." you mumbled.

Dazai ignored the fact that both of you were still being dragged and pointed out, "You forgot Atsushi and Akutagawa (Y/N); they are quite pleased to meet each other again."

You looked at him, raising an eyebrow, "You think so? It's not what I saw from my point of view; they seemed to be more like a cat and dog fighting to me."

"Well, you're quite right on that, but cats and dogs can also be on good terms sometimes if you think about it, no?"

"Maybe, but-"

Kunikida interrupted, "Couldn't you two stop your chatting for a second? We are trying here to escape without being discovered, so put your remarks for later."

You and Dazai shut your mouths as he said that, calm like a carp. Dazai then whispered at you, "It seems our dear detective is pretty angry."

You chuckled at his remark and whispered back, "You're right, what do you think he will say again if we piss him really off?"

He chuckled back, "I think I have a little idea. You see, I have quite the experience in this domain. You could even say it's my second job."

You remembered the many times they were arguing, being in the anime or when you arrived at the agency, and something made you curious, "You mean when you try to piss him off every time? Why would you do that?"

He snickered, "You see, Kunikida, above us all, has the best reactions when you tease him. Nobody peers him in this domain, believe me."

You snickered back, "Then, we should try that when we get back to the agency. You see, I have many ideas to test out on him."

Dazai's face lit up at your remark; it seemed he was very happy to have finally found someone who could truly understand his hobby to tease. He then also snickered, "I'm impatient to test them out with you then. You can count me on that."

"Stop it, you two!" Kunikida exclaimed, "I already heard what you said, and believe me, you will have not a time to test anything! You will write me a report for the event that occurred today and last night and make me both of you an excuse letter to the manager of the park, which you destroyed many structures!"

As he said that, he let the both of you go violently. You massaged your neck as you complained, "~~Please Kunikida-san, I don't want to do that when we go back~~. I prefer taking a warm shower and eat the meal I skipped last night before going to bed and then do the reports."

"She is right!" Dazai affirmed, "I don't want to do anything at all too!"

"Shut up!" Kunikida exclaimed as he knocked the both of you on the head, "You will do what is asked of you, and that's it!"

Junichiro intervened, "Guys, we have to be serious now; we're near the exit, so we will have to move secretly without a sound. Guards are still outside, and we could be discovered if we're not cautious enough."

As he said that, everyone became serious and moved silently, the tension present and lingering in the air. When you were near the door leading to outside, Junichiro made a sign for everyone to stop and informed you that there were guards just behind. Surprisingly, Dazai suggested the idea of just going as usual; a simple idea, but after all, why not? You were invisible to the eyes of your enemies, so there was no need to engage in any battle, minimizing the risks. Then, you all walked normally as anyone would, and one by one, you passed in front of the guards. Dazai and you, of course, couldn't pass up the opportunity to mess around. You tapped them on the shoulder at the same time, making them see nothing but each other. Both you and Dazai struggled to contain your laughter as the guards looked at each other in confusion, while Junichiro was panicked and Kunikida even more pissed.

You joined them and began directing yourselves toward one street nearby. However, you had to be cautious because you had to pass behind the battle that was occurring between Chuuya and Evelynn, and that would be tricky for sure, but you had to do it. All of you advanced as quickly as possible, the street drawing near. However, as you looked at the battle between the two, you flinched as you saw Chuuya kick Evelynn hard in the stomach, throwing her quickly on the ground, just at your feet, her shadow moving with black shadows jaws appearing from it, growling fiercely. Your heart skipped a beat as you looked at her angry expression, thinking you would be discovered if you made even one move. The others were too taken by surprise and didn't move an inch.

"Shit! You fucker! Can't you see I'm in a haste here?! I just came here to take back what I was supposed to bring back to my boss; so stop interfering, and let me have the girl!" She exclaimed as she threw another shadow attack.

"Ah? Your target? It was our target to begin with. Don't interfere in our work, and let you get captured, that will make things easier for us!" Chuuya retorted as he dodged the attack and threw bullets controlled by his ability at her.

"As if!" she growled back as she deflected all the bullets.

As you saw the bullets pass an inch from you, it made you come back to your senses; your heart beating fast as you thought you would not have made it if you had even moved from your place. You then heard Dazai's voice, whispering in a worried tone, "(Y/N), are you alright?"

You felt his breath on your ear, giving you shivers for a second as you murmured to him at a low enough voice so that Evelynn, in front of you, couldn't hear you, "Y-yes, I am. Thanks for worrying."

"Nice, then, let's get going."

As he said that, he grabbed your hand to move you away; however, as you were about to take a step, you stopped.

"(Y/N)? What's wrong?" Dazai murmured.

Your instinct told you that there was still something you had to do right now; you didn't know why, but your mind was telling you it was your chance to absorb the power in Evelynn's coat. You then smiled, replying in a low voice as you let go of his hand, "I still have something to do, sorry."

With that, you began to run toward Evelynn, hearing Dazai's urgent voice behind you, calling you, "(Y/N)!"

As you ran, you could feel the surroundings slowing down; everyone's movements slowing as everything became gradually gray. You slowed down to the familiar scene and stopped, smiling as if you were waiting for that phenomenon to happen. And then, the surroundings stopped in time; everything and everyone didn't move and were now colored in black and white. You looked up and then saw the familiar figure you were waiting for : Elyndor, floating mid-air, her arms crossed.

"Elyndor! What are you doing here?" You exclaimed happily.

"I'm sure you already know why." She responded sharply as she came down and marched toward you.

You flinched before gulping as you remembered you were the reason she was angry and then took a step back. "W-wait! I can explain!"

She didn't say anything; her expression still the same and continued her way toward you. As she was near, you felt panic gain you, "I know why you're angry at me, but let me explain! I didn't have a choice before when I confronted all those crazy people last night! And-"

"I know." She cut, "Since I'm your ability, I could observe all things happening to you. But!" She then knocked you on the head.

"Ouch!" you exclaimed painfully.

"It's still my job to remind you not to overdo it! You're lucky I'm thinking ahead with you now. If not, you would not be here with me," she lectured.

You retorted as you massaged where she hit, "Then, you manifested yourself just to nag me?"

"Of course not." She added, "I came here to help you in what you were about to do right now just before my arrival."

You questionned, "Why would I need your help? I was doing perfectly fine until now."

She sighed at your words, "You're really a handfull. What would you have done if I wasn't here? Let you be captured or hurt again after trying to absorb the power of this chihuahua?" She pointed at Evelynn's motionless figure as she looked right into your eyes, "It's not my job to watch you jump into problems."

"How could I possibly be noticed by Chuuya and Evelynn if I'm still invisible to their eyes thanks to Junichiro's ability? I would have succeeded eventually without your help." You affirmed, still not convinced by her.

Elyndor sighed, her stern expression softening a bit. "Do you really think relying solely on invisibility would have been foolproof? How would you have managed to touch this chihuahua's coat while she is always moving? You could have received their attacks in full force without them noticing."

You crossed your arms, still feeling a bit stubborn. "I could've handled it. I've managed to escape tricky situations before."

She shook her head. "Then, did you forget that Junichiro's ability has a certain range? You're already outside it; meaning you're no longer invisible to the eyes and would have been discovered if I didn't come right away to your help."

You glanced away, realizing she had a point. The urge to prove your independence sometimes blinded you to the genuine concern others had for you. "Fine, I get it. Thanks for saving me from a potentially embarrassing situation."

Elyndor smirked. "No need to thank me. It's my duty, after all. But before we go back to our task, I wanted to ask you something."

"Mmm?"

She hesitated a little, "Well, do you happen to remember anything about your ability?"

"If you talk about if I remember shitty parents selling me to a lunatic scientist who awoke my second ability through inhumane and horrible experiences, then yes."

"Sorry for asking you something you don't want to remember," she apologized.

"No worries, those memories are still new to me, so it doesn't affect me that much," you claimed, "So? Did that confirm something for you?" you questioned.

She looked away, "Well, a little." she then looked back at you before smiling, "Still, thank you for telling me."

You felt she was hiding something, but you didn't know what exactly. However, considering it was Elyndor you were talking about, that would certainly be something to help you in any way, and if you had even bothered asking for more precisions, she would have surely not answered as stubborn as she is. You then asked, "Is there anything you would like to ask?"

As she heard that, you could see a glint of curiosity in her eyes, "Now that you ask me that, I was wondering, when I appeared earlier, you weren't surprised to see me appear so suddenly; on the contrary, your gaze was like it was telling me you were waiting for me, was that the case?"

At her question, you emitted the innocent smile of Dazai, not replying to her. She sighed, "Seriously, you..." she then chuckled, "you seriously begin to adapt a little too well since your arrival here."

"Well, from what I've experienced since the beginning, I knew I had to adapt quickly. That's why, I knew you would come to my help if the situation would become dire for me, like back then."

__________

Elyndor pov

"It's truly nice to see you grow up so well since that event; really, it seems my efforts are working out," I murmured to myself.

___________

(Y/N) pov

Elyndor murmured something you couldn't grasp before showing you in a gesture of the hand the way to Evelynn, "Should we finish our business then?"

You flashed a calm and peaceful smile at her, "Thank you, Elyndor."

And with that, you headed toward Evelynn, time still frozen.

As you marched, you couldn't help but notice that everything was so much quiet, yet peaceful. The seagulls were frozen in the air, their wings not beating as they would. The sea didn't make a sound; the waves conserved their forms, while the sea foam didn't disappear. You also saw that Evelynn and Chuuya were locked in a heated yet frozen confrontation, completely unaware of your presence. All of this offered a fascinating and breath-catching scene that could come out of a beautiful painting, and you couldn't help but admire it.

"Say, Elyndor..." you began as you continued your march, "are you able to do that for a long time and whenever you want?"

As she marched by your side, she looked at you curiously, "Do you mean my ability to freeze time?"

You nodded.

She began to chuckle, "I see where you're getting at, my dear (Y/N), and let me tell you, to your great disappointment, that unfortunately, I cannot use it every time I want. But I understand your curiosity, and believe me, if I could use it whenever I wanted to, I would have helped you the many times you were in danger."

You sighed at her response, "It then explains why you wouldn't show up when I needed you."

She patted your hair, "Don't worry, it's not that I wouldn't, but that I couldn't."

You listened attentively to her explanation through the silence.

"If I want to appear before you, I need to activate this ability. However, I need time to reuse this power, and I have a time limit to use it. But despite that fact, I still try to use it when I can and when I consider there is a need to help. After all, you still have much to learn about your ability."

"Then what are you doing when I don't see you?" you questioned.

She responded proudly, "Even if you don't see me, I'm still with you, trying to control your monstrous energy so it doesn't go overboard and make you lose control of your powers. So don't judge too quick a book by its cover."

"I thought you would be the slacker person," you said in an assertive tone.

She knocked you again on the head, "Idiot."

You could feel the peace you desired during this moment. However, everything has an end; you were now in front of Evelynn.

You looked at Elyndor, who nodded, "Now is your chance. Absorb her power, but be quick and precise. We don't want you to pass out like before."

You nodded and cautiously reached for Evelynn's coat. Once you were in contact with it, you took a deep breath and focused on activating your absorption ability. The familiar energy transfer began, and you could feel the warmth of Evelynn's power merging with your own from your hand.

After some minutes, the last part of her power began forming a purple bat, while yours let appear the same blue butterfly from before. The powers clashed fiercely, but the butterfly could manage to absorb the bat's energy and began to shimmer with intensity as it absorbed its power flowing in it.

Once the absorption was complete, you felt a little weak, but it was less worse than before since you were not drenched in sweat and did not have a headache this time.

The butterfly began to glow brighter as before, briefly blinding you. When your vision returned, you saw it floating gently back toward you, the edges of its wings now adorned in a purple hue. As it made contact with your hand, it was absorbed into your body, causing it to disappear in a radiant blue-purple light.

Elyndor clapped her hands, "Congratulations on your second absorption," she then let out her blue screen, tapping away. "You now have two more slots for your summons. I suppose you want them for Shade and Mirage, correct?"

You nodded, "Yes, I've grown rather fond of them."

"Noted," she affirmed as she continued tapping. "Ah, I also have an update for you. It seems you've recuperated all the energy you lost and even increased it. Let me announce to you that you can now keep one summon always by your side, but it has to be of medium size. Moreover, you have the capability to summon a maximum of three, but don't overdo it; your energy is limited, and the consumption will depend on their size and power." Closing the blue screen, she grumbled, "Of course, I'm sure one day, you will again not listen to me..."

You looked away, whistling, "I don't know what you're talking about."

She sighed, "I will prepare if that were to happen, but know that you will have to bear the consequences!"

"I got it, I got it. Stop nagging; you will finish by being like Kunikida at this rate," you said in an airy tone.

She sighed, "I warned you," then pointed toward your companions. "Now go back with them. I'm sure you will have many things to do."

"Yeah, above all, I will first eat, sleep, and then work," you said as your stomach grumbled.

"Good. Let me inform you that once you're beside Dazai, Junichiro's ability will again take effect, and I will deactivate mine."

"Okay," you said calmly as you marched toward Dazai's way.

As you moved, you relished the moment, but you found it strange that you had yet to recover one of your significant memories like before. However, you chose to let it go, focusing on the anticipation of a delicious meal rather than dwelling on unpleasant memories.

Once you were near Dazai, frozen in time with a worried and alarmed expression, accompanied by his hand extended in front of him where you were previously, you decided to surprise him by hiding behind him. Successfully positioned, you signaled to Elyndor that everything was good, and she disappeared alongside her ability, gradually restoring the colors and movements of the surroundings.

Evelynn, her power now absorbed, couldn't parry Chuuya's attack and was knocked out to both her and Chuuya's surprise. It was a fortunate turn of events, with one enemy down.

The others, however, were more surprised to find you suddenly behind Dazai, who thought you were already out of reach in front of him, laughing as your surprise worked. Yet, Dazai wasn't on this side this time; he took your hand firmly and said in a harsh and serious voice as he pulled you with him to join the others, "You will explain yourself later."

Your laughter ceased as you saw his cold gaze. He was serious, and you felt it. Without uttering a word, you gulped, thinking ahead about what would happen now that you had made him angry. Silently, you let yourself get dragged, as silent as the grave, making your way with the others outside the Port Mafia territory and directing yourselves toward the agency.

And as the group exited the Port Mafia territory, you couldn't shake the weight of Dazai's stern gaze, anticipating the consequences of your actions that awaited you at the agency.
