Chapter 2: do you wanna build a snowman?

2 months later:

Anna wakes up to hear someone knocking on her door.

She opened it to find Julia in front of her door, bouncing excitedly and wearing all her winter clothes.

"Anna! Anna! It's snowing! Come and see, Anna!" Julia said as she ran excitedly to Anna's window.

Anna gasped and laughed as she noticed all of the snow that was around the castle.

"Ooh," Julie said. "Maybe we could ask Esa to come play with us!"

Anna smiled brightly as she and Julia rushed to Elsa's room.

They both giggled as they reached her door.

"Elsa?" Anna said as she knocked on her door.

"Do you wana build a snowman?" Julia shouted.

After not hearing anything for a moment, Julie knocked again.

"Elsa?" Anna asked. "Are you there?"

Elsa was still not answering.

Julie thought she was just asleep, so she started to walk away.

Anna looked at her.

"Where are you going, Julie?"

Julie turned back around

"Esa's seeping, so i don wana wake her up," she said. "But we can play in my room if you want."

Anna looked back at the door, shook her head, and knocked on it some more, this time more loudly, finally getting Elsa's attention."

"Who is it?" Elsa asked.

Anna looked at Julie before replying to Elsa.

"It's me and Julie!" Anna excitedly said. "We wanted to ask if you wanted to come build a snowman with me and Julie."

Julie groaned and Anna giggled.

"Well, I asked," she said.

It was quiet on Elsa's side before she spoke again.

"No Anna." she said "I don't wanna play with you."

Anna was quiet for a moment.

"See, Anna?" Julie asked. "Let's go play in my room-"

Anna shook Julie off and got closer to Elsa's door.

"Elsa, Please?" Anna said. "We won't play without you!!"

Julie gasped as she heard what Anna said and ran off to her room.

"Julie?" Anna shouted.

"Go away! You don wanna play wit me without Esa and i don ike it!"

Anna chased after Julie, but she just closed her door behind her.

"Julie, please!!" Anna asked. "You know I didn't mean it! I'll play with you without Elsa!"

Anna heard Julie sniffle from behind her door.

"Promise?" Julie asked.

Anna giggled. "Pinky promise!"

Julie opened her door, and when she did, she saw Anna holding out her pinky finger.

Julie giggled as she intertwined her finger with Anna's.

"You wana play together now?" Julie asked.

Anna looked back at Elsa's door.

"Can we ask her one more time?" she asked.

Julie looked at her for a moment nodding.

Anna smiled before they both ran back to Elsa's door.

While Julie was running, she saw a shadowy figure on the wall.

She stopped and looked at it, getting scared as it was getting bigger and bigger.

"um...Anna!" she said, looking at her sister.

Anna saw her looking at the wall and went to go look at it.

When she got there and looked at the wall, she giggled.

"Julie, you scaredy-cat, it's nothing here!" she said.

When Julie looked again, she saw exactly what Anna was, nothing.

"But-" Julia started.

Anna laughed again. "Come on!"

Julia looked at the wall again but just walked away.
.
.
.
4 years later
(Elsa is 12, Anna is 9, and Julia is 5)

Julie woke up early and stared at her wall. Without anyone up, she was bored, she only had her stuffed animal, Girdle, to keep her company.

Ugh!! Julie thought to herself. Why isn't anyone awake!!

When she looked at her door and saw a large shadowy figure.

She yelped as she tried to hide under her blankets.

All this time, she'd never heard anyone come into her room.

The figure chuckled.

"What? Scared of the dark?" it said.

Julie sunk deeper into her blankets as she saw the moonlight getting covered by the darkness in a crack under her blanket.

"Leave me alone!" She cried.

The figure laughed and just got louder and louder.

"You can never escape your fate, little one!" It said.

Julia started to cry as she felt someone tugging at the sleeve of her dress.

"Julie? Julie!!" A voice said, which made her cry harder.

She suddenly screamed when the blankets were yanked away from her, but when she opened her teary eyes, she noticed that it was just her older sister, Anna.

"Julie, are you okay? Why were you crying?" Anna asked.

Julie looked at the door and noticed that the sun had come up, and the figure was gone.

She then sat up and nodded.

"I'm okay Anna." She said, wiping the tears away from her face. "I just had a bad dream."

She wanted to tell Anna about the scary figure, but she knew she wouldn't believe her if she did.

"Well, I know something that'll make you happy!!" Anna said excitedly.

Julie looked at her sister confused.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked.

Anna then went to her window and drew the blinds, revealing huge mountains of snow everywhere.

Julie gasped in awe at what she saw.

"Beautiful!!" Julie exclaimed, almost forgetting the figure she saw.

Anna giggled at the sight of the snow.

"What if we ask Elsa to come play with us, she might agree this time," Anna said.

"But," Julie said, "It's been four years. You think she'd play with us after us asking for four years in a row?"

But Anna completely ignored Julie and ran out to knock on Elsa's door for the fourth time this year.

Julie groaned as she followed behind her sister.

Suddenly, behind her back, the large shadowy figure came back, this time larger than she realized.

Unfortunately for the figure, Julie left before the figure could do anything to her.

"You will accept your fate, little one."
.
.
.
Julie walked beside Anna as she knocked on Elsa's door.

"Elsa?" Anna said as she knocked on her door.

When there was no answer, Anna knocked again.

"Elsa! It's snowing!! Come play with Julie and me!"

Again, no answer.

Julie gasped softly as she felt her heart getting heavy.

"Anna, I don't feel so good," she said.

Anna just ignored her and knocked on Elsa's door again.

"Anna, I don't think Elsa's gonna answer us!" Julie yelled. "Let's just play with each other instead!"

Anna looked at her before nodding.

"Your right," she said. "Let's go outside!"

Julie laughed as Anna went to her room to get dressed.

Julia then looked at Elsa's door again and a wave of pain hit her chest and she groaned in pain.

Julie started crying as the pain became greater and greater.

Iduna walked out of her room to see her youngest daughter on the floor, crying in pain.

Iduna ran to pick up her daughter and brought her to her chest.

"Jul, sweetheart, what's wrong?" Iduna asked.

Julie sniffed as she buried her face in her mother's chest.

"I don't know, I just looked at Elsa's door and my chest started hurting," she said as another wave of pain hit her.

Iduna looked at Julie with a more worried expression as she and Julie went inside her and Agnarr's room.

"Agnarr," Iduna said as she set Julie on her bed, her face red from the crying and pain.

Agnarr looked at Julie, his face suddenly becoming concerned as he ran to his daughter's side.

"Her too?" he asked his wife.

Iduna shook her head in response.

"She doesn't feel cold," she answered.

Agnarr looked at his daughter, concerned.

When she finally opened her eyes, Agnarr watched as her eyes went from purple to black and turned back in seconds.

This made Agnarr remember what the old troll said to them before they left.
.
.
.
(flashback)

Agnarr held his daughters and wife tightly as they were getting up to leave.

The troll thought for a moment before gasping softly.

"Wait, Your Majesty!" he shouted as Agnarr and Iduna turned back to face him, with Elsa tightly holding onto Agnarr's pant leg.

"I can sense some magic in her that might cause trouble for her one day if not treated with caution," he said.

Iduna and Agnarr turned around fully at that news.

"What do you mean by that?" Iduna asked.

The troll sighed as he gestured for Agnarr to bring Julie down to him again and when he did, the troll put a hand on her head again.

"Magic," he said. "Dark magic. How did you find her?"

Agnarr and Iduna looked at each other.

"One of our servants found her washed up on shore in a basket one night," Iduna answered.

The troll examined Julie for a moment before noticing something on her hand.

"A dark Symbol. She inherits dark magic. She is no ordinary child," he said. "She is something greater than even I can understand. It won't be long until she finds out what that is."

"Dark magic?" Iduna asked. "Is it dangerous?"

The old troll shook his head.

"Not now," he said as he chuckled softly. "Since she's still a young baby, but when she grows to be a bit older, then she will become a danger. Not only to her family but to herself as well. She will experience and deal great pain."

"Do you know of any way we could stop it?" Iduna asked.

The troll shook his head again.

"Unlike Elsa, I can't interfere with dark magic, such as erasing any memories of it. It's too powerful to be messed with." He explained.

Agnarr shook his head.

"Then how are we gonna be prepared for when it does come?" He asked.

The troll sighed.

"You can't. Just hope that she can control her powers when she gets older." He said.

With all hope lost, Agnarr got up and brought Julie closer to him.

"We'll keep her with us for the time being, but we isolate her as well if her powers show up at any time." Agnarr Declared.

He then got up and he and his girls went back to their horses to go back to Arendelle.

"Papa?" Elsa asked. "Will you tell Julie about me when she's older?"

Agnarr looked at Elsa as he helped her on the horse.

"I don't think I will, Elsa." He said. "It's best if I keep you all separated for your safety."

Elsa nodded as Agnarr hopped on the horse behind her with Julie in his arms.

They all were silent on their ride back to the castle.
.
.
.
(End of Flashback)

Was this the great deal of pain he was talking about? Agnarr thought.

He looked at Julie again as she was taking deep breaths, trying to stabilize herself, but it was obvious that she was still in pain.

Julie then looked at Agnarr.

"Papa," she said between sniffles. "Why does my chest hurt so much? It doesn't feel good."

Agnarr picked up Julie and cradled her in his arms.

"I don't know, but I'm gonna find out." He said as he brought her to his bed.

When he looked into her eyes again, he saw that her eyes got black again. She winced a little.

Agnarr looked back at his wife and noticed that she was crying. He suddenly ran to her and took her in his arms to comfort her.

"My little girl is hurting and I can't do anything about it!" Iduna said through tears.

Agnarr hugged her as she cried in his chest.

Agnarr pulled away from her and looked at Julie.

"It's coming," He said to his wife.

Iduna looked at him confused.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked.

Agnarr looks back at Iduna.

"The troll said that she would experience great deals of pain as she got older. My guess is that this is what's happening to her right now. Dark magic is forming in her." He explained.

Iduna gasped.

"This soon? I thought it was gonna happen a little later. Not now!" She said.

She then walked to her daughter and rubbed her back, trying to calm her, but to little to no avail.

She was in too much pain to just fall asleep on her own.

That's when someone started knocking on their door. Agnarr opened it to see Anna in her winter clothes.

"Hey Papa!" She said. "Is Julie in here? She wanted to play with me but when I came back to get her she wasn't there."

She then went inside her parent's room and saw Julie on the bed.

"There you are, Julie!!" She said as she flopped on the bed in front of her little sister.

Julie looked at her sister and smiled weakly at her.

"Hey, Anna," she said. "I don't feel good to play today. Sorry, Anna."

Anna's face suddenly turned into a frown.

She was deep in thought for a moment until she gasped and suddenly got off the bed and ran out of the room.

A few minutes later she came back with Julie's favorite stuffed animal, Girdle.

"Does this help?" She asked as she gave the toy to her.

Julie grabbed the toy with weak arms and started stroking it, a feeling of warmth covering her as she smiled softly.

Then after a moment, the feeling of pain washed away from her as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She then carefully got up, her body still shaking from the pain she felt a bit earlier.

Iduna gasped as she looked at her daughter, she then looked at Agnarr as he looked back at her.

"Anna," he said quietly.

Then he finally got it. She could feel the deepest pain of others and could feel when others are sad, or depressed, but in a more deeper way than the person actually can. She could only release that feeling when she was in a happy environment herself.

Iduna must've got it as well because she sighed in relief.

She then got up and scooped both of her daughters up and hugged them tightly.

Agnarr smiled as he got his daughter out of their mother's embrace.

"You feel better?" Anna asked Julie.

Julie shrugged as she tried to do a baby walk. When she did that, she tried to do a bigger walk, and she was happy when she actually did that she started jumping up and down, only for her to fall on her bottom, which made her giggle a bit.

"Yep!" She said excitedly. "I feel a bit better. My heart still hurts a little bit though."

Anna smiled as she helped her sister up and on her feet.

Julie then went and hugged Agnarr, then Iduna, and then when she noticed that Anna had run out of the room, she did the same.

When she went past Elsa's door, she saw the same figure, this time with white eyes looking at her, but for Anna's sake, she decided to ignore it.

The figure growled and then disappeared.

After a few minutes, Agnarr and Iduna knocked on Elsa's door.

"Elsa, It's me and your mother, can you let us in?" Agnarr asked.

After a few minutes, Elsa's door opened and she let them step inside.

When they were inside, Elsa backed away from them.

When they looked at her wall, they noticed that a bit of the wall was covered in ice.

"Elsa!" Agnarr yelled.

Iduna put a hand on her husband's shoulder to calm him down.

"I-I'm sorry! I'm scared! I-it's getting stronger!" Elsa cried as she looked at her hands.

Agnarr took a deep breath as she stepped towards Elsa.

"Getting upset only makes it worse, Elsa. Calm down." Agnarr said.

When Elsa saw that  Agnarr was coming towards her, she quickly backed away from him.

"No! Don't touch me! Please, I don't wanna hurt you." Elsa cried.

Iduna gasped as she looked worriedly at her daughter, putting her hand on Agnarr's back.
.
.
.
6 years later
(Elsa is 18, Anna is 15, and Julie is 11)

"Do you really think we should leave Elsa, Anna, and Julia here alone?" Iduna asked her husband, who was finishing up packing their bags.

Agnarr stopped and looked at his wife and hugged her tightly as she sighed in his chest.

"Everything's gonna be alright, Iduna, we're doing this for Elsa and Julia, then when we get back, we'll tell the girls what we found. All of them." Agnarr explained softly.

Their gaze fell off of each other when they heard someone knocking on their bedroom door.

"Come in!" Agnarr said.

The door opened and Julie appeared behind it, her face filled with sadness.

"Are you two going to be okay? Do you have to go?" She asked them.

Agnarr smiled as he walked towards Julie.

"We'll be fine, Julie, and so will you and your sisters. We will only be gone for two weeks." He explained, which made Julie sadder.

"Two weeks is a long time to be away from Arendelle. Are you sure there is nothing to worry about?" She asked.

Agnarr hugged his daughter tightly.

"I promise you, we'll be fine." He said as they separated.

Julie smiled as Iduna walked to Julie and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
.
.
.
Anna was excited to see her parents go and wanted to give them a hug goodbye.

When she went past Elsa's door, she was hesitant before just walking past it.

When she saw her parents, she ran to them and gave them a big hug. They both smiled and hugged her back.

"See you in two weeks." She said softly as she smiled brightly.
.
.
.
Agnarr and Iduna walked in front of Elsa as she bowed to them.

"Do you have to go?" She asked worriedly.

Agnarr smiled softly at her.

"You'll be fine, Elsa." He said.
.
.
.
(1 day later)

Julie was in her room practicing with her magic, she knew she had magic since Agnarr and Iduna told her about it when she was ten. She was levitating Girdle when she heard someone knocking on her door.

She opened it up to see Kai.

"Kai? What's going on with you?" She asked.

Kai looked up at her, hesitant to tell her the news.

He took a deep breath.

"It's about the king and queen. T-they went down in the southern sea last night." He said.

Julie's eyes widened as tears streamed down her face.

She had a gut feeling that something was gonna happen, but now that it happened, it doesn't feel right.

She fell to her knees and started to cry. Kai sat down with her and hugged her, tears falling down his face as well.
.
.
.
After Anna heard about Agnarr and Iduna's deaths, her and Julie scheduled a memorial for them.

Julie hugged Anna as she cried in her chest.

"In the name of our king and Queen lost at sea," The Bishop said, "Arendelle shall honor their ways until our young queen comes of age. May they rest in peace."
.
.
.

Anna and Julie walked sadly towards Elsa's door.

Anna looked at Julie. She nodded as Anna knocked on her door.

"Elsa? We haven't seen you during Mother and Father's funeral. Everyone was looking for you out there. Are you okay?" Anna said.

No answer.

Julie sighed as she put her back to the door, slid down, buried her head into her knees and cried.

Anna bent down and hugged her, crying as well.

"Come on, Elsa," Anna said. "It's just you, Julie, and me. We don't have anyone else left but us."

Julie turned to lay her head on Anna's chest, her puffy eyes full of tears.

"Do you wanna build a snowman?" Anna said as she closed her eyes.

Elsa, on the other side of the door, also buried her head in her knees, crying.

I'm sorry, Anna, Julie.
